Gran Hotel Torre Catalunya - Barcelona

The staff were incredibly helpful throughout and provided some of the best customer service I have ever experienced in a hotel of this grade. Whilst convenient for the train station and metro (and great for visiting Sintre), it is though some distance to walk to the city centre.The hotel was very good value overall and exstremly good for its type.

This hotel is pretty clean and our room was fairly good sized. It is right next to Sants Estacio (train station) and a big supermarket next door. It's clean and comfortable enough (all tile, no carpet, though). Only two negatives: 1. we booked a King bed and were given two twins because they ran out; and 2. the sliding door to the bathroom was broken […] and hard to use. It's a 10 min metro ride or a 45 min walk to Rambla and other central areas. Mehr

The hotel is very modern with a great view of the city especially from the higher rooms. The room are quite large and airy with plenty of wardrobe space. The bathroom is large and has a separate bath and shower. We did not have the opportunity to eat in the main restaurant but the lounge on the ground floor serves a good lunch at reasonable prices. Staff is nice, location is good, just 2 min walk to the big station Sants so that easy to go anywhere in the city. Room is big compared to other Europe hotels. BUT our room has no view at all, just can see the opposite rooms. Another pitfall is there is NO hot water facility (kettle etc) so everytime we have to order hot water from house keeping.

Enocuntered a host of issues during our stay which were so bad it prompted me (a person who never bothers to leave reviews) to warn the masses; * Double bed was actually 2 singles pushed together that proved to be far from comfortable * Room service menu out of date and the updated menu we had to personally request offered little choice * Failed to […] replace tissues and other adhoc items as part of daily clean * Turkish bath was not a Turkish bath.....more a sauna made of ceramic with a pungent odour. * On the subject of pungent odours there was an unpleasant odour as you entered and exited the Hotel * Staff tried to convince us to pay an extortionate amount per day for internet use but also failed to disclose that it was free if used for under 5 mins (found out myself on the last day of visit) * Spa area was unmanned throughout our stay * Gym area was tiny and poorly equipped Mehr

Hotel was ok, clean, location not far from main points of attraction. Close to the train station and local bus stop. Breakfast was good, american style buffet - pls at an additional cost, very scenic view from the restaurant. Nothing extra special for the price.

Great deal at this hotel . Train station across street to take us to the airport. Great views. Ask for a high floor for the best views. Would stay there again

This was a nice hotel convenient to most places we wanted to go by public transportation. Across from train station, so if traveling to another destination by train, would be quite convenient. We requested a superior room, which was a very nice large corner room. One major problem we had was there was music festival going on at a park outside our window […] all four nights we stayed 8/25 to 8/29. Latin music so loud, our room actually vibrated!! Started about 4 PM, stopped at midnite the first 2 nights, but Friday and Saturday, went on til early morning..at least 4 am! . I complained to front desk, they offered earplugs, which I did try and was able to get some sleep the first few days, but the weekend was just way too loud. Went to front desk and complained that I should have been notified at check in that this was going on, but clerk told me it was up to my booking agent to have notified me (which was hotels.com) . The last night, they did offer me a room to sleep in on opposite side of hotel with no charge. Wish I would have done that earlier. Not sure if this is a once a year event, but would definitely advise checking it out prior to booking if you want to sleep at all (which most of us want to do on vacation.) Mehr

the bed was hard but that was the only bad thing. great location, next to a major metro station about 3-4 stops from Las Ramblas. you cant really walk to major atractions, too far for that. They charge extra for using the gym, sauna and pool :-(

The hotel is located outside of Las Ramblas & the city center however, it is right next to the metro station which makes it convenient especially for the reasonable price we got. Our hotel room was large with a very large bathroom & it was very clean. The only downside was our Internet did not work but the hotel sent someone to fix it right away & even […] gave us complimentary wifi in the lobby as an apology. There's nothing much to do around the hotel & it's also located right next to the train station which is a little sketchy at night, but if you're looking for a nice, 4-star hotel at a decent price, Gran Hotel Torre is an excellent choice. It's a great way to get evrything you want, a good priced hotel & still just one metro away from the city center! Plus we were able to get on the hop on hop off bus just across the street too! Mehr

