"Nahe Flughafen"Bewertet von einem Hotels.com Gast am 2. Mai. 2012

Shanghai Museum, Grand Theatre, People's park und People's Square sind weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten in diesem Viertel.

"Charmantes Stadthotel in bester Lage"
"historisches Hotel in Shanghai"
"A really cool hotel"
It was great. Great location and great service. What is even more exciting to us is the rich history of the hotel: first electrical lighting, first tap water installation in China. A hotel visited by B Russell and Albert Eistein. This hotel has a lot of character. I suspect it will go up in scale in time as more people realize and appreciate how cool […] it is. The only strange thing to us was that I booked an executive suite for my family and a standard room for my parents. It turns out the executive room is in fact smaller and the standard room is much more spacious. The executive room has a view to the street and the bridge, but it was also a bit noisy. Mehr
"Lovely classic hotel"
Beautifully maintained 100 year old hotel with lots of character and history. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a large room. It was huge with seating, polished floor boards, walk-in closet and nice bathroom. Staff were ever helpful and courteous. 5 minute walk to the beginning of the Bund. I would recommend staying here if you want to experience […] a surviving bit of old colonial Shanghai. Mehr
"Hotel near to the bund~"
-it is a special hotel with celebrities stayed in before -staff are polite and friendly -executive room at level 2 is at its good condition and the walkway from bathroom to bed is spacious, applicable for those who needs space to pack things! -however, do note that the location is near the bund (one of the tourist attraction) but it is a bit of distance […] from the metro, say about 15mins to 20mins' walk? -our constant transportation is cab which is not expensive so it is still alrite. =) -overall, the stay at this hotel is a worthwhile one and it is a centralised location though it is fair bit of distance from metro. "Astor House Hotel Shanghai - Real Gem"
My wife and I stayed at the Astor House Hotel for 5 nights and we totally satisfied with the experience. Sure its not as flash as the Peninsula nor is it as expensive either in fact its very reasonably priced. If you want to hang around the Bund area and stay in a hotel with character this is the place to stay. Free Wi Fi and a great onsite cafe is […] a bonus, the only complaint I have is the breakfast isnt brilliant but just adequate for westerners taste. The coffee is very good though. cheers Mehr
"business and pleasure"
This is my second stay at this hotel and you cannot beat th elocation and value. Soak in the ambiance of the era and architectual details of the common spaces-looking past the TLS that they need. Once you get to the immaculate and well appointed rooms you will be hapy with your choise. Steps from the Bund a short 12 minute walk to the subway the location […] can't be beat. Skip the "bar" and other amenities afforded here. The surrounding area has much more to offer from that standpoint. Mehr

"Astor Hotel - by the bund"
What Astor Hotel lacks in terms of elaborate furnishings, it more than makes up for with its reasonable pricing and awesome location. Just minutes away from the Bund, you'll be treated to the sight of the famous Shanghai financial landscape. I'll highly recommend it for the great value and the great service by their staff.
"Great Classic Hotel"
This hotel is in the style of the Grand Hotels. It has a beautiful Ballroom with lots of stained Glass and chandeliers. This serves as the breakfast buffet room every morning, with at least 50 hot and cold items items to choose from and an omelet chief to prepare to your order. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The subway is a 10 minute […] walk, the bund is just across the bridge. The staff is very helpful and every one we encountered spoke excellent English. I highly recommend this hotel . Mehr
"Strongly recommend to you!!"
I stayed the room that Einstein had stayed in 1920s. It was amazing!!! Every Furniture was so classic! Even the hallway just looks like the scene in the classic movies! It's not that far from Waitan, but little bit far from Subway Station on foot. Just It's worth it staying this Hotel!!
"Interesting hotel in good location"
I enjoyed the ambiance and the hotel's historical importance. Our room was comfortable and spacious. We had a good view of the Bund. Good value.
