sehr gut und schön gelegen. nur 5 Minuten zu Fuss vom Dom und 3 Min. zu Fuss zum Hauptbahnhof Santa Maria Novella. Werden wieder dort buchen wenn wir das nächste Mal in Florenz sind. Sehr gute Restaurants gleich um die Ecke.

Its location would be hard to beat - a five-minute walk to/from the train station in a relatively quiet piazza, near-by to a number of very good restaurants and easy strolls to the Duomo, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio, leather market, etc. Better still, the accommodations, breakfast and the geniune helpfulness of the hotel staff more than met our expectations […] for its 4-star rating. Great location right on the piazza - although was initially hard to find. Overall really loved the hotel...great service, really liked the breakfast. Room was very nice...great size. Only mild issue was an uncomfortable bed...but this does not seem to be a high priority for most hotels in Italy. Would stay again.

Room most comfortable, very stylish, fourth floor piazza view fabulous, staff extremely helpful, position perfect. Strongly recommend.

I stayed here for three nights and it was perfect. The hotel service was always very helpful and attentive to what we needed. The room was clean and the hotel was beautiful. I am a frequent traveler in Europe and this was my first time to Florence. All I can say is trust every positive review about this hotel. You will not be let down. Great location, very nice rooms, great staff and cute decor at a very fair price.

Lovely Florence hotel on the beautiful Piazza Santa Maria Novella. You can walk from the main train station, and we did it in the dark in the early morning hours. Hotel is beautiful at every turn through its maze-like corridors. Suggest getting a room with a view of the piazza. The location is perfect for walking to major sites.

Everyone was wonderful. The staff all went out of their way to make our stay memorable. Would highly recommend.

Of the 3 high end hotels this one was the best. Service at the front desk was outstanding. I don't know how they do it but they are 5 star in helping all kinds of crazy customers. Location was excellent and the rooftop was great after a long day of Roma tours. Totally will go back if I can afford the Euros again! The tour guides for Rome ruins (Lugi) […] and Vatacan (Paula) were caring and top notch. Mehr

This is an excellent hotel to stay in when you are in Florence. I would highly recommend it. Good value for your money. Close to everything (as is every hotel in Florence), but the room is huge as is the bathroom. I was there with my 2 teenage children and the 3 of us never felt cramped. The staff was so helpful. I would stay there again.

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. The room, although small for a superior room, was nice and well finished. Our overhead shower didn't work, but we used the handheld and it was just fine. The staff were very helpful in organizing tours and overall very courteous and friendly. The hotel is about a 10-15 min walk from the academia and the uffizi, and […] the main shopping areas of Florence. It's also about 15 min walk to the ponte vecchio. So, no worries on location! Very close to train station. FYI, there is a bar fridge, but if you go across the square to the nearest gelatarria, beer, water and other alcohols are half the price! Breakfast was quite good and complimentary, and there is free wifi which is actually quite fast for a hotel! Mehr

Being english it is hard to give a perfect score to anything but this place was just that. Staff were friendly, welcoming, helpful. Service here was impecable.

I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone! It was in the best location, but still hidden ( I would call it the best kept secret in Florence), it was clean and had the best complimentary buffet. You will not be unhappy if you stay here..guaranteed! Enjoy

This is a great hotel to stay at in Florence. It is located in the square in front of the Santa Maria Novella. It is 2 blocks from the train station. It is about 3-4 blocks from the Duomo. The room was huge, beautiful and clean. The service staff was friendly and the breakfast, while simple, was very nice and served in a lovely room. My only concern […] is that unless you know exactly where the hotel is, you can walk right past it (as we first did) because it has no large sign on the outside, only a small sign next to the entrance door. Also, the wifi internet was a bit spotty and we only got good reception in one part of our room. These are relatively trivial concerns relative to an excellent facility. We found the Junior Suite to be spacious and very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The living room was a tranquil place to relax and the roof had a wonderful view of the dome on the Duomo. Our only real complaint was that the desk staff were not really friendly nor did they try to offer any help or suggestions about sites or restaurants. This […] four star hotel would benefit from having a concierge desk. Also please place a large sign with the name of the hotel so that it can be identified from the street. Mehr

It's hard to know where to start to describe this wonderful hotel! It far exceeded our expectations. It was absolutely the most perfect place to stay in the gorgeous city of Firenze and was our favorite hotel in all of Italy. It is completely charming and elegant! Our lovely rooms overlooked the Piazza and the exquisite Church of Santa Maria Novella. The decor of the hotel is so elegant and beautiful. Our rooms (we had 2 for a family of five) were large and comfortable and the bathrooms were amazing! Everything was so clean and the hotel has its own beautiful signature fragrance which is found in its soaps, shampoos, lotions and even the potpourri in the living room! Although our rooms overlooked the Piazza and there is a lot of activity in the Piazza at night, our rooms were completely quiet when the windows were shut. We really appreciated the AC and the Wii-Fii! All the various rooms available to guests--the living room, reading room, dining room, etc., were so elegantly decorated and impeccably maintained. Breakfast was such a treat with so much to choose from, and everything was so delicious. The staff should win awards for their wonderful hospitality, graciousness and helpfulness-especially Simone. We especially loved the incredible views from the hotel's outdoor rooftop Terrace--a fabulous place for a drink or to have a picnic dinner as we did one night. We would definitely stay there again--we miss it!--and give it our very highest recommendation! Mehr

