Palazzo Selvadego - Venedig

Ich war während meiner Aufenthalt mit 2 negativen Überraschungen konfrontiert-- 1) Obwohl das Hotel ein Aufzug hatte, war mein Zimmer von diesen Aufzug aus erst mit eine Treppe zu erreichen. Das heisst, mein Gepäck war nicht mit rollen in mein Zimmer zu transportieren, sondern das Gepäck müsste diese Treppe hoch geschleppt werden! 2) Das Frühstück […] und das Checkout waren NICHT in mein gebuchten Hotel zu bekommen, sondern in einen anderen Hotel. Dieser anderen Hotel war nur durch einen 5 minütigen Fuss-Marsch (draussen durch den Regen) zu erreichen. Mehr

Overpriced for the service and ammenitites. No wireless really. Did not work well at all but they would not consider giving your money back. Buffet breakfast was similar. Too much money for little food. Pressure into hotel services that did not work or was terrible with no money back for dissatisfaction. Money grab.

Right near water taxi stop and steps from st marks square. Couldnt have been in a better location. Modern room that was clean. Overall a great hotel. Was a great end to our Italy trip.

Unbeatable location in a zero frills hotel. Room was immaculate but tiny. Comfortable bathroom.

Palazzo Selvadego very convenience zone for tourist who want to buy brand goods. Its is very near to the Boat Taxi that can travel back to Main land or to train station. Front office staff is very kind and patience to guide us. Bad points of the Hotel is no mineral supply and when check-out time we need to go to the main Hotel (Hotel Monaco) to pay […] for the bill. This hotel is in an extremely convienent location, just 100 feet from the side entrance of St Marks Square. It's kind of a sister site to the Monaco Grand Canal hotel, which is a short 2 blocks away, and where you have to check in and out but it's very easy. I knew because I read that from a previous guest's comments on Hotels.com. The hotel and rooms […] are very clean and up to date...looked like a recent renovation. The vaporetta (water bus) stops right next to the hotel. There are many shops and restaraunts near by. Everything is in walking distance. I would definitely stay there again. Mehr

Lovely hotel with a friendly staff. Rooms are clean and very contemporary in design. Even though it is located very close to Piazza San Marco the rooms are quiet at night. I would definitely stay here again!

the hotel was fine and in an excellent location. i found it difficult to find as the address is a door at the back of the buildind. the actual main door is very discreetly marked.i did not realise on booking that breakfast is taken at the hotel monaco which is not ideal.

amazing hotel, at san marco. excellent location, extremely well maintained. we did find the place a bit difficult to find, because of the extremely small nameplate! Its close to the San marco Post office, for future travellers. Front desk staff were nice and cordial and very helpful especially giorgio.

The hotel staff were super helpful, the room was beautifully appointed and the hotel has a fabulous location. The only drawback is that there is no internet access from the room. You must go to their sister hotel (which is beautiful) a couple of blocks away for breakfast on the Grand Canal and for internet connection. We were in a Superior room. Excellent hotel with very good staff who were always helpful ,freindly and cooperative. Very convenient location for connection to airport . Wiil certainly stay there on next visit.

Once you check in, a little tricky to find, the staff more than helpful, clean, great location and would highly recommend.

More like a bed and breakfast than a hotel but we were happy with it. Great location, best inclusive continental breakfast we had in Italy (good bread and pastries - seem to be in short supply in Italy), room was small but comfortable, the room was advertised as 'King' but I think queen may be the largest bed the hotel has, our first room the shower […] design was poor so it caused a small flood when we showered but they moved us to another room without any trouble upon request, AC works well, everything is very clean and the design is stylish. Fantastic hotel annex of the beautiful San Marco hotel. Great location, two quick turns and you're into S Marco Square. (Check in San Marco, staff walks you a few "blocks" through venice streets to the Palazzo Selvadego) Desk attendant at all times so felt very safe. Very spacious room/suite with comfortable bed, seating, coffee table , desk, coffee/ […] tea tray mini bar etc. separate changing area and bathroom with door to bedroom that can be closed off. Breakfast served at the main hotel on the waterfront facing the entrance to the Grand Canal. Breathtaking.! Staff was outstanding . Would definitely stay there again! Mehr

Nice, clean, modern, inroom safe, shower and tub, now you can check in directly there and check out at Monaco Hotel (parent hotel). Beautiful breakfast on the Monaco by the sea...2 minutes walk from Vaporetto water bus...(yes, the vaporetto is the cheapest way there 13 euros x person each way..and you can fit big luggage...). At check-in we were told that we would be staying in another hotel down the street. We were exhausted when we arrived so didn't like having to go to another place. We stayed in a very nice room at the Grand Canal hotel down the street which was actually a 5 star and an upgrade. We were traveling with backpacks though so we had to unpack everything for […] that one night. For the other two nights we were moved back to Palazzo Selvadego. The customer service at the Grand Canal was great but the front desk at Selvadego was not helpful. We asked for mass times and where the post office box was and were met with curt unhelpful replies like "I don't know" without any attempt to look anything up. The breakfast both days was at Grand Canal and consists of a basket of bread. These rooms were very nice but the switching rooms, breakfast and lack of customer service at one hotel was not. Mehr

I highly recommend this hotel. The location is ideally located right next to Piazza San Marco. The accommodations were spacious and had a nice full-size tub if one wanted to take a bath. A nice luxury compared to other hotels I have stayed in Italy.

