Das Hotel ist alt. Es wird wohl gute und schlechte Zimmer geben. Unser Zimmer war so klein das man den Koffer kaum aufklappen konnte. Der Empfang war auch Personal bedingt sehr unterschiedlich! Von bekomme die Zahne nicht mal für ein Bitte auseinander zu sehr freundlich. Schade ist das in der Umgebung nichts ist wo man mal was essen oder trinken gehen […] kann und nett sitzt. Hatte das Gefühl das man wenn man über Hotel.com bucht schlechtere Zimmer bekommt! Frühstück ist OK. Mehr

Ein hübsches und gemütliches Hotel mit vielen verschiedenen Busverbindungen zu allen Sehenswürdigkeiten in Rom. Ein Zimmer zum Garten ist empfhelenswert. Das Hotel ist sehr, sehr nett. Uns hat einfach der Autolärm gestört. Das Hotel liegt sehr nahe zu einer ewigen breiten und sehr viel befahrenen Strasse. Ansonsten war das Hotel wirklich schön. Wer er nicht ganz so ruhig braucht, ist dort wunderbar aufgehoben.

Hotel Fenix ist ein sehr schönes Hotel in gehobener Kategorie. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, das Zimmer sehr schön mit Balkon und Dachterasse. Leider lag im Bett ein brett statt Lattenrost, was dem Schlafkomfort nict unbedingt zuträglich war. Größere mitteleuropäer tun gut daran, die Zimmer mit größeren Betten zu wählen. Das […] Frühstücksbuffet war sehr in Ordnung. Gegen Mehrpreis bekommt man anständigen Cappuccino, statt des undefinierbaren schwarzen heißgetränkes aus der Warmhaltekanne. The hotel is situated in a very nice area - a bit away from the noisy and very touristic areas in the center of Rome ( only ten minutes by bus). The staff was very friendly. It was a good experience to stay there.

Wir haben die Zeit dort als sehr angenehm empfunden.

Wir waren leider nur drei Tage in Rom, können aber dieses Hotel absolut empfehlen, da es ein sehr gutes Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis bietet und nur 5 Minuten mit dem Bus (auch Nightliner Linie N4 direkt vor dem Hotel) vom Zentrum und Fontana di Trevi oder Spanischer Treppe entfernt liegt. Unser Zimmer war absolut sauber, das Bad neu renoviert und hatte […] auch einen Balkon (leider zur Straße). Das Hotel-Team ist sehr freundlich, die Räume sind alle sauber und das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr vielseitig.

It was a great Hotel for a great price. The wireless Internet in my Room was sporadic though (they were going to have someone check on it but it was the weekend and Monday was a holiday). I am sensitive to noise and if you are make sure you stay in a Room that only opens on the Garden (like 36), as there are a lot of Motorcycles roaring by even at night […] (I used great heroes earplugs (Walmart) whick took care of the problem). Stayed in the hotel for 5 nights and recommend it. Pros: relatively cheap and good quality; relatively close to the city center (direct bus or 7-minute walk to metro); not noisy and green area; OK rooms; good breakfasts. Cons: slow wireless network.

I'm really glad I went with this hotel. It is not in the very center of Rome and it is not five star, but it is only a short bus trip into town (or a cheap 10 euro taxi fare) and the hotel was very friendly clean and great fun. Perfect for anyone looking for something nice who doesn't want to go over the top. I would definitely stay there again.

