Preiswertes Hotel in recht zentraler Lage.

One of the best hotels in America. Great service, close to Reagan National, beautiful views, amazing bathroom/shower/tub, perfectly comfortable bed, and a great venue for a wedding reception. I will stay here every time I visit DC!

"Lovely hotel & staff"
Listen, I don't have the highest standards, I've stayed in endless youth hostels and I used to think motel 6 was nice. So of course this hotel is very nice and the staff very friendly. the free car service brought us outside the normal area they usually go to and the steam room after a long day of walking around was awesome but the spa treatments were […] very high priced. while it is convenient to the National Mall there are no restaurants in the area, there is a cvs and starbucks across the street. I almost didn't book this hotel because there are no coffeemakers in the room and I don't know anyone who doesn't like a cup of coffee when the are getting ready in the morning BEFORE they leave their room. The coffee they do provide is not near the bottom of the elevators but across the elegant lobby, so no trudging down in your jammies to get some though it was tempting to prove a point. Other than that it was reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel and we enjoyed our stay for 2 nights. Next time I would stay near Georgetown where there is tons of shopping and restaurants. Tourists beware the long reflecting pool between Wash. monument and Linc. memorial is under renovations. Mehr
"Manderin Oriental Capital Hill Washington DC"
Love the turn down service with the bottle of water...nice touch. Should offer pay per view TV somewhere in the hotel. We were unable to find a nearby place to watch a pay perview event during our stay and the hotel didn't offer it either. Overall very nice hotel
"The Hotel Mandarin Oriental, Washington D.C."
The hotel facility and staff were fantastic. Hotel location was close to my lecture site; The National Museum of African Art. Will recommend to all my colleagues.
the view of the monument from our room was great !
"Mandarin Orange"
Best hotel in DC, hands down! Extremely close to The Mall; actually, couldn't be any closer to all the attractions. The service was phenomenal and the food was even better. A top notch hotel and my #1 vote for anyone looking for a nice get-away weekend.
"LOVED THE MANDARIN ORIENTAL IN DC"
This was my first experience with a Mandarin Oriental Hotel and it won't be my last. I loved it. The appearance and condition of it were exceptional. I love Asian decor so found it really soothing to the eye. The bathroom was to die for: huge with lots of gray and white marble, huge soaking tub, separate shower. Hotel staff were all friendly and helpful. […] Bed really comfortable with very soft bedding. Mehr
absolutely amazing room loved the room decor and how zen it is and a beautiful scene, i loved the bathtub !!!!
Carpet very dirty. Not a 5 star hotel. Would recommend St. Regis or Ritz.
"Rather disappointed"
Like others that have written reviews, the bathroom was fantastic. Other than that, we receive better service when we stay at the Hampton Inn. We were expecting a lot more for the price ... and the hotel just did not deliver. From shoddy front desk service to a confused/delayed valet, this hotel was just not up to par. Save your money, go to your […] favorite chain instead. (BTW, I don't normally write this type of review, but the hotel really disappointed us.) Mehr
"Beautiful!"
This is what a hotel stay should be! Classy, convenient, incredibly service oriented, lovely staff!
Nice hotel. The only complaint is that there are no prices on the dine in menu so for a small breakfast for 3, we paid $109.00. The food was only ok for that price. The restaurants however were wonderful.
"Great location, excellent service, great pool"
Upgraded to junior suite even though checked in very late (9pm) and full live jazz was playing in lobby bar. Very noisy but check in seamless and very gracious as she guided us to the elevator (couldn't have heard the directions over the music.) Room lovely- great view of Jefferson Memorial and very spacious & quiet with excellent bath goodies and GREAT […] water pressure. Rm 500. No coffee service in room and when called in the am, sent up gratis coffee kit with fresh skim milk STAT and apologized for not having it in room. (Seems to be a new thing since didn't have it in room at Park Hyatt DC last month either- cutting costs perhaps?) Went for run around monuments/Smithsonian. Excellent location for all of DC's museums and sites. Did not bring kids on this trip but did see kids in large indoor pool adjacent to spa (ages 3 & 8) and seems to be very family friendly. Will return with family this summer!! Mehr
"Good hotel for business but not for leisure"
I knew most high end hotels in D.C. are typically overpriced but i expected a larger room at Mandarin as well as better views for the cityview room.

"Mandarin Hotel Washington DC"
Hotel was in a nice location and easy to get to. However, we paid extra for the Tai Pan floor and the Tai Pan lounge and it definitely wasnt worth it. The breakfast was fine but the lunch and dinner set up in the Tai Pan lounge was lacking. The warm hoerderves were very cheaply made(frozen out of a box for sure!). The staff in the Tai Pan lounge was […] great at the initial greeting but lacked in service for drinks or anything else. Asking for something seemed like an inconvenience for them. The spa at hotel was very nice as well. Service was extremely so in the lounge in the lobby as well and the food wasnt very good. Best bet is not to eat at this hotel but eat out if you can. The gentleman that runs the coffee shop/gift shop in the lobby was extremely helpful and friendly. The room was on the small side but very clean. However, the city view room we had also came with the sound of the train that passes the hotel at least twice a night. The water side might have been a better option! Mehr
Ranks among the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in. The attention to the smallest detail is quite impressive.

