My 12 year old daughter and I loved the hotel. It was comfortable, clean and attractive. The staff were friendly and professional. It was unfortunate that our room didn't get cleaned for 2 days - perhaps due to a confusing conversation between my daughter and the chambermaid.Very convenient and fun being on Cuba Street, and within easy walking distance […] of shops, restaurants, the Sunday markets ... but not very pleasant at night backing onto a less savoury neighbourhood. Hotel room was basic but clean, and was a very convenient location would recommend for a low end budget.

the only thing that let it down was the very poor shower that was relly loose and would spray water everywhere.

If your looking for great location which is walking distance to everything and for just a little more in cost than a backpackers single room ....this hotel is perfect. Great $$$ value. The location was tough to find in the one-way street downtown maze. $20 for overnight parking and internet charges were high. Room was comfortable, lots of restaurants nearby.

This hotel is really a living night mare there is no drop off or pull in you have to pay to park you're car at the hotel and pay to park to check in when I questioned this I was told I was lucky in Vegas they pay 80 dollars to park . The room is a night mare all the toilet pipes run through my room so don't think about getting any sleep windows are […] in the room if you are 10 foot tall sadly I'm only 6 foot tall the tv is a old 14 inch tv if you can spot the screen you're lucky please don't waste you're money on this place , Mehr

Unfortunatel i stayed on a saturday during Freshers week and every Uni student seemed to making a noise outside the hotel until 4am. Then a room along the corridor started making a lot of noise from about 5am so I didn't get much sleep. However the hotel is very good for location and comfort but maybe not on a Saturday night!

We like staying here as we can walk to all parts of Wellington from this location. You can shop till you drop without catching any public transport. The mattress was ultra soft and may need upgrading. But........ for a short stay great as the location suits what we want to do. Enjoy.

Close to Te Papa - walking distance to Lambton Quay

Great hotel. Rooms are small but that was fine. Could get a bit noisey late at night but Homegrown was on and a few younstrs staying in the hetel.

though a small room it was very nice, clean and perfectly located on cuba street. It'd definitely be the first place I'd look to if I ever go back.

This hotel is clean, but the description is deceptive. When we went to the room, it was EXTREMELY small. The outside temps were very warm and there is NO air conditioning. This "hotel" is an old backpackers hostel that has been refurbed. At least we had our own bathroom. I just feel it should be stated in the description.

The room is very small, but there is a nice view of downtown, and the location is great. It's located right next door to a nice coffee shop. If you're just staying a night or two, it's perfect.

To claim a 31/2 stars rating without even a decent TV is interesting to say the least.

This hotel is located on Cuba Street, where there are many bars and restaurants, which makes it very convenient. The rooms were simple but satisfactory. The staff was reasonably friendly and helpful. The building is somewhat old and has a beautiful wooden staircase. There is an elevator. On the whole, not a bad choice.

Room was very small but clean. Found it a bit drafty so wouldn't recommend it if staying during winter as it would get very cold, and I was unable to access the wireless internet from my room which was inconvenient. But the location is excellent.

We go to Wellington for weekends to be out and about. This hotel is perfectly located on Cuba Street. We had no issues with noise and the place has a nice understated old world charm about it. Always stay at Comfort Hotel when I visit Wellington. Convenient location, right in the heart of Cuba street and close to St.James theatre. Love the staircase. Staff always helpful and friendly. Don't use breakfast facilities as there are heaps of great restaurants in immediate vaccinity that serve excellent coffee...and food, if you so desire. Rooms […] over- looking Cuba Street can get noisy. I was relocated last time and ended up in a really delightful room that was extremely quiet. I should point out that the only reason I ended up in 'the noisy room' was because I changed my booking and arrived in Wellington a day earlier than planned. Will go back to stay at Comfort Hotel. Room was small but adequate for the price and very clean. Good central location but Cuba street very noisy at night. Lovely breakfast in the dining room.

The Comfort Hotel is in the centre of Wellington's social scene. Lot's of restaurants and easy walk to all the centre city sites. The hotel is clean and modern but retains enough of its Victorian heritage features to make it interesting. The rooms are small but not cramped. Great if you are passing through or in town for business.

Very conveniently located on Cuba Street, close to cafes, restaurants (Logan Brown) and vintage/retro shopping right on the door step! Stayed 3 nights, very comfortable bed, clean room (our room was small but high ceilings helped) & no fridge.Only there to sleep, shower & dress. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. This hotel is conveniently located on upper Cuba Street, close to the cafes and restaurants and the funky shops. It is also convenient to the rest of the central city. Mine was just a short stay, and the hotel is good for that. However, the clean and comfortable room was small, so I cannot imagine a stay longer than a few days. The room was very clean with crisp sheets and an awesome shower! Staff were pleasant and helpful. I enjoyed staying in a historic building had character and a grand staircase! The room was small, but pleasant and suited our needs. I would happily stay here again.

