Del Monte Pines Motel - Monterey

The room was a throw back to the 70's. They advertise the front desk is open 24 hours but it is NOT. I wanted to leave at 7am and had to wait until the opened the office at 9am. The "breakfast" is bananas and toast.

Stafff was very rude. Was hung up by staff and treated horribly.

Good place for the money. Just a convenient place to stay. I like it because it was reasonably-priced.

The customer service was quick, the room was very clean and comfortable and they offered a continental breakfast which was simple and nice. Definately recommend it!

The walls were paper thin, as were towels! The plumbing needs definite maintenance or upgrades. Whenever a toilet was flushed or a shower or sink was turned on anywhere in the hotel the pipes could be heard knocking very LOUDLY then the rush of water . The knob to divert the water from the bath tub spout to the shower head was broken so it made for […] an uncomfortably loud shower with little pressure. The shower curtain was ripped about two feet from the bottom up. The power completly turned off twice, when I went to the office the manager asked if I was trying to use the microwave. I guess the electrical needs up be updated too. Curtains are too small for the window, lights from the walkway outside showed through all night. Location was good, sheets were clean. Mehr

Motel was nice and cozy, the fireplace made it more comfortable and relaxing.

Overpriced for value

There was a plumbing knock that went off anytime anyone used any water in my end of the motel...pretty loud. The breakfast (???) consisted of banana's that were ready for banana bread, poppy seed muffins and a pitcher of orange juice. For a cheap night stay not bad, but noisy.

The hotel was fairly clean and convieniently located but that's about it. Our biggest complaint was how loud the water pipes are. All night long and whenever anyone would turn water on or flush the toilet it was extremely loud. We have a 5 month old and this made her keep waking up. Also, the complimentary breakfast can hardly be considered breakfast. […] It consisted of quartered muffins and old orange juice which actually made us sick. We won't be staying here again. Mehr

The room was not very clean, carpets are stained. Pillow and mattress were hard and did not smell fresh. I am not sure that the sheets had been changed. The board outside advertised 'free HBO' - there was none. When we asked the front desk, we were told that because the board was wooden, then could not remove the sign - what happened to placing a board […] over it and painting it? The cold drinks vending machine was not working and neither were the ice makers. My husband called to complain and the owner/manager told us to come to the front desk, he had drinks there. He then wanted to charge us for 2 bottles of water! What has happened to customer service, especially since this was the second time we had called about an issue we had. This hotel was horrible! The worst part was the man who worked the front desk... So rude! And their "continental breakfast" is a joke! Would never stay there again

From the time I checked in I felt like my privacy was invaded. I have been to Monterey many times and never had to give any info on a reservation I had made on line. The clerk told me the police wanted the intormation of my address, phone and drivers license #. Normally when we check in to a hotel all they want is to see an ID and the credit card the […] reservation was made under. Then the maid left us a gift when she cleaned the room on Sat morning. She set the alarm for midnight to an annoying mexican channel. I will say the jaccuzzi tub was nice, and the bed comfortable. But I will never stay here again. Mehr

We found that the pillows were really uncomfortable, and the noise outside of the walls was easily heard. An elevator would have been helpful, too.

There are absolutely no frills or thrills to this motel. It's only a place to hang your hat if you were hard pressed to find a place quickly and didn't plan ahead. Virtually everything needs updating. The pillows were hard, the towels were virtually see through, and the bed wasn't that comfortable.

The Monterey area is expensive, and we were trying to get close to downtown on a budget. Also, I wanted a hotub. This was where we ended out, with an in-room jacuzzi. The motel is older, and smaller than others. The room was clean, but there was obvious deferred maintenance. The jacuzzi was barely big enough for two, but it did work. The most uncomfortable mattress I ever slept on and carpets need cleaning smells in room

My stay at this hotel wasn't completely unpleasant, however my last hotel I stayed in in Monterey was nicer and cheaper. To me this was a case of false advertisement. The shower sprayed all over the bathroom getting everything wet. The clock wasn't plugged in. The amenities were out dated. The overall hotel was in need of serious reconditioning. Def will never stay here again and am kicking myself for booking it. I thought I would give it a try since it was such a good price. Our stay started off on a bad note when I started the check in process. I felt who helped me which I assume was the owner was quite rude. I called the wk prior to our reservation to request an early ck. They of course […] said they would try to accomodate us. When our reservation was looked up when I walked in the man says your room isn't ready and I feel I explained it nicely that I requested an early ck in. He had attitude when he replied. I don't deserve an attitude. How ironic that when my hubby and 17 month old son walk in he conveniently has a room ready upstairs. I never once felt comfertable in that room and didn't want to ck out and pay for another motel. We stayed one night and ck'd out before ck out time. I didn't even feel comfertable to take a shower there!!! Last yr, we stayed at a wonderful hotel on Cannery Row. It will def be worth it to revisit that one even though it is so much more expensive. The strange thing was seeing nice granite counters - BUT then... some important details were missing. The towels were sandpaper rough and very small. The bathmat was so threadbare we could see through it. The shower curtain was so light and cheap that it kept sticking to us as we showered. No shampoo or ant amenities were offered.