We stayed 4 nights here at the start of a 2-week vacation in Italy. We had a wonderful, spacious room overlooking the Piazza SMN. The staff were super-friendly and helpful. Everything you want to see in Florence is an easy walk from the hotel. The only downside was our room required the negotiation of two separate elevators to get to/from reception, […] but that was no great inconvenience given all the other pluses. Mehr

Location, location, location. This lovely and elegant hotel is close to everything & service is excellent. Highly recommended. Only wish the internet was more accessible in the rooms. Also, hotel computer does not have a printer. Prints must be picked up with hotel front desk.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed staying in the Hotel Santa Maria Novella. The junior suite was beautifully decorated with high quality antiques, marble bathroom, and a pretty embroidered bedspread. The views of the piazza and cathedral were unobstructed. We stayed at the HSMN for three nights when we first got to Italy. The hotel was centrally located - no need to have a car, we walked everywhere!! The breakfast was great, the room was much bigger than expected, the bathroom was HUGE (especially the shower), which is very unique for a hotel in Europe!! We didn't have a view, but the hotel was fully […] booked. And we were too busy sightseeing to spend a lot of time in the room!! When we come back to Florence, we will definitely stay here. Mehr

Having stayed at the over rated Grand Hotel Minerva across the square for the previous 3 nights we were plesantly surprised by the condition and beauty of this Hotel. Beautifully decorated rooms, even the standard superior rooms are lovely, small but compact. The hotels decor is very ornate with some nice modern touches. Only criticism is the breakfast […] service was very slow, the Square can sometimes be noisy if yoyu have a room on the lower floors overlooking this and the air conditioning in our room stopped working, but once the hotel manager was made aware of this we were finally moved and upgraded for out last evening. My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Santa Maria Novella twice over the course of a week-long Italian vacation that began and ended in Florence. Both times we were treated to surprisingly spacious, comfortable rooms, friendly service and perhaps the best location in the city. The Hotel is situated directly on on the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, a historic […] square that defines the Eastern edge of the primary tourist area of Florence. The hotel is 5 minute walk to both the train station (also called Santa Maria Novella) and the Duomo, which is effectively the center of the historic city of Florence. I frankly cannot imagine a better location in the city. It's an easy walk to the Academia and the Uffizi, and the proximity to the train station means every major city in Italy is at your fingertips. The hotel itself is excellent. While the aesthetic is distinctly Old World, the hotel has been thoroughly updated and includes all the features you'd expect in a modern hotel (the televisions are ludicrously small, but who watches TV in Florence?). The beds and showers are particularly generous, especially by the standards of a typical European city hotel. My wife and I were also very pleased with the small, but well-appointed gym, which let us mitigate the two-gelato-per-day habit we developed while in Italy. The breakfast was pretty standard (upscale) hotel breakfast fare, but the breakfast room is beautifully redone and is a great place to start a day of exploring. I don't really have anything bad at all to say about the hotel, other than the fact that its layout is a bit bizarre, and I think it could be a nightmare for people suffering from disabilities. To get to our first room on the second floor of the hotel, we took the elevator to the 2nd floor and proceeded to go down a flight of stairs, up another flight of stairs, and finally down another flight of stairs to get to our "2nd floor" room. Staying at Hotel Santa Maria Novella is like being a guest in a palace. The hotel is gorgeous, full of antiques, pots of hydrangea and original paintings. Our room had Florentine furnishings and overlooked the square. The breakfast was generous and served in a dining room lavishly decorated with paintings and frescoes. The staff was very helpful with […] parking our car as the hotel is in the historic centre in the restricted area for cars. The only negative to our stay was the deafening dance music played in the square until late on Saturday night but with the bathroom door closed we were able to sleep. From Florence airport via a 10 minute bus journey to the train station in Florence, the hotel is an easy 200+ metre walk in a straight line across the Piazza Santa Maria Novella. Plush, clean and welcoming as soon as you enter, the staff greet you in a friendly and helpful manner, and the bellboy escorts you and your baggage to your allotted room. My […] room overlooked the Piazza and the church and was as sumptuous as the photos from their website promised. Beds were turned down of an evening, curtains drawn and slippers placed beside the bed. But if you didn't want to be disturbed, simply light the "do not disturb" button beside the door and you were left in peace for the evening. Breakfast offered a choice of cereals, scrambled egg and bacon, a selection of bread rolls, cold meats and cheeses, fresh fruit, yogurts and pastries together with an assortment of fresh fruit juices, tea and coffee. All in delightful surroundings with works of art adorning the walls. The staff were attentive and eager to please. There was a lovely little reading room bedecked with all things "Napoleon" to the rear of the property that offered a quiet little sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the crowds outside. As for general location, it was ideally placed for all the major attractions Florence has to offer. I had an early flight to catch on my last day and the hotel gladly offered to prepare a "breakfast bag" for me to take to the airport and pre-booked a taxi for me. In the centre of Florence, 5 minutes from the station and less than 10 minutes from the Duomo, adjacent to the attractive Santa Maria Novella church the hotel couldn't be better located. The hotel was nicely decorated and whilst our room didn't have the best outlook, that is a minor complaint and we weren't visiting Florence to sit looking out of the […] window. On the positive side, if there was any noise in the plaza at the front of the hotel we didn't hear it. Fixtures and fittings were all of high quality with everything you'd expect of a hotel in this price range. Breakfast was very good, with a selection of cold meats and cheese, fresh fruit, cereal and also scrambled egg and bacon. Coffee was served by the attentive staff. The bar area wasn't the most exciting but again, there was little reason to be sitting in there. We would choose to visit this hotel again. Mehr