"Short stay"
We were staying for one night only, but the hotel is situated perfectly for the walks in the centre of the city. Nice and clean. We were very satisfied
"Historic hotel, spacious room close to Bund"
We very much enjoyed our stay at Astor House. It's a very historic hotel and our room was very spacious and comfortable. The common areas in the hotel could do with a refurbishment but our room was lovely and clean. We could walk along the Bund and we could walk to some markets and main streets, but I don't think this area of Shanghai is the most interesting. […] We took lots of taxis to and from the hotel. We had one meal/snack in the bar area downstairs which was pretty average food and the 'richards bar' is certainly not what it used to be, I imagine. I would recommend this hotel for the nice rooms - good value for the price. Mehr
"The Bund at one corner"
Excellent location. Staff helpfull, room comfortable and clean. Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay at the hotel.
Good hotel enjoy our stay in the hotel. Recommend
"Venerable, well located hotel"
We spent 6 nights at the Astor House Hotel late Dec. into early January 2012. It is a venerable hotel - reportedly the first "luxury" hotel in China built in the latter half of the 19th century. It is well located on the north end of the Bund. The hotel and rooms have had updates over the decades. Our room was comfortable with vintage furniture and […] heating that worked well. The bed mattress was reasonable but there was a sag in the middle of the bed. The bathroom was reasonably modern - the shower was good. Cable TV offered several English language channels including HBO. One complaint - a Chinese man in the room above us talked very loudly for about 90 minutes one evening (we assumed on the telephone) until about 10:30 pm. It was very annoying - If it had continued we would have asked the hotel to speak with him. Breakfast was included in the room rate and the good buffet offered both Chinese and Western food. Some suggestions to the hotel: 1) get better bread for breakfast; 2) there was no smoking in the breakfast room but there is not a "no smoking" area in the upstairs restaurant - we would not return there until one is established; and 3) it would be nice if the hotel would be willing to hold luggage for travelers (they told us their policy is to hold for one day only). We would return here. Mehr
"Astor House Hotel in Shanghai - good value"
This hotel is very good value for money. It is not a modern, plush establishment and guests need to climb rickety stairs to get to their rooms, but the rooms are big, airy and adequately heated. Reception staff is helpful and friendly. The only minus is the lack of a proper restaurant on the premises. There are overpriced outlets - a Wi-Fi bar and a […] coffeeshop. Location is great. An easy walk to The Bund. About 10-15 minutes walk to two Metro stations. Taxis are easy to come by. It is possible to board Hop-On-Hop-Off tour buses at the Bund. Mehr

"Historic hotel"
We stayed at the Astor House for 4 nights in early November 2011, in a celebrity room. The hotel is impressive because of its past grandeur and it’s fun to be in such a place. Obviously, it is not anymore a luxury hotel, but it is comfortable enough. Our room was very large, as was the bathroom. The furniture was probably the original one (except for […] the mattresses), and it added to the charm of the place. As previous reviewers said, it can be noisy when there are people talking in the hallways, but we were not inconvenienced since there was never anyone in the hallways. The room was clean. Breakfast was included in our rate. It was good, with a good variety of food, both Western and Chinese (maybe more Chinese). It is served in the ballroom, typical of the period and where there were weddings every afternoon during our stay. It is quite interesting to see the newlyweds and the wedding party. Not traditional Chinese, it seemed. The hotel is located at one end of the Bund. It is well located, but there are also other good locations in Shanghai. The choice of restaurants is limited in this area. If we were to go back, we would probably stay in the French Concession, for the choice of restaurants and nightlife. But we enjoyed our stay at the Astor House Hotel and would recommend it, as long as someone is not looking for a luxury 5-star hotel. Mehr
"Amazing potential!"
