Hotel was good for its age and being in a National Park....food was very poor....hotel staff are outstanding. Ambiance of the entire property is worth all of the little problems

It was the worst $130 dinner that we have ever had. Breakfast was good. They shouldn't put families with loud small children next to couples looking for a romantic getaway. This wasn't what we experienced when we were there four years ago.

Quick and efficient hassle free check-in, great "drink hours" with piano accompaniment in the lobby with burning fireplace. Parking was a bit of inconvenience because there are not that many spots in front of the hotel. Dinning room service was accommodating and attentive; however, buffet style breakfast (scramble egg) was cold.

Hotel is old, but nice. The restaurant menu is very limited.

Must stay location! Stay in this preserved slice of history. Have a drink by the fireplace, sing along with Tom Bopp on the piano, and then go see the giant Sequoia trees at the Mariposa Grove. This is a great vacation destination.

We had the best stay. The hotel is old but very comfortable. We like it because there is no phones, internet or TV in the room. At night you can sit in the Lobby area and order drinks and desserts while sitting in front of the fireplace. On some nights they have live music by a well known local piano player. Our 1st stay at the Wawona was wonderful! Old charm, excellent staff, and you can't beat the setting! A little cold to go outside for shared showers but well worth it because of the location. The nightly piano player was also great. We didn't have chains & got caught in the 1st snow of the season. The sun came out for 3 hrs in the morning, melted the […] snow, & we were able to end a perfect stay by getting out of the park without chains. Mehr

Wonderful ambience, I would really recommend people stay here. The rooms were nice, not amazing but good. Restaurant food was lovely and service very friendly. LOVED to pianist in the evenings.

We enjoyed our stay at Wawona, the hotel was very convenient for Yosemite Valley. We were not able to book a room with bathroom but found the toilet/shower facilities adequate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. After dinner entertainment was provided in the foyer/lounge. A very memorable stay.

We had the best time staying at the Wawona last week and would highly recommend it to anyone. The friendliness of every single person we encountered was remarkable. Staying there is like stepping back in time in a good way - peaceful, slower-paced, gracious. Everything worked so well and it was run very efficiently. Beautiful, yet rustic old hotel in Yosemite Park. Breakfast buffet and breathtaking scenery. A long drive to the center of the park, but in a nicely situated quiet area of Yosemite. Very nice staff.

Historic hotel, superior food and service. Make sure what room you are getting and what amenities it has.

Great old hotel - we had a room in a cottage dating back to the 1800s. The room did smell a bit musty, then again we were in an old wooden structure. If you love the outdoors then this is a superb location to explore Yosemite. You can leave your car at the hotel as there were shuttle buses to take you to Mariposa Grove and Yosemite Valley. There was […] also a ranger hut on site to help you decide on walks and activities. The hotel also prepared a fabulous packed lunch (at a small extra cost). However if you love creature comforts then this may not be for you: Shared bathroom, no TV, no A/C (but there was a ceiling fan) and intermittent wifi in one part of the site. The bathroom facilities provided were very new and clean. It looks as though the hotel has started to undergo some major maintenance (we had our porch painted whilst we were staying there and it looks like a new water feature at the front). We had a very peaceful stay at Wawona and would love to return some day soon. Mehr

...sitting in an Adirondack chair on a large sloping grassy area surrounded by historical buildings from an era gone by. The BBQ spit is heating up, ready to serve family and friends alike during the summer months. Children playing in the pool behind you and the staff always available to help, inform and encourage a hike on all the nearby trails of […] the southern part of Yosemite. No tv, no phone, piano entertainment and storytelling in the evenings sipping wine and meeting new friends after a delicious meal from the dining room cooked with ingredients from local farms and organic meats. Then..afterwards... a stroll to your quaint , small, lovingly decorated room reminiscent of the period (late 1800's). If this sounds like the kind of experience you are looking for....enjoy a stay at the Wawona Hotel. Oh , for those of you who like to golf...if you can even add another reason for staying at the Wawona, they have a beautiful golf course as well! Mehr

Very expensive for what you get. The rooms are tiny, noisy, and the restaurant is closing at 9 pm. There is one shower for 8 rooms roughly. However the location is great. Keep in mind to remove everything from your car during the night because of the bears. The Hotel makes you sign a disclaimer.

A beautiful old hotel that has seen better days. In serious need of repairs and maint. Room: Linens worn out. Bed rickety. Not the cleanest room. Worst part of room was heating system (radiators) full blast or freezing no adjustments. Below freezing temps and had to sleep with windows wide open to avoid being cooked. Restaurant: nice setting. Food […] close to dreadful (dinner). Free breakfast buffet, food again uck. Hotel has tremendous potential, has great bones but needs major investment in the facility and more so, proper management. If you want to get away from phones, TV, computers, and step back into a truly authentic place to stay this is it! Only draw back is the walls are very thin, but you must remember the hotel is over 100 years old!