This hotel was fine for just overnight but as there was no fridge in the room and the room was very small I probably wouldn't stay there much longer than a weekend. Bathroom and shower was good and beds quite comfy though. The room was also very clean which is always nice.

Great hotel for the centre of the capital of New Zealand. You can walk anywhere in Wellington,from this Hotel so don't need a car,but if you did need public transport there are plenty of buses nearby and taxis. The Hotel is In the midst of numerous ethnic restaurant, so whether your taste is Italian, French, Lebanese, Chinese, Indian or just plain Kiwi […] cuisine all tastes are catered for and at an incredibly reasonable price.The hotel has real character and guests have access , for a small fee, to a Spa Pool ,Swimming Pool and Gym. A 10 minute walk will take you to Shopping Malls,the Harbour, several Theatres ,Cinemas and the National Museum Te Papa. A great location for a Hotel, one which is clean friendly and not expensiveand has it's own underground car park. One minor point is that our room did not have a small fridge as some of the others do.I would imagine that in Summer that would be very useful.. Mehr

Friendly helpful staff. Lounge area nice. Rooms tiny and really small old fashioned box TV's. We didnt spend any time in our room other than to sleep, it was too small and a little depressing.

Good value hotel in a good location. Rooms are on the small side but fine if you just go there to sleep. It is clean and the service is excellent. Great restaurants and cafes nearby.

The room was small, but expected. The room was dressed to a high level and was very smart. It was conviently located right in the heart of Cuba st, with lots of food places to choose from. The only 2 complaints I would have is the shower curtain kept blowing in on us and sticking to us and the tv was a little too small with the main light hanging right […] infront of it. A microwave would've been good to reheat leftovers. Apart from that, would definately use again and would reccomend to everyone as a place to stay. Mehr

Lovely old hotel, in the heart of Wellington. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area. Very small room, but adequate for our needs.

Excellent location. Room was tiny but adequate and good value for money. Happy Hour at the bar was great!

If you are looking for a cheap accommodation then this place is not bad. Rooms are touch small to my liking but it is100 times better than All Seasons Hotel at Auckland. Staff are friendly and service was good.

Great service, fantastic value, right int he heart of the city. Only but is that our bed seem to have a broken spring on each side of the bed which gave us sore backs. But will be back.

Reasonably good location in downtown Wellington. Perfectly adequate room, though not luxurious. Good hotel facilities - cheap internet, laundry room for guests. The real problem was with nose. Good, basic hotel in a good, central location in Wellington. Close to the city centre and most major attractions. The on-site laundry facilities were a real bonus as well. Staff were helpful and accomodating when I dealt with them.

location of hotel is very convenience, but parking is big problem. I would love to have some information regarding hotel parking situation when make booking in the future.

The hotel is clean, modern and friendly staff. The twin bed room is good, with TV and modern finish. Better then I expected. The stay was great and I would stay there again. Other downside is Cuba st is a noisy location with lots of clubs and bars. If you are a night person who likes to go out at night, CQ hotel is the perfect place to stay. But if […] you are hoping to get a good night sleep, request the bed room to be a the Dunlop St side. and there was no fridge in my room, which was a shame. Mehr

I have stayed in many Comfort hotels over the last 10-15 years. This one in Wellington has to have the SMALLEST rooms I've ever experienced (outside of one dismal Parisian flophouse from my student days, 30 years ago, which I will never forget). The wife and I had to take turns moving around! My closet at home is bigger than that. No ventilation either; […] we paid extra to be at the back rather than facing Cuba Street but opening the window was a mistake because the kitchen vent was right outside - yuck! Yeah, the hotel is clean and staff are professional but this hotel just sucks. Spend an extra tenner and go elsewhere, and certainly away from Cuba Street - despite what the guide books say this area is not "hip" or "colourful" - it is dower, dingy and past its sell-by date. Great Central location, but Cuba Street can be very noisy at night, might need earplugs - yet I slept OK. Room was small but clean and modern and very competitive in price - I got an Internet deal. Only real downer, was no fridge. Apart from that - well worth the money - my wife and I enjoyed our stay in Comfort Hotel, Wellington.

The hotel was beautiful and good location for shopping and dining. If taking the bus or train into Wellington if is quite a distance from there. The local buses can only get you close to the hotel and you have to walk through the shopping area of Cuba St to get to it. Easier to take a taxi but more expensive. Otherwise, a great hotel!

I'm glad that we only needed the hotel for one night, as it was very small. The double bed took up about half of the room's floor space. Other than that, it was fine. If you only need it to sleep and shower, it's great bang for your buck. If you need it as a home base, for a few days or longer, I'd recommend something else.
