We have returned to this hotel for our 6th time. Each time there seems to be less and less to draw us back. We return mainly due to the proximity of the room to the beach, the beautiful views and the good value. The food is mediocre at best...there is no doubt about that. They used to hang signs on repeat customers rooms...they did not do that nor did […] they invite us to the repeat customer dinner. The new beach chair cabanas have thin netting to cover them blocking zero sun leaving you exposed all day. Big mistake on their part. We have always felt like this was this was home away from home. The Golden Crown Paradise Resort is not the fanciest of resorts but it is an excellent value. The staff is very friendly and they keep the place pretty clean considering all the sand that can be tracked in. The food is nothing special but we went for the sun and water and not just to eat. Room service had better food than the buffet. We went with a […] group of friends and it all worked out beautifully for that kind of gathering. The beds were not as hard as I had feared nor were the pillows. I would have liked more shade on the beach to protect my fair skin but there was always plenty of room under the tiki bar to hang out. The outside areas and beach are superb. The food and beverages are very good. The rooms are a bit shabby and the staff is very inconstent. You either get a wonderful, friendly, helpful person or a surly unhappy staff member. This was our second stay here and we will have to think long and hard before we return.

Staff were friendly and nice always ready to help. Pool is ok, there are really only 2 bars both outside by the pool one has about 6 stools the other maybe 20. You can sometimes sit in the out door restaurant and have a drink if its not too busy, a nice sit-down bar would be nice. Food in the 2 restaurants that required reservations was good. Buffet […] breakfast was poor, not a good selection of food and no meat (bacon, sausage, etc.) Resort needs major renovation, painting--very old, needs a lot of work. I stayed in the adult only resort. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nice with an awesome view of the ocean and grounds. The location of the resort was great. Near the dock, the mall, walmart etc.. The food was plentiful but average. All and all I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

This resort hotel was quite pleasing. The staff was always more than friendly, and were not only pleasant, but also full of information of the local town and life, and some of the common pitfalls for travelers to avoid. The rooms were always clean and comfortable, and the hotel is maintained very well. This hotel is adults only, so more inclined for […] a couple's romantic get away. The sister hotel that is located next door, and attached so that you have access to the restaurants there also, is more inclined to a family vacation with a children's waterpark in the middle courtyard. The restaurants ranging from casual buffet to 4 star Italian and Japanese fusion, never seemed to disappoint. The dining is so fantastic here that even the Tiki bar on the beach has a fresh sushi bar stocked with fish caught daily. One major caveat to the dining on an all inclusive trip is that you get only one voucher (good for each party) for a meal at one of the fine dining restaurants in the sister hotel, so you must make a choice of Italian, Japanese or French. All other restaurants are not restricted, and you can dine as you please. Also of note is that if you book this hotel as a package that is all inclusive, gratuity is included. I was initially leery of this, fully expecting to still tip the staff. But my fears were unfounded, as the excellent service of the staff was never dependent on a tip, nor was one ever expected. We stayed here for 4 nights following 2 weeks of touring round Mexico. We had an Ocean view room which was really good, except very noisy air conditioning. On our first night we had to report we had a leak in in the ceiling from the floor above, as it was 11pm we were given towels to but on the wet floor and told it would be rectified the following […] morning. The leak was repaired, it then took a day for it to stop dripping, fortunately, it wasn't on to anything important, or we would have demanded a room change. On booking I had specifically requested a no smoking room, which we were not intially given, we asked on check in and the room was then changed. The resort was quiet, with no children just what we needed after touring. The food in the restaurants was good quality and appeared to be freshly prepared. The staff were helpful. Some of the beach vendors could be a bit annoying. We saw baby turtles just hatched that morning being released into the sea. I would go back to this resort. Mehr

Great value for an all inclusive. Be sure to make a dinner reservation at either Salvador's or the Paradise before 2:30 each day, otherwise the buffet option seems to be the same food each night. Barwise, the tequila was top shelf and beer was Mexico's domestic Tecate. Additionally, the nightclub owned by the hotel across the street was also included […] w/free drinks. Too many people try to sell you things on the beach, timeshare guy right next to the hotel check in desk, who tried talk to us about timeshare right after we checked in, we were very tired after long flight when we arrived, and this guy was trying to hard sell us stuff, this almost ruined our vacation before it even started. this hotel is a joke, there […] are better ones. food choice were very limited, the restaurants require reservation all taste the same, with only 4-6 main course food options. so if you stay there for more than a few days, you will get sick of the same freaking food. will go with a different hotel next time. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Golden Crown. It was my first "all inclusive" experience, and I assumed that having paid ahead of time would create little incentive for the staff to give my wife and I a great experience, but I was wrong. Beautiful and convenient location, very friendly and helpful staff, and friendly fellow travelers […] as well. Opportunities to do plenty of activities or just to chill. Separation of adults-only and family resort a big plus for those of us who prefer vacations away from the chaos of children. Biggest drawback for us was the food, which was very average. On the other hand, 24-hour room service was a plus, so long as you don't quibble about what you're eating at 2am. Some people were annoyed by the locals scoping the beach to sell stuff, but I found them for the most part very respectful and friendly. This resort is moderately priced and delivers the goods for the price. I recommend it. Mehr

