Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Pittsburgh-South Side - Pittsburgh

Enjoyed my stay, nice rooms, but the coffee maker filter holder had old grounds still in it from a previous person's stay and the mirrors were very smeared. Not a good location for a country mouse with all the traffic and train noise at night. For an overnight business stay I might go back, but for a longer stay I would look around...

The hotel is under a renovation. They just put in new carpets in rooms you can't open up a window to air the fumes out. Could be nice when it's finished, as it's location is convenient (although the entrance is tricky).

Overall the room was very clean and close to where we wanted to go.

Our stay was short. I had time to visit my old haunts. By the way the motel rooms are being refurnished completed by early June 2012.

Enjoyed our stay, location was excellent! We were able to walk to many of the restaurants and attractions from the hotel and avoid parking fees. The sofa bed left much to be desired, but that a side we will definitely stay here again.

Room was great, breakfast was good, customer service excellent. Only complaint was that the free shuttle was not operating on schedule and overheard front desk receptionist twice on phone stating that guests had been waiting over 30 minutes for the shuttle. decided to drive to restaurant as not many places around hotel. Did not.get the room we reserved. It had a king bed and a pull out sofa. We ordered a standard two full bed room. The pull out mattress was ripped the lenght of the right side. We had to call and have a portable cot brought up to the room which took up walking space in the room. Thankfully we only spent one night

Very clean, comfortable, and conveient location. Staff was very engaging and helpful with everything. You had newspapers in the lobby evry morning which was important to me and the best thing was you are two blocks away from two bus lines and a block away from the 10th Street Bridge which lead you into downtown. you also have a magnificent view of downtown […] and Mount Washington. I most definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Pittsburgh. Mehr

The staff was friendly but the room sucked. It smelled musty and I found a used wash rag In thE shower.

Overall not a bad place to stay, room was a little expensive but shuttle service was nice and convenient.

first off you would think a smoking room would be somewhat cleaned??? no not at all!!! my girl friend and i gagged forever until my friend brought us fabreeze. the whole floor smelled like cigs and weed. it was so gross. the lamp in the room was broken and crooked. it rested on the wall so it wouldnt fall over. the mini-fridge wasnt cold. my beer was […] spoiled. no comforter for the king bed. just a sheet and a thin blanket. windows didnt open and there was no fan meanwhile the room was smoking. the front door didnt close all the way, i had to put my weight to it n push it pretty hard to close it. it was def a waste of a few hundred dollars plus i had to pay for over night parking. i would have rather have paid the same and paid extra for a cab ride to southside from the Fairmont Hotel. i would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone. only positive things were the people were polite and it was close to all the bars in southside, other than that dont waste your money Mehr

I was not content with the quality of this hotel for the price I paid. It was seemingly a great hotel but upon my arrival I was extremely disappointed. I was greeted by a very unfriendly clerk, the entire floor of my room wreaked of cigarette smoke, amongst other things, and my room was just a general disappointment.

I had never been to Pittsburgh and stayed at this hotel for the shuttle service. It was so convenient and took me anywhere I needed to go in a timely fashion. People were friendly and helpful. Love this place - will stay again!

Overall the hotel was very good and the free breakfast was more than enough to start your day, all food was very fresh. The operator of the shuttle bus noticed my daughter and I walking by after the Pens game and pointing at the bus. He immediately pulled over and picked us up. It was very much appreciated as we were tired and it was a bit of a walk […] to the hotel late at night. The pool was under repair which was dissapointing but upon checkout the manager remember we were wanting to use the pool and waived our overnight parking charge. Which was very nice. The room itself was clean and nice. The bed was NOT good. The springs are right at the top of the mattress and you could feel and hear them with each move-HARD. The hallways and elevators carpet was faded and dirty. Even on other floors we went to for the pool were all dirty as if they had not been vacuumed. Room was clean but they really need to clean the grout on the floor, it is BLACK. As for the bed I think its time for a new one, our backs hurt. But besides that I liked the hotel and the people at the desk are friendly and nice.

