Lion Square Lodge - Vail

Pros: The hotel's location is perfect. The staff is friendly. Everything was clean. Cons: The rooms are outdated, turns out the room that I was put in was actually a privately owned condo. My view was of the parking lot and I could hear people talking outside my window till late at night. They couldn't move me to another room.

Lion Square Lodge is very close to Vail Village. We parked our car and left it for our entire stay. Ski amenities are very close, literally a few steps out the front door. The view from the room was terrific. The staff was friendly and very helpful for skiing, fun, shopping or entertainment. Vail is charming, scenic and fun. Lion Square Lodge is gr […] eat! Mehr

Our room was newly updated, on the ground floor with a walkout patio to sit and listen to the beautiful Gore river flowing by. It was comfortable and well appointed. We could walk to everything. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

Great staff. Nice people.

We had a room on the ground level with a door to the outside with table and chairs right beside the door on a nice grassy lawn area. We were feet away from the path and pool and close to the river just beyond the path. We could here the river gurgling at night. The desk personnel were friendly and the concierge helpful. Room was very nice. Room contained […] a couch, high table and table chairs. Very comfortable bed with long ottoman at its foot. The room had a small TV but no prob for us because we didn't really watch much. Fridge in room. Nice wine glasses. Bathroom small but functional. Parking out front or underground. Our parking was free. We went in the summer, really liked this lodge and will definitely be back. Mehr

The Lion square lodge is reasonably priced and a short walk to Vail village and other attractions in the Vail area. The rooms are nice and staff friendly. Oh, and the parking is free with room rental. Overall, a great experience.

Apparently some of the lodge has been renovated but our unit was circa 1983, right down to the teal tile and dog wallpaper. It was 89 degrees while we were there and with no a/c and no ceiling fans it was miserable inside... With so many nice options in the area WHY stay here?

Super friendly staff, great location. Hotel was very quiet and the room was clean and nicely decorated. Very happy with our stay...Will definitely stay here again.

Located at the base of Vail Mountain and next to the Gondola, Lions Square Lodge is a great choice! We stayed in one of the large, nicely decorated hotel rooms that included a refrigerator, coffee bar, DVD player, Aveda products, and lush towels and robes. Coffee, granola bars, and chocolate chip cookies were available in the hotel lobby. The pool and […] hot tubs are super! And, our parking was free! The staff was awesome--especially Andrew. We ate at the hotel restaurant, Mezzaluna, for dinner; the food was excellent. We will definitely stay here again! Mehr

My wife, children, and I LOVED this hotel...the service, location, and room could not have been better. My only complaint is that the tile floor and carpeting in our room were very slippery...everybody i the entire family almost fell several times.

This hotel was wonderful! My husband and I stayed here on our way passing through on a move and were so impressed with everything from the room size, to the staff, and the comfort. We will be returning for an extended vacation very very very soon!

Lion Square Lodge is located in LionsHead - the west side of Vail - right behind the gondola adjascent to a bunch of super restauraunts, coffee shop, bike rentals, and shops. The location couldn't be better. Vail is not a place where you drive around but everything is accessable by walking or by free bus.

This place is awesome. Comfortable bed, cozy room furnishings, hotel backs up onto the creek, a short walk from the square. Reasonable price.

Haven't been to Vail in about 6 yrs and it certainly has under gone a makeover. Vail Village has always had a quaint Swiss atmosphere, however Lionshead Village steals the show. More quaint and not as crowded. Lion Square Lodge is probably the most affordable hotel in the area however it felt like a 5 star hotel. I can't believe how great this hotel is and it was so cheap. I would recommend it to everyone.

Our condo was beautiful! Although we were not on the river-side, we had a great mountain view. Plenty of room, a HUGE master bedroom with a King bed and two sleeper couches in the den. The front desk personnel was very responsive when we requested an extra fan. They even brought it out to us. We would stay here on every trip back to Vail!

I found the hotel stay outstanding.