4 Nights and 5 Days in this Barcelona hotel to conclude three week trip to Spain. This hotel was exactly as promised, as per booking. Hotel staff was courteous and hotel rooms were perfect for size, climate and amenities for nightly cost (by European standards). Location is excellent for access to Metro station (one block away) or to Barcelona Sants […] Train Station (right across the parking lot). The Visual Restaurant (top floor) offers an excellent view of Barcelona and price of breakfast buffett is on par for what it offers. Would highly recommend for other travellers going to Barcelona ! This hotel was the best hotel we stayed in throughout europe. We stayed in Italy, France, and Spain and this hotel was the best. It was the biggest hotel with a big bathroom. The bathroom had a big shower and big bathtub. The air conditioning worked great and the beds were very comfortable. This hotel had the biggest room and was actually cheaper than […] other hotels we stayed in across Europe. It is located right across from the train station and right down from the metro, so it made it very easy to hop on the metro to get anywhere in the city. The metro system is very easy in Barcelona. When we go back to Barcelona one day, we will definitely stay at this hotel. I would say it's a 5 star hotel with a 3 star price!!! They also had a great staff that was very friendly and helpful!! Great location, outstanding spa and gym, pleasant and helpful staff, good food, large room, speedy responses to requests, BUT... The bed was supposed to be King Size but it was two beds pushed together and it was extremely uncomfortable. We had back aches every morning. As a couple, getting together in the middle was not happening. The bed was so hard […] they came a put 3 blankets under the sheet and still it made little difference. We had settled in and were tire from a long trip so we didn't change rooms. The bed was the only sore spot about this hotel. The staff was very helpful and pleasant. Mehr

very convenient with train, subway across street also bus service. Friendly, helpful staff. Market on corner with grill serving breakfast, lunch and supper. Food was good and reqasonable. It was interesting checking out the market. We really enjoyed this city and would visit again and stay in this hotel

Great hotel for the money. Far superior to hotels in touristy areas. I'd definitely stay here again, even though there are better locations throughout the city.

Hotel was okay, nothing great. It was close to the train station and a metro station so it was good for both of those. Otherwise, we would not stay at this hotel again. Do not get the buffet in the morning. It was way overpriced and not worth it. Also, they charge you for the use of the internet. They told us we could use the business center and had […] 10 minutes free (which they never said when that was up) and when we checked out, they charged us for being on longer than 5 minutes. We thought it was very cheap that they did not even let paying hotel guest use the computers in the lobby. We would not stay in this hotel again. Mehr

The room we had was spacious and nicely decorated even by American standards. The bathroom was larger, clean, all marble, with a tub and a walk-in shower big enough for 3 people. My wife is very sensitive to noise, so I asked the front desk for a quite room and they gave us a room on the 10th floor that was not only quite, but had a panoramic view of […] Barcelona. The staff were very helpful in giving us recommendations and directions. The hotel is right next to Sants terminal which is very convenient for taking the metro to any place you want to go in the city or taking the regional train to other cities or to and from the airport. I would stay at this hotel every time I'm in Barcelona. Mehr

We returned to our room after a day of touring and found that something in the bathroom ceiling had sprung a leak. I called the desk and within a few minutes house keeping sent someone to clean the mess. The manager immediately upgraded us to a better room with free drinks and free internet. The 23rd floor restaurant with its great view of the city […] is a good reason to book this hotel. We can highly recommend it. The train and bus stations were across the street. No need to pay the high taxi costs. Just take the train to and from the airport. Mehr

My wife and I stayed at the Torre Catalunya for the night before, and the night after, our cruise out of Barcelona. We were pleased. It's location by the train station is excellent for many transporation options around Barcelona. The staff were very helpful and friendly, including working directly with the airline (who lost our luggage) on our behalf. […] Further, even though we arrived early on one stay, and left late on the other stay, they accommodated us in the room for our extra time with no questions or problems. The room was clean and comfortable. We got the breakfast (extra 12 Euros/person if you sign up at check-in), which is a bit expensive - but the breakfast is a full buffet (fruits, breads, eggs, meats, cheeses, juice, tea/coffee, etc.) and is in the top floor dining room with impressive view of the city. The main disadvantage of this hotel is that not too many things in Barcelona are in easy walking distance, so you need to use bus, subway, etc. Also, neighborhood to the northwest is a bit sketchy. We really liked this hotel. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. It was very close to the train station, so we got a train from the airport and we were literally next door to the hotel. The location was good. It wasn't exactly in the centre of town, but was only about 30 mins to la ramblas via 2 subways. One thing that did annoy us was that […] the extras were very expensive. For example the internet was almost €5/hour, and tea/coffee making facilities cost €15 for the duration of our stay. We actually saw a kettle on sale for €10 so it would have been cheaper to buy one. This took from the experience a bit as we felt a bit ripped off. Also we didn't go near the bar/restaurant after seeing the price on the menu. Mehr

