Garretts Desert Inn - Santa Fé

Sehr gute Lage zur Innenstadt, deshalb trotz einiger Kritikpunkte bezüglich der Sauberkeit und Zimmerausstattung zu empfehlen

This hotel is in a great location in the heart of the historic district but it could use some minor maintenance. Pool was being redone when we were there (no big deal but could have known in advance). Beds need to be replaced and work on internet service a bit.

Perfect location

Bathroom not up to par . bed very uncomfortable

After waiting 45 minutes for the "Inn" to find my confirmation on the computer, I listened to the receptionists talk about how they always call the police due to jailbirds breaking free and hiding out in the rooms, people being stabbed on the nearby street and bleeding on the floor, and dirty drug users walking around the complex; Oh, this made me feel […] so safe. I knew I made the wrong choice as soon as I arrived, but I had already booked. Upon entering the room, which was very reminiscent of 90's horror films, I found the bed to be made of springs. The bathroom looked like it belonged in a horror film, and that someone had recently been murdered there, there was a needle on the floor, most likely for drugs after hearing the conversation of the receptionists. I have just realized that I also forgot to mention that after a shower in a tub that looked like Jimmy Buffett's sphincter I laid down on sheets of cardboard to watch a broken television. Did I mention that the towels felt like aluminum foil feels on your teeth? You know what I'm talking about. Oh, and the soap was open, and just enough to wipe my butt with. At this point (roughly 3 hours in to my stay) I couldn't wait to write a review for this hotel. the only comfort I had in sleeping there was 3 inches of swiss damage by my bedside. A good place in a good location, but the extra charge for parking reduced its competitive price.

We spent just one night here during a road trip and I would stay there again. The room was large and very clean. It was a little older, but very comfortable. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating. You can feel good about booking a night here.

Nothing much has changed here in the last 25 years and it shows. Really shabby carpet, dirty tile, dirty sink - just plain poor housekeeping and in dire need of an update. Won't stay again.

We loved the location of this hotel most of all, and only used our vehicle coming into and leaving Santa Fe (at which point we hit the RailYard and markets on the other side of town). The hotel was clean and tidy but aging, and could use and update for bathroom and vanity areas (esp with lighting the vanity area). Staff that we encountered upon check-in […] was friendly. The place is nicely & conveniently located to downtown Santa fe... restaurants, shoping centers, bus stops are all close, walking distance.... the concierges were very helpful and nice... for direction or help

Garretts Desert Inn needs updating. Location is convenient.

Hotel is dated. Needs major upgrades. Our room did not have a table, television was small and sat very far away from the beds....no elevator + limited # of stairs, made it difficult to haul our luggage up the stairs and half-way across the courtyard to get to our room. $8/day for parking, not bad at all.

This hotel is past its prime and we saw little effort to upgrade this tired motel with an outstanding location

Nice place..big rooms. Very short walk from the town center. Close to good food and shopping.

A great place to stay in the heart of old Sante Fe. I was traveling with a dog, which was no problem. My room was simple, but very clean and comfortable. WiFi very slow however.

Our internet conection was hijacked while using the Garrett's internet connection; downloaded a bug and stole our IP address. First room we were assigned was smoke smelling, manager changed it right away. Can't beat the location. Room could've been cleaner.

Was it luxurious? No. But the location is awesome, the price is unbeatable, the room was big and the bed was very comfortable. It's Santa Fe, how much time are you going to spend in your room? Stay here and spend the dollars you save on great dinners, jewelry or 10,000 waves.

The staff here are wonderful. Robert at the front desk was extremly helpful. The location two blocks from the plaza is well worth a little extra costs.

Long before Santa Fe turned into bistro-hotel heaven. Garretts is like a time warp to the Santa Fe your parents might remember, with wood paneling in the hotel office, a full motel feel (though you'll be charged an unexpected fee to park at your own hotel) and small rectangular rooms resplendent with the feel of the disco era. It's not a nightmare by […] any means and is indeed within crawling distance of the downtown square and all the $300 a night spots (many of which offer rooms a quarter the size); the rooms just tend to be on the somewhat worn end of the scale, and the tiled bathrooms will remind you of a bygone era. No wintertime pool or hot tub, well-worn towels, simple furniture, porous sound dynamics. Inexpensive and evidently pet-friendly (from the barking we heard at night). Mehr

Loved the location! So close to everything we wanted to see. Only problem - the television did not work most of the time. The restaurant did not have much on their menu - we chose not to eat there. But e would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to our friends.

