This is a cute little bed and breakfast tucked away in a really fun part of town. Ron is incredibly nice and really made us feel at home. Awesome breakfast and very nice facilities. A quick L ride away from downtown.

The Villa is a quaint and comfortable little place to stay, tucked away in an ... interesting area of Chicago with more than a few sights to see that will certainly draw your interest in some form or another.

The Villa Toscana is in the heart of "Boystown" on Chicago's North Side (Lake View Neighborhood) and within easy walking distance to Wrigley Field and the L rapid transit. It is on a busy street with frequent bus and cab service and the neighborhood is quite safe. The inn is well cared for, but like many older homes, has paper-thin walls. Additionally, […] the neighborhood is full of bars and nightlife but it is LOUD and I mean LOUD on this street at night--with bar time 4am weekends. We slept well but could hear the action, and this was the winter with the windows tightly closed. Summer, the inn keeper tells us, is even more robust. The description of the hotel was over sold. It was reminiscent of my youth hostel days. The floors were linoleum; the bed was old; the furnace ran all night. Located in the middle of the city, parking is also a challenge.

Quiet pleasant very welcoming atmosphere especially after a long trip. Bed was very comfortable Clean modern bathroom with plenty of hot water. Short easy walk from Addison stop on red line and Wrigley Field. Fantastic variety of breakfast food. Will definitely return on next trip.

Very nice B&B! Tucket back from the street in a quite safe area. Most taxi drivers did not even know it was there? Not for people who are offended for staying in an area that is refered to as "Boys Town". The area is clean and nice, really close to Wrigley Park. Too bad it was the week for the White Sox and not the cubs when I stayed. Although I did […] catch a White Sox game and it was a great time! I was in the area for a convention off the navy Pier and it was about a 5-10 minute Taxi ride to their or Downtown Chicago. I came back and forth and really just needed a place to rest my head. I always felt safe, welome, and relaxed in my time although limited in the Villa Tescano. The best part was the price compared to the downtown Hotels! It was clean, the staff was friendly and even called me to confirm the time of my arrival the day before. The staff was friendly,helpful and made me feel welcome. Mehr

The main thing was that it was close to my son's house. He and his wife had just had a baby, making my wife and I grandparents. The room was Okay. There was no service. It was self-serve on everything. The breakfast area was well stocked with muffins, bagels, cereal and other breakfast items. There was no hot water, but a cold shower does wake you up. […] We only saw any kind of staff once. It looked like they had come in and made up the bed on 3 of the 4 days. It was a comfortable room, although the bathroom could use a good cleaning, especially the shower. Finding a parking spot was not the easiest thing to do, although by Chicago standards, it wasn't too bad. It was a great location for us. It was in the heart of Boystown, a gay area of Chicago. Before staying in Villa Toscana, I never stayed in a B&B before, and I must say, they set up pretty high expectations for my next time staying in a B&B. They have this pretty garden with a little fountain and grilling area and then the house is always clean same as the rooms. I'm not a fan of sharing bathroom but I must add they always kept it clean. […] And the extra bonus is the location, this place is located two blocks away from wringley field and the metra station and it's surrounded by restaurants and bars. This B&B visit restored my faith in the beauty and comfort of B&Bs. There was no over-done victorian fluff, no 2- hour window to gulp down breakfast. Noone doting over me or signs everywhere to do this, don't do that. Simply, they did everything right. First the house is in great shape and everything is reasonable. Big kitchen, brekkie is a whopping […] 6am to noon window, tons of food to choose from, but food and appliances are within reach so you can make your own breakfast or coffee/tea at any time of day. The room was more comfortable than most hotels I have stayed at- good bed, good pillows, good bedding. Very very clean. I did a shared bath setup which cased me just one 10-minute wait, once, otherwise was well suited for sharing. There's even a mini fridge in the second floor hall in case you want to store your takeout leftovers. You can't find hardly ANY accommodations in this part of Lakeview (I know- I lived in this area 6 years) and certainly not at the great price i paid. Keys worked, TV worked, etc. The decor is elegant and a nice mix of classic and modern. There is a lovely garden/yard area in front of the house so, while you are in a busy area, you are set back from the street. Restaurants 20-40 steps from front door. There was no noise from other guests; i did see a few but everyone was respectful and not a loud party scene. Simply, they got everything right. We had absolutely no hot water the night we came in and no hot water in the morning. When I called I was told that I was turning it on wrong. Last I checked 2 grown adults can figure out a shower. I had a very important meeting followed by 2 flights that I had to do without a shower. I received an annoyed apology with the continued claim that I was […] doing it wrong. This place is a gem tucked away in north Chicago just blocks from the brown line and tons of great little restaurants, cafes, Zoo, etc. If you want to get out of the 'Loop' and really see Chicago, this is the place.

We loved this place! We went for a couple games at Wrigley Field, so we picked it based on the location primarily. We wanted to be located near the "L" train & the field, so it was perfect.....just a few blocks for walking. Many great restaurants/entertainment in the area. The B&B was very welcoming, well stocked breakfast items, clean rooms and just […] overall a very great experience. One thing we did notice is that we were on the side of the house that was next to a restuarant (or 2) that had outdoor patios, so the noise was a little louder than we would have liked after 10:00-11:00 at night, but it seemed to always quiet by 11:00 or so. We booked the room because of the price and proximity to red line. Never stayed at a B&B before -- the room was beautiful, clean, etc., no problems sharing a bathroom, breakfast was simple but sufficient. We thought the neighborhood might be too loud, with a beer garden next door, but the beds were so comfortable, we weren't bothered at all and slept […] great. Morroccan room is very small, bed is a twin, not even a queen. No interaction with the hosts onsite (an expected core part of the B&B experience). Continental breakfast ok... but barely. Parking is quite difficult. Ended up in parking struacture a few blocks away ($20/night - we know, it's Chicago). Neighbors conducting very lively conversations at […] 3am... I have stayed here several times, but always stayed upstairs. Those rooms need updating, but are alright. This time I stayed downstairs, it was terrible. There are four rooms in the basement. It is damp and the smell of mildew is overpowering. Also, in the past they gave parking passes for the area. This time they wouldn't, saying you'll never find […] a spot on a Sunday night anyway. This hotel is in the best location it's two block from milk park walking distance from Hancock tower 1 block away from water taxi and the hotel concierge was great and very informative also it's next store to wal greens for gel and hairspray

