This was our first trip to the island and it was a wonderful experience. We managed to get around most of the main island and, in my opinion, St. Julian's is the best location. While the hotel is not directly on the sea it is a 2 minute walk down the hill and the hotel has its own small, private beach. The bars and nightlife of Paceville are right next […] door and even if this is not what you are looking for, we did not find that the noise disturbed at all. There is a convenient supermarket 5 minutes’ walk away and numerous places to eat and of course to shop. While the hotel is situated in St Georges Bay, St Julian’s bay, specifically Spinola bay, is just a 5 minute walk over the hill, and the walk around the bay and to the point in Sliema is very pleasant with numerous places to sit and/or swim. If you like walking, even the ferry to Valetta at the Sliema waterfront is not that far and a very pleasant walk indeed. Everyone in Malta is very helpful and friendly and the Hotel staff especially so. The staff at the Concierge's desk were extremely helpful and nothing was a problem for them. We felt very comfortable. The pool deck is lovely if you don't feel like going out. I would say the hotel is perfect for couples as well as for people with children, and people of all ages. Sehr gutes Hotel, das allerdings in der Partymeile Maltas liegt. Innen ruhig und einem 5-Sterne-Hotel angemessen, außen Trubel die ganze Nacht. Zimmer sehr sauber, reichhaltiges Frühstück und freundliches, kompetentes Personal. Der ca. 200m entfernte kleine Privatstrand ist eher zum Vergessen, als zum Entspannen. Super Hotel,hatten ein Familienzimmer gebucht(4 Betten),dieses war sehr geräumig und sauber. Das Frühstücksbuffett war sehr gut,nette Bedienung/en.Das Hotel hat eine Gute Lage direkt um die Ecke sind Bars und Restaurant´s. Der kleine Strand ist ca. 10 m entfernt.

Das Zimmer der Club-Kategorie hatte einen muffigen Geruch, der vor allem in den Schubladen der Möbel störend war und sich auf die Kleidung übertrug. Die Fensterrahmen waren aus ihrer Verankerung gelöst und waren frei beweglich. Der Wellnessbereich hatte keine funktionstüchtigen (abschgließbaren) Umkleideschränke. Die Speisen in den Buffetrestaurant und in derr Clube-Lounge sind von sehr einfachem Niveau und teilweise nicht genießbar. Das Hotel liegt im touristisch geprägten Ort St. Julians, etwa 10 km vom Flughafen entfernt. Es verfügt über mehrere gute Restaurants und Bars. Wir waren zwei Kollegen und buchten das Hotel für eine Woche. Das erste Zimmer, welches wir am Abend unserer Ankunft in Malta erhielten, war feucht und roch etwas nach Feuchtigkeit. Unsere Beschwerde wurde freundlich aufgenommen und wir konnten am nächsten Morgen in neues Zimmer (upgrade) wechseln. Check in/check out, ging sehr schnell und unkompliziert. Hotelpersonal ist sehr freundlich. Hotel liegt glich neben der partymeile, von der musik hörten wir jedoch nichts. Hotel ist in die jahre gekommen und hat keine 5 sterne verdient. Wir hatten die terassen suite im 15. Stock; zwei kleinere zimmer, grosses bad und grosse terasse, zwei flachblidschirme […] (schlaf- wohnzimmer). Ausstattung der zimmer war schlechter als IKEA Standart. Alter holztisch, abgenüzter teppich, beistelltische und lampen sehr alt und wacklig. Die beiden doppelbetter im zimmer sind zweimal kaputt gegangen (rollfüsse abgebrochen), somit wir zweimal ein techniker rufen mussten. Zusammengefasst: zimmer mies, personal freundlich. Entry level room does not provide coffee/tea making facilities which is poor for a 5 star hotel. Room was carpeted but never vacuumed during a six night stay. Did not receive the room type booked.

Excellent hotel. In party capital of Malta with loads of bar restaurant, bay and other great things to do things near by. Very big clean room with separate shower and bath. Room has balcony with buildings view as it was 20euro extra per night for over looking pool view. Indoor pool is bit busy but have decent outdoor pool to enjoy the sun.

