"Very pleasant surprise"
I am a 62 old female traveling solo on this recent pleasure trip to Seattle. I needed a hotel that was walking distance to places of interest and to public transportation. The Inn at Virginia Mason satisfied both those requirements. Additionally, the price was great. The hotel staff old not have been more pleasant, accommodating and helpful. To my surprise, […] the on-site restaurant, Rhodedendron. was excellent when I dined ere for dinner. I will absolutely return should the occasion arise. Mehr
we had a very nice stay, and the room was clean and quiet.
"virginia mason- a hospital hotel"
My fiancé and I stayed at the virginia mason for st. Patrick's day and paid an unacceptable amount a night for inconvenient and expensive parking. A small room with a broken thermometer (so we were given a fan). A television complete with knobes and a birthday that may be the same as mine (april 1981). Curtains that did not block the sun to encourage […] rest later into the morning. My fiancé and I stayed at the la quinta down the road a month ago and had free parking, sixty inch flat screen with ppv available, a couch, wonderful curtains, excellent wifi and a plusha much more reasonable amount. Lesson learned. Mehr
"Inn at Virginia Mason"
All of the physical amenities of the Inn are very good, but being right next to the emergeny entrance or whatever entrance it is, is not that much fun. Luckily they give you ear plugs.

"Poor quality roof over your head"
This hotel is very rundown. Sheets, towels, flooring, window treatments. It was depressing. I could not stay in the room. I left and went to another hotel two blocks away that was CLEAN and had the same per night cost! In my opinion The Virginia at Madison should only be your choice if there is NOWHERE else to stay and it is too cold to sleep in your […] car. AWFUL. Mehr
The room was good size, but the old 19" tv was mounted to the dresser that you could not watch tv in bed. There was no internet service on the 7th floor, and the restaurant is closed on weekends!!!
"Bad Reviews"
I read some bad reviews of this hotel after I had already signed up, so I was a little fearful when I arrived. It's true that there is a huge uphill walk if you are coming from the University train station, and it's also true that this is an older hotel. Nevertheless, I had a good stay (of four nights) and would stay here again if I came back to Seattle. The […] location is very convenient to the downtown area and the convention center. It's also convenient to the trendy Capitol Hill area. Because it's not new and fancy, the price was a little lower, and I was happy to be in walking distance. Also, it's nice to be at the top of the hill, because everyplace else is downhill. The room was clean and comfortable. Since it is an older hotel, the room was actually uncomfortably LARGE. I even had a closet, which was handy since I was staying for a few days. There was free wifi and it worked fine, even though I was on an upper floor. There was no fitness center, but I got a 3-day visitor's pass from the YMCA, which was a 15 minute walk away. I ate at the hotel restaurant a few times. It was obviously a popular neighborhood spot, especially at lunch time, and the prices were reasonable (not like a typical hotel restaurant). The menu was interesting and the food was well prepared. The waitstaff was very friendly and personable, which made the food more enjoyable. My waitress told me that she served the best bread pudding in the world, and she seems to be right! There was no business center, but there was a computer in the lobby and I was able to print out my boarding pass easily. The hotel is associated with a hospital, and a lot of guests were engaged in talk about sick people or treatment options. Other than that, though, there were few signs of being attached to a hospital. I didn't feel it was fair for some people to say that the emergency sirens were going off all night. If you know anything about real hospitals, you know that there is not usually a steady stream of emer Mehr

"The Inn at Virginia Mason in Seattle, Wash."
The Inn at Virginia Mason is a wonderfulplace to stay It is located close to many places of interest and for us right next to Virginia Mason Hospital. It has an old time Ambiance. The Rhododeneron Resterant at the hotel had resinable prices and the service was outstanding. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
"Adequate for our purposes"
I was looking for a hotel to stay at after a planned long dinner with wine pairings so I didn't want to drive. This met our needs in that the room was comfortable and clean. There are no amenities to speak of but I really just needed a quiet place with a bed and a bathroom. I have no complaints.
"Our stay at Virginia Mason"
We have stayed here several times and have no problems with re-booking. The rooms are quiet and the staff are polite and helpful. It is more your no thrills but has all one needs. The restaurant in the Inn offers a large variety of food that once entering the lobby teases you with it's aromas.
"The Inn at Virginia Mason"
This hotel is ideally located for patients and their families while at Virginia Mason Medical Center. The Rhodadendron Retaurant was wonderful. We enjoyed it very much. The hotel is old and could use some updating but the price was very reasonable and the staff was terrific.
"The Inn at Virginia Mason"
The hotel is next to Virginia Mason Hospital. It is about six to ten long blocks downhill to the downtown. An inexpensive cab ride is better, if you can get a cab. The hotel manager was very personable and responsive. The rooms are small and old. It is not a modern hotel, but that is reflected in the price.
"Great Value, Comfortable Bed"
The bathroom was spacious and the bed quite comfortable! The price and convenient location made it easy to overlook the aging appearance, including wals in need (or in the process of) repainting.