Directly in Boystown but if you're more into the straight scene wrigleyville is within walking distance. Always a great time at this bed and breakfast. Perfect if you're traveling with one other person Although one day I would love to book the whole place for a bunch of my friends.

Nice quaint little place, makes you feel like you're at home. Friendly staff. Only complaint is that I reserved a room with a private bath and was given a room with a shared bath when I arrived, however I didn't complain because I was only staying one night and my room was right next to the bathroom. Though the room was quite small, it was just a place to lay our heads so it wasn't a big deal. It was very clean and the breakfast was really good with many options from cereal, to muffins, to fresh and canned fruit. Quaint little B&B in the heart of Boystown. We stayed in the the "Neo-Classic" room, which was small but clean. The owner lives there and was very warm & receptive. The common kitchen area had tons of food for the continental breakfast and most everything was left out all night which allowed for late night snacking. Great location and you can't beat […] the price. Luckily we had our own bathroom (I would NOT have liked having to use a common bathroom). The only downside was the parking situation. We were given a parking pass for each night we were there, but ended up having to pay for parking in a public lot ($25/day) because there was absolutely no street parking. I was on the verge of a meltdown after desperately searching for a parking spot, so the $25 public lot wasn't that bad of an option after all of that. All & all this was a great little B&B for a getaway weekend to the city. Mehr

I recently went to Villa Toscana to go to a club with a friend. Our room was being renovated so we were upgraded to a larger bed. This is a quaint old house with lots of personal charm. The owner was very nice and was very hospitable even though we arrived way later than expected. The scene in Chicago is top-notch and we had a wonderful time stumbling […] home at 3am. Our room was nicely decorated and very clean (our room had masks on the walls and we did notice that they looked a bit dusty). Bed area, floor, bathroom, toilet, etc. were top notch in terms of cleanliness though. We stayed on the lower level and felt right at home with our night there. I'm sure Words of advice, if you are driving come early as trying to find a parking spot at 9pm in downtown Chicago is next to impossible even with a residential parking pass (included with stay for one night). Nice, reasonably priced rooms that should be looked at if you want to stay around Wrigley Field. Check out the clubs on Clark St! Would recommend this quaint bed and breakfast to anyone who wants to enjoy an intimate and personal night with lots of bars within walking distance :) Mehr

This was one of the best stays I've ever had, anywhere, at any price! And the price was quite a bargain for a Chicago hotel. The room was immaculate, the always-open kitchen was very convenient, with fresh-baked muffins the day I arrived. Linens and towels were top-notch, free wifi and cable were a plus. Breakfast is only cereals and yogurt, no eggs […] or meats, but that was ok for me. And only a block away is the Chicago Diner, a world-class vegetarian restaurant that was outstanding - I had dinner there every night,. The neighborhood is safe and fun. All in all, a fantastic option for a stay ion Chicago - I'll stay here next time I'm in town, if I'm lucky enough to get a room. One other note, I understand that some of the rooms have shared bathrooms, some private bathrooms (mine did), so you may want to check that out when reserving. Enjoy this wonderful B&B. Mehr

This Guest House is in a safe neighborhood with easy access to public transportation. The room was clean and food provided. The water coming from the pipes smells like perhaps the pipes are old and not updated. The live-in lady uses clorox on the cleaning sponge which leaves an odor on my hands. The location of this B&B is outstanding. It's very close to a wide array of neighborhood restaurants and in walking distance of interesting shops and movie theaters. The blue line is only a few blocks away and the #8 bus makes frequent stops on N. Halsed. The room was small but comfortable and since I did not spend much time in my room it was just right […] for my needs. Loved staying here. The location was super convenient and close to the train and Wrigley field. The breakfast is just a stocked kitchen which worked well for me and my husband because we were jet lagged and got up late. The home could not have been more quaint or beautiful, I would highly recommend this B&B. The area is lovely and I never felt unsafe. […] My only caution is there are a LOT of adult themed shops in the area, I probably wouldn't bring small children here. Other than that, it was wonderful! We booked this room as an alternative to an expensive hotel. Immediatly from walking in the door we were welcomed and the place felt like home. The Bed was a little stiff for my liking but it was a great place. When I visit Chicago again I will stay at the Villia Toscana again.

The B&B was much better then the pictures show. Room was small but just what we needed. We stayed on the neo-classical room. Modern decor.The location was great. Walking distance to el and wrigley field. Just a short 5 minute drive to downtown. Breakfast and acess to the kitchen was convenient. It was quiet. b&B was tucked back a few feet from road […] so you feel like you are out of the way of city. Plenty of bars and restaurants within walking distance. Parking could be a little difficult. Get a parking pass for the street on arrival and try to park before 5. Although we parked around7 one night And only drove around for 10 minutes before we snagged a place close. If not, you can pay to park at lot a couple blocks away for $25 a night. Great experience for a great price. I would definitely sty here again. Mehr

This B&B in located in the gay neighbourhood. If that kind of a neighbourhood appeals to you, then it is a perfect location. Bars, restaurants and other gay venues within walking distance. The owners are very friendly and accommodating.
