Location was convenient to where I needed to do business but not much else. There is a small area of restaurants/bars within walking distance. The hotel was clean and the room was comfortable but but in need of a little updating. Bathroom seemed old and alarm clock was old and difficult to use. Was very pleased with our stay. Nice, clean rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Hair dryer was broken in the morning but it took only a few minutes to get a new one. Hot breakfast was very good--lots of options so everyone got what they wanted. Pool and hot tub were well kept and clean. Location was great for Kansas City.

Was so please with the room. Booked it last-minute via hotels.com. Got to hotel, we were upgraded 2 classes. Superb room, superb rate, superb staff and ammenities!

The front desk staff were very helpful and resourceful. The next morning; however, I was not pleassd with the housekeeping staff knocing on my door 3 times between 9 am and 11:15.... Checkout time is noon.

Every year during December we set aside a night for shopping at Crown Center, dinner at a downtown restaurant and a one-night stay at a hotel in the area. In the past, we have stayed at the Hyatt and have been able to get good single-night deals and been happy with the accomodations. Unfortunately, the Hyatt was bought by Sheraton and they no longer […] have affordable one-night-stay deals. This year we tried The Fairfield Inn. It was affordable, clean, nice atmosphere and had friendly, helpful customer service. The hotel is obviously older but it has been remodeled nicely. Only bad thing I can say is that there was some sort of police chase around 1:00 am with a police helicopter shining a light and shaking the building. No fault of the management or the hotel, but didn't make for either a good night sleep or a good impression of the neighborhood. Other than that, we couldn't have asked for a better night's stay within a close driving proximity to Crown Center shops and restaurants. Mehr

I would recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone. It started with the front desk clerk, Parks, when we arrived. He was extremely helpful and genuinely concerned about our comfort. The hotel and room were clean and comfortable and the location was great. We were 2 minutes from Crown Center and 5 minutes from the Plaza. I WILL stay there again! This hotel is in downtown KC. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The staff was very accomodating when there was an issue with my room they offered a different room. (The traffic noise on Main St was very noisy.) There is not a restaraunt in the hotel but Subway, Wendy's McDonalds, Church's and Popeye's are very close. If you have to stay downtown I […] would highly recommend this hotel. There are microwaves and refrigerators in the rooms even though hotels.com states there is only a microwave in the lobby. Mehr

The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. The room was nice. The breakfast, although not very exciting, was adequate. We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel delivered on the two most important things to me: a quiet room (I'm a light sleeper) and a firm mattress. The hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood. The free breakfast was good, the staff was nice. We were visiting my son so we booked this place because it's very close to his house. I couldn't tell you anything about dining in the area because […] my son picked us up every morning and dropped us off every night, so we basically used it just for sleep and breakfast. I'm a professional musician and travel extensively and stay at many hotels/motels. My recent stay at this establishment was most enjoyable. The staff was most accomodating, and the night time security officer was most helpful and a pleasure to talk to. I imagine I'll be staying there again in the future and am looking forward to it.

7/29-30/2011: We are very pleased with our overnight stay at Fairfield Inn- Union Hill- Kansas City! Easy to find and right in the middle of where we wanted to be: UK Med. Center; Union Station, Lidia's, Country Club Plaza; Hallmark and Cross Center! Heart of the Theater district too!! Clean, Comfortable, and Affordable. Good points... Very comfortable beds, quiet, with only a little road noise. great location, quick run over to the Royals stadium, Crown Center and Union Station are just down the road. Mixed points... Decent breakfast, good food, had to wait for stuff as biscuits and donuts ran out. Not good points... Constant musty smell in the room, and the AC seemed […] to be freezing or too warm/sticky, not that we spent many waking hours in the room to mess with the AC. Mehr

This place is nice because it is situated within walking distance of the WWI memorial and not too far from the art museum or downtown. Not difficult to get to off the highway. Breakfast was good and the rooms were good too. If I go back to KC again I will stay here.

The hotel is up-to-date, family friendly, and right in the middle of Crown Center, the Plaza, and Union Station. The kids spent hours in the pool, and the breakfast made it worth the money.

this is a nice hotel in downtown KC. not far from the sprint center, the power and light district, etc. the staff at this hotel is very helpful , respectful, and nice. the only thing we didn't like was the soap in the bathroom, too harsh, and the water is very hard. all in all, we would stay here again.

Room was clean and up to date. Hot tub was too hot. Sunday I went to get breakfast about 845am and everything was gone, waited about 20min to see if someone was going to bring out more and ended up taking the last two pieces of bread for toast. The staff was very friendly.

Hotel was clean and well kept. Location was great for what our weekend plans included. If I HAD to make a complaint I guess it would be that the mattress could have been softer and the water pressure in the shower really needs to be upgraded but overall, the hotel met our needs and would definitely stay again.

THe management at this hotel are far and away the best seen in recent history. THe manager Dan and His evening staff made our stay the best it could have been. We want to extend a heart felty thanks to all of the staff there and to you company.

My fiancee and I have stayed at this property 3 times now dating back to 2008. Our most recent stay was from December 27th to December 30th, 2010. The hotel was not really improved from our first stay, and in all actuality it appears to be getting worse. Overall the property is great because of its location. It is on Main Street only a couple miles […] from the Crown Plaza in one direction and the Country Club Plaza in the other. This makes this hotel a relatively cheap, and well positioned establishment. There are dozens of great restaurants, bars, and shopping areas within driving distance. They are not in walking distance, but that is definitely not a downside considering the short drive. Another major upside is the enclosed parking available for guests for free. Most hotels in this area above 3 stars charge for parking. The rooms are fairly big and fairly nice. The furniture and TV are a bit outdated, but the artwork in the room provides a nice touch. We have stayed in several different rooms with different views, and the views are not much to speak of. The beds and armchair are comfortable and big (we had the 2 queen beds). The carpet is clean and well taken care of. The bathroom is a an area that is seriously lacking. The bath area itself is seriously outdated, and incredibly small. Both the toilet and tub/shower do not work particularly well. We tried to use the tub one night and after 2 hours if was not even halfway full. The water temperature is also suspect. Some days it was freezing and sometimes it was hot. You never would know until you started up the shower. The sink area is a bit small, but is rather nice considering the rest of the bathroom area. Housekeeping is excellent as well as the rest of the hotel staff. The hotel is kept spotless, and the common areas and breakfast location are fantastic. Great hotel! We would stay again. The breakfast was good and the room for very comfortable. The staff was friendly as well. The location was convenient and parking was easy.

My husband and I thought we could walk to to the Crown Center but it was to far in the misty rain. The jazzacuzi was way to hot to get in.

Great location, great staff, clean room, free parking and breakfast. Would definately stay again. Close to downtown.

The hotel was nice and clean and the staff was excellent. The bed was a little soft for my taste but that's a personal preference. For the price of this hotel I think a flat screen TV with a pay-per-view movie/gaming system wouldn't be too much to ask for. I was very dissapointed in the tiny (looked like 27in) old school TV.

While this is not a luxury hotel, it was very close to the apartment of the person we were visiting and very convenient to all the places in Kansas City that we wanted to visit. The complimentary morning breakfast was substantial enough and the staff paid close attention to ensuring that what was there was maintained well. We'd stay there again.

The room was very nice and clean except for a stain on the curtains. Very courteous employees who went out of their way to help with any requests.

The employees were fun, nice, understanding, got us anything we needed, very friendly. Great location for experiencing downtown KC. Will definitely stay there anytime.
