Sugar Beach Resort - Maui Condo & Home - Kihei

Der Aufenthalt im Sugar Beach Resort war traumhaft. Wir waren dort gut eine Woche und die Anlage ist perfekt. Wir hatten ein super Condo (Ferienwohnung) direkt am Meer und in erhöhter Lage. Die Wohnung war super eingerichtet. Getrenntes Schlafzimmer, schönes Bad, Küche, Wohnzimmer.. Alles war perfekt. Wir fühlten uns rundum wohl. Den Whirlpool kann […] man bis 21.30 Uhr benutzen und dieser ist ca. 45°C - war herrlich. Auch die Poolanlage ist ok. Ins Meer kann man bei diesem Hotel nicht gut, da es Riff hat und nicht so schön ist zum Baden. Aber wer auf Maui reist, ist es perfekt. Denn es hat viele schöne Strände - auch in der Nähe des Hotels. This was a condo, so each unit is individually owned, therefore suite upkeep and decor will vary. Ours was PH34, 6th floor ocean front with a great sunset view from the balcony. The suite itself was a little dated and could use a little bit of work, but overall it was very comfortable with plenty of conveniences, including in-suite laundry. The rooms are a little used looking, ie the carpet in our condo had spots and needed cleaning. But we enjoyed the heated pool and the walk on the beach greatly. The view from our room was great of the pool and sunsets over the bay. The central air conditioning was nice to have. People we met were very nice and friendly. Enjoyed our stay.

Our unit was owned by an efficiency expert and it showed in so many detail. I paticularly loved the spices and condiments in this well stocked kitchen. We had a view of the pool and Kihei bay. For a large complex, we never felt the crush of people. A beautiful peaceful place with miles of beach.

room was not clean upon arrival. hide-a-bed was dirty, worn out, & sheets were dirty. spare sheets in closet were dirty & stained. no extra sheets for king bed in bedroom.., dirty pillows & pillow slips. vacuum cleaner was broken. these issues were dealt with days later after a couple of visits to manager's office & they called on my behalf. our room# […] was 524. Good place to stay - arrival was uneventful, the place was in good shape, everything was as advertised, everything worked. No complaints. A good deal, if, given the cleaning fee, you stay anything over 3 days.

Overall the stay was great, We thought we had paid higher rate for a renovated room by the pictures that were advertised on hotels.com. When we checked in it was the unrenovated room they had advertised at a cheaper price. We were disapointed but when we contacte Maui home and condo they showed us a room that had a few updates and offered us to switch. […] The view was better from the original room and we already moved in so we didnt switch.The room was fairly clean but definetly worn out and could have used a carpet wash or tile through out. Overall it didnt ruin or holiday and still had a great time in Maui with so much to do. The resort it self was well maintained with pool and hot tube in great shape. Right on the beach, fully equipped kitchen with washer/dryer in room, bbqs for grilling up local fresh fish, excellent central location to reach all activities easily by car. We loved the balcony for coffee in the morning and sunsets at night. Great location for anyone who doesn't need the high profile of big resorts. this was our 6th. time back to sugarbeach and it will not be our last! only complaint is the wind in this area, not a big deal really, small price to pay for our little bit of paradise.always feels like home when we arrive.

We had a great experience here. The address from expedia was incorrect but we were able to call the office and get the correct address. I would stay here again. If you are a smoker there is a smoking area out ront of the resort.

You think with some of the money they make they would at least have a DVD player that works, NOT. The grounds are beautiful and kept up daily. Nice BBQ area.

Stayed in 132 - clean, very well equipped, and comfortable. Beach was right out the patio door, wonderful wave sounds. "Sandwitch" shop on property was delightful - try the homemade pizza or Reuben which were both great and reasonably priced. Facility is handy to town, parking no problem (except for tiny spaces which are typical in Hawaii). Our son […] lives on Maui and until he can put us up we will include Sugar as a go to. This was a great place to stay. The unit we stayed in #115 was clean and comfortable. Well stocked with supplies and clean linens. The only challenge was the location. While quiet and fabulous proximity to the beach, it was a little further out of town than ideal. However I would likely return and will recommend to friends.

