das hotel ist sehr extravagant.die lage ist nicht geeignet um land u.leute zu erkunden.das regenwaldreservat el yunkee befindet sich in unmittelbarer umgebung.das hotel ist eine klasse für sich.erholungssuchende kommen hier voll auf ihre kosten.wer allerdings party u.nachtleben erwartet ist hier fehl am platze.die restaurants auf dem gelände(3an der […] zahl)sind völlig überteuert,das angebot ist absolut nichts für ein hotel in dieser lage.es fehlen gute alternativen.einzig die pollbar ist zu empfehlen,freundliches personal u.das preis-.leistungsverhältniss stimmt.man sollte im urlaub nicht geizen,aber wer ist schon gewillt für einen gemischten salat,mit eigenwilliger sosse,knapp viele dollar zu bezahlen.wir sprechen hier von einem minisalat,den es bei uns zum essen dazugibt.auch abends ist das hotel sehr tot,weil es keinen zentralen anlaufpunkt im hotel gibt.für uns war das ok.,wir hatten eine anstrengende woche hinter uns u.auch schon eine kreuzfahrt gemacht.es war sozusagen der ausklang eines super urlaubes.wir wollten einfach nur relaxen. When we got there, out room had been overbooked, they tried to give us a "discount" but it was the price of the downgrade of the suite. The service was horrible, I didn't see out "Red Level" buttler other than the first night. I had to call for housekeeping, because at 2:30pm out room wasn't clean... overall.... DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!

Hotel was just as described on their website. We did the Red level service and found the extra full buffet breakfast, private pool with 'beds' for free, private lounge with service, and cocktail hour along with convenient room location made the extra price really worth it. The Yunque Forest is close by and well worth the trip if you want a good hike […] and fun waterfall swim. The only thing we would change is more food options on site. Mehr

The room was amazing.. The bathroom was huge. The hotel was very clean. people were very nice. Words cant describe this amazing experience. I would always stay here if i ever come back.

We had a wonderful stay and won't hesitate of going back..The service was good and the staff are very pleasant..Beautiful scenerio with the ocean in one side and the mountain in the other side...We will be back...

Hotel maintenance and surroundings were beautiful. However, housekeeping took our towels and did not leave replacements. I had to use a bath towel for a floor mat which was fine, but then i was short one bath towel. I did not want to bother anyone so i used one of the beach towels. My wife and I took our 1-year old daughter here for a good friend's wedding. The first two nights were reserved under the brides name, the final three were reserved under our name. We had a very nice time. Weather was fantastic and people were friendly. When the room reservation changed from the bride's name to our name, there was a slight mix up and […] we were temporarily locked out of our room. It was nap time for my daughter so I went to the front desk (feeling less than amused). There was a fairly long line of other people checking in, but there was a gentleman there 'directing traffic' and told me which line to stand in. Two seconds after I got in line, he came back to me and, because I was holding my daughter, said I should go sit down on a couch and he would take care of the key cards for me. Less than five minutes later I was on my way back to my room. There is a huge family friendly pool, with several different depth areas. We did not even get to explore them all, but were comfortable with our 1-year old in a couple of them. The pool is steps from the ocean/sandy beach. There are plenty of seats around to find a place to set yourself up for a period of time in the sun/shade. We utilized the restaurant (Splash) located right at the pool one afternoon/evening for dinner. It was good food. Expect to pay a bit more. What I would consider a $30-$45 meal is more like $50-$65. There is a small kid-friendly play zone beyond the pool that we found on the last day. Slide and other playground type things. The final evening my wife, daughter and I dressed up to go to one of the three restaurants located on the grounds. We chose the Puerto Rican restaurant. For $95 (not including tip) I got shrimp in a cream sauce, my wife had a nice grilled chicken and plantain dinner and my daughter had chicken fingers and fries. I had one glass of wine. This is a wonderful Hotel. the rooms are amazing. however you have to walk to the pool and beach. the services is great and the staff friendly. Our only complaint was that we didnot have ocean or pool view room.