"Great service and location"
Well-needed Valentine's getaway for the wife and I. Service was stellar. Bed could have been firmer but was still comfortable. A few issues with room wear but overall great. Spa was fulley booked - I wish they would reserve space and time for hotel guests or make an exception - disappointing. The pool was packed with kids on both sides of the divider […] - nice pool. The sauna, dry and wet plus the plunge pool and the tropical rain shower was delectable. CitiZen restaurant was booked but we decided to go last minute and it was saturday night - still I wish they would accomodate hotel guests for this caliber hotel - there were only 2 of us. Great location to walk to the Jefferson Memorial and a short taxi to the Kennedy center for a performance. Dine-in room service was excellent; food was great but not exceptional. Mehr
"restaurant"
i arrived for my 730 reservation on time- my drink order was taken at 7:50 and didnt arrive until 8 15 after asking 3 times . very disappointing meal and service
"the mandarin oriental Washingotn dc"
Thought the hotel was in a great location. The room however I would say was not what a five star hotel should look like. The furniture seemed to be old and not not very well attended to. The bathroom was quite large and very clean. Not enough pillows on the bed. May stay at the Ritz Carlton next time around.
"Great location!"
Beautiful! Awesome rooms! Excellent service!
"Mandarin Oriental DC-not really 5 stars"
I've stayed at other Mandarin Oriental properties in the past. The service is 5 star like any other Mandarin. The facilities however, is only about a 3-4. Room decors were tired/chipped, lamp shades were loosely on, and the lightbulbs were unevenly bright. This was an upgrade from the hotel too. I know what I've stated were details, but a 5 star property […] is all about the details; if you're gonna spend the money, I expect the whole package. Mehr

Headboard had stain on it. kinda grossed me out.
"Nice place, poor location."
Beautiful hotel. The service in the lounge was a little slow and generally so-so. For us the location was the biggest let down. It wasn't very conducive to exploring the city by foot or walking to get a bite to eat. Cabs seemed the be the way you had to go because driving is too much of a pain in DC if you're not familiar with the area.
"Stayed there for Jon Stewart's DC Rally"
Great hotel, bed was super comfortable & I slept like a baby. Only drawback is they charge for internet (and don't offer any for free, even in the lobby). Otherwise the hotel is top notch.
Really nice hotel, but not very convenient location. The neighborhood had no charm and it was not near any metro station. It was near Washington DC Mall and several museums.

"Mandarin Oriental-an oasis"
Lovely lobby, welcoming staff, and a knowledgable concierge helped to make our stay very pleasant. You pay for location rather than room size, but that being said, the room was very nice, especially the large bath with separate shower and tub.
"Restoring Honor Rally Weekend"
The hotel was wonderful, staff very friendly and at a great location; only a few blocks from the National Mall. What we appreciated was the fact that it was on the Tidal Basin; we had a "water view" room. It was a quick walk to the Jefferson Memorial, quiet, peaceful and lovely. Our room was very well appointed, spotless, comfortable and spacious. The […] bathroom… luxurious, with a soak in tub and separate shower stall! There are two restaurants: City Zen, unfortunately, was not open; and the Southwester, lunch was delicious, I recommend the heirloom tomato salad and fried chicken dish, oh and the red velvet cake for dessert! The Empress Lounge was crowded @ night, not enough staff to accommodate on the volume of guests that were there to enjoy the Jazz ensemble. The Jazz band was very good; the cocktails were also very good! This could have been because we visited in late summer and the influx of folks was huge. I felt that concierge could have been more helpful. A few times we tried to reach them; the person was away from their station. Their coffee shop opened too late. We did not have an opportunity to use the pool or the spa. Overall, we we’re very pleased with the hotel, and I would recommend it and stay again. The room was lovely with a soft Asian motif, obviously; very comfortable with lovely upscale touches. Mehr
"Amazing hotel"
After a long flight from California, our stay at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel was amazing. The room was just beautiful (and very comfortable).... the staff made us welcome, was very courteous and even accommodated a package arrival without any hesitation .... and when we needed a late check-out due to an unexpected change in plans, the front desk accommodated […] (again) without any hesitation. I would DEFINITELY visit this hotel again. Thank you! Mehr
"Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington DC"
The staff at the hotel was amazing! the extended courtesy was above and beyond anything that I have experienced anywhere. I am a frequent traveler & stay at a lot of different hotels and this was by far the best service anywhere I have stayed! The rooms were very clean & our beds were ready ready for us by the time we returned from dinner. The showers […] had enough water pressure to knock you over if you weren't careful. Everything was very clean! Definitely a 5 star quality hotel! Mehr
"Mandarin Oriental - five star hotel?"
We decided to treat ourselves to an overnight getaway at a five star hotel. The staff was pleasant and the hotel was beautiful. After arriving to our room, I was disappointed that there was a dark stain about 10" in diameter on the light tan carpet, a pieced of hardware missing from one of the drawers, and a small tear on the top sheet (outer cover) […] of the bed. We had access to the tai pan club lounge with our reservation. This lounge was not airconditioned adequately. I always felt a bit warm while relaxing in this room that allowed the sunlight to bake all the visitors. I didn't expect to experience any of these problems at a five star hotel. Mehr

