Affinia Dumont - New York

I was surprised how much room we had . Lot's of closet space .

Studio room was reasonably priced and quite spacious. Good bed, not noisy, relatively clean. But the room is a bit dim and the blinds are awkward and not fully adjustable to let in daylight. Murray Hill location is very convenient while more pleasant for a weekend than Midtown.

Room and view were spectacular!!

Hotel is well suituated- however on my stay I reported 2 small issues with the room - nothing was done. Also the hotel was renewing all beds and some carpet so the front of the hotel was covered in new and old mattresses - not a great advert . overal 3 star hotel - lack of free wireless in the room was astonishing

I like the Dumont and have stayed there often (about 10 visits to NY). It is convenient with nice rooms. This particular stay they upgraded us and we didn't even ask. I really like the location as there are a ton of restaurant choices near by. Easy access to the subway. Two suggested improvements are first free wi-fi availability in the rooms. You […] can get wi-fi in the lobby, but it is a pain to go down there to use my iPad. Secondly, rooms (especially) suites should have umbrellas in the closet. have stayed here before. great room size for nyc. walking distance to empire state and attractions. hotel staff helpful and accommodating. we remember having the same doorman the last time we stayed!! full size fridge, stove, etc in separate kitchenette- bonus!!

We stayed at the Affinia for 2 nights. We were surprised at how spacious the room was. We were on the 17th floor so we did not here the street noise. The hotel is in a great location. You can walk to the new High Line Park. The staff was very nice and helpful. My only minor complaint is you have to pay for internet.

Nice hotel with very comfortable room, and very clean, too

Clean hotel conveniently located in East midtown of Manhattan. Far enough East so that FDR Highway is readily accessible without becoming trapped in midtown traffic. Staff was courteous and professional. Room was quiet and nicely appointed. Free wi-fi was a nice touch. Will definitely return.

I can only say very good and very nice hotel. Excellent staff and facilities. I definitely would choose this hotel again

We've stayed at the Affinia Dumont many times and each time we get a different room-all are very nice, clean and with great ammenities. Front desk personnel friendly and helpful, elevators are FAST which makes staying on the 34th bfloor even nicer than just the great view. Will always stay when we're in the city!

Room supposed to be non-smoking, but smelled w stale smoke. Hard to keep to control room temperature. Otherwise very good. Will stay again.

Loved this hotel! Room was very nice and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They even gave me a complimentary upgrade when they saw that I was my birthday (I was in the city celebrating with friends). I would definitely recommend this hotel to others. The food next door at the Barking Dog is really good too! The hotel is in a good […] location where you can get to many attractions by just the subway, a taxi or walking but are you not in the crowded, congested part of the city. Mehr

Comfortable beds, large room size, full bar offerings in the room at reasonable prices. Walk to many attractions and they are always helpful with hailing a cab. Downsides are you have to pay for the wifi internet. Decent gym facilities and a full service spa downstairs. Def stay here again.

I love this hotel and the neighborhood is a nice combination of central but also having lots of options for dining nearby. My only complaint is that it didn't have wifi which was a major inconvenience since I had brought my iPad, but the front door staff said it was coming in May.

We had a very nice stay, the room was large for NYC and the staff was friendly and helpful. We did read some negative comments about the shampoo and products in the room and would have to agree that the smell was not appealing and I smelled the "wet dog" odor that others had also noticed after using the shampoo and conditioner.

We had a great stay and we would definitely stay again. Very spacious. Clean room. Quick service.

The Affinia Dumont is a great hotel to stay at as it is well kept and very clean. The beds are extremely comfortable, as are the pillows. We were on the 14th floor and had great views as well. The only downfall to our stay was the constant fire/police sirens starting at roughly 4am, which was not the fault of the hotel. Also, it would be a 5 start […] stay if they had adequate sunlight filters to make the room darker. Have stayed in very expensive hotels in NY, and this one tops all in convenience, price and general likeability! Gym/spa is an added plus!