The lack of TV and telephone is unnecessary and backward. No internet connection is also inconvenient. The office is on line. There is no reason the hotel cannot, at least, supply and ethernet connection.

We were happy to be so close to Mariposa Grove. Breakfast was wonderful and so was the reception and all the staff. The inconvenience to go downstairs for toilets and showers was ok, considering the fact that we knew what to expect, had nice weather, and enjoyed the very nice shower accomodations in the bath area downstairs. Try not to get there too […] late for parking! And your GPS does not help you to find it; it does not receive a signal inside Yosemite. Mehr

Really nice, rustic hotel. Don't expect anything modern, the 18th Century charm is why you would go here. No TVs, most rooms have no bathrooms. But the robes they provide are very cute and it's a lovely experience. The restaraunt is very good. Service great. Grounds are unbeatable. Definately worth staying in the park itself. Locks to our room didn't work & at first keys didn't even work....had to switch them at the desk Hotel desk person was not very nice (manager on duty) Our 2 rooms were in 2 different buildings & 1 of our rooms had a double & a twin bed for a couple. I don't remember if hotels.com asked me what type of beds, I wanted, but they should have! Was told […] last rooms in the hotel.......completely booked up. Mehr

While the walls are very thin, you really are put back in time at this very lovely hotel. We have been camping at the Wawona campground 2 miles down the road for years and decided to come up a day early to experience the hotel. The rooms are comfortable, have ceiling fans which helps in the hot summer months. Heaters for winter. Showers and restrooms […] are near by the rooms with no bath. The dining room is absolutely wonderful, food fantastic. Service could have been served with more of a smile. They looked warn out at dinner. The breakfast servers were much better- happy and very helpful. We recommend you trying this very quaint hotel and any season. Mehr

Our stay the Wawona was outstanding. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was polite and informative. We will definately stay here again.

Arrived hotel around 9:15pm and the restaurant was closing. Needed to have dinner in the lobby with plastic plates and utensils. No basic amenities in the room because it's an old hotel in the national park. Breakfast was good though.

We paid more for this hotel because its in Yosemite. But actually, RD 41 is extremely slow with constant road repair going on. It takes over 1 hour to get the yosemite valley, longer than from El Portal. EXTREMELY hard to find parking if you come late. Room was very small and not clean. Bed sheet and pillow had obvious marks on them. Front desk was […] very cold and had not the slightest will to help. Breakfast wouldnn't open until 7:30. If you want to stay in this hotel and drive to yosemite valley, think again and choose a much cheaper and cleaner hotel elsewhere. Mehr

Hôtel vraiment très sympa. Un mélange de autant en emporte le vent et du centre de vacances de Dirty Dancing. Situé dans le sud du parc, cet Hôtel est à deux pas de la forêt de séquoias. Hôtel à l'ambiance Retro très agréable et romantique.Pas de téléphone, pas de télé pas d'internet sauf dans une salle éloignée . Nous avions une chambre avec sdb avec porte communiquant vers une autre chambre. L'insonorisation était nulle et j'ai dû élever le ton pour que les voisins consentent à baisser la voix et le volume de leur ordinateur vers […] minuit 30. Nous sommes arrivés à 21h.15. Le restaurant quoique encore ouvert n'acceptait plus de nouveaux clients... On était au milieu de nulle part : pas d'autre moyen de se restaurer. Un hotel simplemente encantador, acorde con el entorno que lo rodea.

Dopo un alunga attraversata dalla Death valley allo Yosemite siamo finalmente arrivati al Wanona. Posto suggestivo immerso nel verde, classico posto da famiglia americana desiderosa di correre per i prati e fare un ottimo BBQ. Purtroppo la stanza che ci è capitata era senza bagno, pur avendo pagato il bagno privato, la stanza era stile Cotage inglese, […] ma non troppo pulito. Un comune a tutta la struttura sono state polvere e ragantele, il cibo nulla di che, ma il posto vale la candela, il prezzo molto meno! Si sono accorti del loro errore del bagno e ci hanno restituito tutta la somma della notte. Mehr

Muito bonito, mesmo sendo um hotel Bem Antigo. Deixou a desejar somente no quarto pois desligaram o aquecimento durante a madrugada e a luz do quarto estava queimada.

Der er ikke mange hoteller/overnatningssteder at vælge imellem nær Yosemite Valley, som man vil betale. Dette var rimeligt i pris taget i betragtning af udbud/efterspørgsel. Inkl. morgenmad, som var rigtig lækker og rimelige priser på aftensmad til trods for at der ikke er andet i nærheden. En go halv times kørestur til/fra Yosemite Valley.