"Inn @ Virginia Mason"
The hotel clerk was slightly rude when I checked in @ 11p (due to my daughters hosiptal stay) and there was no coffee in the lobby (none in the room at all) on either Saturday or Sunday morning when I came down at 9am. That was disappointing.

"This hotel's main advantage is its proximity to Se"
I was expecting more amenities in this hotel than what I saw. So,If you are looking for an affordable hotel that is close to downtown Seattle this hotel is good. Otherwise, you can get much more for your money by staying in the suburbs and pay the same or even less.
"Great Location, Friendly Staff"
The room was very spacious. I didn't realize it did not have A/C, however, this was not an issue this time of the year.
"The Inn at Virginia Mason"
Worst front desk agent. It stood in front on her for 5 minutes before she said hi. Didn't get up and sat down the whole time she was checking us in. You couldn't ask her any question because she didn't want to get interupted while she's checking us in. I don't know how she got a job in the service industry.
"Good Price for Seattle"
Good price, comfortable and large room, nice staff. Good value.
"Inn at Virginia Mason - close to hospital"
clean, comfortable and convenient
"Not bad if you want to save a lot of money."
The hotel is right at the side of the hospital. It is a very old hotel. It's a place where people stay from out of town with loved ones staying at the hospital. It's located on the hilly side of Seattle so be prepared to for a stair master walk up. The front desk people are very friendly. I checked in a bit early and the lady accommodated by letting […] me use a room right away. It's not a 4 star hotel so don't expect too much of it. The only thing I don't like about the room is I don't think there is air-conditioning. It can get pretty stuffy in there so I just opened the windows. Mehr
"The Inn at Virginia Mason - good value"
The Inn is located up some very steep hills. I came into town via the light rail and hauled my luggage up the hill. Fortunately, I like to work out, and given the Inn does not have an exercise room, this was the next best thing! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room was large with a great walk-in closet. However, the twin beds left […] something to be desired on the comfort scale. I would stay again, but opt for a room with a larger bed. Mehr
"Great price: not many amenities"
I had a very pleasant stay at this Inn. It was inexpensive, cozy, and a great value. Before you book, consider that it is 8 blocks uphil from the nearest light rail station, and 10 blocks uphill from the water front. Buses and taxis are frequent. The room's decor is outdated, and the beds are lumpy. However, it's a great value property. If you are […] visiting a loved one in the hospital, this is the Inn for you. Free strong wifi on the room, and very reasonable room service prices. Bonus: all food items have dietary info listed in the menu as the Inn is connected to a hospital. There is no air conditioning, so consider it before booking on the hot months. Overall: great value for the price, remember that walking from downtown to the inn is all uphil at a steep grade, and the rooms have very few amenities. I will be staying here again in the future. "Inn at Virginia Mason, SEA"
Older hotel. Clean. It met our needs. Location is close to everything, but being on top of the city makes for a bit of an effort to return to the room when walking from Pike's Market, or Safeco. Some hill climbing involved.
"Enjoyed the hospitality!"
Took the light rail from SeaTac and walked uphill to a wonderful accomodation. The Inn has a nice restaurant and is close to the downtown area. Not for elderly people (steep hill walking), parking available west of hotel. The Staff was very helpful with directions/site recommendations and the Enterprise Car Rental on Boylston offered a great weekly […] rate! Enjoyed the stay.....Thank you. Mehr