Our room was very spacious and comfortable. I think it was bigger, and with the kitchenette included provided much better value than most NYC hotels. We weren't more than a $7 cab ride into the heart of downtown/Times Square/theatre district etc., and it was nice to be somewhere a little quieter, with good neighbourhood restaurants etc. We could also […] walk to the Subway about 3 blocks away. Got a great rate from hotels.com and so even though it wasn't exactly in the location I wanted, it was walking distance to lots of shops, restaurants, etc. A safe area and not too far to walk to Macy's, Empire State Bldg, Grand Central, the UN, etc. Second and Third Avenues are full of restaurants, and the hotel has a quite decent restaurant attached […] to it, the Barking Dog. There is no wifi and the ethernet connection runs $13.95/day. For a room with a view, ask for a room above the 20th floor (37 floors). Kitchenette was clean, bed was fine (not exceptional) with crisp clean sheets, lighting was good. Heating was a bit difficult to regulate and windows were hard to open. Mehr

This hotel was beautiful and well located, but I've never been someplace that seemed to relish the opportunity to gouge their patrons @ every turn. On hotels.com, it says that it's pet friendly and that parking is included. When I arrived there @ 1am, exhausted from a 12 hr drive, they informed me that I'd be charged an arm and a leg to keep my dog […] there for the night, as well as the remaining arm and leg to park my car there. When I went up to my room, there were no phonebooks or menus for local places to eat, but price tags on EVERYTHING. No complimentary internet, and the concierge was totally useless. When I called in to ask for directions, I received a series of giggles and "I dunno!"s, which I could have dismissed as sheer ignorance if it hadn't been her response to every single question i asked during my stay there. What places might be open for delivery at that hour, what time checkout was, where the valet was taking my car, etc. I get that it's NYC and it's expensive but I've been to this city a million times and have never had such a negative experience before. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Mehr

The front desk was great. Staff prompt and very helpful. The bed was exremely hard, I was really disapointed and couldn't sleep for the 3 nights we were there. Our last night was a Saturday night, and the room next to us was full of girls that were extremely loud!!! The connecting door was locked, but we could hear absolutely everything. They were so […] loud, and I had to call the front desk to ask for a fan to help drown out their noise. Housekeeping showed up right away with a fan and asked if everything was ok, I told her I just wanted to drown out the noise from next door. Mehr

This is a very nice hotel...a terrific value for New York. Small kitchen in suite (we upgraded and glad that we did) is a plus for convenience, etc. Staff were very accomodating. Concierge was most helpful...David...very knowedgeable about the city, etc. This was our fourth stay at one of the Affinia Hotels in New York City....we will stay at one a […] gain. Mehr

Very clean and plenty of room. Hotel staff was excellent. Had a great view of the city at night. We stay in N.Y. city at lest 3 to 5 times a year. This hotel had excellent location, price was a deal for a room with a kitchen.

This hotel was wonderful. The rooms were quite large by New York Standards. The hotel room very clean and the staff attentive. Great location and the market on the corner was a great addition.

All the affinia hotels in manhattan have great rooms and fantastic service. Thanx

everything was great... clean, big rooms nice staff, and Murray Hill is such a nice area!

The Affinia Dumont was more than what I expected. The location was good because there were many eateries within walking distance of the hotel & there was a huge supermarket nearby. It was a 10 min walk to the Empire State Bldg & the shopping belt so we did not have to take public transport. We managed to walk to & from the hotel. The room was big with […] lots of closet space & the kitchen was really convenient. We could microwave food & store drinks in the big refrigerator. It was very comfortable & spacious. The staff were helpful & accomodating. They allowed me to check in when I arrived at the hotel at 7 am. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay & I would recommend this hotel to any person going to New York. Mehr

We had a one bedroom suite, roomy and comfortable, the furniture could sometimes be refreshed though. Nice kitchen, very comfortable beds and pillows, small bathroom. We did not have much of a view, being only on the 10th floor with a backyard view, yet it was very quiet and silent for New York. This suite is perfect when you have children with you. […] Ask for upper levels. The neighbourhood is very convenient, Murray Hill dinner for simple, convenient food, and good breakfast, The Barking Dog Café is quite nice for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and at the corner of Lexington and 34th there is a nice Thai restaurant. The Murray Hill market is at the corner for groceries, and the subway station very close. Overall, a good and convenient hotel. Mehr

I am very satisfied with Affinia Dumont. The small of the hotel is perhaps one one the best things, it smells like a spa, a slight fruity fragrance not at all overwhelming. My husband and I traveled with my 5 year old son and 13 year old daughter, we stayed in a 1 bedroom suite on the 24th floor. The room was spacious with a small kitchenette. The hotel […] was nicely located with several good restaurants and a few coffee shops within one block either way. There is also a great corner store a few steps away with an array of yummy food and any items you may need to pick up on your stay. Mehr

Loved the room and the view! The staff went above and beyond in friendliness... The Barking Dog Restaurant (next door) came in handy and was a fun place to eat!!! Overall a great exsperience...