For a motel, Del Monte Pines was nice and quaint, but I would expect more for what they're charging. One wall outlet didn't work, the drain plug on the tub was broken, and the water pressure in the shower was WAY too high, and not adjustable. The bed, fireplace and refrigerator were nice touches though and the room was relatively clean.

Some of our travel plans fell apart, disastrously, at the last minute, and we needed something convenient, clean, and very cheap. The Del Monte Pines was all three. It is an older building, and not very pretty, but it is clean, and the flowers that decorated the upper floor railings were very pretty. The towels were very thin (understatement), and it […] was pretty noisy. Would recommend if you need something for one or two nights just to crash in. Would NOT recommend if this is where you planned to stay for a romantic get away on the peninsula. Mehr

Extrmely comfortable. Hot shower.....that is a major plus. Huge bed. Fireplace worked, very romantic room for the price. Loved it!!

The Room was great. People wrote reviews about how it smelled and wasn't that great. It's not a luxury hotel. It's affordable and you get what you pay for. My room did have a little bit of a smell i must admit. But it had a fireplace which I used and nice granite. I went in with low expectations and came out with a smile. I was very pleased and would […] recommend this hotel. I small fee of 8.00 for a taxi to the hot spots at night was excellent. The toilets flushed, the water had great pressure and room was clean. I did hear someone complaining about WIFI but my laptop worked fine. It was safe and felt at home. HBO does not come with the room but why would anyone want to watch TV when there is a beautiful city to explore? I went so many places without a worry of my hotel room getting rampaged into. Its a beautiful city and a nice room. It's not a five star hotel but you get what you pay for. A deal! Its a place to stay and the nice furniture, granite top, restrooms, and lovely fireplace is awesome. I would highly recommend. Room stinks like hell. Every thing provided in the room look like 100 years old. STAY AWAY!!!

If you want to spend the minimum a night you won't do much better. Great for us traveling contractors.

We were a little leary about our stay at the Delmonte Pines because we had never been there before. We were pleasantly surprised. The rooms were small but very clean and comfortable. Their location was close to the freeway and all our activities. We felt safe and the desk clerk was curteous. We would stay again. This Smoke free hotel offers a great location for your stay in Monterey. Whole foods is directly across the street and Monte Vista Market is just up the street. The hotel is just off the freeway but there is no freeway noise. This family run business has a very nice family running it. One thing, bring your own pillow

The outside of the motel was really cute and the inside of the room was kinda corky but I wouldn't want anything less. For the price, it's exactly what I would expect. The beds were kind of hard and there wasn't any ice in the ice machine. Other then that no complaints. Great location and easy to find. I would stay again.

It was overpriced for the room, and it's old and in need of repair.

The bed was hard,the linens on the bed were old and did not smell clean. The spray from the shower was so strong it stung, you could not turn it down and the shower curtain would not stay in place so water went all over the floor. The man at the front desk was so focused on his computer all he did was give you your key . He didn't bother to tell you […] if you need ice to come back to the office to get it, and I don't even know if they provide shampoo because there wasn't any. I wasn't expecting much for such a low price, but the room was cute and cozy. Had a fireplace which added to the charm of the room. It was kitchy done right.

The break-feast was muffins and OJ. You need to go out for something to eat. Otherwise we would look for something else next time in town.

Stayed there for one night and the beds weren't that comfortable. There was a "breakfast", meaning that muffins cut into quarters and orange juice. That's it. I would not stay here again especially with kids. If you don't need much out of a motel then stay here. But if you would like comfort and something a little more luxourious then dont stay her […] e. The hotel itself is nice. It's an older hotel with some newer updates. The bathrooms have been redone and are nice. There is a nice gas fireplace in the room which was a quaint touch. The staff was great. No complaints at all. It just seemed a little more expensive than what I've paid for similar rooms in other beach towns.
