Americas Best Value Inn - Stonington

The Americas Best Value Inn in Stonington, CT is bad. I have been traveling in business for over 20 years and this is at thebottom of my list of hotels. First of all the directions that the website gave were not specific at all and when I did mapquest I was 15 miles out of my way. Upon arrival I could not understand the person at the counter, she just […] gave me a key and pointed to the direction of the room. The room was so small that I could barely walk between the bed and the desk, I am five feet ten and 180 lbs so I am a small person. The TV had 6 channels at best and not very clear. The shower was small with not much hot water pressure. The water from the sink was a brownish color coming out until I let it run awhile. This hotel is "you get what you pay for" Please stay away from this hotel. There are much better hotels at exit 90 off of I-95 both north and south. Mehr

this Hotel should take out of your list the building stink, when you arrive to the room not heater on after you turn the heat on it never even warm in the whole night I will never go to that hotel not even free also, when you arrive they just leave the key in the mail box nobody is there to take care the customers

WE CHECKED INTO OUR ROOM TO FIND A VERY MUSTY SMELL. I OPENED THE WINDOWS THAT WEREN'T PAINTED SHUT WHICH DIDN'T HELP MUCH. SINCE THE WINDOWS WERE OPEN WE AWOKE TO A WOMAN SCREAMING COMMANDS AT HER EXERCISE STUDIO NEXT DOOR. I CAN SAY I WOULD EVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN!

this was the worst motel I have ever stayed at, it smelled like mold and mildew, there were spider webs all over the place. I would never recommed it! The only reason we stayed was because it was very late and we couldn't drive anymore and we were in the middle of nowhere. We slep for a few hours and left and finally stopped itchying!

This motel has the potential to be great - great location, pleasant exterior, well-lit. However, when we opened the door, the overpowering smell of Mold and mildew hit us like a brick, even with the windows open it didn't help. I will say, however the beds were clean and comfortable when we got to a room without the overpowering mold odor.

This place isn't as scarey as other reviewers make it out to be. Yes, it needs updating and outdoor maintenance, but the rooms, bathroom and sheets were clean which is very important to me. Also, the beds in our two-bedroom suite were extremely comfortable. Good for an overnight stay or long weekend.

This hotel was fine. It was 7.5 miles from the RI beaches and very inexpensive. Nothing fancy, but had good a/c, was clean. Very simple. Sleep and shower for little money, which is what we wanted.

The bathroom & Shower is very small. - Minus It is located close to the casinos. - plus The room we stayed in would not be good for a family or large man. - Minus The staff was very Nice - Plus. Not close to any food. - minus

We were quite disappointed in the service of this hotel. We arrived late Sunday afternoon and did not receive clean towels or have the dirty ones removed till Tuesday. Even the trash cans were not emptied a couple times during our stay. There was no ice machine available to us. I specifically called the customer service line to request a king size bed […] and we ended up with two queen beds. I would not recommend this hotel to my friends or stay here in the future. Mehr

Easy to find, Very clean, and comfortable, Not a luxery hotel, small bathroom, but met our needs. we only spent about 1 hour in the room, other than sleeping. A little far from the ocean for what we were looking for.

please do not believe the description - its a motel not an inn with several problems - shabby stained bed linens, challenged dripping air conditioner, nonworking internet and the smell in the stairway to room ugh! Worse hotels.com is the hotel manager tried to con us into paying again

based on the previous reviews I hesitated to stay here, but the price was right. Turns out my bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and the tv, the remote, the AC and the fridge worked. That's pretty much all I ask. It's not the Taj Mahal but it wasnt all that bad either.

We were very disappointed with the maintenance of the rooms. Our room had an awful moldy, stuffy, unclean odor. My husband had some difficulty with his breathing and we had to airate the room for a few hours before closing the doors. The bathroom was very small.Blankets on beds were extremely cheap and rough. We had to clean the air conditioner filter. […] When we went to get ice the office management claimed the ice machine broke down and they had no ice. althugh there was a very pretty gazebo it the chairs were unkept and dirty. we were very displeased we will not return to that place!!!!!!!! For the price of a night this place should be kept clean and not smelling moldy and unkempt. There is no service. Our room was on the parking lot level and felt very unsafe. We were traveling with our 5 year old and felt this place should have a warning... not suitable for kids. There is nothing but old musty rooms and street noise. The area around […] it is decent and the hotel motel has potential but keepers keep it very unkept. We were afraid to use the shower because it was so disgusting and moldy. Not a particularly clean place. Also, not close to Foxwoods. I don't recommend it.
