This is a short review: Everything is perfect in this chic urban hotel: the design, restaurant, the bars, location, etc....the only problem is the very small dimension in the room we stayed. It felt claustrophobic ...and it also felt like a bad value for our money (226$/ night). I'll go somewhere else next time.

Everything was 100% right during our stay in W Montreal. From the welcoming guy to the cleaning lady.. What a perfect HR department they have!! Personnel was so friendly and polite. The moment we stepped into the hotel, the smell of cleanliness was the first hit! Even if the hotel is not super fancy from outside, the contemporary design makes you feel […] this is what you paid for once you see the interior decoration.. Our adventrous blood forced us to make a big mistake of dividing our 4 days stay in 2. 2 days in W Montreal, 2 days in Le Westin Montreal to see which one would be a better choice for our next visit to Montreal.. Westin is a nice and regular type hotel to stay if you're not expecting too much but I can't even compare it with W Hotel in any way! We're definitely stay in W during our next visit! Mehr

Fantastic location, great staff. Restaurant is so-so. Room is modern and sexy but terribly dark, very poor illumination and a small window that faced a curtain with pictures of flying geese.

Ultramodern hotel, nice location, rooms are clean but tight. Beds are comfy so all in all, if you are looking for a chique stay in Montreal, this may be the place for youl. If you are looking to spend a lot of time in the room be sure to know that the rooms are small.

Great hotel, amazing room. Not as loud as other W's but still very active on the weekends. So if you like it quiet after 1am, your gonna be disappointed. Excellent (if expensive) room service. Easily acessible to metro and oldtown

One big drawback was the loud noise from the music of the bar on Friday and Saturday nights. The thump, thump of the bass keep be awake until they closed the bar around 2am.

My wife and I stayed here for our 1 year anniversary. We stayed in a Mega King on the 7th floor and had a great view. The hotel layout and decor is very modern, trendy and well suited for the young professional traveller. In terms of decor it is not a Chateau Lake Louise nor does it intend to be, in fact it is quite the opposite. Service was spectacular […] and went well above our expectations. We did find that the hotel had a lot of pricey extras of which included WiFi. We found this appalling especially considering the price we paid for the room. The biggest plus was the hotel's location. It's central location made transportion around Montreal a breeze. Most things were walking distance and locations outside this range were easily accessible by bus or metro service. Great hotel for young travellers--either singles or couples. Probably less appealing to older travellers or families with small children. Very lively nightlife. Fitness facility was quite nice, though there is no pool. Also, the hotel is in a good location, with easy access to Old Montreal and other downtown locales.

The hotel was great, food was great, service was great. hated the loud bass from the night club that i could hear in my bed room and hated the loud nabbers that came back to their room drunk at 3 in the morning. Could not sleep for a couple of hours. It would be a great party hotel. Not made for romance.

Excellent hotel, grate atmosphere, grate service especially the concierge. Grate restaurant that he recommended and detail explained all the fun area.

Very Comfortable bed,room is very relaxing,exercise room not overly equipped but can definitely get a good workout,professional staff,wireless internet surcharge. Do dress warm,weather turned a tad chilly.Area is rich with Catherdrals for archetechural observers. Business center and bar/lounge on Mezzanine were both useful. Nice place.

AC was blasting all night, couldn't figure out how to turn it off. Internet was too expensive, daily wi-fi fee of $15. That's just milking your customer, when even starbucks gives you free wi-fi, or other less hip hotels give free wi-fi. Location was ok, but not walkable to most locations for shopping, etc, need a car. Hotel was hip and comfortable, […] but just didn't quite impress due to above stated reasons. Mehr

It was not the best stay at all... The music of is so loud its ridiculous. We were so annoyed of the noise and didn't even get 10 mins of sleep... Due to that we were really unhappy, and not at all satisfied and also wish to be reimbursed... I didn't book a night to stay up and party... I booked a night for what most people do... Sleep!!! And not only […] did I not get any sleep, I had to search for another hotel at like 2am! Fun huh? I would really appreciate a call and wish that this problem does get solved...and just cause this is a review I won't post my number but do wish you guys email me back with a phone number I can call... WINDOWS THAT OPEN!!! Can't explain just how important and wonderful that is. I could go on and on about the largeness of the room, the blissfully of that bathtub or the voyeur rainfall shower, the lush lines and colors of the decor, the quick and courteous service... but really, you need to experience it for yourself!

