disgusting bed bugs! do not stay there!

Sehr nettes, hilfsbereites Personal gutes reichhaltiges englisches Frühstück ruhiges, sauberes Zimmer im Keller

Im grossen und ganzen kann man wohl in Bristol für den Preis erwarten, vielleicht müsste mal eine Rundumerneuerung stattfinden. Die Teppichböden im Zimmer sowie im ganzen Hotel sahen schlimm aus.

+ sehr gute Lage, nur wenige Minuten zu Fuss zur Universitaet; + sauber (Zimmer und Bad); + exzellentes Fruehstueck; + niedriger Preis (hatte ein Angebot im Internet gebucht); - sehr laut, da die Waende und Tueren praktisch keinen Laermschutz bieten (ich hatte das Pech, das Zimmer direkt neben der Hotellobby zu bekommen - dort bekommt man praktisch […] jedes Wort an der Rezeption oder in der Halle mit); - Fenster schlecht isoliert; - Service beim Fruehstueck etwas langsam; - Foehn etwas schwach. The Washington is basic and good value for money with breakfast included. Its location is convenient and the staff always very helpful and friendly. Would stay again.

This hotel is perfect for city centre ..easy walk..easy parking ..hotel was excellent value ..kind and friendly staff..will definitely use them again ..bristol is fantastic place to visit..you will not be disappointed..john worcester

Great included breakfast; nice touches of fruit and biscuits in room; friendly; two supermarkets and many restaurants within 3 mins walk

Good location and helpful staff, who are on duty day and night.Excellent breakfast and overall good value for money. The 2 rooms that I saw were very much in need of refurbishment as were the passageways and stairs etc. But hey - where else can you get a cheap non-ensuite room ? A real bonus when you are on a budget!

Great old hotel,possibly circa Edwardian era,really enjoyed hosptality of staff.Breakfast plentiful hot and cold,rooms comfortable.

very good value and friendly staff, the bed wasn't that comfortable but I do have a memory foam one at home. I would stay there again and the breakfast was excellent.

extremely friendly and helpful staff, good and rich breakfast incl. buffet. the rooms were small, the furniture rather old but clean. the really bad thing were the extremely thin walls. my whole bed rocked when my neighbours came home at 3 am and shut their door, you could understand every single word of their conversation. city center is within walking […] distance. Friendly staff, great breakfast at great price, good location

We were disappointed with the size and decor of our room - it was still in the 1970's. The bathroom facilities were basic and the shower only facility still had a shower curtain not a screen. (It was clean though). Our main complaint was the fact that the heating was on ALL NIGHT for both nights of our stay and we were told it went off at 9PM. Our radiator […] could not be turned off individually and we found it extremely uncomfortable and also not very 'green'. Although the location was ideal we will be looking for different accommodation next time. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent. Mehr

First night was very cold as management think mid-October is too early to put on heating. On complaining they supplied a fan heater. Sunday morning no hot water as boiler had failed. This was rectified later in the day. On the positive side the breakfast is good, the staff helpful & friendly and the price reasonable.

Lovely staff, excellent location but the hotel is well rough, seventies style abound. All in all well past its sell by date!

Stay was disappointing in comparison to a previous one as the room was not as nice/layout wise, I think it used to be a smoking room and the closest bathroom did not have a shower. Having said that it was still very comfortable, good fascilities, really friendly staff, and fantastic breakfast so I would still recommend it to anybody as a budget hotel […] in a lovely convenient location. Great hotel for the price, really great breakfast included, rooms had all the facilities I needed and everything was clean. Only negative was that the walls were all thin, and when the person in the rooms above/beside me watched tv, woke up early, or used their taps it would wake me up. Once I had some ear plugs it was fine!

Good facilities (internet etc.), excellent breakfast. Hotel is in reasonable condition, what I would expect for the money. Ceiling paint in bedroom was bit flaky, but other than that the room was quite nice. Nice area and excellent location for city centre & water front.

Very good service from all staff. Accomodation adequate although furnishings rather 'tired'. Shower control rather fiddly. Very good breakfast.

The hotel is old but our room was very clean. We had a car and was suppose to have parking but there wasn't any available. It was a major problem trying to find a spot to park. The staff was very helpful at check in and even carried our bags up. You had a choice for breakfast that included eggs anyway you wanted plus a buffet with fruit, pastries and […] cereal. Mehr

Wasn't expecting much with it being 2* and that's exactly what I got. The room felt like a student hostel. Could really do with a lick of paint. The TV didn't work and the shower was broken. If you are after a reasonably priced room and not too fussy about the quality of the paintwork this is a good bet. If you are in Clifton you should be out enjoying the location anyway!

we stay at the Washington regularly. it is convenient and reasonable and has a great breakfast this time we had room 51 and the bed was seriously uncomfortable. it really should be ditched there were no bedside tables and no shower curtain the first night. I did tell reception about the bed. all teh othe rrooms I have stye din have been far more satisfactory […] so I will just avoid this room in future Mehr

the Washington hotel is warm and friendly if you need somewhere very reasonable to stay it's great it is also dog friendly parking is an issue in clifton and this time the car park was shut

The overall was ok. The door off the hotel room was rickety. The bathroom is communal, wish was kind of a shock. The blankets were just some layers. Breakfast was fine, but there is half buffet half service, wish was kind of confusing. The overall comfort was terrible. But the location was excellent!

