Beach Plaza Hotel - Long Beach

Wenn man Luxus sucht, darf man dieses Hotel nicht buchen. Wenn man aber einen erholsamen Urlaub in direkter Strandlage verbringen möchte, kann ich dieses Hotel nur empfehlen. Gerade im hinteren Gebäude ist es absolut ruhig. Man hört lediglich das sanfte Rauschen des Meeres. Zudem ist die Lage, was auch die Verkehrsanbindung anbelangt, einzigartig. In […] unmittelbarer Nähe befindet sich die Bushaltestelle (Busse fahren in kurzen Intervallen und kosten 1,5 Dollar bis nach L.A.)und auch ein kostenloser Parkplatz wird vom Hotel angeboten. Das Hotelpersonal ist ausgesprochen liebenswürdig und hilfsbereit. Die Internetverbindung läuft störungsfrei. Das Bad könnte eine Renovierung vertragen, aber dafür ist das Kingsize-Bett ein Hammer. Und es gibt auch täglich frische Handtücher. Umgeben ist das Hotel von Parkanlagen. In wenigen Minuten findet man sein ganz persönliches Breakfast. Da ist die Park Pantry sehr zu empfehlen. Wer ausgedehnte Strandspaziergänge liebt, ist hier ebenfalls richtig, da das Hotel direkt mit dem Strand verbunden ist. Um es auf den Nenner zu bringen: Kein Luxus, aber zum wohlfühlen. What a great little hotel. On the beach what more could you ask for. The front desk staff was beyond terrific! I will stay here again!

The furniture was NASTY!

We loved the beachfront location, even though our room did not face the beach, it was a few steps away. However, the hotel has not been upgraded for many years. there were lumps of something unknown under the threadbare carpet. The pillows were lumpy and the linens, though clean, were worn. The "breakfast" consisted of store-bought muffins and coffee, […] so we went elsewhere to eat. The hotel was generally quiet, and staff responded to any concerns we had. The location is its best feature; in addition to the beach it is right on a bus route and a few minutes from Belmont Shore and downtown Long Beach. Mehr

Location iz awsome! Staff is very friendly and helpful. There was some mess at the beggining - no free room with two quin beds we booked with my colleguae. So we had to stay in separate rooms first nignt. Nicole at reception has solved this problem next day, and we moved to double bed room. The Beach Plaza is a pleasant hotel with a great location on the beach and close to central Long Beach. It is situated next to a beautiful park. The staff were always available, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel itself is decent, but in need of updating. The rooms were neat and clear and seemed recently painted, but the carpeting and bed […] spreads were old, worn, smelly. The bed linens (sheets, pillow cases) were clean, new and fresh. The rooms seem to have been recently painted. If they replaced the carpets and updated some of furniture, the place would be amazing. The Beach Plaza has many good qualities, including an excellent helpful staff. I'd stay there again in a pinch. But, until the rooms are updated, I wouldn't rush back. Mehr

Unclean room. Room switched when got there, we where shocked at room given next to a party room and were given a 'larger room'. Guest and neighborhood loud yelling and arguing, police siren on premise. Room smelled, floors filthy. Very dissatisfied.

Lovely room. Would have been perfect if the mattress was more comfy (less hard), and the traffic noise was less prominent.

My daughters and I stayed here one night, awaiting a cruise embarkation the following morning. Like other reviewers have mentioned, the place is a bit worn, but we received a comp. upgrade to suite and the beach is right there--a guest pass key opens a gate to a priv. staircase to the beach, which also offered a great view of the Queen Mary and our […] cruise ship. We found a nice corner-deli-type place a couple blocks away, across the nearby park...good food, very kind waitress. Mapquest directions from the north kind of suck!...vague vear left, then right, then left again type of stuff. It was easy to find our way from the hotel to the terminal. Mehr

We aren`t corporate hotel kind of people, so this is perfect for us. Just wish it had fridge and microwave

Very disappointed. The room did not feel clean and or inviting when you walk in. The carpet was very dirty, ripped and had lumps in it. The bed spread was soooooo very old and had burns in it. Just felt like you did not want to touch anything. Very noisy from street traffic. I would never stay again....

This is a darling, off the beaten path, hotel. Great neighborhood, great location. Not perfect, but I like it`s old school charm. Restaurants close by. The beach is amazing. Downtown is close. We stayed 4 nights, just my son and I, and we felt safe.