The location is very convenient for walking the heart of Santa Fe. Beds were tired. Heating system was either full on or very cold so you were either blasted with hot air or felt cold. TV was small and old. The rooms are in need of a bit of TLC. Back when the interstate was new this Motel was pushing the envelope. Now it feels like a bit tired.

Check in was a lengthy ordeal and they could use new linens and towels in the rooms. Location was key!!

We have stayed in slightly more upscale SF hotels but this time went for economy. Location: A block or so from prime touristy Old Santa Fe. Hotel staff: Delightful. We had […] decided to spend our money this trip on dining and shopping, so the hotel room mattered very little beyond a decent location and simple cleanliness. Cleanliness: A couple of areas of wallpaper could stand to be reglued, but the room itself was perfectly clean. No complaints. The bed frame was a little creaky and the single door separating our room from the adjacent room was thin. We could not hear the TV next door but we could hear talking when there were several people over there. Garrett's was AOK and in a great location. 2-3 minutes on foot and you're in Cathedral Square. Overall, the location is great, it is clean, the parking is on the cheaper side. The rooms are old, they have not been renovated in years. Not that you spend much time in the room, but 19" Tube TV. Definitely a 5 on location though.

If you want to stay in a motel which shouts "I have arrived" Garrets is not for you. If, however, you would like a two story, horseshoe shaped well maintained older motel, with comfortable rooms, free wifi, easy and ample parking (you have to pay extra, of course, but that;s Santa Fe) this is for you. The restaurant which is attached seems to have new […] owners each year, but the location puts you witin walking distance to any restaurant you might want, and walking is a part of what Santa Fe is about. The staff is friendly, the rooms clean, nice outdoor pool and if the weather is cooperative, you can sit on the chairs on the balcony which serves as a common outdoor walkway to the rooms, and sip wine and cheeze which you provide or eat a pizza acquired from the nearby restaurant and watch the sun set over the mountains. The bed was uncomfortable. The alarm clock flashed even after we set the time. We finally unplugged it. Not worth the price.

Perfect location in Santa Fe. We were only interested in a place to sleep, close to the plaza, so this place worked for us. Our room had perhaps a little more wear and tear than I'm used to, but it was clean and quiet.

Older but location, location! Nice flowers and pool outside. Just a couple of blocks from the plaza. Perfect spot for a Santa Fe stay.

The only good thing about this hotel is its location. It is right next to San Miguel church and three blocks from the Cathedral/Plaza. The images listed here from the rooms are not what you get, they should be revised. The rooms are decent and we used them just for the night. When you sleep in the beds you roll towards the middle. Beds not confortable and worn out. Stay was great and location was awesome but the beds need to be replaced

This place is all about location--there's no more reasonably-priced place to stay within easy walking distance of the plaza. The hotel is on par with any average (fairly dated) Holiday Inn, and our room was spotless. Staff were very helpful and friendly. For anyone looking to stay in a central location in Santa Fe on a budget, this is the place.

Old hotel that needs a face-lift. Grounds are nice Ans close to the square, but looks and feels tired. I would recommend staying at other hotels that are far better for the same rate.

If you would rather spend your money shopping Santa Fe, this is a classic route 66 hotel, a great tour and shopping location. Would stay again.

I stayed here for 4 days with my 7 year old daughter, and we enjoyed the close proximity to all the popular Santa Fe sites. My daughter enjoyed the pool, and it was reasonably priced for downtown Santa Fe.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay and found the staff very friendly. I had read reviews about sagging mattresses and so I mentioned it in my reservation and again at check-in. The mattress was very comfortable. The only drawback was the loose bathtub flooring. It required being extra careful when turning around. Otherwise, the colorful flowering plants […] adorning the balconies, the response of the staff to our concerns, the reasonable room rate and pet fee and the short walking distance to the Cathedral and surroundings made it an enjoyable stay. Pool overlooks the parking lot. Rooms are old and outdated, but clean. Location is great, but the price isn't worth it due to the condition of the rooms.

This is not a fancy place but it is clean and affordable in a terrific location. It was great to be a couple minutes walk away from the Plaza yet pay very little. There's a nice pool area at the motel and every staff person I talked with was friendly. If you are looking for a place to throw your bags, take a shower, get a good night sleep, enjoy a swim, […] walk to the center of town, and pay less than a third of what the boutique hotels charge, then this is a great place!