Spent two days-arrived on a Wed night-there was a velvet rope out front as they have a club and a lounge that is popular. Checked in and was given a room on the thrid floor. Asked if they had anything higher up? No. Got the the room-right over the entrance to the hotel where the throngs of club kids waiting to get in were screaming and making a scene. […] Also, the booming club music from the floor below permeated the room. The hotel is very conveniently located but trades on its 'cool' factor. The rooms are decorated in a very modern style but lacks certain basic items that normal hotels would have like a kettle. The beds are super soft and if you stay here for longer than 2 nights you WILL have back ache. One morning of our stay we had to have a cold shower and you will […] need to change your door key at least 5 times a day! For the amount of money that you spend this hotel is not worth it. Mehr

Otherwise, I would wish we had picked somewhere else. The bed was quite comfortable and I slept very well. However, the room was beyond tiny and done out in blue lights. The "fur" throw and pillow on the bed were gross and stored immediately out of sight. Our room overlooked an enclosed courtyard of an office building next door which shielded us from […] any possible natural light. Our windows were about 15 feet from some board meeting going on and it felt like we were trapped in a sea of florescent lighting. The wall between the shower and the bedroom was all glass - which was fine since I was traveling with my husband, but would have been totally weird and awkward if it were anyone else. (Seriously, you had to close the shower curtain to even have privacy on the toilet!) The side tables lit up blue, which I initially thought was cool. It just got to a point that I craved natural light - something that pretty much every other building in Montreal has been designed to provide . . . except this one. Maybe I've just outgrown the W brand, but unless you're gearing up for a great hibernation, skip this place and go to any of the other fantastic boutique hotels in Montreal. Whatever we saved on the room rate was eaten up in the charges for wifi, parking, and what have you. We had a great time overall in Montreal and this place was serviceable (though not exactly "steps" from anywhere notable; everything was at least a 5 - 10 minute walk) - I'd just pick a different property next time. The hotel is such a wonderful place to stay! They are very warm and welcoming! They provided so many nice things for us during our stay too. They upgraded our room for no reason at all and even let us check out a little late without an extra charge! During the stay they had a complimentary Acura Car Service that took us anywhere within 8km of the hotel! […] It was perfect for getting around Montreal! Also the wonder bar and toni bar had great bar tenders and a really energetic environment! A must go to if your looking for some evening fun! The only negative, is that things are a little pricey. I spent $20 on one drink at the bar! It was good, but not $20 good! Besides that, i highly recommend and i plan to rebook again at this great hotel! Mehr

I remember staying at the W Montreal shortly after it opened in 2004. I was in my 20s and felt like I was at the height of cool; staying in a hotel that was pure magic. Fast forward 7 years of extensive travel experience, and my reaction to the hotel this time around was "meh". The loud music and mood lights couldn't hide sloppy housekeeping and furnishings […] that are obviously getting tired. Our toilet had a ring of black around it. One day we came back to our room to find that housekeeping had left our bathroom trash can on top of the desk in the sleeping area (clearly in a rush). There were enormous scratches on the black lacquered closet and dresser/desk. The air conditioner made an annoying clicking noise (we turned it off). The crowd and ambience of the hotel bars/clubs was not as classy as I remembered it. None of these issues were serious enough to complain about or to make us miserable - we still got a great night's sleep in a very comfy bed, and got a great rate on the room. However, I wouldn't ever pay full price to stay here again. Mehr

This hotel is in a great location. Atmosphere in hotel is very club/party friendly. Perfume is sprayed in the lobby and halls so for those with any scent allergies this hotel isn't for you. Staff were extremely polite and helpful.

Our recent stay at the W was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we checked in to the moment we left we received excellent service. The room was gorgeous and very spacious. We we worried about the room being dark as other reviews had mentioned but not at all, we had 3 huge windows with a beautiful view that provided a ton of natural light. It appeared […] that all rooms are on one side of the buildings and all have windows with the same view. The staff were so pleasant and helpful, the concierge is ready and waiting to do anything you need help with. Finally upon departing the valet service brought ou car up put our bags in, brought us chilled bottles of water and even offered to take our old coffee cups to the garbage for us. I was in Montreal for a convention. The W was two blocks from the "convention hotels" but miles ahead of them in quality and value. They were actually overbooked on my first night, but they were so gracious and accommodating that it was no problem to spend one night in the Westin instead. Then they upgraded me to a suite, comped the night at the Westin […] and kept doing little things throughout the rest of my stay that were beyond the service I get anywhere else. I highly recommend this hotel. I was prepared to be a little put off by the attitude some "hip" hotels have --- you know, like they're doing you a favor letting you stay there. That was not the case here and they bowled me over with their service. Mehr