This has to be one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed in. Everything was up to date, it was in a prime location and the stores where just walking distance. I wanted to stay in the room and watch TV and enjoy the senory, while the spouse when shopping. I lost the argument. I plan on coming back in the sring and fall from now on. We stayed at the hotel in October. Felt like we had the place to ourselves. The room was great (condo style with fireplace, patios, Weber gas grill, and separate bedroom + Murphy bed). Recent remodel. Local restaurants (walking distance) offering 50% off due to off season.

We loved the room and found it very comfortable. The grounds were lovely and we had a fabulous vacation thanks to the helpful staff.

A fan was provided and even though there were windows, we couldn't open them as they were bracketed closed. It got very warm in the room in late September so I imagine summer would be miserable.

I booked this room at the last minute and was delighted with everything. The room was so well-maintained and comfortable (down comforter, windows that open, Aveda products, beautifully done bathroom). I like that the parking is in a gated area. My only difficulty was not the hotel's fault, but there is a lot of construction in Vail right now that made […] it hard to find the hotel. It is worth it, though! The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The location was in the middle of Lionshead, and Vail village is a short walk. Room was very comfortable and nicely remodeled.

Absolutely a fine place to stay. Is this how kings/queens live? I wish we had planned to stay longer.

Since we hadn't been to Vail before, we didn't know how the location would be since the price we got on hotels.com was so affordable. Lionshead Village is a wonderful location with its own cute shops and restaurants and right next to the larger Vail village. A free shuttle bus is an easy ride to Vail village and back. We were very happy with the location right at the bottom of the gondola and right next to the Village. The 2 bedroom condo was very clean, had enough beds for each of our 3 kids to each have their own, and the full kitchen was great to have.

We loved our stay! The Lodge is incredibly well located at the base of Vail Mtn in Lionshead Village. We did not use our car at all thanks to the convenience of the village, bike path, gondola and bus routes. Our small children (4 and 2) had a great time at the pool and enjoyed people-watching from our balcony. My only gripe is the limited flexibility […] regarding late check-out. The manager said he did his best, however we have had considerably more flexibilty at most places we've stayed (very impt when traveling with small children). Mehr

Loft was more spacious than we thought. It was ideally located. Close to everything, with a beautiful veiw out the back.

What a great place this is!! Location is within walking distance of the gondola, Lionshead, and Vail Village. Stayed in a one bedroom condo that was spotless and very comfy. The only complaint we had was that the kitchen was lacking some handy kitchen utensils. I would reccomend this hotel, the pool is fantastic the hotel is located so close to everything in Lion's Head and only a few minute walk to Vail Village along the beautiful bike path. Our room faced the parking lot which was not so great but it was still pretty quiet, if you can ask for a river/slope view I would do that next time.

Beautiful location along creek. Nice views on mountain side. Convenient to Lionshead Village shops and restaurants.

FRIENDLY STAFF AND GREAT ACCOMODATIONS

The room was right next to my conference center and had the room with a view of the pool and creek room exceeded my expectations and the price was well worth it

Friendly helpful staff, with good suggestions about hikes, rafting and dining. Wonderfully convenient location. Gorgeous setting. Extremely nice pool facilities with luxurious changing rooms. Very comfortable lobby. Nice-sized fridge.

There was a problem with our reservation, but Mark at the front desk updates us to a lovely one-br apartment. We loved it: clean, quiet, spacious, with a lovely balcony on the river and view of the mountains. The only problem we had was with the incredibly rude family that had a baby in diapers in a hot tub, which we reported to the front desk. The […] hotel has a pool and a hot tub (hopefully diaper-free by now), and a steam room. It's within walking distance of restaurants and very close to the gondola, which is free in the summer from 4pm to closing time. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much and we recommend this property. We had a wonderful stay and Lion Square Lodge and will go back again. Our room was convenient to the lobby which provided tea, coffee and cookies 24/7. The pool and hot tub area was great. The room looked out into the parking lot and not the mountain, but we were not in our room long enought for this to be an issue. The staff was very helpful, especially, […] JT for letting my husband and son know where the best place was to get their mountain bikes repaired. We will definately be back. Mehr