Loved, loved, loved this place. Rooms were great (clean and large) and the bathroom was bigger than the one we have at home. The location was not far from major sites...easily within walking distance to everything we wanted to see...an we saw a lot. The location was convenient to the train station and not too far from the main sights. It seems like they have renovated the rooms in the front of the hotel, but not necessarily the ones in the back, where we stayed. Try getting a room in the front.

This Hotel is the definition of how a hotel should be. I read the previous enthusiastic reviews with some disbelief before booking but my expectations were exceeded. Any problem is quickly resolved and the staff are exemplary. The attention to detail has to be experienced.

This hotel is a great. The room was much, much bigger than I expected from a European hotel. I traveled with a friend and we have plenty to space to move around. The bathroom was new and modern. The staff was friendly. It's a great location: a couple minutes walk from the train station and ten minute walk from the Duomo. I would highly recommend staying […] here. Oh also there's breakfast every morning. Absolutely no complaints about this place. I would suggest everyone going to Florence stay here! Mehr

We had a great experience in Florence. Santa Maria is one of the best hotels we have stayed in Europe. The rooms were huge and the bathroom was amazing. The hotel staff was very considerate of all our needs. We loved the breakfast spread. The Italian restaurant in front of the hotel is a delight.

At check in..MORE than we expected. HSMN was a five star for us. Beautiful hotel, great staff, gorgeous rooms. Walking out of the SMN Train staition, looking right,you can see the hotel behind the SMN Church. Just cross the streets and you are walking on the left side of the church directly online to run into the front door of HSMNThere is a courtyard, […] large, back in there too, where people gather to view the church, lay on the grass, play music. Walk out the hotel doors and in 20 steps you are a part of it. The bed was very comfortable and large, bath was large too. Breakfast was great, huge variety and coffee is brought to you in silver pitchers for your table. Very upscale. You are two blocks from rhe river, three from Harry's Bar on the river, or a 8-10 minute walk through and to the shopping areas. We also did our laundry at a launderette about one street behind and one street up from the hotel. Very easy. 10 - 15 minute walk, (due to busyness of foot traffic) to the Uffizi and Accademia. Perfect location, lovely hotel. We were on the 2nd floor, some construction in finishing the courtyard directly below our window, we never heard them. Windows must be very insualated. I would strongly recommend HSMN to anyone. Also, two outdoor restaurants facing the piazza so you can hear the music. Mehr

This hotel is a real find. The service is wonderful and the hotel is very convenient to all modes of transportation. Would come back in a moment.

We just recently returned from a trip to Italy where we stayed at this hotel in Florence. It has a great location near the train station and our room over- looked the piazza and Santa Maria Novella church. It was a 5 minute walk to the Duomo or to San Lorenzo market. The hotel, including our room, was so charming and decorated beautifully! A nice breakfast […] was included with a good variety to choose from. We enjoyed eating dinner down the street at Trattoria Trebbio and having a gelato afterward in the SMN piazza and listening to the musicians. We loved this hotel and would definitely stay here again! We loved almost everything about this hotel. It's only about 2-3 blocks from the train station, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was lovely. We have only two small quibbles. First, we had to take lots of stairs on our hotel floor, until we got to our room. This wasn't easy for someone like me, with bad knees. Second, I wish there were […] a bar near the reception area. While there is a divine sitting room, decorating with a Napoleon theme, a place for drinks would have been a real plus. Other than these two small inconveniences, we loved our stay and would go back. By the way, I especially liked the unobtrusive entrance. You have to know the hotel is there in order to enter. Mehr