The hotel is a bit outside the city center - we knew that when we got there. But sadly the buses (even if they were quite frequent) where often very crowded, uncomfortable and slow. As for the hotel itself, the staff ranged from top notch to downright rude. I find it a bit hard to call this a four star hotel, but it would be a fantastic three star hotel […] :) The breakfast was OK. A little tip: Down the road there's a restaurant full of locals - because the food is cheap and very good! This hotel is a bit away from the center, has been located in the nice neighborhood and is well connected to the city center. Room, although not as spatious, has been kept very clean. Staff is generally friendly and helpful. As for the breakfast, it could be diversified and also, more frequently resupplied, however capuccino was excellent! in the residential parioli neighborhood within walking distance of the villa borghese and modern art museum, the hotel is a find in a city no longer the oasis for budget it once was. the hotel is a 12-minute bus ride on numbers 36 or 84 from central station, and the bus stops right across the street from the hotel. the nearest metro is bologna which […] is over a kilometre away. staff if accommodating and polite; breakfast is very good, especially for italy: one morning there were even blood oranges in the made-from scratch fruit salad. lighting lacks sublety, and furniture is dated, but these are the only drawbacks. I checked carrefully the reviews of a lot of hotels in Rome for spending a long weekend there, I choose Fenix Hotel, because seems to be almost what I was looking for (nice, quiet, clean, tasty breakfast, good services). So, the conclusion after three nights there - I recomand it for a few nights. Good things - nice decorations, I liked a lot the colors, […] confortable bed, good quality products at breakfast, cleaning lady made properly her job every day, the front desk managers knows how to smile negative - old hotel refreshed only in interior with some defaults, sanitary metals full of dirt under, elevator is a little nightmare if u are afraid of it, us, we took our chance and was ok. What I did not understand was why the fontdesk manager asked us some euro city tax, if on hotels.com is write that the final amount paid include all taxes and charges? PS Rome deserve to be visit! Take ROMA PASS and u save a lot of money and time by not taking all the lines! :) Mehr

One of my family's room was too noisy, can feel all cars were racing in surround you. Also , you must to check your room bill at the end carefully. The reception lady was too rude and asked to pay extra as we already been paid extra for a room of 3 persons.

I chose this hotel due to the good comments from other travellers, but I found a hotel that not only was far from the center but also not as charming as it looks in the pictures. It is run down, a bit dirty and the people at the reception were totally rude. Really not recommendable at all.

We stayed here for a short break to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and thought it was a lovely hotel. The staff were very friendly and the food was good & reasonably priced. Hotel is situated near a regular bus route which takes you into the centre of Rome. Overall experience was excellent, but felt the hotel was closer to a 3 star then 4 star. […] Would definitely recommend staying here. Mehr

This hotel is conveniently located near all the must see sights in Rome but far enough from all the chaos of the city. Friendly staff, great breakfast, great rooms for European standards, and best of all clean! I would recommend this hotel to any friend going to Rome.

My husband I really liked this hotel. It was a good 20 minute train ride to the center of Rome and 10 min. walk to the train station. However, we loved getting out of the city to a nice quiet neighborhood after visiting the city. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was great. The AC didn't work that great but we discovered that is just the way […] Italians use AC, it never gets as cold as we like it in America. The staff were great though and gave us a fan to use! I liked the neighborhood (quiet and pretty), the rooms were comfortable and charming (there was a balcony and full bath), and the free breakfast in the morning in the lovely garden was a treat. The metro is about a 10/15 minute walk and is easy to get to most places but it stops early - around 11pm and the cabs hike up their prices after that time so […] it was about a 12 euro fee to ge back. Hotel location is the only problema for foreigners who come first time to Rome but it's still a good choice for a short term family stay. The staff is very kind and freindly. We enjoyed the stay in this hot summer.

Stayed here for 5 nights on a recent trip to Italy and had a great stay! The rooms were a good size, very clean, the staff was helpful and the breakfast was AMAZING. The location wasn't the best. 30 minute walk to the main sites. Very close to bus and semi close to the metro, so it wasn't a hassle to get to where you wanted to go. Very nice hotel with a good size clean room and a nice garden. I was disappointed that there was no furniture on the balcony, but other than that I can't complain about anything. The desk recommended a wonderful local restaurant for dinner - so great we ate there every night.

