"Mandarin Oriental-absolutely beautiful hotel"
The place was clean, the service was friendly, everything was as expected (or more). We walked to the Mall during the day, and it was only a couple blocks away!. We had dinner at CityZen, which was delicious. There was constant taxi service, so after dinner we were able to catch a cab to see the monuments at night. The only part I'd complain about […] was that they advertised a garden and footbridge to the Jefferson Memorial. We were definitely looking forward to this, but we couldn't easily access the garden without walking through their restaurant/lounge. We were discouraged by the staff to walk to the Jefferson, because the footbridge was "dimly lit" and there was no security. I guess you can't help it if you are located in the inner city... but I'd suggest updating the bridge so that it's safe for patrons of the hotel, as well as making access to the garden more public. Also, it was kind of hard to find the actual driveway to the hotel (there's only one way in and one way out). and I wish we could have parked in a lot, instead of having to use the valet. Other than that, we had an amazing stay. Even during a holiday weekend, it was busy, but service was fast, reliable, and very cordial. Mehr

"Mandarin Oriental just so-so"
The service was fine, no complaints there. Everyone tried to be helpful, although the Concierge desk was rarely staffed and the front desk people tried to be helpful but knew little about restaurants or other practical information requested. But I biggest complaint, however, was the hotel restaurant. A simple breakfast for two (lox, bagel, cream cheese) […] was Sixty Dollars. At lunch, we had a hamburger, coke and piece of cake, while my wife had a Nicoise Salad. Again, Sixty Dollars. The hamburger was about as big as a solitary slider. The room decor was "fashionably ugly." I say this because the hotel is fairly new, so the old antique feel of it must have been intentional, but it looked worn out and old. Our room literally had a nail or a spike driven into the wall underneath a painting of half of someone's head. Hideous, really. For such a high priced hotel, it was very disappointing. I have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in San Francisco, and it was immaculate and superior. The Washington, D.C. version does not live up to the chain's typical quality. Mehr

"Fantastic"
The Mandarin in DC was possibly the most comfortable hotel that I've ever stayed at. The service was outstanding, the morning breakfast "buffet" was excellent and well priced, and the bathroom in our room was excellent.
"Needs improvement"
inconsistent service, remodeling / work underway was overwhelming. Location is remote. Terribly disappointed. Did not meet my standards for a 5 star. I am not a fan.
"Sleep but don't eat or drink here!"
The hotel is a really beautiful hotel. They were able to check us in early but they claimed they were giving us an upgrade and they put us in a handicap room which does not have the nice bathroom. Not much of an upgrade. There doesn't seem to be anyplace to park your own car and valet parking is expensive. If you're a lady, you will love the whirlpool […] and steam room in the ladies locker room, very nice. Only downfall, don't eat here if you can help it! If you want food, go back out across the bridge and find a restaurant! Prices were way to high!! We sat in the lounge, drinks were basically over priced, we ordered some fancy chicken wings that were double what you'd pay normally, the menus are very limited without many choices unless you eat sushi, sashimi, etc. They will give you mixed nuts on your table if you get something. The jazz was nice, if you go on the weekend, but the lounge gets crowded and there's not enough seating. Our room had an honor bar but make sure that you check it for whats in it and match it against the list; we were missing several things, but I was able to let the front desk know so they didn't charge us for it. There is a CVS right next door that was opening a few days after our visit, get your snacks there. Breakfast was ok but very expensive, plus they charge a delivery fee and extra service charge. So, beautiful hotel, sleep here, but if you want to save some money, go out for all your eating and activities. Mehr
"Great Hotel... Maybe not for kids"
To the point... I liked the hotel and it was quite comfortable. But, NO SODA MACHINE!!! Really? So, I have to go to the bar or get a soda from the room bar? $4.00 for a tiny die soda!!! A little inconvenient. Other than that, it was just fine.

