Affinia Manhattan - New York

Wer sehr empfindlich ist (Lautstärke) sollte ein anderes Hotel wählen. Feuerwehr direkt daneben und die Armenküche. Dadurch ist der Geräuschpegel sehr hoch

Für unseren einwöchigen Trip nach NYC war das in den Zimmern komplett renovierte Hotel perfekt. Direkt gegenüber des Madison Square Garden (ca. 500 m zum Times Square) gelegen, hatten wir uns bereits nach 1 Nacht an die Geräuschkulisse der 7. Ave gewöhnt. Aktuell wird die Fassade renoviert, was zu heftiger Lautstärke in der Woche ab 09:00 führt. Die […] gebuchte Suite war für uns ideal (2 Erw / 2 Ki) und sehr geräumig. Einzig das Bad ist extrem klein. Eine bequeme Schlafcouch im WZ, jeweils ein großer Plasma-TV im WZ und im SZ sowie ein Schreibtisch haben für Komfort gesorgt. Kl. Kitchenette mit allem, was man braucht. Nettes Personal am Check-in. Einzig negativ ist, dass bei einem doch hochpreisigen Hotel WLAN teuer dazugebucht werden muss. So kostet der Tag $ 14,95 und die Woche $ 62,95. Der Preis gilt je User und nicht pro Zimmer. Wir haben uns dann mit dem free-WiFi im Dunkin Donut (unten im Gebäude) bzw. mit einem der unzäligen Starbucks oder McD beholfen. Beim nächsten Trip werden wir dieses Hotel wieder buchen!! Mehr

Wir hatten eine tolle suite, die komplett neu renoviert war. Super schon und vor allen dingen sehr sauber. Die lage am madison square garden ist ideal. Das hotel koennen wir unbedingt empfehlen.

das Hotel liegt optimal Midtown fürs Sightseeing-Programm für New York Erstlinge, sehr gute Anbindung zur Subway Penn-Station. Hervoragende Hilfe durch den Concierge-Service im Eingangsbereich bei Fragen, Reservierungen oder Tipps.

Für 4 Sterne ein etwas schmuddeliges Bad ansonsten aber durchaus i.O. Fähiger Concierge, nettes Personal, von der Lage direkt gegenüber Madison Square Garden und Penn-Station ganz zu schweigen. W-Lan für amerikanische Vehältnisse etwas teuer (nicht umsonst).

Das Hotel Affinia Manhattan hat uns sehr gut entsprochen. Einer der vielen positiven Punkte ist die sehr gute Lage mit bester Anbindung an das Subway und Busnetz von Manhattan. Der Empfang war sehr freundlich und der gesamte Aufenthalt sehr gut. Die Zimmergröße war super, eine kleine Küche war mit dabei. Das Badezimmer war sehr klein, aber sehr funktionell, […] mit allem was dazugehört. Großer Kleiderschrank, TV, Bügeleisen, Bügelbrett, Schreibtisch, Kommoden, Sessel, gute Betten, Safe, viele Steckdosen (Adapter nicht vergessen) - einfach alles da. Etwas verbrauchter Teppichboden. Auschecken problemlos. Unser Zimmer lag im 19. Stock mit genügendem Ausblick und für New York sogar nicht mal so laut. Die Klimaanlage war gut t zu regeln, aber laut. Insgesamt 7 Aufzüge für die Gäste sind vorhanden. Die Rezeption und der Informationsschalter waren immer besetzt. Die Koffer konnten nach dem auschecken sicher und kostenfrei deponiert werden. Super zentral gelegen. kurzer Fussweg zu Macys, Madison Square Garden und Times Square entfernt. U Bahn Penn Station nebenan. Fühlten uns gut aufgehoben im Hotel Affina Manhatten!

Im Vergleich zu andern Hotel relativ günstig. Grosszügige Zimmer mit zwar ziemlich verbrauchten Möbeln. Jedoch sauber und Betten waren neuwertig. Die Nächte waren sehr lärmig (Strassenbau direkt unter dem Zimmer von Mitternacht bis fünf Uhr morgens!). Würden trotzdem wieder dort logieren, je nach Preisofferte.

We stayed for 5 nights, after receiving a good rate from hotel.com. The hotel is very pleasant. Small, comfortable rooms (the pillow menu and the Philosophy soaps are a nice touch.) The hotel itself is quiet, although the neighborhood is noisy, with a lot of sirens and inexplicable chanting and cheering from 10 PM to 1 AM coming from (I think) Madison […] Square Garden. Close to the subway, so you can come and go easily. Internet is expensive but if you have two computers with you, ask and they will charge for one only. The neighborhood does not have great restaurants but there is a take-out place called Fresh at 30th Street that has good prepared foods. The in-house restaurant isn't good, but isn't bad, either. I would stay here again if I got a similar rate. Mehr

The staff was very helpful. Computers were down when we arrived and we were upgraded to a full suite for our patience. We reported a light bulb burned out and it was replaced while we were at dinner. The linens were lovely.......a very good stay and we would recommend this hotel.