Great Hotel and overall fantastic service. The employees were very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was very satisfying as well. Only few small things: Internet was extremely slow but it was free. My wife and I flew from Zurich to Rome so going from the Radisson Blu Hotel to the Hotel Fenix was a little disappointing. The room was really small and we are not very big people. The "safe" was just a wooden drawer with an "ancient" key that you can take with you once locked. We didn't put anything important in the safe because one tug will definitely […] open it. I bought a man purse and put all important belongings in there and carry them with me everywhere. The restaurant food was good and decently priced but the staff weren't very friendly (common of most low to medium price restaurants that we went to in Rome). We only ate at the hotel restaurant once and it is closed on Sundays. I didn't like the fact that we had to leave the room key at the front desk if you want them to clean the room. This was a little strange. Also, we had the "do not disturb" sign up for two days and they came in on the second day and did the cleaning anyway. I wasn't happy about that. Do not stay in room 43, there is a lady with a dog next door and the dog barks at night (and the lady yells at the dog) or when we were close to the door. Not sure why they allow dogs in the hotel. The room with the dog was marked "private." The TV was no good, CNN was unwatchable (static) but we didn't bother to call the front desk because we weren't there to watch TV anyway. The whole time, the room felt unsafe because there is no extra latch or lock for added protection. DO NOT call from the hotel phone even if you have a calling card. They charged me an arm and a leg because I was using the hotel phone to call home (USA) and I was using a calling card!...I couldn't figure this one out. When we checked out, the front desk showed me the bill for two phone calls and I tried explaining that I had a calling card but it was too early and the guy at the front desk's English was as good as my Italian so I paid him. Other than that, I would say this place is okay and would only recommend it with the above caveats. Mehr

Not being in the centre of Rome was, overall, an advantage as we escaped the crowds of the day. Either walk to Bologna Metro (1KM) or take a bus from outside the hotel. The hotel was very comfortable and very efficiently run, with good breakfasts. Staff were helpful and friendly. There is a very convenient train to Fuimincino airport from Tiburtina […] station - 2 km (or a short taxi ride) from the hotel. An excellent stay. Mehr

This hotel is a little off the beaten path, but close to transportation. The room was clean, and there was no such thing as a full sized bed for a single room, however, the bed was comfortable. There is continental breakfast that makes up for trying to go elsewhere. Evening meals were very good. The staff were the friendliest and most helpful .

Bus service right outside 10 min. to city center. Breakfast o.k. October too cool to enjoy lovely garden. Rooms nice size. Staff cool, seems typical for Italians in larger cities. Stayed 5 nights and would go back. WiFi at $5.00 @ day (when will they learn we are used to free in US) but free computer in lobby to print boarding passes.

WE STAYED AT HOTEL FENIX FOR 4 NIGHTS IN SEPT 2010. THE HOTEL IS VERY NICE WITH CLEAN, ELEGANT,SPACIOUS ROOMS WITH ATTACHED TOILETS. THE STAFF WAS POLITE AND HELPFUL. THE BREAKFAST WAS SAME EVERYDAY BUT WITH LOTS OF VARIETY TO CHOOSE FROM LIKE BREAD, SCRAMBLED EGGS, COLD MEAT CUTS, PIES, CEREALS, FRUITS,JUICES, MILK,TEA ,COFFEE AND MUCH MORE. THOUGH […] A LITTLE ON THE OUTER SIDE OF THE CITY, THE BUS STOP IS ADJACANT AND IT IS A CONVENIENT 15-20 MINUTE WALK TO THE METRO STATION. WE GOT USED TO THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM AND SO DIDNT FEEL INCONVENIENT .IF U DONT WANT A LOCATION IN THE HEART OF THE CITY, THIS HOTEL IS VERY GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Mehr