I had no knowledge of Venice before I booked this hotel but if I was to go back (which I hope to do soon) I will definitely book the same hotel. I cannot find one fault. The location is perfect, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel Monaco where you have breakfast is fantastic. Don't delay - book it today!

great hotel. great location. should advertise that you must check in at the hotel monaco (just outside the waterbus stop at san marco) and then they will walk you to the actual hotel.

We could not have been happier with our choice for our 3 night stay in Venice. The hotel is centrally located, steps from the Piazza and within walking distance to shopping, great restuarants and sight seeing-it was a bit hard to find but if you get off at the San Marco Vallaresso stop you will find yourself very close to the hotel and even closer to […] the Monaco where they are more than happy to walk you to the Selvadego. It's a very small intimate hotel but the rooms are so well kept, clean and we found the staff to be EXTREMELY helpful. An additional bonus is the opportunity in the mornings to have breakfast at the Hotel Monaco around the corner (both hotels are affiliated). Every morning we had our breakfast overlooking the canal facing Dorsudouro (spectacular). The breakfast was very basic (coffee, juice and bread) but where we sat each morning made up for it as it was just a great way to start our day. I would definitely recommend this hotel and if I ever have an opportunity to visit Venice again, this would be my preferred hotel. Mehr

This hotel is directly outside the entrance to the Piazzo San Marco, this is a fantastic location. The room was beautifully renovated and has a great shower, double sink, nice high ceilings ... no view, backs onto the Hard Rock Cafe ... this was not a problem. We went to the Hotel Monaco for breakfast, a bread basket and coffee every morning sitting […] on their water front deck. On arrival we went directly to the Hotel Monaco which is very easy to find from the Alilaguna boat line dock. The bell hop walked us over to the Selvadego and even took us up to our room. It would have been impossible to get any closer to St. Mark's square. I was nervous that the hotel would be loud, but it was very quiet, and very comfortable. The new bathroom was beattiful. I was very happy with the deal that we received.

Small, sister property to Hotel Monaco. Rooms are very small (compared to a standard hotel room in the U.S.), but they are functional, comfortable, very clean and with updated features (central air conditioning, hardwood floors, marble bath vanity, bathroom floors are ceramic tile, towel warmers, shower/tub combination, Hotel is located in a great area […] and short walking distance to a variety of high-end shops (Chanel, LV, Pucci, Zegna, Missoni, Prada, Gucci, etc.), art galleries, museums, basilicas, water taxis, restaurants, etc. Mehr

The Palazzo was a nice hotel with great service. The room was clean and I liked the decor. We were one level above street level, so it was a little noisy at times (due to the crowds and a loose stone in the sidewalk outside the window). Also I didn't particularly care for the shower since it only had a curtain surrounding an open area. It was basically […] an open space at the edge of the toilet. This hotel is in an excellent location, right in the center of the main square and shopping area of Venice. The room itself was large and bathroom was updated. The furnishings in the room itself are old and the bedsheets were not very soft. The continental breakfast was at the main Monaco hotel, and was overlooking the grand canal.

I do a lot of research on hotels where ever I stay. This was a great find for the price.

This is part of the excellent Monaco Hotel where our room was located right on the Grand Canal and at the water bus stop for San Marco. Could not be more convenient. Everything was 4 star as expected with no complaints. Room bathroom were excellent. But not enough English tv channels. Hotels.com gave us the wrong address and we walke right by the Monaco. […] If you book this stop at the Monaco after getting off the water bus and inquire. Buy a water bus pass for the time you are in Venice and use the water bus as a tour bus. Mehr

We did have some difficulty finding the hotel itself, and asked several waiters / stall owners , none of whom had ever heard of it. That said we were more then happy when we eventually did track it down. As per other reviews the easiest thing to do is go to the Monaco Grand Hotel, and locate PS from there. It is a very serene and calming enivronment, just what you need to escape from the millions of day trippers in the middle of July! Only negative was being looked up and down by an over zealous concierge at the Monaco Grand, where you go to have breakfast. We had our breakfast (some bread rolls and tea / coffee) on the terrace outside, overlooking the grand canal. You couldn't ask for a better location. Overall an excellent experience, and would thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for excellent value for money, who doesn't mind walking around 100 yards for breakfast. Mehr