"Mandarin Oriental"
5 star and well deserved. Thoughtful touches like umbrella for guests in room, telephone in bathroom, bathroom scales and a great view of the jefferson memorial. And the in room breakfast was lovely.
"Mandarin Oriental Washington, DC"
The service in the lounge in the lobby was marginal, and drinks were very expensive when they finally arrived. The quality is high however.

"Mandarin Oriental-absolutely beautiful hotel"
The place was clean, the service was friendly, everything was as expected (or more). We walked to the Mall during the day, and it was only a couple blocks away!. We had dinner at CityZen, which was delicious. There was constant taxi service, so after dinner we were able to catch a cab to see the monuments at night. The only part I'd complain about […] was that they advertised a garden and footbridge to the Jefferson Memorial. We were definitely looking forward to this, but we couldn't easily access the garden without walking through their restaurant/lounge. We were discouraged by the staff to walk to the Jefferson, because the footbridge was "dimly lit" and there was no security. I guess you can't help it if you are located in the inner city... but I'd suggest updating the bridge so that it's safe for patrons of the hotel, as well as making access to the garden more public. Also, it was kind of hard to find the actual driveway to the hotel (there's only one way in and one way out). and I wish we could have parked in a lot, instead of having to use the valet. Other than that, we had an amazing stay. Even during a holiday weekend, it was busy, but service was fast, reliable, and very cordial. Mehr

"Mandarin Oriental just so-so"
The service was fine, no complaints there. Everyone tried to be helpful, although the Concierge desk was rarely staffed and the front desk people tried to be helpful but knew little about restaurants or other practical information requested. But I biggest complaint, however, was the hotel restaurant. A simple breakfast for two (lox, bagel, cream cheese) […] was Sixty Dollars. At lunch, we had a hamburger, coke and piece of cake, while my wife had a Nicoise Salad. Again, Sixty Dollars. The hamburger was about as big as a solitary slider. The room decor was "fashionably ugly." I say this because the hotel is fairly new, so the old antique feel of it must have been intentional, but it looked worn out and old. Our room literally had a nail or a spike driven into the wall underneath a painting of half of someone's head. Hideous, really. For such a high priced hotel, it was very disappointing. I have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in San Francisco, and it was immaculate and superior. The Washington, D.C. version does not live up to the chain's typical quality. Mehr

"Fantastic"
The Mandarin in DC was possibly the most comfortable hotel that I've ever stayed at. The service was outstanding, the morning breakfast "buffet" was excellent and well priced, and the bathroom in our room was excellent.
"Needs improvement"
inconsistent service, remodeling / work underway was overwhelming. Location is remote. Terribly disappointed. Did not meet my standards for a 5 star. I am not a fan.
"Sleep but don't eat or drink here!"
The hotel is a really beautiful hotel. They were able to check us in early but they claimed they were giving us an upgrade and they put us in a handicap room which does not have the nice bathroom. Not much of an upgrade. There doesn't seem to be anyplace to park your own car and valet parking is expensive. If you're a lady, you will love the whirlpool […] and steam room in the ladies locker room, very nice. Only downfall, don't eat here if you can help it! If you want food, go back out across the bridge and find a restaurant! Prices were way to high!! We sat in the lounge, drinks were basically over priced, we ordered some fancy chicken wings that were double what you'd pay normally, the menus are very limited without many choices unless you eat sushi, sashimi, etc. They will give you mixed nuts on your table if you get something. The jazz was nice, if you go on the weekend, but the lounge gets crowded and there's not enough seating. Our room had an honor bar but make sure that you check it for whats in it and match it against the list; we were missing several things, but I was able to let the front desk know so they didn't charge us for it. There is a CVS right next door that was opening a few days after our visit, get your snacks there. Breakfast was ok but very expensive, plus they charge a delivery fee and extra service charge. So, beautiful hotel, sleep here, but if you want to save some money, go out for all your eating and activities. Mehr
"Great Hotel... Maybe not for kids"
To the point... I liked the hotel and it was quite comfortable. But, NO SODA MACHINE!!! Really? So, I have to go to the bar or get a soda from the room bar? $4.00 for a tiny die soda!!! A little inconvenient. Other than that, it was just fine.