This was my forth trip to PV, always staying at the same hotel...Golden Crown. I must say each time, the service continued deteriorate to the where after this trip I said , "NO MORE". Its not like its the cheapest hotel.....for approx the same cost, you can choose from one of numerous other resorts where the service will be of a significantly higher […] caliber. Have stayed at the Golden Crown and the Crown Paradise numerous times. Actually back in the early 80's when it was the "Playa de Oro". The location is great and the staff is fantastic. The "Golden" is adults only and the staff knows this, Salvador's is lovely for an intimate dinner. The beach side bar is so relaxing in the morning, have some fresh waffles/fruit/coffee […] with your toes in the sand. In the evening go for sunsets and sushi with a happy hour cocktail. This is not like your typical 500-800 room resort in Nuevo Vallarta. It's a super place for a couple or couples to go and have fun on the beach and get into town in a few minutes. Enjoy! Mehr

Our stay at the Golden Crown Paradise Club was absoutely wonderful. The staff was excellent, friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and the view is perfect from every single balcony in the complex. I personally watched the night staff cleaning the pool area for hours ... sweeping the tile, wiping the tables and chairs, cleaning the […] pool, trimming the hedges and keeping everything in overall great shape. It was nice that the resort was adults only. There weren't any kids to deal with in the pool or the hot tub or the restaurants. If there is only one thing I wasn't overall impressed with, it was the food. The food at the restaurants was, in my opinion, just okay. It wasn't horrible, but nothing to rave about, either. The hotel and staff was great! The location was safe and within walking distance of shopping at the cruise ship port. The food was good and the menus changed offering a different cuisine for those staying. The food was not as good as I have had on cruise ships, so I was a little disappointed there but I still managed to gain 5 pounds! This is an older property, formerly Plaza del Oro, right next to the marina. The staff are great and there is low turnover, so you see the same people year after year. It's an unpretentious hotel property with all the amenities needed. Several really good restaurants located on site along with the buffet and snack bars, so there something for everyone. […] Many, many guests have gone back year after year and I'm ready to join "the club." Great value, nice beach, close to a supermarket and internet cafe. Catch a booze cruise to Yelapa or Las Coletas from the marina which is a block away, or go fishing. The biggest problems were the vendors on the beach along with the hawking at the air port. We were in Puerto Villarta 10 years ago and did not experience any of the persistant hawking both at the air port and the down town area. very dissapointed about both places. Great views from your room, directly on the beach, limitless food and drink, very clean (but short, hard beds and lumpy pillows) and only a 14 peso bus ride to old town puerto vallarta. My hubby and I are in our mid-twenties and stayed for a week and had a wonderful time. If you're looking for a party scene, don't come here since most of the clientele […] are in their 50's-70's. However, my hubby and I are old school and loved the atmosphere of people just chilling and enjoying the sun. Waitstaff is a little slow but keep the dollar bill tips coming and it picks up usually. Stick to Mexican food and tequila drinks on the menu and you won't be disappointed. Tip: Before you go book the 'Outdoor Adventure' with Puerto Vallarta Adventures. It's 6 hours long, including zip-lining over canyons, through waterfalls and being dunked in cool pool water. Most fun we've had in a LONG time. We also did the Las Caletas and found that somewhat boring, and we did rhythm of nights and thought it was Okay but we've seen a lot of Vegas shows and Cirque Solel so we really weren't impressed. Also, DONT take a taxi to the maritime from this hotel! It's only a block away and a less than 5 minute walk but they wont tell you that at the front desk unless you ask. Our view was nice from our room and the pool, that is all the nice things I have to say. Our ocean front room was two double beds because the panamerican games were going to be starting, even though the head board was a king. Good value for the price. Great location, nice beach. Food was good and bar service was very good. Nice pool at the adult only location. They did not make up our room one day, and they limit you to two "included" bottles of water per day - should be unlimited. Overall the property was clean and comfortable.

Overall, I had an excellent time at the Golden Crown Paradise in Puerto Vallarta. The staff were great, and with the exception of the Buffet (on the family side) the food was really good! The Buffet was not good at all, although I did like the expresso machine. Just wish they had hashbrowns more often, real sausage (instead of cut up hotdogs) for breakfast, […] and a bit more variety overall. The adult pool and pool bar service was excellent. I enjoyed playing volleyball in the pool, and meeting so many wonderful vacationers at the resort. All of the specialty restaurants were great, and the adult pool side restaurant had some tasty treats as well. The mattress on my bed was harder then I prefer (but I survived). Experienced a minor leak from the pipes that left a slight smell in the room. However, the manager offered to change my room with an upgrade ... so I can't really complain. It is an older resort, in an older part of Puerto Vallarta. It is near a Walmart and there is a supermarket within a blocks walk. The beach vendors are plentiful and somewhat invasive. They will try to get you into a time share presentation. If you have been here before, they have a wonderful dinner for returning guests. I give the Golden Crown paradise 3 stars overall. The adult pool, specialty restaurants and pool bar service staff get a full 5 stars! Mehr

The specialty restaurants are excellent. Go to the Paradise restaurant as many times as you can. Fujiyama is great as well. Hotel is in a great location and walking distance to the shops and marina.