My husband & I came here for our anniversary. Our room was spacious, clean and the bed was very comfortable. We didn't bother with the Red Level upgrade, and we still had excellent service and the staff was very friendly. We met some folks that were Red Level and were able to join them at the private Red Level pool. It was tiny and packed. The complimentary […] cabanas were nice, if there were any available. I wouldn't spend the money to upgrade unless you have no plans of leaving the resort. We prefer to venture off the resort, so it wouldn't have been worth it all for us. If you hit up the casino, bring your own mug. You can bring a drink in there and then they will fill up your mug for only a few dollars more than the tiny little drinks they are serving. ~$10/drink, but the bartender, Gerardo makes them worth it! Beautiful accommodations and grounds! Restaurants offer great food; however, reservations are strongly recommended to get a preferred dining time!

The resort itself is great - 4 different restaurants that area all very good - great lounging area in and out of sun. the pool is awesome if you have kids. nice gym. The golf course is fantastic. The only negative is that the resort is farther away from the tourist areas.

What a georgeous resort! The acres of polished marble and open air lobby will remain in my memory fondly for a long time to come. My initial impression brought thoughts of a high-end Hawaiian or Bali resort. The building design was unique and well planned. This is not your average mega-resort Vegas-style that so frequently dots the landscape of Puerto […] Rico. Rather it is a much more refined experience with detached bungalos connected by outdoor pathways as opposed to one large building with endless corridors spawning generic rooms with generic views. The service was very good and attentive and most importantly to me, AVAILABLE. The resort was well staffed. The employees were completely generous with their help. I was happy to tip for the services. For my husband and I, RED LEVEL is the only way to stay at this resort since it provided the privacy and exclusivity we desired for a relaxing trip. We'd rather avoid crowds if we can. Our room was large, immaculately clean and luxurious. No musty smell. We were steps from the groomed beach and RED LEVEL pool. The landscaping was harmonious. A sign on our balcony door said, BEWARE PARADISE and I would agree. My husband loves swimming in the ocean and this stretch of beach, although beautiful, was not his style of ocean swimming. Shallow for about 200 yards. But the water was pristine. I loved it. Tough neighborhood though, but close to the destinations we intended to see. There was also a lack of convenient restaurants outside the resort area. If you'd like to leave the resort you require a car. I would not hesitate to vacation here again. Mehr

The people working at this hotel have no notion of service. They are all in their own little worlds. My first room had bedbugs. When I asked to change rooms, there was no notion on their part of the distress I was feeling and no offer of apologies. This attitude showed through on many other occasions. For example, calls to room service went unanswered […] for twenty minutes on two different occasions! Also, they no longer stock the mini bars for some reason. It is also clear that they are not really putting any money into the resort. The golf was very good and the people at the course of standard golf course efficiency. I liked the bell captain. Other than him and the golf course, I'm sure there must be better alternatives. Mehr

The Grand Melia Puerto Rico has great potential. The Red level service was worth it for access to the lounge, but we never saw a butler. The rooms were clean and good sized, but they smelled a little of mildew. Also, no wireless internet available in the rooms. The facilities were nice, and the pools were fine. Casino could use a craps table. The […] beach is not a swimming beach no one really used it while we were there. It is a family style resort and not a lot happening, but it is fine for that. The neighboring Trump Golf Courses were first rate and that was why we were there. People from other Trump courses in the US were visiting. Enjoy. Suggest eating in Luquillo. If you have business to conduct in the greater San Juan area, this hotel is about 1.5 hours away and you do need a rental car. The hotel and surrounding area is picture perfect, swimming pool and golf extraordinary. However, if you dont leave the complex, your choice of food is somewhat limited and also very expensive, business travellers may not care […] but families with kids certainly. The beach area is nice but nearby beaches in Luquillo are much nicer and easier to get to. During the early afternoon or early evening, you can go to the "kioskos", a little strip mall of outside bistros and lower priced restaurants along the street from San Juan to Luquillo. The quality of the food is great but the places look somewhat shady and I do not recommend to go there late at night with kids. All in all, a very nice hotel with great amenities but far away from everything Mehr

Loved it!!! Can't wait to go back!!!

Upon check in taken and let in to someone elses room! Then found our room open an hour later with cleaning ladies in room. Cleaning suppiles were set on our clothes. Food overpriced and terrible. Breakfast ok at cafe soleigh. Red level not worth extra fee. Drinks expensive as well. Rooms were not secure so checked out early.