Astor House is the oldest western hotel in China and pre-dates the Peace Hotel by 9 years. It is a much more interesting hotel than the Peace Hotel and is ancient. I stayed for for four nights on the Executive Floor which is floor one in a fabulously decorated and very large room. But it is the room and the ambience and just wandering around this hotel […] that makes it worthwhile the stay. It is like living in a museum. Managed by the Chinese Government, it remains many old staff from a different culture who are pleasant but in-different to guest needs. The Executive Lounge is huge but its buffet features bowls of plastic flowers and two plates of sickly sweet biscuits. You can order free coffee or tea or pay for a beer or wine. Taken over by a hotel maagement company, this place could be splendid as - if you turn a blind eye to the food and service - it is. Mehr
"Historical Hotel located at the Bund"
Stayed 2 nights at the hotel. Booked the celebrity room originally, but did not like the condition of the room. Tattered and worn out sofa. Old non LCD TV. Changed to an Executive Room which was at the same price. The Executive room looks newer and has an internet TV. Large room, comfortable bed and nice fixtures. Centrally-controlled air-con. Hot water […] in the bathroom took a long time to heat up. I would imagine the bathroom to be really cold in winter due to the draft. Breakfast buffet is good with a lavish spread of eastern and western food. Location is not so ideal. Nearest subway is almost 20 minutes walk away. On the whole, stay in the hotel if you are interested in its historical aspect. Mehr
"Pleasantly surprised"
We wanted to experience a grand older style hotel and thought we would have to trade off comfort to do so. Not so. Staff and comfort levels were excellent... and of course the Astor itself is a gem.
"Astor house, nice big clean rooms."
Rooms are clean big and comfortable. Stayed 4 nights incl. breakfast and 2 nights without breakfast. Breakfast is nice; plenty to choose from.
"great, historic hotel"
lots of history and character throughout the hotel, courteous staff, good location. would definitely stay here again.
"Astor House Shanghai"
The hotel was very well situated and we liked the vintage feel of the hotel. We were, however, displeased to find out that although we had been told over the phone on a call from the US that the hotel would help us book train tickets when there, we found out that the service had been discontinued. We had to go to the train station to buy our own tickets. […] At every other hotel we stayed at in China, we were able to book train tickets through the Business Center, but this was a disappointment at the Astor House. Mehr
"Acceptable, Economical but a Bit Odd"
We – a retired couple – stayed at the Astor House for 4 nights in September 2011 and were satisfied with it, despite some reservations. The hotel is situated right at the north end of the Bund, just over a bridge that separates it from its glamorous neighbors. It is a very old 1840’s hotel that could use some serious refreshing, but it is passable and […] it is cheaper than other hotels in the immediate area. Our room was called a “Celebrity Room”; one of a cluster of older rooms, so-called because of famous people who had stayed there at one time (in our case, it was the Marconi room, after the radio inventor, who stayed there in the 1930’s). The room was immense, with dark-paneled walls throughout, and antique furniture – some of which – especially the leather chairs - needed replacement and the wooden floors were desperate for refinishing. It had a separate dressing room and a more modern bathroom. It claimed to overlook an atrium, but that space was an unattractive open area in the centre of the hotel where service and laundry staff seemed to congregate. The carved antique bed had a comfortable new mattress and the room was clean, if a little dark and worn. According to photos at the front desk, most rooms were somewhat more recently modernized and they seemed to be at one end of the hotel, while ours was down a seemingly endless set of hallways in an isolated wing of “vintage” rooms. En route you had to pass the bar, a hair salon, two sections of the massage service (in each of which staff invited you in; almost like soliciting) and a very dingy service area, where the doors were almost always uninvitingly left open. The bar and lobby café served very unappealing food, but the main ballroom (which seemed to have a wedding reception in it every night) was converted into a charming breakfast room each morning, where an excellent western and Chinese buffet was provided, with very attentive service by the staff. Front desk and front door staff spoke varying degrees of Mehr
"An enchanting piece of Colonial Shanghai"
The oldest hotel in China and certainly this is steeped in history. Not as glamorous as some, but the very original feel of the hotel makes this an interesting stay. Only major complaint would be the noise from the poorly insulated windows on the street facing rooms - which include the executive floor. Service is great with friendly and helpful staff. […] Very close to the Bund and major toursit attractions. Mehr

"Quirky hotel in a great location"
Staff were great, the location is awesome (just across the bridge to the Bund). The room was large but was not that soundproof (quite a lot of noise from the corridor on the first night). The buffet breakfast was good but the food in the cafe/coffee shop was pretty ordinary (bordering on bad) and expensive.
"not really recommend"
the location is no good, it needs more than 15 mins from the station. the room condition is not good too. maybe it has more than 100 years...... i can heard the sound very clearly from room outside...