Some things about this hotel are marvellous: the staff, the pillows, the scrambled eggs for breakfast and it was in the right location for us. but our room was on the small side, and could have done with a fresh coat of paint. Biscuits on our welcome tray were not replaced when eaten and tissues were not replaced when the box was empty. The carpet felt […] gritty / dirty underfoot and the shower was very high up with no means of adjustment, and veered from very hot to very cold. Having said all that, we enjoyed our three nights there, mainly because the staff on reception and at breakfast were all so lovely , helpful and friendly. Mehr

A very good breakfast included in the price is unusual these days. The staff are very friendly & helpful. The heating is inadequate at times & in some parts of the hotel. The water in the shower at busy times could go from ice cold to scalding hot in seconds.

This was perfect for myself and my 2 friends for our overnight trip for the Ryder cup. The hotel is going through a process of renovation currently and my room was very nicely decorated with good touches such as fruit, biscuits and tea & proper coffee as a standard in every room. This is a exceptionally friendly hotel. We had a really nice doubleroom looking out onto a quiet courtyard with a blackbird singing in it. The breakfast spoils you for choice and its free. Parking was very good for such a central location. Staff at check in and breakfast helpful and efficient. Quality of breakfast was much better than expected with various options available. The main drawback of this hotel however is the poor state of repair. It is a period building with big Georgian windows and balconies but it is in need of a major […] refurb in the rooms and corridors. The clue to this hotel is in the fact that the front step is at least a foot high. The hotel is clean and comfortable, the breakfast and coffee good, staff are helpfull but no lifts or porters so carry your own luggage up some challenging stairs, If your BMI is 35 plus try some where else, but if you like value for money try this one. Maybe a low budget hotel but the rooms definately reflected the price although saying that I have stayed in far superior rooms in Blackpool for less. Desperately in need of refurbishment ( Light fittings in room were broken and window frames dropping to pieces, room very small and bedding faded); also waited 3 quarters of a hour for breakfast which […] was very basic 1 rasher bacon, 1 sausage etc. Staff did apologise for wait and stated they were short staffed but advertised croissants only came out in fours and were grabbed by nearest diners and plate not refilled the whole time in the dining room. This hotel is a great value and the staff is very nice. However,if you are going to be going into Bath or other surrounding areas you may want to look for a different location. It is a 15-20 min. walk to the bus station and the train station is about a 45 min. walk or appox. 7 pound($10) cab ride. Having read previous reveiws I was not expecting much. However, pleasenely surprised. Room very clean and comfortable, breakfast very enjoyable with a wide range of items to choose from. Service very good.

As the cost of our twin room was half that of other similar hotels in the area we weren't expecting much - we were very pleasantly surprised. The decour of the communal was a little on the shabby side but the room itself was fine. It was clean, comfortable and well stocked with drinks, fruit and even a couple of biscuits. Hotel Needs to be Updated very tired looking ,poor car parking poor breakfast

My specific requirement for this hotel was its location which was perfect for my needs, and in-room internet. It did not have that. Instead you had to go to the very small reception to get wireless service. It was right by the front door and therefore cold and you had to be extremely careful because the small table contained flowers in water.

Good points: Great central location for the Triangle and University areas of Bristol plus Clifton. Secure parking available at six pounds per day which is cheaper than central city parking day rates. Friendly staff. Fresh coffee and tea available in room. Clean rooms. Rooms at the back of the hotel are quiet. A good value hotel in context of Bristol […] prices. Downsides: One bed in the twin room was very uncomfortable and the room was next to the kitchen thus noisy in the morning. All rooms are outdated and a bit shabby. No toiletries beyond soap; provision of radio and TV differ across rooms. Verdict: Have stayed before and would do so again as convenience of location and affordability make it reasonable value for Bristol. Other hotel chains and boutique hotels in Bristol seem to be upping standards whilst the Washington gets shabbier. In the Clifton range, I've stayed at Berkeley Square which is the best quality but provides less value as you can stay better for less in other hotels, The Clifton is similar to Washington but can be very noisy as it has a bar attached. Best points for all are location as a great bases for this area of Bristol, fresh coffee, tea and fruit in rooms, parking, nice staff. Mehr

The greeter at the hotels desk was so helpful and super nice. Not only did she make us feel at home but made cab and dinner reservations for us!! This hotel is great!! Good breakfast and service... I will definately stay there again!!