What a lovely place! After driving much of the day from Aguadilla, taking in sights along the way, my friend and I were ready for some indulgence, and that is exactly what the Gran Melia provided! Beautiful room, lovely grounds, excellent service! After a drink at the bar, we had a great time chatting with a local artist displaying her paintings in […] the lobby. Enjoyed the facilities the next morning (unexpected surprise of a late check out) & then headed to El Yunque for the afternoon - less than 30 min away - altogether lovely! Mehr

This resort is beautiful and well maintained. The staff was very helpful and courteous. As many reviewers state a car is a must! It's a scenic drive from San Juan (if you don't take the major highway) where you will run into beautiful public beaches, yummy local eateries and local towns. Try the authentic food and enjoy the beaches during your drive. Our […] room was very roomy, clean and comfortable. The resort was is about 15 min from El Yunque Nat'l Forest, 15 min from the city of Luquillo-home of Vejigante restaurant in the city that has the best authentic Puerto Rician Cuisine). We had delicious food on the resort. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast provided in our package, the wet bar's grill, and the authentic puerto rican cuisine at Passion restaurant-it was freakin yummy!! The two golf courses (Trump Internt'l) was pretty but not worth the $170+ to play. We opted to ride the rental bikes alongside the course instead of playing on the course. One caution, this resort doesn't provide structured activities or entertainment. It has all of the imentities you'll need but staying entertained on the grounds is on you (no karaoke, shows or activites provided). I loved the place, but got bed bugs and ended up with bites all over my legs and neck. I have photos to document this and when I have tried to contact the hotel with this problem, they brushed me off. This was the only place I stayed, so I know they weren't from anywhere else.

Everything on my stay at The Gran Melia Golf Resort was excellent but the cold water at the main pool. I shall return soon perhaps at summer time when the water at the pool maybe will be a little more comfortable.

My wife and I stayed at the hotel for our anniversary in a Red Level Suite. It was gorgeous!! The service, superb. The staff, very friendly and helpful. I have stayed in various hotels in Puerto Rico and consider this the best hotel for a romantic getaway.

The hotel is quite big, so you may get a room far away from the lobby. However, there are plenty of golf cars riding guests; if you want to be picked up just dial 0 and they'll pick you up in a minute. I would say that service was great!! We had two rooms (we decided to stay another night after we did checkout) and both were clean and nice!! I like […] the pool and lobby areas, they have bungalows so you can lay down anywhere. But what I like the most was the food. Local food restaurant (Pasion del Fogon by Chef Myrta) was great, a bit expensive but portions are quite substantial. Breakfast was first-class too. My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay @ the Gran Melia in PR. Both the accommodations and the staff are great. There is not much to do nearby the hotel but there is definitely enough to keep anyone busy on the property for few days. The only thing we did not like was the restaurant: Pasion. Red level food could be better.

The weather did not cooperate with our stay but this hotel is absolutely fabulous.....Pay the extra for the red level service it is worth every dime

I went just for the night for an activitiy and I wished I had stayed for more nights. The word is spectacular, the environment, facilities, area, room, wow, can't wait to return. Absolutely love it!!

We had a good time at this resort. The lobby and lounge areas is very nicely designed. The overall all ambiance was great. The room was not a 4 star quality room. Since the resort has other amenities, the star rating may have got a little higher. The landscaping is beautiful. The hotel is a little far from the SJU airport, a 30t minutes drive at least […] and rt. 3 is a very bumpy road. But overall we enjoyed our stay since we were not in rush to go sightseeing. Mehr

Hi, I had a very nice stay , the only issue I had was the smell of my Room, the first nignt I only sleep 4 hours. In the morning I notified in the frontdesk about the humid odors inside the room, but in the night, when I arrive to my room is still the odor. Great place to get away with your special partner. Complete privacy for adults. Not too many activities programmed by the resort.

I went to the melia expecting top notch experience When I entered the room it looked nice in the beginning after I settled in I tried to take a shower And the drain was clogged , disgusting, finished my shower quickly and proceeded to get into bed the bed stunk like old breath I had to dump all the sheets, on the floor I proceeded to call th front office […] and when I picked up the phone the mouth piece also stunk All in all it was a terrible night, in the morning I proceeded to talk to the person behind the counter and she oh I'm so sorry to here that but did not attemp to rectify the problem or even try to keep a costumer it felt like o well sorry but tough luck I proceeded to check out and went to El conquistador for the remainder of my visit, ohh the representative excuse was we haven't been occupied for some time that room must of been vacant for a while , thanks for a rough night Mehr