The Intercontinental Malta is an excellent hotel where the staff are extremely attentive with excellent high standards. The receptionist on our first day couldn't have been better giving us some great advice on Malta and Gozo and how to get back from Gozo late at night. My short stay at this hotel, was with a party of friends, to celebrate my 50th birthday. Upon arrival, we were impressed by the friendliness & courtesy of the front desk staff. We were all upgraded to superior rooms, than those that we had booked & were all very pleased with the service we received. Our rooms were very clean & spacious, having all the […] amenities you would expect, from this calibre of hotel. The bed was extremely comfortable. The bathroom had a bath & also separate shower cubicle, which was good, especially after a visit, to the excellent gym facility. Breakfast was very pleasing, being offered a large fare of the usual, hot,cooked items. There was also, pancakes, a selection of cold meats & cheeses, cereals, omelettes cooked to order, fruit & yoghurts, assorted breads & Danish pastries. Unfortunately, the weather (being the middle of january) prevented us from using the outdoor swimming pool. On the evening of my birthday, we returned to our room, to find a bottle of bubbly, on ice, along with some chocolates. Very nice they were too. All in all, I would not hesitate, to recommend this hotel & hope to return, very soon. Mehr

It was a great and comfortable hotel. Real 5 star service (which is rare in Rome). The location is SUPERB. Just step out of the hotel and you can walk to the only nightlife street of Malta. Very happening street with all best clubs and lounges. Do the city sightseeing the whole day, come back to hotel, chill, take a swim in indoor pool (if it is cold), […] have a drink at the hotel bar, and then at 10-11 PM step out for nightlife. Bit of a building site around the hotel but within the hotel it feels sufficiently insulated from the noise. Hotel is in an excellent location if you like it lively & also good access to all the island. Breakfast is expensive but excellent. We had free on-demand movies which was a nice touch.

My stay at the hotel was very enjoyable. The bathroom had a few problems which need addressing and the loud music from nearby bars did disturb a good nights sleep. However all the staff could not have been more helpfull and I would stay there again.

Large, modern hotel with good size room. Pool on the roof with plenty of sunbeds and bar/cafe to enjoy but unfortunately building work nearby meant it was not always peaceful. Great selection for breakfast, plenty of choices for restaurants in and near the hotel. Busy street with cinema/ bowling and street round the corner with all the bars and clubs […] but quieter bars within a short walk. Indoor pool ok and both had a good massage at the spa (not cheap). Terrific hotel with all amenities, HOWEVER currently surrounded by building sites which were so noisy we had to change rooms. The staff were amenable to this and changed our luggage over whilst we were out but not a relaxing start. The hotel is beautiful with lovely gardens and facilities and staying in October meant it wasn't busy by the pool or on the beach. Only had the breakfast, which was fantastic and lasted you all day, but can't comment on other meals there. Outside the hotel is a building site at the moment so not the prettiest location and quite noisy. Loved our stay at this great hotel in the heart of Paceville. Facilities were excellent - Huge gym, 2 pools, spa and sauna - and great selection of restaurants. Also just down the road from the hotel was a private beach. The bus service into Valetta is a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel and the reception gave us a handy summary of which routes to catch. […] Wifi worked well in the rooms. We asked to be moved from our initial room due to a bad smell and a carpet which was so stained we did not want to take our shoes off. Reception were excellent in moving us and the new room we moved to was clean and all you would expect from an intercontinental hotel. Service and food in the hotel was excellent with price's very reasonable. The Intercontinental was an excellent hotel. We had good service from friendly, English speaking staff and a very comfortable room. We stayed only one night on our way back from Gozo to UK, the idea being to give us a chance to take a look at Valletta. My husband and I went to Intercontinental for our honeymoon. We had breakfast at their buffet. The service was very poor. We did not even get asked for hot tea or coffee until we were done eating. The hotel and the services provided by the hotel are of a very good standard, however despite the latter fact, the Gym/Fitness Center was well below par with many of the equipment unoperable and dangerous to the users.

The Hotel when out of there way to make sure we had a wonderful stay. Really good with local knowledge of area and services.Great location for local bars and shops. My treatments (Turkish Bath) was increadable and very professional. Would definatly stay again.

Don't be fooled by the 5* rating on Expedia. This is not a 5* hotel. In my experience 5* hotels cater and indulge the individual whereas the Intercontinental simply caters to the masses. It is a huge hotel with a massive occupancy which is no bad thing in itself but to my mind the following prevents it from being classed as a 5* hotel: - The pool […] is small given the hotel occupancy and as a result the top floor sun terrace is cramped and crowded. Sunbeds are crammed in 3/4 deep around the pool with insufficeint shade and space. You are almost touching those around you and it is particualry unpleasant to be this close when surrounded by smokers. Also nice to be handed our poolside food in a polystyrene kebab box like a 3am takeaway. Classy. - Given the hotel occupancy there are simply not enough lifts! A small gripe but we actually timed the wait at 8 minutes for a lift to stop at our floor to take us the 9 floors down to breakfast. - We stayed in a deluxe room, a class up from the standard. There was nothing deluxe about it. The balconies are crammed in so close you can see into the adjoining rooms. One the other side the view was a a/c plant and half-finished buildings. The bid linen and carpet were not clean. - The standard of repair is poor. In need of a full refurb from the cracked and filthy tiles on the pool terrace to the mildew covered shower in the room. Not to mention the dead plants on every balcony and peeling paint. Quite simply not luxurious / 5* at all. Mehr