This hotel was very nice for the location. LIterally right next to St. Mark's Square, were in the thick of things. The down side is that there is no room service(if you want this) and the shower (no tubs) was a right over the toilet with a draw curtain. Not what you would expect in a 4 star hotel. Decent size room in a great location. Basically two blocks away from the quiet end of St Mark's square. Easy to find: take a Vaporetti to the first San Marco stop and check in at the Hotel Monaco. Water taxis are super expensive (like 50 euro) so just do the water bus (vaporetti). Its worth it to be in the heart of Venice. And since its the annex of […] the Hotel Monoco it has all the fine touches like very nice bathroom setups. Of course the rooms aren't very big but its worth it. Mehr

What a find! The one picture or so on this site doesn't do it justice! If i wasn't traveling during the off season i probably couldn't have afforded it, but it was wonderful. We got there the evening of the snowiest day Venice had seen in a long time! Just look for the Hotel Monaco on the water just past St Marks square and check in there - it will […] save you a lot of time. Our room was large, had all the ammenities we could ask for - an amazing shower! We had breakfast at hotel Monaco with an excellent view of the Grand Canal (though with the snow we had to sit inside). The service was excellent. Clean room, large bath and centrally located. I would certainly go back (without hesitation). Only thing bad was that I was not reminded that breakfast was served at the Monaco Hotel (but that wasn't a big deal since I know that Italian breakfast's can be minimal).

I planned an 8 day tour of Italy entirely on Hotels.com, so I'm being very honest with my reviews. Salvadego was the most expensive room I booked the entire trip, but it was also the nicest. Rooms are spacious by European standards...very clean and modern. Nice fixtures and extras like towel warmers, in-room safe, coffee percolator. Breakfast at Monaco […] was simply a bread basket, but was still nice to enjoy a free cup of coffee overlooking the canal. Salvadego staff was great. Location was excellent...steps from Plaza San Marco, gondolas, shops, restaurants, vaporetto stops, everything. Easy water ride back up to Rialto or the train station or across to Academia and Murano. 2 or 3 TV stations in English. Everything in Venice is expensive, but I felt like Salvadego was one of the better values in the San Marco area. You can probably find a better room that is actually on the water, but it will cost you alot more. Save your money for the shopping. Tips: You will never find Salvadego on your own. Take a water taxi or vaporetto to the first San Marco stop, adjacent to Hotel Monaco. Check-in at Monaco and they will walk you around the corner to Salvadego (don't be surprised when you are treated like a 2nd-class citizen anytime you are in the Monaco. No worries...you're getting a better deal by staying at Salvadego). Wi-Fi is only available inside the Monaco, and it is expensive. Plan to get online at a cafe or Internet Point instead. Mehr

After reading the rave reviews, my husband and my expectations for the hotel were already high, but we were still thrilled that those expectations were exceded. The room was beautiful and spacious and the staff was helpful and friendly.

We absolutely loved our room at the Palazzo Selvadego. The location of this hotel cannot be beat- it's a two second walk to Piazza San Marco! Tip: Take the Vaporetti(Water Bus)- line 1- to the S.Marco Vallaresso stop. This drops you right in front of the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal Hotel. You will check in there, and they will escort you with your luggage […] to the Palazzo Selvadego. The rooms are huge for European standards, and the location is unbeatable. When we return to Venice, we will definitely stay at this hotel again! Mehr

You can book this hotel without any hesitation. Clean comfortable and steps from St. Marks Square. Our stay was very enjoyable. Mario at the front desk was very helpful in pointing out all things to do and places to eat. Their sister hotel (Hotel Monaco) which is located on the water around the corner is a much nicer place however I don't think the […] price difference is worth the splurge. You have your continental breakfast at the sister hotel and the best part is they offer a complimentary trip to Murano Island on a water taxi. We were surprised by the size of the room (it was large even by US standards) It was extremely clean and modern. If you take the Allilaguna boat to Venice from the airport get off at the St. Marks stop and you should see the tourist information office on your left. You can get directions to the hotel which is basically right around the block from there. We were out and about every night until after midnight and at no point we felt uneasy about our surroundings. Had to check in at Hotel Monaco(just off the water taxi stop at san marco plaza) then they walk you to Selvadego. Room was big and high vaulted ceiling, tv was so small, then again, who watches tv when your in Venice? Complimentary breakfast was awesome too.

Great Location, new room

Much nicer than expected. Large for European hotel. Pleasant and helpful staff. This is an annex of the Monaco hotel which you can see from the water as you pull into Piazza San Marco. Register here and they will walk you to the Selvedago. Continental breakfast on the Grand Canal is included and lovely.