"Virginia Mason- Old, dated, but good location"
The staff at the hotel are fantastic, as is the restaurant. The hotel itself is rather dated and could use new carpeting, paint, bedding, and remodeling of the bathrooms. I had 2, small, flat pillows on a queen bed. I was on the 6th floor and even though I had the windows open, there was little street noise. The hotel has a direct connection with the […] Virginia Mason Medical Center and I would go over there for lunches and breakfast in their cafeteria. Parking is expensive. The lot on 9th street charges $20/day. And it's a very steep hill down to the parking garage. Bring your own hair dryer as there are none in the rooms. Mehr
Though reasonably priced and convenient to downtown...this hotel needs some serious maintenance...carpets need cleaning, and rooms smell musty.
"Virginia Mason Problems"
The room was low cost and adequate. However, the web site lead me to believe that the restaurant would be available for a nice breakfast. In reality the restaurant was closed (on weekends) and we had to have room service from the hospital cafeteria. Plastic dishes with covers, etc. The parking lot is a block away, with no elevators for luggage and […] a block long walk up a very, very steep hill. I recommend that you drop off your luggage in the hotel before you park. Also, the meter for parking tickets faced the street in the opposite direction from which we entered the parking lot after dark. We told the desk clerk we didn't get a parking ticket, and she led us to believe that wouldn't be a problem. However, as a result we paid for 24 hours of parking instead of the 12 or so hours we were parked. Be sure to get a parking ticket! Mehr
"Great place for the money"
Very much a 'hospital' hotel, but nice for the money. A block from two bus stops. Breakfeast wasn't all that great. at the hospital

"Older Hotel"
This is an older property and thus does not have air-conditioning. Usually that would be ok but it was a warm day. I opened the windows and the neighborhood is so noisy - VM ER next door and a barking dog - that it made it an uncomfortable stay. The biggest complaint was parking. We were told we could park in the hospital garage and as long as we were […] out before 8 am, it was only $5. The reality is that it cost $20. I complained to the hotel and the clerk said the manager would call. I have not heard anything Mehr
for the price not a good bargain it's design for people visiting somebody at the hospital. The view of my room was the hospital room, could see patients in their room in their bed and constant noise from the hospital like a/c and the location in a hill you have to be in shape, too expensive.
"An older hotel..."
but very comfortable with pleasant staff who are eager to assist if needed. We stayed at VM when a family member had their surgery at the hospital and found it to be a very pleasant experience.
"just what we needed"
A quiet, clean hotel at a good price - just what we needed. I was having an out-patient procedure nearby - at Swedish Medical. Turns out there are several hospitals in the area - so many that during the day, there are so many medical people on the sidewalks that it's hard to tell where the medical facilities start and stop. The neighborhood included […] nice tree-shaded streets and neat old brick buildings with lots of lunch eateries and just enough restaurants serving dinner to keep us entertained (and well fed). Our only complaint was that the parking was at the bottom of a steep hill - plan accordingly if you have mobility issues. Mehr

"Nothing fancy, but very nice"
This hotel, built in the 1920s, lacks modern amenities that some travelers may want -- the TV in my room was more or less broken, there was no gym, no gift shop... Room decor was nothing special. But everything was clean. And what a friendly place! The staff went out of their way to make me comfortable, and the little restaurant in the lobby was a […] terrific breakfast spot. The architecture is pure 20's -- nice cut glass doors, pretty plaster moldings. A bargain, much more pleasant than the downtown hotels, at half the price. Mehr
"The Inn at Virginia Mason Seattle summer"
We were quite pleased with our stay at the Inn .. the location is convenient and we didn't need a car. It is an older very nicely kept place, I loved it. The front dest people were very helpful with directions, restaurants etc. Be sure to take your own hairdryer. The walls must be thick, cuz it was so nice and quiet. ( I've stayed in some upscale hotels […] and you can hear every conversation of the people in the next rooms) The bed was super comfortable , in all we were pleasantly pleased. Its not the HIlton but it is nice, and so was the room rate. Mehr
"One Complaint of Inn at Virginia Mason"
The one thing which I felt was not right is putting through the voucher which was not used during my stay, and it was immediately debited.....the hotel informed me that it will take 3-5 days before my account is credited.....this appears to be a way of gaining interest at my expense for that short time....the voucher should be held as most hotels do […] and then expenses can be put through on the same card for the exact amount. This is my only complaint! Mehr
"inn at virginia mason"
Rhodedendron restaurant on 1st floor has delicious food. Staff are very friendly.