Shuttle to pens game really close by to night life, also let us check in early which was great, everyone there was excellent, will stay again,

The rooms were very nice, clean and comfy. alittle pricey. Continental breakfast was excellent. Was like a breakfast buffet. Shuttled to restaraunts, the strip and the Incline, which is much easier than trying to drive in Pittsburgh. Had to wait about 1/2 hr each time for pickup thou.

We had to wait more than two hours past check-in time to access a clean room. The staff was incredibly rude about the whole situation and did not apologize. They said that the check-in time is a guarantee, so we shouldn't have expected the room to be available.

We went to visit our son at Univ of Pitt, so this was a little out of the way for that purpose. Although nothing is really far in this small city. If you want to go downtown, or sightsee on the south side of Pitt, this is a good place to be. Although, for the price, I wasn't impressed. would have been extremely satisfied with hotel except upon arrival at 130 pm we were told we would have to wait for rooms,wasnt happy with desk personel and had to wait til 7pm to get rooms.have stayed at hotel numerous times and did not have a problem til this time

I stayed there for my best friend's bachelorette party. We had a mix-up with our room at first, but the staff was very helpful and got things straightened out right away. The breakfast the next morning was absolutely wonderful! All in all, had a great stay.

There were many problems during my stay I had to constantly call for someone to come and service my room. I guess since i was staying for a week housekeeping decided it was not necessary to clean my room on a daily basis. When i would call the front desk to complain they offer to bring me clean towels yet my beds weren't made trash wasnt removed, ect. […] In additon my key would only work for a day or two then i would have to inconvience myself and go to the lobby with all of my things and get my key reset. My hotel room itself seemed moist the floors were always wet and slippery like being in a basement. I did not find this hotel to be one i would reccomend to anyone. Mehr

We were only in Pittsburgh for about 24 hours and the location of this stay was perfect! The front desk staff was super nice and helpful. It had direct access to downtown in just minutes! The free breakfast was decent, although we went down about 20 minutes before it was to close and there was not a lot left to choose from. I would definitly stay a […] gain. Mehr

This was the worst hotel experience we've ever had. We were told we would have bus service to local field, no so, we had to leave concert early, we were to have non smoking room, not so, we even had cigarette burns in our linens. Tried to contact managers without success, not available and they did not return voice mail I left for them. So disappointed […] in our stay, this was a trip for my granddaughter to see her favorite singer and we had to leave. Mehr

This was a last minute find that will change the way I book my next years visit. It was clean, staff was easily accessable and ready to serve. They had a working pool and hot tub and a restaurant with great food right next door. Parking was also a great bargain in a protected site. Would highly recommend!

The staff was courteous. It was nice to have the use of shuttle services. My only surprise was having to pay a fee for parking. I can't remember ever having to pay for parking before in all my travel adventures. I just put in 8300 miles this fall and never once was that fee assessed to our bill.

Overall, I recommend this hotel. The location is great if your destinations in Pittsburgh include Station Square and Carson Street. The shuttle service is great. The room was clean and comfortable. The $14 parking fee was a bit annoying. The complimentary breakfast wasn't the greatest but it was good enough for free!

No taxis will pick you up (we waiting for an hour and none of them that we called showed), and the hotel has only 1 shuttle (only 1!!) If you need to get somewhere on time - give yourself 2 hours - you'll need it. Seriously.

I have stayed at several Holiday Inns over the years, and this one is a very typical Holiday Inn. Everything was as expected and we had no problems or issues during our two night stay.

hotel was close to Duquense...I woke up at 3:30 and smelled cigerette smoke...I realize the hotel had smoking in some of the rooms, however I chose a non smoking room...There was no way to open a window...the smell was so strong....I realize that you cannot control what people do in the rooms but I will not stay there in the future..We paid alot of […] money to stay there and park there and I was so upset as I did not sleep all night....