We stayed here for the last night of our honeymoon, since we were flying back to the states out of Barcelona. It is just next door to the train and metro stations, which made it super convenient for easy travel to Las Ramblas and the airport. The concierge, Miguel, was exceptionally friendly and informative. He helped us navigate the train and metro. […] The breakfast buffet was overpriced, but had pretty good food and a large variety of it. The view from the top-story restaurant is not to be missed. Really enjoyed soaking in the large bathtub. Our only complaint is that when we called down to get an iron delivered our room, we never got one. But otherwise, everyone was friendly and our stay was very pleasant. Mehr

The service was excellent and the food great and would recommend it to others

We choose this hotel after reading the other reviews from hotels.com and tripadvisor. The room was very spacious (Esp for Europe), very clean with a modern feel. The hotel is located right across the street from a metro and train station which made getting around the city extremely convenient. The staff all spoke English well and was quite friendly […] and helpful. The spectacular Font Màgica show was a short 15 minute walk up the street. Mehr

Great location, 2 minute walk to main train staion, subway and the terrific BusTouristic. Room/beds were good, view of the city from our room and especially from the 23rd floor restaurant were spectacular.

Clean and comfortable, close to the train station (train to airport for 1.35 euros). Close to metro station, quick trip to La Rambla. Bar/lounge food is excellent, prices are reasonable. Highly recommend to everyone.

Very convenient location close to train station and the metro. Can get to virtually any of the spots of interest in Barcelona by metro within about 15-20 minutes. Outstanding view of the entire city from the top floor restaurant, which serves a very good, reasonably priced buffet breakfast.

Room was a good size, housekeeping was okay, but the staff were very helpful and the hotel is next to the train station and metro - very convenient.

Rooms were great, bathroom was incredible. And the location cannot be beat -- right next to the central metro for access to all the city. I will most definitely stay here again!

This hotel is a little of the main drag of Las Rambles but quite honestly it was nice to get away from that craziness. A few minutes walk from the Art museum and the 1992 Olympic Stadium (which we happened to see a Madonna concert in while we were there).

This hotel is very convenient for getting to and from the airport. The bed was quite hard. The ice machine was broken, but room service promptly brought ice to the room when we reported this. It was fairly loud, with noise both from the street and from the hall.

This hotel is conveniently located near the Barcelona Sans station. This is the main station for the metro, RER and RENFE (spanish railroad). The area is safe, clean. The room was very modern and clean. The only problem was the bed was too hard.

We arrived at the hotel 9:45 am from an overseas flight and the room was available for early check in at no extra charge. The hotel staff at the front desk were extremely friendly and spoke english. They were very knowelegable and helped plan our sightseeing for that day. We stayed at the hotel one night and boarded a cruise the next day. The train […] station was a 3 minute walk to the hotel. The train was very convient to get to all the attractions. We used the train to go to the cruise ship terminal as well. It was about a 25 minute walk from the train to the cruise ship terminal. The mattress was kind of hard. The hotel was in excellent condition. Mehr

I took a long time choosing a hotel and this did not disappoint. Our room was amazing, definately worth gettin an executive room. We were on the 18th floor, the view was superb, the room was massive and well equipped, as was the bathroom, best hotel room ever. Hotel staff could not b more helpful, spa was good too. Didnt eat in restaurant because of […] price, but worth sittin up there with a drink. Location also excellent, no searching for hotel, right next to metro, bus and train station, but city centre also in walking distance. I only hoped the hotel would live up to it's reviews, and it most certainly did! The room was very spacious, the marble bathroom was luxurious and the view was awesome and went on forever, and the staff was very helpful and spoke English well! One of the best and best value European hotels I have stayed in. Room and especially bathroom was spacious and clean. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. Location is not in the most central area - so it is not walking distance to most sites, however it is next to a large train/metro station, which has several lines so is actually very convenient. […]  A couple small things to be aware of however. Firstly The aircon at the highest setting is not very cool and there is no extractor fan in the bathroom - so in the summer the room can take quite a while to cool down. Secondly, for a 4 star hotel, there are items missing that you'd usually find, eg more toiletries (only shower gel and shampoo supplied), robe, slippers, ketal etc.. however there is a large supermarket downstairs so if something is missing it isnt too inconvenient. from the moment we arrived until the moment we left we could not have been better looked after.the staff at reception set a precedent for all the other departmens.the food was excellent and its one of the few modern hotels that actually has a lounge bar.even on leaving we were offered the facility of having a shower even though we had checked out.i […] will definately stay there again. It is so common to have free access of internat included in the room facilites as well as free Wi-fi service @ hotel common area in most moden cities. But not for this hotel.