Hotel Affinia Manhattan was a very good location and a good rate. The hotel lobby is very nice and the service was prompt and courteous. We arrived a bit early and they were nice enough to upgrade us one room level so we could check in at that time. The room itself was OK. Size was small, but not too cramped. It had a nice desk/work area off to the […] side. However, the bathroom was tiny and dated. Just about impossible for two people to even be in there at the same time. Pleasantly surprised. Staff was very accommodating. Hotel is old, but redecorated rooms and comfortable beds and pillows helped. Suite was spacious, and water pressure in the shower was excellent. A very good value. Only negative - room was too hot!

The hotel staff was wonderful. The hotel location was noisy at night, making it difficult to sleep. Lot's of yelling outside, near the train station. All in all, a decent experience.

Not from NY. Hotel interior was recently remodeled. Smallest rooms are very small but functional. Bathroom is very small. Windows are single pane allowing noise from the street. Fire station and police station within a block creating a lot of noise through the night. One light bulb was burnt out on move in, hot and cold were reversed in the shower, […] a wheel broke off of the desk chair and was removed my housekeeping but was never replaced. The hotel was clean and staff very professional. However, it was much older than was portrayed on website. Room had a window/wall unit with an air conditioner in it and very cold air came through all night long. Plus, it allowed a great deal of noise to come in to the room, especially sirens every 2 minutes (hotel is very close to fire station).

It was great to walk out of Penn Station and literally see our hotel diagonally across the street. The hotel is conveniently located near several subway stations so getting around was easy. The hotel itself is beautiful and clean. Our room was the perfect size for my husband and I to room comfortably. I would definitely stay at this hotel again should […] we return to NYC. Mehr

There is nothing like getting off the train at Penn Station and walking across the street to a nice hotel. Very convenient, courteous staff and clean and nicely designed hotel

I HAD BUSINESS IN CITY. THE HOTEL WAS CLEAN AND SUITED MY NEEDS. I WOULD COME BACK FOR FUTURE DATES.

I stayed at the Affinia Manhattan for one night for a trade show at Javits. Here's what I liked: modern rooms, great location (diagonally located across 7th ave entrance to 7th Ave), no bed bugs reported on bed bug registry (big PLUS). Here what I didn't dig: the front revolving door (only way in/out) moved at a snail's pace; the lobby looked pretty […] darn beat and far beyond it's glory; the carpets in the halls were dirty/tattered and the rooms were INCREDIBLY hot (I know...it's January but 80-degrees was the norm...not the exception..even when I turned the heat off). I heard from a colleague that was also staying that the Affinia Manhattan is doing a face-lift in the lobby and general areas (hallways) so they may get a pass. I'll stay again if it's an overnight trip (quick in/out) but if it's a longer business trip I'll go for comfort and take the Belleclaire in upper West side. Mehr

Our stay at the Affinia Manhattan was a delight! From the 2 minute walk from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden to the warm greeting by the front desk staff to the call we received 10 minutes after we got to our room to see if everything was satisfactory got everything off to a good start. And it got better from there. Our room was newly decorated […] and immaculately clean, and the 20% discount on the hotel restaurant made our choice for dinner after our late arrival a no-brainer. Our surprise was that the hotel restaurant food was as good as anything we had during our entire stay. The concierge was friendly and helpful, and every staff member we encountered greeted us and wished us a pleasant day. The in-room refrigerator was a nice plus, and the choice of pillows made us feel truly welcome. When a lightbulb burned out, our call to housekeeping was answered in 10 minutes! Affinia is generally a great experience, but this hotel has long way to go. HVAC systems and elevator service is substandard. Most of all, we ordered a light snack for room service. The guy fielding the call was unintelligible and after the food didn't arrive we called back to room service...no answer. So we called the front desk and they said they'd […] get right on it. When they called back, they stated that there was no order from our room. Note, they didn't offer to find out what we wanted and get it delivered pronto, they just said there was no order. Also, the surroundings of the hotel include a homeless shelter and the facade and lobby are going to be under renovation so make sure you check to see what you are in for. Very disappointing. Mehr