Okay, so this is Puerto Vallarta, not Cancun & def. not Punta Cana, but for the price you pay, it's a great deal! The room was well air-conditioned (a must during the 90 + degree weather) cleaned everyday, comfy bed & pillows. The pool is nice and clean, plenty of lawn chairs to lounge on. Now the food: I would give it a C minus. I am not a picky eater, […] but I do like variety. Same tacos, beans, rice & beef for lunch and dinner. Same eggs and sweet bread for breakfast. TIP1: go out to downtown (el Malecon) and have yourself a nice dinner every night. We went to "La Langosta Feliz" and had the most amazing sea food platter...omg I'm still dreaming about it. Snack bars are only okay, offering nachos and taquitos. Bars actually have premium drinks (Johnny Walker, Corona) but u have to ask for them. TIP2: change some dollars to pesos. You will get a better deal on everything if you use pesos instead of US dollars, the hotel will not change, you need to go to a nearby bank. TIP3: Being the affordable place it is, you will mingle with a lot more guests that are Mexican locals than I was used to at other resorts, but they were so nice and friendly! Don't be scared to strike up a chat with them, they are hard-working, educated people. We met some great couples. The only thing that dampened our trip was that a group of vet. students came for a night, and being teenagers, kinda got out of control with all the alcohol, but okay. After traveling all the way from Chicago and having a 1 stop flight all I wanted to do was get in the room and take a shower that of course did not happen. They made us wait an hour and half before given our room. When we finally were given our keys to the room I was disappointed because the room had not been cleaned.There was food on the table, bed […] unmade, bobby pins and empty lotion bottle in the washroom. They quickly sent a maid to the room who apologized and stated there must of been miscommunication from the front desk because she thought the room was still occupied. I did not mind the mix up because they were very apologetic about the situation. Regardless of the bad first impression I had a great experience. The food was very good, room service fast, and all the staff was very friendly. Bartenders greeted my boyfriend and I every morning and had our drinks favorite drinks prepared by the time we made it to the bar. I read almost all of the reviews on this hotel before we left so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect. The hotel was not brand new, but it was well maintained and clean. There is not a swim up bar at this hotel (that was one thing I couldn't figure out from the reviews), but there is one in the adjacent hotel that you have access to. The food is decent; nothing that is going to knock your socks off, but still good. The location was great. This was our second stay at the Golden Crown Paradise; our first was three years ago. We enjoyed both visits quite a bit. It's not a top-end, luxury hotel, but it's certainly worth the price you pay. It's a nice-looking property with a cozy feel and fabulous views from almost every room except the ground floor. Last time we had a pool-side room (could […] still see ocean), and this time we had an ocean-side room. ... We were underwhelmed by much of the food, but this is a minor quibble. It wasn't bad; it just wasn't anything special. The breakfast buffet at the upstairs restaurant was particularly good, as were the pork tacos at the snack bar by the pool. The first time we stayed here, we were fairly new to the all-inclusive concept, and we didn't tip for anything. This time we tipped pretty freely, but not every time. I don't know that it made any difference, and I mean that in a good way. We never felt like we were slighted in any way when we didn't tip. Even so, I say do it. The bartenders and servers and maids work hard and are friendly. ... The first time we stayed here, it was a daily scramble every day to find a chair by the pool or on the beach. This time it was pretty easy. Also, last time the age range was evenly spread out from about 21 to 71. Plenty of young people. This time it seemed like most people were 50 or older. (I'm 50.) This was our 5th time at this hotel and every time we think of going someplace else we remember all the things this place has that we love. The staff was friendly & helpful, and they went out of their way to solve any problems that came up. The only annoying thing about the hotel was that while you're on the beach, peddlers are constantly trying to sell you things. Also, there's a family hotel right next door so the "adults only" mantra doesn't really stick as kids come running & screaming […] right in front of you while you're on the beach. Rude desk staff from check in to check out. At the time of our scheduled check in we were rudely told that there were no king rooms available only a double...go figure. Not at all the oceanview king upgrade that we paid for. We refused to take the room and eventually a very smelly subpar king became available. The" Oceanview" was mostly obstructed by […] the tiki hut. Minimal oceanview should have been the description with a discounted room rate. The daily early morning smell of cigarette smoke and clanging dishes setting up for breakfast was awful. The bathroom smelled like sewage gas most of the time. The beach vendors were extremely annoying. The beach is very beautiful and they were definitely a negative distraction. The bracelets were a nuisance. Prior all inclusives did not require this....it further cheapened our experience. The airport experience was beyond belief as locals converged to try and convince us to go on tours for timeshares....luckily we did not cave, but it was a huge immediate turn off as we just arrived. We had prearranged transportation with Grayline which we also would not recommend. Plenty of taxis are available. We also never received our return trip "voucher" from the on site rep although we had prepaid. She seemed upset we booked an excursion without her getting commission for doing so, we never saw her again. We would not recommend that anyone spend a dime at this "resort"-not!