Great location! Close to all attractions. Nice beach. Staff very helpful and informative. Room clean but bathroom and bedroom area were just ok. For the money good deal. Loved the rest of everything. Definitely would go back.

The price was affordable. Room was clean. Definitely having laundry was great for kids. We had neighbors but had no idea they were there unless we passed them outside. In the middle of the island, so it was very convenient to drive to any beach or tourist attraction.

I have stayed here before and it was fine. This particular condo was awful. It had one skillet and it was 5" big. No scissors, potholders, cutting board, or anything usable to carry meat to the bbQ. The matress just sank. The doorways needed to ne swept/washed. The whole place needed paint. I was shocked and disappointed. The missing items were deloivered […] but my request to move was denied. All the other condos usually inckude the little extras like beach towel and chairs,cookie sheet or cake pan, paper and pencil etc. Mehr

Went for 25th Anv. We enjoyed the comfort of the room and the view was great. When we get to go back to Maui we will stay here again. By the way we could see whales out in the water from our balcony.

As close as you can get from the beach, wonderfull sunset, and very relaxing environment. We loved our front oceanview, and snorkling was fun right in front of the premises. Yes turtles play in front of the condos.

The room and resort was a little dated, but all in all it was a good deal, and the condo was very well equipped for cooking. The location is a bit far from the bars & restaurants in Kihei (not walking distance), but a great location for trips to any part of the island. The condo certainly met our needs. It was nicely equipped & appointed, & the biggest plus was being situated ON THE BEACH. (many condos in Kihei are across the road from the beach - Sugar Beach is not!). Our only disappointment was that the condo did not FACE the ocean, though we did have an ocean view. Description difference is "ocean view" vs "ocean […] front" which is something to be aware of if that matters to you. Checking in is easy, as is checking out. The front desk staff are very helpful. We arrived at a late hour but it didn't pose a problem. Called the # noted on our itinerary (well ahead of time!), they provided an access code & that gave us direct access to our condo. The pool area & gardens around the property are very well maintained. There are lots of lounge chairs around the pool area & a grassy area just above the sand/ocean ; no problems obtaining them in either area. 6 BBQs & no problem accessing them either. The tennis courts have been converted to a parking area (which would be a concern if you expected them to be there!). All in all, we really enjoyed Sugar Beach! Reasonably priced accomodation RIGHT ON THE BEACH, in a convenient location .... not otherwise easy to find in that area of KIHEI. If you want RITZY, forget it. If you want basic, ocean-side comfort, BOOK IT !! Lynne & Tom Mehr

Loved the room, and being right on the beach. Room was very well maintained as well as pool area. Front office staff very helpful. Small office on site to book excursions as well and they were very helpful in planning out our time. Local store was another matter entirely, as they pretty much opened and closed whenever they saw fit for our first few […] days there and then closed completely for the majority of our visit. Would not have been a big deal outside of the fact that we only rented a vehicle for part of our trip expecting to spend most of our time on the local beach. The condo unit is located quite a ways from the next closest market and we were VERY frustrated that the resort promoted an on-site market and then failed to deliver. With 2 small children we needed that service that was expected. We definitely plan to return to Maui but will be selecting a different condo closer to all the action. Mehr

The resort was very conveniently located and our unit was very comfortable for the two of us. What would have helped a lot is the correct address. After traveling for 19 hours, arriving in the dark @ 11 pm Maui time (5am our time)', it was just by luck the we were directed to the resort by the clerk @ the ABC store. The resort is located on North Kiheil […] Rd not South Kiheil RD! Also, the unit numbers in the first building are all even numbers. Ours was 217. I could finf 216 & 218 but not 217! My husband finally figured it out and we found the correct unit in another building. This would have been valuable info to have in the middle of the night! Mehr