Charmant hôtel de style Victorien situé dans un cadre magnifique !! Restaurant chic et bonne table. Seul inconvénient : le bruit !!! qui vient ternir l'appréciation générale. A notre arrivée, des bouchons pour oreilles étaient à notre disposition dans la chambre... On a compris pourquoi... On vit avec le voisin et le chauffage qui fait un bruit de marteau […] piqueur lorsqu'il se met en route dans la nuit... A recommander si le bruit ne vous incommode pas !! Hôtel de standing dans le style victorien; chambre agréable mais celles qui sont les moins chères ont des sanitaires communs. Seul point négatif car en septembre les températures sont fraîches le matin et le soir aussi c'est difficile de se motiver pour sortir prendre une douche. c'est le meilleur souvenir de notre voyage 2010, 15 jours et 9 hôtels ! un hôtel très authentique, un charme suranné, un personnel très présent sans être obséquieux, un emplacement privilégié dans un cadre exceptionnel! quand vous arrivez devant cet hôtel, les bras vous en tombent ! en plein parc, des arbres centenaires sur la pelouse entourent la piscine,le […] cadre rappelle "Autant en emporte le vent" et vous en prenez plein les yeux! certes l'hôtel date de l'ouverture,même s'il a été rafraichi régulièrement, mais on y prend le temps de vivre! il ne faut pas aller là bas pour trouver le dernier cri en matière de technologie ni de confort, mais pour un moment de volupté dans un endroit où le temps semble s'être arrêté. , les douches communes sont très kitch, bien chauffée et des peignoirs sont à disposition , la chambre que nous avions était certes un peu passée mais rappelait la chambre de chez la grand mère dans notre enfance avec les vieilles photos au mur, les appliques en porcelaine... le personnel du restaurant est très attentif, très attentionné, la cuisine sublime, et le petit déjeuner pantagruélique ! et gratuit ! le personnel très nombreux surveille bien sa salle mais vous laisse respirer pas comme dans certains restaurants qui se veulent classieux !! Pour vos soirées, pas de boite de nuit avec les DJ dernier cri, juste un perron pour prendre un verre en regardant le soleil se coucher,un piano bar avec la cheminée et des canapés bien confortables où l'on pique vite du nez après les balades de la journée en pleine nature ! vous n'êtes qu'à 10mn à peine du parc Mariposa pour voir les fabuleux séquoïas, un peu plus loin des autres randonnées... vous n'avez qu'une envie en partant, c'est d'y revenir !! et c'est ce que nous ferons ! pour compléter ce commentaire, j'ajoute que je suis directeur adjoint dans un hôtel restaurant et que j'ai travaillé dans des hôtels 3 et 4 étoiles !!! si vous devez séjourner à Yosemite, je vous le recommande ! Una gran opción para dormir dentro del parque; está muy cerca del bosque de secuoyas gigantes. El hotel es precioso, aunque la mayoría de las habitaciones son pequeñas y con baño compartido. Gran punto a favor: su restaurante.

Hôtel style Angleterre du 19 eme siècle (pas de TV ni de tél mais vieux meubles dans les chambres) bien situé en bordure du parc pour ceux qui veulent quitter Yosemite rapidement (à 45 minutes du centre du parc). Accueil prévenant et bon restaurant. Chambres spacieuses mais mal insonorisées dans les pavillons. Environs dans la nature.

Très bel endroit, situé tout près de la forêt de séquoias géants du parc Yosemite - Excellent petit-déj buffet compris dans le prix de la chambre - Chambre décor "à l'ancienne" mais confortable - Pour les chambres avec SdB commune : WC et SdB propres, par contre accès par l'extérieur, et pas de sèche-cheveux dispo.

au sud du parc donc assez eloigné de yosemite valley, mais tres sympa, meme si la douche est commune ...

It is located in the park, that is the big plus. Next to that it is a beautiful building. However, because it is a building from 1879 it is very noisy and all rooms are very very small. Rooms only have a bed and cupboard on the room, that's it. There are a few separate buildings (same age) and per building there is 1 bathroom (actually 2, 1 for men, […] 1 for women). In Wawona there is only this hotel, a gas station and a small store, that's all. Would I go here again? Only if there is no other place to stay in the neighbourhood.... Mehr

We stayed at the Wawona hotel for one night because nothing else was available inside the park. We had a room without private bathroom but it was OK to use the nearby restrooms when staying for such a short time. The room was clean but extremely small. At first, the hotel staff send us to the wrong room for which our keys did not work, but after some […] hassle we finally got our room. The drive to the vista spots and hiking trails deeper inside the valley takes about 45 minutes, but after having seen the other hotels / cabins inside the valley we were quite happy with Wawonas more secluded location. We also had dinner at the hotel's restaurant which was OK. The breakfast buffet is really good, though. The hotel has a nice atmosphere to it, but is really in need of some renovation.