We had a two bedroom apartment, with decently equipped kitchen (could have done with a few more pans, bowls and newer cutlery). The room was right by the pool, off-road and quiet, with a view of the ocean a 30 second walk away, and the beach itself easily accessible. The rate was extremely low for such a great apartment, especially for 7+ days. Staff […] were helpful and friendly, especially the manager, Nicole. This far exceeded my expectations after some of the dodgy reviews. Brilliant value for money. Was given a huge suite just for me overlooking the immaculate swimming pool (room 117) Very unassuming, old fashioned place, vey helpful lovely staff. Quaint 80s get-up inside room. massive fridge and cooker with a bit of cutlery, couple of plates etc, but […] no pans, so a bit haphazard in that respect, so if your looking for 21st C chic you're in wrong place.Lovely and peaceful, coffee and lousy danish's in morning. mattresses on both beds fine, one firm, other softer.would definitely return. The location was convenient and pretty...right on the beach. The hotel is a little worn, but most beach hotels are. Water pressure could be a little better. But all in all, good value for the price.

The veiw of the ocean was great, my friend and I really enjoyed our walk on the beach and our room was to our satisfaction. The staff was very nice and helpful with our map we needed to drive to Las Vegas. I had a wonderful visit to Long Beach and the hotel was nice and I probably would stay there again , only if I had ocean veiw again.

Great location right on the beach, and the price was right. However, we were assigned a room with no view, and there were plenty of other rooms available, but the gal gave us the worst room possible for some reason. Next time I will ask for a better room since I now know what types of rooms are available. Also our bed was saggy so not too comfortable, […] and there were ants in the bathroom. The hotel was right on the beach in Long Beach and proved to be a good stop over before we got home. I was surprised at the size of the room and the cleanliness. As soon as I walked into the 1st room we could smell a STRONG odor of GAS, I've called the attendant and he confirmed that other customers have mentioned that but have not found a leak. So I agreed to be moved to another room and could still smell the GAS. I work for a Natural Gas Company and know the odor. I refused to stay after due to the hazardous […] condition. They've not called a professional or the Gas Company to find the problem. Mehr

No problems with reservations, our first room had some bad window but there was no problem with switching rooms, good for one night, only bad thing the water pressure was poor.

I stayed at the hotel for 8 nights. The staff was very helpful & friendly. The room was clean. They could do some remodeling to te rooms. There is a bus stop right outside of the hotel. about 15minutes walk from downtown. Very happy with it, besides its age. I would stay there again. Price was also very good.

Great location (on beach). Wonderful ocean view with patio to sit and enjoy the ocean view. Walking path and great swimming beach. Rooms were older looking, but that was ok because the price was great. All the employees were very nice and helpful. Has washer and dryer and nice little pool too. The service was very nice, people very helpful and friendly. Location was great with a shuttle to nearby things to do. On the bad side, the bed and pillows were very hard and the water pressure in the shower very bad.

We stayed at this facility for my birthday. We were very impressed with the accomodations. The staff was very accomodating. We would highly reccomend this facility to anyone. If we could afford it We would be there a couple nights every other month.

Cozy, shows its age, but the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Check-In was a breeze. Parking was very limited as there was a race the next day, but other than that, the hotel did the trick for the night.

It's a simple hotel yet has everything you need. Location is perfect, rite between Downtown Long Beach and Belmont Shore. I would stay here again. Wish I had an ocean view room, it's right next to the beach.

I booked this hotel because I did not know the area and I thought that it was better to be by the beach, the reviews said it was clean and OK so I booked. I found reception to be very friendly during my stay, the room was clean and fresh smell too. Everything worked in my room. The only reason this review is 4 star and not 5 star is because I was in […] a room opposite the office and it was very noisy all night, but to be fair only about 4 of the rooms are located there and I'm sure the other rooms are much quieter. The internet works good and was fast. The laundry room was closed, and the breakfast is a bit of a joke as its just a pastry and coffee from a big pot. If you want to be by the beach then this offers very good value for money. Mehr

We stayed here for three nights when we went on a whale watching cruise. The hotel staff was wonderful, very polite and friendly. The room was fine, except that there were only two outlets to plug things into and they were behind things. Curtains could use improvement. The location was perfect and we found a very nice cafe a couple of blocks walking […] distance for breakfast that was grand. Couldn't beat the rates! Overlooks the harbor and has benches to sit on and view the Queen Mary. Nice beach walking path below but we didn't have time to take it. Mehr

The only down side to this hotel was that the furnishings and building were old. Old carpet, old couch, old windows. It was clean and the service was good. This hotel is right on the bus line. This in sad, I see this small hotel competing with the larger hotels.

I had a wonderful stay at the Beach Plaza Hotel in Long Beach! My room was like a small apartment; very neat, clean, quite and in a great location.

I loved staying at this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. The view from here is excellent. I got the keys to the beach and we enjoyed walking down there for hours. I'm surprised at what I got for the price I paid - it was worth every penny. I highly recommend it. And I will go there again.

