Die Lage des Hotels ist ausgezeichnet, ca. 200 m entfernt von Puerta del Sol. Das Hotelteam war sehr freundlich. Frühstück war im Preis nicht inbegriffen, konnte aber extra dazugebucht werden. Ich würde das auf jeden Fall empfehlen: das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr reichlich und gut. If you are visiting the downtown area of Madrid this is your place, right smack in the middle of town you are walking distance pretty much to every attraction and sight seeing you'll want in Madrid. We walked to the next: Plaza Mayor, Museo del Prado, Parque del buen Retiro, Debod temple, Plaza Espana, Palacio Real, Puerta de Alacala etc.

Pros: Well located, close to Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol and the Royal Palace, helpful staff, good free wifi in the room, good size bedroom and bathroom for Europe, comfortable bed. Cons: Can be a bit noisy since it is right on one of the busiest pedestrian streets, walls are also pretty thin, you have to rent the safe in the room.

It was fine for us. Very close to Puerta Del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Palace, Cathedral etc. Easy to get around and very close to Metro and Cercanias Main Train line. We used Hotel Shuttle to airport and were a little stressed when the time was changed at last minute from 8.00am to 8.15am and it also had two other Hotels to collect people from. One set of […] passengers delayed the transport further so we were concerned that we would miss our flight but we didn't. The driver was very good and helpful. Breakfast buffet was good with attentive staff. We had expected tea/coffee making facilities in our room but on arrival there was none. The internet connection was terrible, i had problems almost everyday and low signal...the computer room on the 1st floor have 2 computers that work but very slow... Breakfast, and all the workers at the hotel where very friendly and helpful..

The GPS was only partially helpful, so we parked the car and went looking for the hotel.The location is great. Although the hotel was clean and comfortable it would benefit from an upgrade to the decor. Seemed like a step back in time to the forties. Hotel was in walking distance of the main centre for Museums and shopping, as well as being close to a Metro station. Overall a good experience.

The hotel is at excellent location in Madrid, but came with street noise. The triple room does not include 110 V outlet, which is inconvenience to American travellers. However, staff were helpful, breakfast and service were excellent.

In a perfect location. Loads of shopping and dining and walking distance to important sites and streets, like the Via Grande. Note that during the day, taxis will not deliver you to the front door because of pedestrian traffic, but it's easy to get to from any nearby drop-off point. Charming 3 star hotel. Comfortable beds. Basic soap dispensers on the bath walls ..nothing special. Hot breakfast was very good...juices, fresh fruit, breads, scrambled eggs, breakfast meats served by a friendly staff. I agree with other reviewers...that it IS a noisy location, and it hard to sleep if you're not prepared with a good set of ear plugs. […] Party goers walk the street all night and are loud. Voices and laughter echoed between the buildings. In addition, while we were there, there was a retail shop being demolished in the middle of the night...breaking glass, metal wall frames being thrown into a truck, trucks coming and going all night and workers shouting to each other --- obviously no noise ordinances for night time construction. Having said all that....the location is superb. The hotel is within comfortable walking distance to all the major sights. Many restaurants to choose from within half a block. The hotel is in a great location--that's the best thing I can say about it. The bathroom in our room was TINY! And in the tiny bathroom was a miniscule shower. Our room was quiet because our window faced a wall. I looked at pictures on the Hotels.com website and cannot imagine how they were taken to make the rooms look large. The front desk personnel […] were surly as was one of the waiters in the breakfast room. The breakfast room and sitting area on the 1st floor were actually the only two pluses of this hotel (do not know about the breakfast itself as we chose to eat outside the hotel). No complaints - a solid, decent hotel... Nothing flashy but ticks all the boxes... Nice rooms, good staff, great location in the heart of Madrid... Maybe get a room on one of the lower floors - the elevator fits 3 people in it so at rush hours (check out) you want to take the stairs...

The hotel location was great. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel staff was friendly. The only concern we had was that we found that the hotel staff--either cleaning or other staff left our door not completely secured --either the door was left unlocked or it was not completely shut/secured so anyone could get into our room while we were out. […] We are quite sure that we securely closed and locked our door each and every time. I was a little desapointed by the hotel. The room was old looking and also smelled old. The window opened to a wall of a very small interior court. The hair dryer in the bathroom didn't work, I mentioned it to the receptionist, and they told me they would give me a portable one, but never did.The wifi was free and available in the room which is a plus. […] The breakfast wasn't included in the price and at 9 Euro per person, it seems a little steep, however we didn't try it so maybe it was worth it. We had breakfast outside the hotel, and spent 13 Euros for 3 persons. The staff was just OK, not wonderful. The shuttle to the airport needs to be requested at least one day in advance, and we didn't know that. They should mention it when the guest arrive just in case they will need a ride to the airport at the end of their stay. Mehr

We enjoyed our stay at Carlos V and would stay here again. The staff were extremely helpful. Whenever we needed something or directions, they were always accommodating with a smile. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast in the mornings and as well, drinks before dinner.

This hotel is very close to the city center, metro, restaurants, shopping area, etc. Clean rooms and lounge area with a computer station. Their buffet breakfast is very good. The staff offers luggage storage in case you arrive early as well as shuttle service to the airport for 10 euros, both of which were very helpful during our trip. So I was going to Spain and it was my job to get the hotel, I knew from experience on hotels.com that it was easy to do last minute. I came across this hotel and noticed it was affiliated with best western so i gave it a chance. Couldn't be more pleased, Spain is a great country and Madrid is a big city but I was able to walk to pretty much any tourist […] location from this hotel. Also it is about 3-5 minutes to the subway walking from this hotel so you can go anywhere in the city. Very close to both food and shops right near Puerta del Sol. The amenities were standard and the service was very good. The breakfast is not included but i recommend eating at the hotel for breakfast at least once since the food there is very good! Mehr

We'd stay here again. The location is great for walking to the many restaurants & shops. Plus, its a short walk to the train station. We took the train from the airport to the station near to our hotel and found our way very easily. Friendly staff.

Staff, location, & cleanliness was excellent. The streets are very noisey during the middle of the night. One night two men were arguing and fighting at 3:30am for what seemed like a long time. Hotel staff should not of allowed it to go on for so long!

Nice, quiet room as requested. Bathroom good size by European standards. Clean and comfortable. Accomodated 3 of us easily and comfortably. Able to get in and out of hotel easily. GREAT location!
