Best Western of Long Beach - Long Beach

Very convenient hotel to stay if taking a cruise out of Long Beach. The hotel provides a well priced shuttle service to the cruise ship.

Only 1 elevator for the entire hotel. Heated pool did not work and the front desk staff did not seem concerned about this or tell us a timeline for when it would be fixed. They provided a crib in a timely manner and the breakfast was nice, however the breakfast room was very crowded from about 8am-9pm. No TV guide was provided in the room. The room […] did appear to be clean and well stocked with pillows. Nice to have a mini fridge and microwave. Location was great for us because we traveled to two different areas of Long Beach and the hotel was centrally located. The area surrounding the hotel seemed very much like low-income housing. Mehr

My overall impression of the hotel was quite decent the room I was provided was a very good size and no real complaints about the cleanliness of the room or the hotel in general. The service was pretty basic and more or less that was what I was expecting. The location of the hotel is located directly beside the Metro Blue line which provides a convenient […] transportation to downtown Long Beach which is about a 30 minute walk away. I would not suggest being out much beyond dark as the neighbour hood while not what I was define as run down or extremely dangerous is also not what I would call the safest either. If I were to stay in Long Beach again I would look to spend more and be located in the downtown area. Mehr

This was my third stay ar BWLB for Grand Prix weekend, and as before I found it to be ideal, despite being a little way out of downtown. What makes it work for me is having the Metro station (Blue Line - Pacific Coast Highway) directly outside, with a $5 day ticket getting you unlimited travel on the Metro network, so no need for a hire car (a free […] shuttle bus runs from LAX to the Metro Green Line, then there's one change onto the Blue Line). The neighbourhood isn't the best, but if all you need is a bed for the night then it's fine, hotel staff very helpful, rooms very comfortable, but not at Downtown LB prices. I was really nervous when I arrived in the vicinity of this hotel. The neighborhood is a sketchy ghetto. Not the fault of the hotel people, but a little unsettling just the same. The room was a little noisy because it was so close to the train. I walked across the street to Mc Donald's at 9pm on Saturday and was in fear of my life because the neighborhood and associated foot traffic. The room was comfortable, staff could be a bit more inviting, but overall it is a good deal.

The pictures of the hotel interiors an exterior cannot possibly describe the state and condition of deterioration. Rooms smell of cheep deodorant that attempts to cover strong odor of cigarettes. The carpets are old and stained. I arrived late and took off as early as I could.

The hotel was very clean and well-maintained. The front desk staff at check-in was not very friendly, but the man on the morning desk was friendly and helpful. It was very convenient to the aquarium and harbor. I have no complaint about the hotel, which was comfortable and clean. It's not the hotel's fault it is 40 feet from the Metro Rail. But, the […] noise of the Metro Rail kept us awake until midnight when the trains stopped, so that made me not want to stay here again. Mehr

While it isn't the best neighborhood, it is a good hotel for the location. You are close to Long Beach Community College. It is a pretty busy intersection though, with the blue line running right in front of the hotel. There are a few fast food places to eat around the area.

This hotel was run-down, the breakfast was not good and the neighborhood leaves a lot to be desired. Wouldn't stay here again.

Marco, the manager, is really a nice guy and made me feel comfortable. He allowed early check-in/out and made the stay comfortable. Do not expect too much if you stay in this hotel. No zym, old appliances, one elevator (long wait), and overall old hotel. Location isn't great too.

We only had one night to spend here but it was very comfortable and a very short drive to anything that you wanted to do.

My biggest complaint was that you could hear every footstep from the person staying above your room. It was very, very annoying when you are trying to get a peaceful rest and you hear clomping above, which you can do nothing about! Probably won't stay here unless I get a top floor room. Then I would.

This was my children's first time in the Los Angeles/Long Beach California area and we had a wonderful time as a family. This hotel was very convenient to all of the local attractions and really worked well to guard against the Los Angeles traffic! This property was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Free Parking because they had to. It was such a blessing to have it free, but when you tour the surrounding areas, and see bars on homes and low income people all over the place in their wife beaters, I felt kind of scared. The front desk was courteous and helpful in giving me directions to a nearby seafood restaurant. I read through all the comments […] about this Best Western and the one I couldn't shake was that managerial staff would not help if things were lost or stolen from rooms. So I made it my goal not to leave anything of worth in those rooms. It was said that things were lifted during the room cleaning. Well, needless to say I went back for my laptop after driving away nearly 15 min. Just can't take chances. Also, the manager, when I first got there, had me sign a disclaimer saying that they would charge $200 or $400 if there was any smoking on or near the premises. Thank God I don't smoke, but he said there a lots of people who get nailed for this because everything is on camera. It just left me feeling that not only were things in a bad area, but they were out to get clients too. It's nice to have non smoking areas though. The Breakfast was waffles, hard boiled eggs, and typical continental breakfast. Nice to have 3 varieties of juice there as well. Our room was facing the pool, and rather quiet. We really enjoyed our two days there. Location was awful though. Needed a place to stay inbetween Santa Monica and Disney, w/free parking. Everything else was really expensive. Was going to give it a 2 stars, but realized how wonderful a deal it was. Not to mention, the "free covered"/mandatory gated parking, refrigerator/microwave, clean hotel, and free food 6-9:30 am. Conveient location on a main street, opposite communter train station. Located within a mile or so of Pine St restaurant row, and the City Place. Personnel were friendly & helpful with accurate driving directions. Continental breakfast included cereal, toast, muffins, waffles, eggs & fruit, along with a variety of drinks & juices. The bed in our room was wonderful. The mattress was the most comfortable we've ever had in a hotel. The hotel carpets looked very dirty. 'Staff was pleasant; brought us more towels promptly. Stayed here to avoid Catalina Island hotel prices. Didn't take long to get to the docks, was close to the restaurants that we wanted, and the best was that it was probably the CLEANEST hotel room we've ever been in. This was a good value. The property is located just off of PCH and made getting around Long Beach very easy. We did have a problem getting our room cleaned & new towels, but eventually they got to it.

We were attending a convention at the Convention Center during our stay. The best things about the hotel is that the front desk staff was helpful, rooms were clean and the continental breakfast was great. The location wasn't in the greatest surrounding area with the metro line noise, the auto body shop and the elementary school next door. For the rate […] of the room paid, there was another hotel closer to the Convention Center for the same amount and was in a better surrounding area. This hotel is clean and comfortable, but it is not within walking distance of the downtown area. It is across the steet from a light rail station, but this is not helpful if you are travelling with a pet.. Staff is very friendly and efficient - and parking is adequate. I was attending a conference in the Long Beach Convention Center, and the metro station was conveniently located across street. Comuting was easy. This hotel is just regular, but OK for the price.

the only reason this hotel is a 2 star is because of the neighborhood. it is a nice and clean hotel, just a few blocks from 7/11. It is a great deal for it's price!

The hotel was very nice, breadfast was well stocked, with overflow room, when the main dining area became overcrowded. Public transport is right across the street making it convenient to travel anywhere in Long beach inexpensively. Not best neighborhood, but not the worst either. The transport vehicle was timely and the driver was excellent.

The neighborhood is not the greatest, however, you have access to transport immediately outside the door of the hotel (blue line train). Between the train and bus lines you can get to anywhere you want. Breakfast was more than I expected, rooms were clean, and beds comfortable.

The neighborhood was very dangerous, mini mart at the corner and pizza hut cross the street had bullet proff glass. There were alot of young hoodlums walking around the area at all hours. would not recommend location to any one. Hotel was nice but area, very bad.