Ocean front room with excellent view. But we found a 1/2" cockroach at kitchen at first night. Then, another 1" cockroach (big one) in bed room at second night. My wife had nightmare at the night. I reported the manger. Her response was they do pest control every 3 months with no apology.... No good memory

Sugar Beach Resort is located on the ocean but away from the hustle and bustle of Lahaina or Wailea. We liked the quiet of the property and since we had a rental car it was no issue getting around. The condo we rented came equipped with enough for us to get by cooking and eating wise. It would have been nice to have come beach chairs to use but oh well. […] We would recommended this property. We stayed at a great condo at Sugar Beach. Ocean front room, steps away from the beach. It was quiet, updated, and had all the conveniences of home. And the value is unbeatable! We cooked most of our meals and between the savings on food and lodging, we had $ to do all kinds of activities. We stayed at this place during 2nd part of our trip. This resort is kind of a condo and resort place with a massage & food joint place attached. Nice pool and Nice view of the beach. You will like if you are looking for a calm and not much happening beach. It is very near to harbor where you get to lot of activities like snorkel, whale watch, fishing […] or any other adventure sports. Parking is free and food places and shopping places are only couple of miles away if you like to go for shopping. There is not much in the immediate surroundings but like I said it is a calm and not much happening resort. bed room, kitchenette, bathrooms, living room etc, everything was clean and wonderful, we had no problem at all whatsoever. A good location overall, great views from our 6th floor unit. Condo has not been undated in some time though the furnishings are decent. We had the opportunity to view a few of the other units and this one is definetly below par, most others had newer kitchens, baths, etc. Kitchen generally well stocked though quite a bit of "hodgepodge" utensils, pans, […] etc. Given the rate we had to pay for the condo, doubt we will stay there again. The condo was clean, the fellow residents/vactioners were polite, the pool was clean and all in all we had a great time. The beach outside the condo was nice for long walks and a little bit of water fun, but not a real swimmign beach. It was quiet and not developed which we enjoyed. SBR seems more geared toward retirees and people traveling without […] kids. They have rules about pool use, like no toys in the pool, which were difficult to explain to our young kids. But they and we enjoyed ourselves anyway. Kihei gets really windy in the afternoons, which I wish we would have known about before we traveled. Mehr

We had four families (sisters) go at the same time. We had a great time! The room was great. The view was fantastic. We even got fairly close to each other which was convenient. The ice chests, beach chairs and other amenities were nice. It was a very comfortable room. The weather did get really windy about mid afternoon. I don't know if it was the […] time of year or if it's windy all year round. There were a lot of places to go, shopping and activities that were close by. Upon arrival we were greating with drilling and loud bangs from the construction. All during our stay we could hear what the people in other rooms were doing. On 2 of the mornings at around 5 am hawaiian time we were woke up from the loud noises in the neighboring rooms.

We loved Maui!! It was for our honeymoon and the first visit to Maui for us. Sugar Beach Resort was a nice place to stay...Unit was clean and comfortable, even the bed. The unit itself was a little older but had updated decor. The unit had pretty much all the cooking stuff needed, we just purchased our own food and drinks. The view from our lanai was […] awesome. From the looks of it you have a good view from any of the units, even if you are not ocean front. The beach was nice even though it wasn't very big. I was disappointed in the water...it was not all the pretty blue, green colors that I thought it would be. Sugar Beach / Kihei seemed to be a little more low key than some of the other areas and if you do not mind driving to go to the nicer beaches and prettier water than it is a good place to stay. The driving didn't bother us...the beach and water was the disappointment but we found nice beaches elsewhere. The wind was quite annoying at times also...it seemed like from around 3:00 pm to 9 or 10pm it was very windy at Sugar Beach. I feel like for what we paid we got a good deal...I would not have a problem staying there again but I think if we go back to Maui we would stay at another part of the island so I can have the pretty water all the time!
