beautiful hotel, good location but really difficult to find

I like it when a five star hotel really delivers on that. Its hit or miss sometimes. This place nails it. Huge rooms, huge bathrooms, awesome staff. They are multi-lingual if that helps you. You can't avoid the 18Euro parking fee, but its worth it as parking is tough to find. If you are touristing, everything is within walking distance. Excellent hotel in the old city. Very friendly and efficient staff. Unfortunately while we were there in February the restaurant was closed - so check first if this is important to you. Locally recommended restaurants were good. The public areas - stair carpet etc looking tired but in some ways this is part of its charm.

We visited at the end of January because I was on business in Avignon. This is very low season and we had the town to ourselves.The hotel is situated in a very convenient location, the perfect place to see the town, including the Chateau des Papes and the Pont D'Avignon. This is a beautiful small hotel in a great location in Avignon -close to sights, shops, river etc. Lovely courtyard and lobby areas, and very welcoming, helpful staff. We could not afford the top priced rooms, but were very happy with our comfortable, well appointed room, and enjoyed a bonus thunderstorm. Absolutely recommended. Was looking forward to eating in the Michelin star rated dining room but was not told that it would be closed

We had initially booked 2 nights but found that we wanted to stay another day travelling around the area so booked another night. The hotel is very centrally located easy walk to all the major attractions of the city plus restaurants and bars. The front office staff were very friendly and handled questions in English with ease. The manager and staff are very helpful and welcoming and are genuinely interested in helping to make their guests' stays really enjoyable. The location is superb, right on the Place Crillon, with its restaurants. The Palais des Papes and the Rhone, with the famous bridge, are very close by. The building is beautiful and the rooms spotless. We have stayed […] twice - if returning to Avignon we would, without doubt, stay at this hotel again. We did not use the restaurant, as it seemed very expensive to us. This is not a problem, as there are countless restaurants, in shaded courtyards nearby. The only thing we missed was tea making facilities in our room - but this is not at all unusual we know and is a minor niggle! Mehr

Our room was bright, spacious and beautifully appointed with a private patio; a pleasant surprise given the age of the hotel; a long history of hosting the likes of Napoleon and Charles Dickens. Service was attentive and the courtyard restaurant was a lovely oasis from the chaos of the annual arts festival.

We really enjoyed our overnight stay and wished it had been longer. Parking your car in Avignon is tricky in such a central hotel location. However, on arrival the car parking service dispensed with that problem and our luggage was swiftly taken to our room. The room and its facilities were lovely - stylishly furnished, beautifully clean and very comfortable. […] We had evening drinks in the courtyard but had already arranged dinner in a local restaurant. Next time we return we will definitely eat there as the food looked good. Breakfast was plentiful, very good quality and well presented. The staff were all helpful and overall it was one of the highspots of our stay in France. It's now definitely on my 'favourites' list. Mehr

We got a great rate through Hotels.com and we absolutely stunned by how wonderful this hotel was. They've installed double-paned windows that blocked all street noise, the bath was completely redone, the bed pretty comfy, and the staff were fantastic. All the concierges speak wonderful English and were so helpful to us with any requests. Three great […] restaurants in the square directly opposite, and the bus stop a minute away will get you to surrounding towns easily. A bit tricky with luggage from the express bus stop (we took that from the TGV station) but no more than a 10 minute walk. Charming town, great shopping, lovely sights. Mehr

Exceptional hotel and staff - the only hotel we stayed at in France where we really felt as if we were being welcomed, not just tolerated. I cannot say enough about the ambience of this facility and it's wonderful staff. Charming, warm and welcoming!

Perfect hotel in perfect location. Good example of classic " old style" European Hotel. Service Exemplorary. Room size small (base rate),beautiful size rooms on previous visits at higher rates.

The hotel was very nice, and was in a perfect location to see all the sights. The staff was very professional and very attentive. For those driving, the hotel had valet and was very easy. The courtyard for drinks in the evening was beautiful.

The Hotel d'Europe is a delightful hotel in a good location in the old town section of Avignon. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. The hotel and room decor were attractive, and the room was spacious. The only downside, especially in light of the extremely hot weather, was the minimal air conditioning in the room. The room […] stayed rather warm despite turning the AC system on to its highest level. All things considered, the price was fair and I would definately stay here again in more temperate weather. We had a lovely stay, at this historic old hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful court yard for breakfast. This is an old hotel so if you are used to new american type of hotels, this may not be for you. If you like historic older with lots of character this is a place for you.

Only spent one night in the Hotel D'Europe and Avignon, but fully intend to return to both. Firstly, the hotel is in a fantastic location, right in the heart of the action with plenty of bars and restaurants and the main attractions within strolling distance. The hotel itself is a very attractive old town house with heaps of character and a demi-grand […] interior. The staff were very helpful and spoke perfect English. Rooms were very comfortable, with all the essentials, decorated in a classical style. Hotel has valet parking and the main courtyard where you can have breakfast or dinner is the kind of typical external 'French' space you only see on postcards, but rarely experience - beautiful. As for Avignon, it is a stunning city, an absolute must for anyone touring the region. Mehr

Everything about this hotel was wonderful -- especially the service. We couldn't have been happier. We got a flat tire on our rental car during our stay there, and the concierge took care of helping us get everything straightened out -- we didn't have to do a thing! Also, the property was beautiful, and convenient. We loved it!

Un trato excelente, la habitacion comoda, los servicios adecuados, en definitiva una elección satisfactoria.

城壁から入ってすぐのところで、サンベネゼ橋や宮殿、プティ・パレまで歩いてすぐなので、立地はとてもいいです。ただ私達はレンタカーで移動していたので、駐車場も運よく近くに停められたけど、TGVなどで他都市からの移動だと、市内をバスで移動しないといけないから、荷物が多い場合は少しつらいかもしれません。 ホテルの朝食はコンチネンタルブレックファーストでしたが、美味しかったですよ。部屋は少し狭いですが、清潔で日中観光に出歩くのであれば、とくに問題ないと思います。もしアヴィニヨンに行くのであれば、もう一度泊まりたいと思うホテルです。

旧市街の中心にあり、どこに行くにも便利。 高級ホテルなだけあって、部屋も清潔で、シャワー室、バスタブ両方あり、居心地がとてもよかった。
