Affinia Manhattan - New York

One could not control the temperature in the room and we would get too hot then cold. It took awhile to get the ice and we needed it right away.

Upon check in, we were upgraded to a one room suite. The room was incredible, and the staff was knowledgable, and very friendly. We could see Madison Square Garden from our room. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family.

Absolutely great. The room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom small, but expected in New York City. Walking distance to Times Square, Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building. Safe...safe...safe. Parked my car and did't have one care. Could not ask for more.

Room was a good size, bathroom was super small which was crazy because the room had a huge kitchen and a closet that was easily three times the size of the bathroom. Decor was nice, hallways looked a tad dingy. For the convinence to MSG it's good, and the beds were comfy....it's a 50/50 split on how I feel about the place.

Room was quire small, but very efficient and tasteful. Room temp was very cold and uncontrollable, but was corrected promptly by engineering. Apparently the heat in hotel was off due to high temps outside. Ideal location for attending Garden events. Late night bar scene was fun. Bartender poured a generous single malt.

The Staff were courteous and efficient from the first minute. Accommodations were well above normal and the location could not be better. We needed to take a train to Boston and the Penn Station was across the road from the Hotel. Wheeled our bags across the street, no taxi necessary! Awesome stay! Will definitely return for another stay.

We stayed at the Affinia Manhattan Hotel for one night for our wedding anniversary. It is a wonderful hotel and a great spot in Manhattan - right across the street from Madison Square Garden and right near Macys! The room was huge for Manhattan standards. We wound up going for a little splurge because it was a special occasion and went for the junior […] suite. Well it was really nice. It even had a full kitchenette! The only problem we had was that the room was really warm. I had the thermostats turned off but the heat was still on. I contacted the front desk and they had maintenance come within 15 minutes and he was able to manually turn off the heat. I then asked him about the window air conditioner and he turned it on for us, even though it was the beginning of March! He was very helpful. Another thing this hotel needs is a little updating of the lobby / elevator area, but everything was super clean. Highly recommend! Mehr

Our second visit to this hotel and it was even better this time around. Right across the street from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station. Our room was reconditioned and attractively furnished. Both times we had a small kitchenette with fridge which we loved. The icing on the cake was that they are a pet friendly hotel so we got to take our poodle […] to times square. He had a great time and was quite an attraction to the many tourists! Strongly recommend. Especially if you are attending an event at The Garden. Mehr

Rooms are small, but very clean and comfortable. Everything has modernized and the space flows nicely. GREAT beds - we had a good nights sleep> I would definitely recommend it - close to shopping, sites and transportation

Great location for a traveler and/or tourists. Across the street from Penn Station. Nothing special or spectacular with this hotel, but it was clean, and the staff was friendly and helpful. No complaints.

Location was awesome. Room was small but very clean and cute. Looked like something out of an IKEA catalog. It was walking distance to MSG and on a spring or summer day/night you could walk to times square. I'm always cold so not an option for me. There were no ice machines which I thought was odd but they brought some to the room. I would stay here […] again. Mehr

Overall our stay was great, the hotel is literally a few minutes away from Time Square. Also the room was clean and nice my only concern is that there is no hotel parking which my guest and I had to pay over $45/ day also there were no hotel accommodations like a swimming pool or complamentary breakfast.

Was dissappointed in terms of the pricing! The pictures on the website are deceiving. My room smelt of smoke and a whole lot of noise going on through the night from outside the hotel. All in all, I had a very average experience but wont stay there again. did'nt the neighbourhood at all except for the fact that it was in walking distance to the Jacob […] Jawitz Centre Mehr

We stayed in this hotel in February 2012 for 4 nights. On arrival we had been upgraded to a Deluxe room. The room was spacious and spotless, although bathroom was a little small. We requested a higher room with a view and the next day, the hotel had arranged for our suitcases to be moved to the new room which was fabulous, we overlooked Madison Square […] Garden so watching the taxis/Limos after a big game was an experience in itself. All the staff at the hotel were really helpful and friendly. We didn't eat at all in the hotel so cannot comment on this. We also didn't pay the extra $15 per night for internet use. There were so many Starbucks with free wifi we just used this instead!!! The location for us was perfect. The ideal base to explore the sights of New York. We walked everywhere during our stay, just one journey on the subway after a long day in the Financial District. Time Square, Broadway and the Empire State Building were 15 minutes walk away, Madison Square Garden was directly opposite and Macy's department store less than 5 minutes walk away. We had an amazing trip to New York, and was so nice at the end of the long days to come back to such a lovely room. Mehr

Excellent hotel. Very clean, friendly staff, beautiful room, very nice bathroom. I will stay here again!

Old world charm with modern day conveniences. An added benefit is that it is convenient to most of the NYC sights, and the transit system. It is a hidden gem.