"Historic and classy hotel that's affordable too."
Our stay here was very pleasant. The hotel might not be up to current 5-star standards, but that did not affect our enjoyment at all. We stayed in two different celebrity rooms (we moved from the first because we had noisy neighbors). The rooms were very spacious and had "old" leather furniture with character as well as hardwood floors. The breakfast […] buffet was good for China standards, and the ballroom where it is served is spectacular. The staff were helpful and their English was good. Lastly, the location was great. Very short walk across the garden bridge to the Bund. (Not that close to the metro though.) Definitely recommend. Mehr
"Intrresting 19th century experience"
A bit too expensive for what you get and very poor breakfast. For the rest when you get in the room it is like to travel back to 1930es!
"Charming hotel in Shanghai"
Our family members, 2 adults with 2 kids, were very satisfied with this hotel. Once we got off taxi, bellboy was very welcome to our visit. Staff was okay and gave us the upgrade room with free of charge. We booked firstly at Richard Executive Room, but when checked in, it found that our booking was not available. We stayed at Executive Suit Room 212, […] only one thing we can say was "Marvellous". Bed was very comfortable, very large bathroom with jacussi. We learnt from previous reviews about noisy, but we didnot have any problems with it. We all, were at deep sleep all night long. Eventhough the location is abit far from train station, but who cares, as taxi fare is quite cheap. Breakfast was okay. My kids say "will be surely come here again for our next visit to Shanghai" Mehr
"Astor Hotel Shanghai"
We stayed for a night at this hotel. Very happy about the location of the hotel and the proximity to Bund area and sights. Cost us over 100 HKD cab ride to and from the airport. Since we were going to be spending ony a day in Shanghai we wanted to be closer to the must see sights and this hotel worked out well. The condition of the hotel (given its […] history) needs some TLC. The Peacock room where we had our morning breakfast and that entire expereince was wonderful. The rug in our room was dirty. I would recommend this hotel for folks who want to take the sights in and will not be spending alot of time in thier room. Mehr
"Good location but shows its age"
The Astor Hotel will satisfy tourists looking for a central location, spacious rooms, and a bit of Shanghai history. This is one of the oldest modern hotels (if not the oldest) in the city. Its rooms are at least double the size of that of any other hotel and its prices are surprisingly reasonable. It has its drawbacks: very old furniture and carpets, […] uneven screechy floors, and quite a bit of noise, especially at night when guests, air-conditioner, and water pipes may make your nights uncomfortable. Mehr
"Astor hotel - great rooms/ price, poor staff"
Great price (get a celebrity room), lovely big room, great location and decent breakfast but the staff aren't very helpful or friendly and the public areas are in need of refurb. The doormen don't have kilts anymore (as the Lonely Planet says!), don't expect a 5-star experience or colonial splendour (outwith the rooms). If you want that you'll have […] to pay - go to the Peace Hotel. Also, as regards the location, the Bund is great but actually you'll most likely want to spend most of your time elsewhere (eg the French Concession) for shopping etc, as once you've seen the Bund/ Pudong you've seen it - so don't think you need to stay as close as possible to the Bund to enjoy Shanghai. Mehr
"Astor hotel, Shanghai"
Serious piece of Shanghai history..A must stay..
"Great Place"
wonderful all around. Close to everything in shanghai (except airport, then again, nothing is close to airport). A+ and would say again anytime.
Great Location. Cool old bar inside, great value, room 601 has a great view of Downtown Shanghai
"Astor House Hotel Shanghai Bund"
Found a discounted room online, and stayed in a wing of hotel that must have been added about 1900. No elevator for this addition, so if you are disabled, be sure to verify that you are in the original hotel, which has an elevator beside the grand staircase. The room was enormous, clean, and the original flooring, fireplace, etc. all there. An enclosed […] porch area off the room as well. Staff all friendly, helpful, food excellent with lavish servings, and location unmatched for sightseeing on Bund. Not a hotel for easy access to subway system. Mehr
"Astor House- old fashioned elegance"
A very good mid range option. Nice room. Great history to the hotel. Very close to the Bund.