Hotel was fine except my room was freezing. Cold air came in from the cracks around the air conditioner in the window. The thermostat did not adjust when I tried to increase the temp. Other than that, no complaints. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The location is great--just across from Penn Station. My first room was right on 7th […] Ave., which I found to be too noisy, so I moved to a quieter room. Mehr

I was skeptical about staying there because it is close to Penn Station but is a real find! It is close to several train stations, Macy's and exceptionally clean with a very modern, nice decor. They even give you options of pillows that can help you get a good nights sleep! Lastly they have a nice, swanky bar restaurant you can go to and get a quick […] bite or sexy cocktail. I would most definitely recommend this hotel to friends. Great location, adorable rooms, comfortable beds, great staff . . . a perfect combo! The rooms are a little loud as you may read in other reviews, but after the first night, you don't notice! The location is amazing. Subways on every corner near the hotel, easy walking distance to times square, […] etc. and such lovely rooms. Small, but lovely:) Very stylish and unique! We can't wait to come back! Mehr

After a bit of rough start - freezing rooms due to renos that placed air conditioning units in one of the windows that let the windy, cold 22 F air into the room - could not get the room over 60 F. It was fixed by dinner but we still had to crank the heat to 90F to achieve a comfortable 70F. Then the next day and a half, the cable was lost in the hotel. […] We called again and the hotel staff were great - 2 mornings of breakfast for six. The hotel is beautiful and as central as anything you can find in Manhattan. With age, comes maintenance so we don't hold the staff with the problems encountered. Bad luck? Not sure, but I'd hate to be the hotel's plant engineer. I love New York (but only as a friend) Mehr

Recently renovated, very good value for the size and comfort of the rooms

The Affinia Manhattan was located in the perfect spot! It was literally RIGHT across the street from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. After a show at the Garden, it was nice to just walk across the street to get back to our room! The hotel’s restaurant provided a nice atmosphere and the food was pretty good. We also used the restaurant for room […] service. Times Square and 42nd street were only a few blocks away. Even with the cold temperatures, the walk was quite pleasant. Along the way there are many restaurants, retail stores and of course, the “People Show!” The One Bedroom Suite was smaller than I expected. The beds were not in a separate room, but it was comfortable enough. Also, the shower curtain was clear, which was a bit odd, but we made do. Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Very Good hotel for the price, friendly staff unlike every other hotel I have stayed at in NYC. Fire station next door to hotel so as for a room not facing the street if you want a little piece and quiet

We chose the Affinia Manhattan, based on reviews and price (it was a lot cheaper than other hotels around Christmastime). We also trained in to Penn Station from Virgina, with two small children in tow, and figured it'd be easier to stay nearby. That was the case, we literally walked out of Penn Station and crossed the street in to the hotel, which […] was great, however, the surrounding neighborhood (Harold Square) is insanely busy and not a nice place to be. I am an ex-NYer, so I already knew this, but since it wasn't a place I ever went myself, I didn't know the extent of how crazy it was. We would have rather stayed downtown or uptown in a quieter part of the city and will go that route next time. The hotel was nice and the room was lovely. It was an interior room, so you didn't get the constant street noise, however it did back up to the elevator shafts, so we heard the hum of the elevators from time to time. I called the desk and asked for another room and they offered to move us for the remainder of our trip, however by the first night, we were used to the sounds and stayed with the room. It was fine. The room was clean and large for NYC standards. The bathroom is small, but clean, cute and functional. Overall, it was a good stay, I just wish it was in a quieter part of town. Mehr

Everything was done to make our stay in the Affinia the best possible! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, the rooms had just been refubished and were very comfortable and spacious. We loved the pillow menu! We were about 10-15 minutes walk from Times Square and a few minutes from Maceys. Overall we were very happy with the hotel and our stay.I was very pleased with the size of the room, living area, and kitchen. With two children this was a nice luxury to find at an affordable rate during the Christmas Season. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. I reserved this hotel for a couple of my employees and did it on Hotels.com so the room would be pre-paid. They brought the confirmation to the front desk at check in but had to put down a credit card for incidentals and ended up being charge for the room too so we ended up paying twice. So easy to get to - diagonally opposite Penn Station so handy for coming in from Newark on airtrain. 2 streets from Macy's and Empire State, and Penn subway station gives access to the whole of the city easily. We had a two-bed suite with kitchenette, which has recently been refurbished, and had a flatscreen telly and ipod dock. Beds were ace, and you […] can choose from 6 different pillows for your comfort. You get what you pay for - not the cheapest but was really what I wanted for the price. It is near a fire station so was occasionally woken by sirens, but who stays in a city centre hotel and expects a silent night? Mehr
