Mokara Hotel & Spa San Antonio - San Antonio

We stayed at Mokara Hotel in San Antonio for 8 days due to a conference. From the first moment, we were impressed by the hotel, its ammenities and its service. Whereas most of our colleagues stayed in nearby 1000+ room hotels (such as grand hyatt and marriott) and were disappointed by both their size and their price/performance, we were extremely happy […] to stay in the much smaller and more luxurious Mokara. On top, many small things made a difference: e.g. in a city where (for us, as Europeans) it turned out to be hard to find good coffee and daily fresh fruit, we were both happy and envied to daily receive as complementary 'refills' for the nespresso coffee machine in our large and perfectly equipped room and fresh organic fruit - as much as we wanted! Other things not withstanding, the Mokara and its friendly, efficient, and discrete staff contributed enormously to our happy and successfull week in San Antonio. We booked the room via hotels.com for the sold out George Strait concert. We booked a king but were given a double because of over booking. They offered to pay for our parking and got us a cab which is why I gave the overall rating a 5! Our stay at the Mokara was wonderful. The staff could not have been more friendly nor helpful--We felt very welcomed and made our long holiday weekend stay there very relaxing! The location is perfect; everything is in walking distance that you want to see in San Antonio (since we didnt have a car)--Petra, our concierge, was so helpful and thoughtful […] with everything that made our 10th anniversary celebration very special. Even something small like my baggage handle was broken by baggage handlers at the airport when we arrived; I simply asked for a small screw driver to try to fix it and they sent an "engineer" up to fix it for me!-- Lots of lovely touches to the rooms by the staff. The Ostra Restaurant downstairs/part of the hotel is also great!----While not "cheap" I certainly felt this hotel was worth EVERY penny for the comfort; excellence in service; and location for our brief stay.I asked when we checked out if there were other Mokara hotels (part of the Omni chain of hotel brands); unfortunately it is one of a kind---but next year I believe they will be opening one in Puerto Vallarta so will be planning a trip there again to see if this new Mokara is as good! Service was excellent! Employees really cared and went out of there way to be helpful. Hotel was beautiful as was the spa. If you stay on higher level you look at parking lot and hospital as well as some other tall buildings. Might want to stay on lower floor if you want better view.

The best hotel on the riverwalk or maybe equal to the best. Quiet, understated luxury with very personal attention. Room size, bedding were perfect... Opulent bathroom with deep soaking jacuzzi spa tub and separate marble/glass shower. River view is a must and you have easy access to the riverwalk from lowest floor elevator stop. Everyone greeted us […] and offered their assistance. Spa area was everything you could want.. Separate men's and women's areas with very comfortable relaxation lounge. Excercise room was top notch. Excellent accommodations, a very attentive, friendly, and helpful staff. The room was very nice. Easy access to the Riverwalk. Hotel restaurant and bar was very nice. Surrounding area was pretty crowded because of Fiesta week, but we will definetely return the next time we are in San Antonio.

The hotel staff were very responsive and welcoming. We enjoyed the rooftop pool and beverage services as much as we did the River Walk restaurant. This is definitely a location that makes you feel pampered and relaxed.

Wonderful hotel. It would be hard to beat this place, not just in San Antonio, but anywhere. Top notch all the way around. We had a room with a private balcony (from my understanding this is the only hotel with this feature, one other has shared balconies) and it was amazing. This was the last hotel that I stayed at on my week vacation, so I only got one night. It was the best service I have ever received. As soon as I got there they took my bags and showed me where everything was. The room was beautiful. They even sent up free champagne and strawberries. We had a wonderful three day stay for our anniversary. The staff was very polite and accommodating, but the concierge Petra went the extra mile. She had great suggestions, helped us manage our time, and made us feel like we were old friends. The restaurant and spa were both excellent, and the view can't be beat!

Spa services included in your stay and the facilities are beautiful. The bed and especially the pillows were so comfortable. Nice touches such as ice and bottled water delivered with the evening turn-down service. Not much of a view from our window, in fact we had a nifty vantage point to view a brick wall, but the room was so nice and the service so […] good we didn't mind at all. This was a very pleasant hotel with knowledgable and friendly staff. We were pleasantly greeted by everyone who worked there. There was terrific service without stuffiness. We were along the Riverwalk which was quite lovely. The spa services were absolutely excellent. The only downside was that we did not have a Riverwalk view but a view of a brick […] wall.I admit that we did not request it, though. Our room was nice and quiet. We had an excellent stay at Mokara. The great strength of the hotel is its low key ambiance and exceptional customer service. They pay attention, take initiative, and recall thoughtfully throughout a stay. If you are coming to San Antonio for work, or a relaxing weekend, the Mokara is the place to be. Even though they have big windows, there is little light that comes in due to neighboring buildings and you should just keep these curtains closed. We have stayed at this hotel before, when it was known as The Watermark, and have always enjoyed the atmosphere and beautiful location on the Riverwalk. This time, however, we decided to splurge on the Spa, and really had a blast being pampered from head to toe. But first, a word on the overall service at Mokara. Every employee, and I mean EVERY EMPLOYEE, […] is courteous and eager to help. You really feel like royalty here. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet -- for the most part. Because we have always requested a river view room, there is some noise from the Riverwalk below, but nothing that would disturb one's sleep. And we were in San Antonio over the MLK Jr. holiday weekend, where the largest march and celebration in the US take place -- at midnight, the cheers and revelry began and it was actually quite wonderful, rather than disturbing! Room service food is excellent, service is fast and friendly, parking valets are courteous and friendly -- we were very happy with everything. Please note, though, that there are many extra fees, although the wifi is free. Anyone who doesn't enjoy staying at Mokara can probably not be pleased anywhere!!! Mehr

My wife and I stayed here for our Anniversary. The rooms are on the smaller side but very comfortable. The staff was very friendly and exceeded our expectations as far as service is concerned. When they found out it was our anniversary, they sent up a complimentary bottle of champagne, strawberries and a very nice card signed by several staff members. On […] another occasion my wife left some items in her car and needed them before we went out. When she called down to valet to have the car brought forward, the guys just asked what she needed, retrieved the items from our car and brought them to our room. Seriously, I could have lived in the bathroom of our room. It was AMAZING!! Jacuzzi tub, separate shower, private potty room, beautiful marble vanity, HUGE.....just gorgeous. Had a great 3 night stay. Staff were very helpful and engaging. This is a very different experience from the larger upscale hotel chains. You will get lots of personal attention like making sure we had chilled bottled water in our car at checkout. Highly recommended!

Perfect location and perfect, attentive service. Fresh fruit placed in the room for an evening snack, and turn down service complete with slippers, silk eye covers and freshening mist on the pillows. The gorgeous spa was an added bonus.