Very nice place, especially for the price. It was a little out of the way, but close to many bus lines. Most of the staff were very friendly and spoke very good english. The breakfast buffet was the best we had in Italy. This is a lovely hotel in a tranquil and pleasant neighbourhood which is only about ten minutes on the bus to the Termini area and a bit longer (highly variable, depending on the traffic) to Piazza Venezia. Every able-bodied visitor to Rome should experience at least one bus journey, the drivers need nerves of steal and the patience of a saint! Alternatively […] from the Fenix a ten minute walk through quiet, up-market suburban streets takes you to Bologna Metro station. The reception staff were very helpful and all spoke much better English than I speak Italian. They provided good advice and sold bus/metro tickets which was handy. Breakfast was good. Even though our room overlooked the main road the double glazing kept the traffic noise out. And the little balcony provided an opportunity to study Roman driving habits... Mehr

We arrived at the hotel using the underground metro service which runs from Termini. The Metro takes you to a place called Bologna which is the closest stop the the hotel. You can walk to the hotel in 5-10mins, its pretty easy to find, the surrounding area is quite upper class, we actually arrived at night and after taking a few side streets and onto […] the main road, we found it no problem. When we arrived at the hotel it seemed pretty nice, clean and well maintained. The gentleman at the reception wasnt friendly, he wasnt rude either, he just checked us in and sent us on our way. On arriving at the room I was pretty dissapointed. It held none of the former charm and character I'd seen in the hotel upon arriving and previously on the website. I realise that most websites show their best rooms but I'd have expected them all to be 4 star standard...this wasnt 4 star. In its defense though it was clean and had towels etc but it was very small and the decor was poor. The breakfast was a redeeming factor for this hotel which was at 4 star standard. Good continental selection, fresh pastries, cereal, eggs and fresh fruit etc. With waitors on-hand to help with anything. When we checked out the hotel the women on the reception desk was very friendly and wished us well. If i had booked this hotel for more than two nights Id have asked for another room but for the price I paid and the hassle of moving, it wasnt really worth the trade off. Its not a bad hotel, I just doubt I would return to it again. I thought this Hotel was going to be the best of the holiday because of the star rating but to be honest, the 3 star hotels we stayed in were much better. Mehr

Excellent Hotel, good breakfast, on good bus routes to city all for just 1 euro friendly staff, not too much trouble to do anything for the guests

This was our first experience in Rome and the Fenix was excellent. The room was nice, clean, and well organized. The staff spoke English (somewhat) and knew about great things in the area. The price was reasonable as well. Breakfast was nice as well. Highly recommended.

Very nice hotel in a good neighborhood near a major street. Metro was 5-10 minute walk away so we found it more convenient to take the 36 or 84 bus (stop was 1/2 block away at most) to the train terminal to catch metros to anywhere in the city. Although not near the center of the city the Fenix is a great bargin and I highly recoomend it.

staff at the front desk was very impersonal, the place (elevator, room, etc) was small and not very close to a metro-station.

We loved this hotel which included very friendly service, nice breakfast each morning, excellent location, great neighborhood, and comfortable albeit small rooms. We would happily stay here again next time we return to Rome.

we had little problem to find the hotel on our 1st day, since we took the bus and it was dark at the time. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The room is very small even in European standard. But clean, well organized. We stayed 4 night, got used to after a day. Breakfast was very good with lots of choice. It was close to bus stop, we used bus […] 36 from Termini station. The hotel was a good choice, It is located in a good and safe locations ( many embassies around). The bus station in close to the hotel and you can reach the center (termini or venetia plazza) in 15-20 mins. This is not an invocenient because even if you stay in the center you have to take the bus because the distances are big. The rooms where clean […] and the staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was ok, but it would have been nicer to have a litle diversity in the menu. From the looks of the hotel in the exterior and from our room it could be a 3 star hotel, but the services where for a 4 star hotel. I recomend this hotel for a visit to rome, because its in a good safe, and quiet aerea. It has a supermarket close by too, witch i recommend beacuse the food from the restaurants in rome its very poor. Mehr

We had to take bus everywhere we wanted to go. The staff was great, they were helpful. The room was clean and plenty of space. They had a nice courtyard outside for breakfast. This place would be my first place to stay at if I visit Rome again.