Great service, fantastic room, friendly and helpful, very clean. FANTASTIC LOCATION!! Kitty corner to Madison Square Garden......perfect for events. Will definitely stay again.

Room was clean, bed comfortable the pillows were great. Smallest shower I have ever seen in a hotel room......

It was a larger room from most hotels. Front desk staff was nice and accommodating. They charged the room with no problem when I requested an upgrade.

We have been staying in the Affinia each time we've visited NY over the past 6 years and it has continued to surprise us as it goes from strength to strength. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff has always impressed us and has remained constant over all the years. Now that it has recently been refurbished it has a super boutique feel to it, […] with flat screen TVs in the rooms and modern wall papers and deco in the rooms. Log on to the website for very accurate photos of the rooms. The rooms are large and very spaceous by NY general standards. Bathrooms and showers are a little small but relative to the room size but are still more than adequate. Cleanliness is always excellent. On several occasions we have been pleasently suprised by being upgraded to a higher standard room than we had actually booked. Nice rewards policy. We often book a studio suite which means that we have a kitchenette and sofa area in the room - very handy for breakfast or mid-night snacks at a time that suits you! The beds are very comfy and although in the centre of Manhattan we have never had a big problem with traffic noise. We are Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts fans and love that one is across the road from the Affinia and the other around the corner! It is very central to all tourist attractions and just across the road from Penn Station. We are from Ireland and have 'befriended' some of the Irish staff in the hotel, even non-irish staff have attempted a few words of irish with us - nice home from home feel. This hotel consistently delivers and we recommend it without hesitation. Enjoy............ Mehr

Modern clean boutique hotel, great location opposite Madison square gardens and short walk straight down 7th Avenue to maceys and times square!

It was a beautiful experience staying at hotel affinia I highly recommend this hotel the service was outstanding and the food was great. I look forward to my next stay at this hotel

Everything is pretty good except that the Wally's really thin. I could hear clearly what's going on upstairs

We stayed for 5 nights, after receiving a good rate from hotel.com. The hotel is very pleasant. Small, comfortable rooms (the pillow menu and the Philosophy soaps are a nice touch.) The hotel itself is quiet, although the neighborhood is noisy, with a lot of sirens and inexplicable chanting and cheering from 10 PM to 1 AM coming from (I think) Madison […] Square Garden. Close to the subway, so you can come and go easily. Internet is expensive but if you have two computers with you, ask and they will charge for one only. The neighborhood does not have great restaurants but there is a take-out place called Fresh at 30th Street that has good prepared foods. The in-house restaurant isn't good, but isn't bad, either. I would stay here again if I got a similar rate. Mehr

The staff was very helpful. Computers were down when we arrived and we were upgraded to a full suite for our patience. We reported a light bulb burned out and it was replaced while we were at dinner. The linens were lovely.......a very good stay and we would recommend this hotel.

Hotel Affinia Manhattan was a very good location and a good rate. The hotel lobby is very nice and the service was prompt and courteous. We arrived a bit early and they were nice enough to upgrade us one room level so we could check in at that time. The room itself was OK. Size was small, but not too cramped. It had a nice desk/work area off to the […] side. However, the bathroom was tiny and dated. Just about impossible for two people to even be in there at the same time. I rated the hotel 4 based ostly on location an service. With a "normal" sized bathroom, it would have been 5. Mehr

Pleasantly surprised. Staff was very accommodating. Hotel is old, but redecorated rooms and comfortable beds and pillows helped. Suite was spacious, and water pressure in the shower was excellent. A very good value. Only negative - room was too hot!

The hotel staff was wonderful. The hotel location was noisy at night, making it difficult to sleep. Lot's of yelling outside, near the train station. All in all, a decent experience.

Not from NY. Hotel interior was recently remodeled. Smallest rooms are very small but functional. Bathroom is very small. Windows are single pane allowing noise from the street. Fire station and police station within a block creating a lot of noise through the night. One light bulb was burnt out on move in, hot and cold were reversed in the shower, […] a wheel broke off of the desk chair and was removed my housekeeping but was never replaced. The hotel was clean and staff very professional. However, it was much older than was portrayed on website. Room had a window/wall unit with an air conditioner in it and very cold air came through all night long. Plus, it allowed a great deal of noise to come in to the room, especially sirens every 2 minutes (hotel is very close to fire station).

It was great to walk out of Penn Station and literally see our hotel diagonally across the street. The hotel is conveniently located near several subway stations so getting around was easy. The hotel itself is beautiful and clean. Our room was the perfect size for my husband and I to room comfortably. I would definitely stay at this hotel again should […] we return to NYC. Mehr

There is nothing like getting off the train at Penn Station and walking across the street to a nice hotel. Very convenient, courteous staff and clean and nicely designed hotel

I HAD BUSINESS IN CITY. THE HOTEL WAS CLEAN AND SUITED MY NEEDS. I WOULD COME BACK FOR FUTURE DATES.