THE LOCATION WAS NICE RIGHT ALONG THE BEACH. FRONT DESK AND HOUSEKEEPING WERE GOOD. HAD A HARD TIME SLEEPING FROM NOISE FROM TRAFFIC AND KIDS IN THE POOL. ROOMS WERE SPACIOUS BUT NEED REMODELING. THERE WERE ANTS IN THE BATHROOM. PARKING WAS LIMITED.

Location is great, staffs are very freindly but room I stayed needs a lot of update from carpet to furnitures. I'm not sure if I will stay here again.

I picked this hotel because I knew the location would put me in the middle between downtown and Belmont Shore, plus it was situated just above the ocean. I wanted to walk for exercise and to avoid parking fees. Hotel itself has the basics; nothing fancy. Didn't utilized the continental breakfast, as there are so many wonderful restaurants to choose […] from. As for complaints, the hot water was scarce, and the mattress was lopsided. This being a 1 star hotel, I wasn't expected even half the satisifaction. The hotel is definitely outdated but amazing location if you want to be at the beach. Our room smelled very strong of bleach and the floors stained my kid's feet but it's old. The suites they offer look amazing. Going for one of those next time. And heated pool was a perk :)

Its not a Ritz or a Hilton, so don't expect that. I got the worst room in the place and it was still clean and served us just fine. Don't expect fabulous, expect to be a hop skip and jump away from the beach and a good location to reach shopping and restaurants a few miles away in two directions. This hotel needs alot of work in maintenance, The carpet in my room was torn in lots of places and there were metal wires from the old carpet exposed. You had to wear shoes the entire time in the room. Most of outlets did not work and there was no mirror over the vanity in the bathroom as it looked that it had been broken. I loved the location! I needed to be close to the Queen Mary for a performance on the ship and it was perfect for location. The hotel is on the water and our room had a view so it was great! The service was wonderful upon check in. The owners are a father and daughter and they were very friendly and easy to talk with. They even gave us danishes! The […] room was very spacious and the two queen beds were separated by a wall which was nice for privacy. The room was clean and had two ceiling fans. The only things that I feel needed improvement were: little storage/shelving in bathroom, lack of plug outlets, too close to the road and could hear noise. Overall, I recommend this hotel because it was in a nice area. It's definitely not the most luxurious, but it was quaint, cute and had a nice "beachy" feel. :) Mehr

This hotel had everything we were looking for to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. We love to bicycle and for a Memorial Day weekend I was surprised that right down the hill was a beautiful bike trail for miles and miles along the shore, all with very little traffic. The beach was almost secluded for such a lovely weekend. We rented quality bicycles […] from the hotel. We had a room with a view of the Queen Mary and ocean. The office help were very helpful for any needs we had. They recommended shopping in Belmont Shores which was a blast. We paid a little extra for a jacuzzi for two. Very romantic!! In the back of the hotel is a stairway directly to the beach, which is well kept. There is a nice park across the street and a great restaurant, Ambrosia,just down the street which has veagan and glutten free items for those with restrictions in their diet. There pool is small but well heated. This is not a 5 star hotel but for the price and location I feel it is well worth it. I noticed license plates of people staying there from all over US and met some people from overseas. We were on the first floor and did hear some periodic noise from the second floor but not of any consequence to me. The hotel was conveniently located to the Get Away Gondola ride we took as well as dinner dancing at the Sky Room, an upscale dinner dancing restaurant. We were a mile away from Shoreline Village where we saw a Melodrama. A lot of fun and laughs. We will be going back again!! Mehr

I picked this hotel because of the location. I had lived in Long Beach several years before this visit and, at the time, thought this hotel looked decent from the outside. The location couldn't be better and the employees were very helpful and friendly. The only thing that was bad was the actual room. The carpet is a deep red and not very clean. I had […] kids and after they took a bath I would make them wear shoes because if I didn't, their feet would be filthy from walking on the dirty carpet. I understand that this is right near the beach and people tend to bring the beach back with them, but it seemed like it was original carpet from back in the seventies. The hotel rooms need some serious TLC. If you are visiting just for the location and don't plan on staying in the hotel much, it's perfect. If your visiting Long Beach this is the place to stay. Right on the beach. Close to everything!!! Great staff!!!

The Beach Plaza Hotel is perched on a bluff overlooking the ocean in a nice part of Long Beach. There is a patio overlooking the beach and a city park next door. Ocean Blvd is trafficy, the walls are a bit thin, and my room just overlooked the parking lot, but everything was quiet at night. There is not a lot of shopping or dining in the immediate […] area, but there is a private stair to the beach and a terrific bluff top promenade to the south. I liked it very much. Mehr

Would be very kid-friendly too as it was also nice and quiet and right on the beach and across the road from a park and a playground!
