Timmerman's Hotel & Resort - East Dubuque, IL

Hotel was great and the staff was friendly. Only issue was the toilet was clogged even when not being used.

Location is perfect, and very easy to find. Rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are very attentative. Our niece loved the swimming pool and the game room. Very difficult to access restaurants in Dubuque, maybe need a map. But very much enjoyed our stay at Timmerman's!

hotel was clean room was clean didnt use the pool as not much time to do that. but looked clean.

old but clean ,for a budget conscious individual, the jewel is the restaurant and supper club with the panaramic view of the mississippi river valey

This is an older well built hotel 60's vintage. We booked a king room and were first given a double double, which was corrected in a timely manner. The room had newer carpet, drapes, and comforter. The bathroom had an old tub and stool with a really old seat and really cheap toilet paper. The linens were fine as were the amenities. The TV was old and […] had poor reception.The hotel was suffering an infestation of box elder bugs, we killed six in the room. The pool and lobby are nice. In all we thought it was a half hearted renovation to a property that could become a destination with a major update. Local competition warrants it. This hotel was great for the weekend we stayed. The swimming pool was nice and even let you have guests use the pool for a small fee as well. Took our child there to see her cousins and it was a great meeting spot. I would Highly recommend this hotel to all of my friends who need a spot to rest.

Beauiful pool and nice people. Breakfast nothing special but overall a good place to stay.

Although the property is a little "tired", for the price it was a pretty good deal considering that it has a whirlpool, dry sauna and pool. It could use just a general going over but the staff were very courteous and helpful. For the price I would definently stay again. This is a great hotel for the price. Huge pool, nice hot tub, and a dry sauna to boot! I plan to stay here every time I come to Dubuque.

1.The Towels were old and tainted 2. The Microwave and Fridge had not been cleaned out and had some stench. 3. Room Air was not fresh and somewhat must have had a smorker indoors. 4. Continental breafast was cheap/less than adequate.-Old apples, a couple of Yorghut bottles etc 5. Breakast room was filthy dirty. Resort-Not at all.I Hotel-Sure, People that run it live there, so if that creeps you out not a good place. It has a decent pool & hot tub. The breakfast is 2nd rate at best. If your just looking for a place to lay down & sleep, and then go out for breakfast it will suit you just fine, the price is right. I enjoyed a nice stay recently at Timmerman's. The hotel was conveniently located and very clean. It presented an adequate continental breakfast and daily room service. I would stay here again if I find myself in this area.

This hotel was is central to Dubuque, IA and Galenal,IL. Our stay was 2 nights, rooms was clean and cozy, a bit outdated but gets the job done. Pool area is nice. Complimentary breakfast is a bit disappointing due to lack of selection and the oddest I have every seen (community cream cheese & milk) but they do have a waffle maker (which I am always […] a sucker for). Although room was clean, it had a lamp that almost fell apart when turned. TV was old CRT and the few channels available were fuzzy. Pool is large and clean, hot tub jets did not work. Personnell were friendly and very helpful.

Everything has been good and confortable; the only problems I had were with the small gym (one day without power) and the sauna (not working).

The lights above the bed did not work, and the lamp shades did not fit the new style cfl bulbs. But we did mention it and they fixed them. The shower head and handle in the shower/tub were very loose. Also the toilet seat was very loose. I think they needed to update their rooms with newer tvs and such. The rates were wonderful. Even more the staff was very helpful interms of aiding us in getting directions to wonderful places and eats. The room and hotel were very clean and confortable. Loved the quiet atmosphere. All in all would come back. The only growing edge would be to modernize the paint - to a brighter one.

First of we were to have a Non-Smoking room. Open the door the room spelled like a cigarette. Also had an ashtray in the room. The tub didn't drain, toilet seat was broken. Overall A very Bad Hotel. Wouldn't recommend to Anyone. Never Again would I stay there again. Will sleep in my car next time!!

Hadn't been at this location for about five years. Recent renovations to the lobby areas, as well as, the hallways and rooms, made for a delightfully comfortable visit! The pool and whirlpool are very clean and welcoming. The host couldn't have been any more accomodating. Timmerman's Restaurant near the resort has some of the best food ever tasted!

Our party had three rooms, each had its own issue. Our room had a mini-fridge and newer AC/Heater unit but the shower had one temp-very hot. Another room's heater didnt work very well, which is important in February, and the third rooms shower had no pressure. The room was very cold and the hot water was not that hot. I had probably the worst breakfast in a hotel so far.

Visiting the Galena area for a three day getaway with only the Internet for information, I was doughtful of advertised information. Reviews online about hotel accomodations were questionable. Ratings on this Hotel prior to 2010 were very low due to management and/or construction changes that were occurring. Area Hotels/motels were booked solid due to […] local events. When arriving at the Hotel my companion and I were pleasingly surprised by the cleanliness of the Lobby, Pool, Washrooms and Breakfast areas. The Staff was Courteous, Friendly and Knowledgeable of any questions we presented to them. Our room ,when entered was clean and orderly and larger in size than expected. I would sincerely recommend this Hotel to my friends and family. As an added bonus the resturant across the parking area was enjoyable, reasonable, and had a beautiful view when dining. The room was TINY! The pool was ice cold. Both ice machines in the hotel were broken and not repaired. There was one soda machine that was out of 80% of the contents. The staff was very helpful if they could be. The free breakfast was in a tiny little room and looked terrible. So bad we decided to go to a restaurant. The shower had to pressure. This hotel is about 12 miles outside of Galena IL and 5 miles from the Casinos in Dubuque IA. It's on a golf course so it had alot of golfer, and wedding guests during our stay.Overall a pretty quit stay. Rooms and Hallways were clean and very basically decorated. Kingsize bed was comfortable and many of the rooms had balconies, most rooms appeared […] to be accessed from the interior hallways, but some rooms on one wing might have had outside entry doors For the money spent ( less than 70.00/ nite) this was a perfect hotel. The pool, hottub and steam sauna were clean and well maintained and open 7AM-10PM. They served a continental breakfast with waffle maker. If you're there during Sunday Brunch go accross the parking lot to Timmerman's Supper Club (classic 1960's),for a great Brunch it rivalled the high class hotel Brunches and nearly half the price, you won't be dissapointed.
