Ich habe mich hier sehr wohl gefühlt, auch wenn das Hotel sehr dicht am Hwy liegt, so dass man im Hintergrund das Vorbeifahren der Autos hört, dafür ist man schnell wieder auf dem Hwy1. Das Hotel hat den Vorteil, dass es nur ein paar Minuten vom Marina State Beach entfernt liegt. Einen Meeresblick bieten die Zimmer allerdings nicht. Außerdem gibt es einen eigenen Frühstücksraum und das Frühstücksangebot geht über das übliche Continental Breakfast hinaus, wobei das Angebot an Cereals gegenüber vor 2 Jahren nachgelassen hat. Preis - Leistungsverhältnis stimmen jedenfalls.

Hotel und Zimmer soweit OK (nur eine Übernachtung). Da kein Frühstückraum vorhanden, erfolgt Bereitstellung des Frühstücks mittels einer Kühlbox. Inhalt 'überschaubar'.

Ein Hotel, in dem man sich Wohlfühlen kann und von dem aus sich die atemberaubende Gegend (Ort, Küste, 17 Miles Drive, Monterey, Carmel Valley geut erschließen läßt. Die Lage etwas außerhalb ist für Leute, die sowieso unterwegs sind genauso unwichtig wie die Nutzer der Wellnessangebote. Ausschließlich optisch stört ein ganz wenig die nahegelgene Tankstelle, aber who´perfect ? Ein gutes Hotel zum Weiterempfehlen.
Lage
Howard Johnson Express - Monterey liegt in Monterey in der Nähe von Monterey Museum of Art – Pacific Street, Fisherman's Wharf und Dennis the Menace Park. Nicht weit entfernt befinden sich: Maritime Museum und Monterey Museum of Art – La Mirada.

We were satisfied with the location. The hotel is older and in general is basic. However the manager was very responsive and friendly and the room was very clean. We would stay there again. The breakfast was also good, having a good selection of foods for the limited space available.

"Last Resort Only"
Rather dumpy. Exhaust fan in bathroom real noisy and you can hear the other rooms fan too. There are better but it was a busy weekend in Monterey and most hotels were full. Will not go back.

"Monterey Hotel"
This hotel is perfect for a one night stay. The continental breakfast was in the lobby were you check in and there were no tables. No convenient.
"Good bed & good location"
Hotel was OK, but it is old and not very well maintained. The first room I was assigned (#103) had a bed that sagged in the middle; I was given another room with a much better bed. I reported several issues to the front desk when I checked out after the third night: Electrical outlets were so old that they wouldn't hold the prongs of the plugs in the […] outlet. The toilet tank flapper valve needed replacing... this caused the tank to refill about every 5-10 minutes. The light over the table had a motion sensor switch and would step up the brightness to the max and then shut off... unusable for reading. The sink in the bathroom was slow to drain. I didn't spend a lot of time in the room, but I was disappointed in the maintenance. Also, it wasn't clear to me when I made the reservation that it was non-refundable. I'll be more careful about non-refundable reservations in the future. Mehr
This hotel is great! The room is nice with a frig, microwave and coffee maker. The front desk guy was very nice and helpful. Its less then 5 mins. from the beach and only two blocks from the mall, witch has great restaurants and a theater. We ended up staying 2 extra nights here.

We didn't expect much because of the great price but we were happily surprised to be given a microwave, blow dryer, and refrigerator. They also offered a continental breakfast with waffes, cereal, tea, and hot chocolate. Fairly small hotel but only a very short drive to downtown and aquarium as well as 10 min to Carmel. Only negative thing was that […] when my boyfriend and I got there she to me that i was booked for 1 night until I told her that I had my receipt in the car. So bring your receipt! The stay at this hotel was fine. Room and beds were clean and comfortable. The hotel staff were helpful. I have to make one complaint. The card key for the room worked only about 1 in 10 times. They re-charged the card key but that didn't help any.

This motel was convenient to Highway 1 but not to Monterey attractions. Breakfast good, close to shopping mall, quiet and good service. No internet PC for guests, wireless available.

The Motel was very disappointing. A toilet plunger came with the room and was used, the bathroom sink faucet barely trickled water, carpet was dirty, and the well worn old room was in dire need of updating. Not recommended.

Nice staff, shame about the condition of the room. It all felt slightly grimy and there were fingermarks by the door handle, not sure if it was grime or wear. Frankly, it was depressing. The toilet cistern overflowed which finished us off. We left a day early.

"Howard Johnson Express - clean and courteous"
Staff was very friendly and helpful, offered directions and advice on area. Light continental breakfast provided. Room was clean and comfortable, provided with microwave and refrigerator. Very quiet area close to shopping mall, cannery row/aquarium, and scuba diving locations.

O café da manhã (continental com suco de laranja, leite (na geladeira abaixo do balcão), café americano, wafel (que vc faz na hora), cereal matinal, pão de forma e donuts) é servido no lobby do hotel, e não há local para sentar. De hotelkamers zijn heel erg gehorig en zeker niet aan te bevelen voor mensen die licht slapen. Z'n geld waard.??? Nee eigenlijk niet.