"Great Hotel"
New, nice and clean. One of the few DC hotels with a pool, which was great for the kids. Hotel staff was outstanding.
"Beautiful"
My Suite was beautiful, spacious, comfortable, big bathroom, clean!. The service was excellent. Highly Recommend
"Amazing Hotel"
I would definitely recommend the Mandarin Oriental. However I would caution future visitors to understand that the prices for food and drinks are quite high. On average for $12 for a glass of wine or beer. We went off property for dinner and drinks, and the good thing is that the proximity of the hotel is just a short cab ride to more affordable establishments. In […] fact a short walk over the bridge and you are an amazing outdoor fish market that will cook fresh seafood to order. Dawn Mehr
"Mandarin Oriental, Wash DC"
A truly five star property, beautifully designed and maintained. Happy to stay there next time I'm in DC, if it's again possible to get the kind of deal hotels.com offered (otherwise it's more than I'd want to pay on a simple business trip).
"You get what you pay for"
This hotel is pricey but the quality matches the price well. Service was excellent - the safe in our room didn't work, but when we called they had someone in to fix it within 5 minutes. The spa is great - also expensive but the facilities and service were appropriately excellent. There's a Starbucks across the street and a sandwich shop next door, but […] not much else in the same block. However, the National Mall is only two blocks away. Mehr
"FAB HOTEL"
The hotel was 5 stars. The concierge and the staff were great they helped my friend and I get around Washington. We were given ideas for restauants and sight seeings. It was a great trip. THANKS

"Fabulous Hotel and Staff"
This hotel is beautiful, the staff is wonderful- friendly and professional. Our every request was met quickly, room service even arrived for breakfast in 15 minutes! Can't wait to return to DC so we can stay at the Mandarin again!
"Exceptionally Accomodating ...."
The staff was courteous, professional, and very helpful. Upon arrival, we uprgraded our room and enjoyed a nice room with a lovely marble bath. We enjoyed being quietly tucked away from the noise and activity,(as the hotel is located in a cul de sac ) yet were able to walk to the mall and partake in the museums.
"Best DC Location"
We loved the location and enjoyed all of the amenities of this luxury hotel.
"Wonderful Hotel although the AC was having a hard time cooling"
The hotel was wonderful with beautiful decor and great in-house dining. My only complaint was the the AC did not cool my room down- had I stayed longer I would have requested another room. Everything else was fantastic!
"Would almost consider living there!"
Not much to the immediate neighborhood but that gave it a quiet feel in the middle of a busy city. Back yard looks over marina and coffee is set out at no charge. Room was fantastic, as was the staff. About 2 blocks from the mall, and perhaps 4 from the metro. I really enjoyed my stay.
"Needs some improvement"
Hotel was very nice however, the rug in our room was dirty. It could use a shampoo. Also, the shower door had mold growing around bottom. The staff was nice and helpful. Great location.

"Nice hotel, great location for tourists."
Very nice hotel. Great location to the national mall (walking distance). Bathroom was beautiful. We were expecting a little more out of the room itself for the price and the reputation of the hotel. It seemed a little dated and in need of a renovation, but it was clean and comfortable. The hotel itself is beautiful. I recommend a water-view room. It's […] pretty amazing especially if you have a view of the Jefferson Memorial. They have live jazz on fri and sat nights which is a treat. Mehr
"Pool Closes at 9"
Wish I could've stayed longer but otherwise great experience.

"restaurant"
Room service and restaurant prices were too pricey for the quality of food. I ate in the Asian Fusion restaurant and the food was good but not outstanding enough for me to eat there again if I have a choice. Comfortable and well furbished room with easy wireless connection. The bed was comfortable and the mini bar was adequate. The room cost was high […] but apparently all hotels in this area are expensive. Hotel staff were warm, friendly and efficient. Mehr
"Room service"
I thought the room service menu was better than what was offered in the restaurant (I am not a sushi fan) but the food was not exactly as described in the menu. Two nights in a row I received the same dessert because they were named and described differently. I did love that every member of the staff I saw more than once called me by name. Great se […] rvice. Mehr
"Mandarin à Washington"
Bel hôtel, bien situé, proche des musées et du Capitol. Excellent accueil, nous avions une belle suite avec terrasse donnant sur la rivière. Le champagne nous a été offert.
