Ibis York Centre - York

Poorly signed car park, room very basic wouldn't want to stay more that one or two nights, poor evening meal (but cost was refunded after complaining). Breakfast good, receptionist good but meal service indifferent. Good value and excellently situated for York centre. Room should have at least one reasonably comfortable chair to sit in.

The hotel itself was in an excellent location although the carpark was very small so we couldnt get a space. There was a particularly good member of staff on reception (didnt get her name unfortunatley), mid 30's with shoulder length brown hair i'd guess, she was very friendly and couldnt do enough to help. Unfortunatly our room was right next door […] to a door to the stairwell that was extremley loud, every time it was opened (every few mins) it slammed shut and shook the room. Fine, much better than the Ibis hotels I use in London for work. Room was clean and pleasant.

The hotel and room were clean and tidy with genuinely friendly helpful staff, our welcome on check in was warm and the information given about local sights informative and accurate. The hotel is outside the city centre meaning a ten or fifteen minute walk to the sights, parking in the car park can be tricky but it is free for guests. Hotel clean and tidy staff very friendly room clean but basic one complaint room very noisy all nite something like a fan unit running out side won't stop their again plenty of good hotels in York

The hotel was what it says, a budget hotel. It was clean, the bed was comfy and all of the staff were happy and helpful. Such a convenient location, so close to the city centre. Managed to get a parking spot okay. Would go again.

You get what you pay for in this hotel. The rooms are nice, and the beds are comfy. I wish that they had cleaned a little more thoroughly, and once during housekeeping, I came back from town and found my door wide open, without anyone returning to the room for minutes. A great budget hotel, we had a double room and didn't bother with breakfast as there are so many options with a Wethaspoons down the road. Good location, small free carpark but managed to get a space which is a bonus in a city. The staff were so helpful and friendly, a real asset in a budget hotel. The hotel is basic but clean enough and bar area is very modern. The distance from city centre was great, only 5 min walk away. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. York hotels can be expensive, and we booked the Ibis because it was one of the few we could find at a reasonable price at short notice. Turned out to be great value, and a fantastic location for the city. The staff were excellent, and the breakfast was great. Very happy with our stay.

no parking and virtually no help from reception to find any.smelt unclean throughout and not one smile from staff all evening.convenient for city centre if you are desperate!

Hotel is in a good location. Nice clean room, Staff are brill nothing is a problem to them, breakfast was well worth it (£5 booked on the day of arrival for the following morning).

The room was tired, dirty carpets, tiles coming away from the wall in the bathroom, heating was provided with a fan heater and a plug in oil filled radiator, corridors had extreme squeaky floors. I would recommend to give this hotel a miss, it kind of ruined our visit to York!

Ibis York hotel is what it is a budget hotel. However the location is great only 5min from the centre and sights it was very clean rooms a little on the small side. Me and my partner booked to stay for 2 nights Friday and Saturday we did check out early evening on the Saturday due to the really really noisy hen party don't get me wrong I've been on […] lots of girly weekends away and I love a good night out but I have never been that disrespectful to other guests these lot kept me awake on the the first night from 2am till 4.30am in the morning then early Saturday evening the banging in the room above while we was getting ready to go out for tea was unreal. We decided to save ourselves from another night of it we checked out and went home a night earlier. The lady on reception did give us our money back for the breakfast and apologised. I think all in all the hotel is nice and it's such a good location it was just bad luck we checked in the same weekend as a load of mad partying hens! Mehr

Skylight in room was broken meaning unable to close properly, street noise prevented us getting any sleep. Staff were very helpful and nice about it. Moved to another room straight away, unfortunately combination of hen dos and loud music from room above meant not much sleep again. Not a a lot you can do about that admittedly. Really great friendly service...nothing was a problem..

An ideal budget hotel in the centre of York. The Ibis is close to restaurants and attractions. The parking is limited, but arrive early and you should be fine. No need for the car after you arrive, as everything is in walking distance, or there's the bus. I would stay again, ideal for a weekend sightseeing trip to York

It was really good time in IBIS/York. I enjoy my time there. Room is really clean. Food is amazing and price is really good. I recommend without hesitation ;)

5 minutes walk to town center, but parking at hotel is limited so arrive early.

Despite a good welcome in clean modern surroundings, once in the corridor of the rooms, we knew what to expect Although a budget hotel, the hoovering of the carpet would have been appreciated and better looking curtains Worst was the other guests who have no respect for others with constant slamming of doors throughout the night

This hotel was in a great location, about a 5 minute walk into York Centre. Staff where really friendly. The room was rather small and the bed was uncomfortable other than this our stay here was good

Friendly staff but everything else rubbish. In the attic, smelt of sewage, rotten window frame, no blinds/curtains.

Very clean staff very polite and friendly. Meals very good. Overall cleanliness of the room and hotel very good. Easy to find very central for all attractions.

A clean room in a pleasant budget hotel, close to the city centre. The bed was hard but the bedroom was otherwise very good. Parking was free and unrestricted. Breakfast was plentiful and of a good standard.

I found this hotel extremely clean and comfortable and the staff I came across in the bar and on reception were extremely pleasant and were very helpful. The location of the hotel was a bit out of the centre of York, perhaps a 15 minute walk but was very convenient for the train station. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

This room has a flat roof - on top of this is the main air conditioning unit...very loud when running. That was after we got into the room. That took two trips to reception...the door lock wasn,t working-does this mean the room is not used a lot?? In fairness to the guy on reception he changed the room straight away when I raised the noise problem. Car […] parking spaces are tight but free. Staff seem very generous...one client was checking out and raised the point the drinks he and his friends had last night were not on his bill.Rather than check or search the bar bills the girl on reception said 'don't worry about it' and charged nothing for them...glad I don't own this hotel / shares in it!!! The front of the hotel and reception area is very nice, a little deceiving as this area is very modern and does not reflect the rest of the hotel. On arriving there was a terrible drain smell in reception, we later found that this was also outside of the hotel and along the street so not sure if there was anything the hotel could do about it. Later […] on that evening the smell had gone. The lift, corridors and room doors are all quite dated, need a little updating but not alot. The room itself was pleasant, the room and bathroom was very clean along with the bedding and towels. The bed was a little hard at first but had no problems sleeping and was comfortable. The TV is dated, there were no batterys in the remote and not all freeview channels were available. The picture quality of the TV wasnt the best. Although there is an option to plug in an MP3/ipod which was handy. The Bathroom was in good condition, shower was powerful and general area was very clean. Only real negatives I would say about the hotel is that it can be quite noisy when other people are leaving their rooms as the doors are heavy and do slam shut. We didnt pay alot for the hotel, so definitely value for money, to sum it up I'd say its a no frills hotel. Dont expect too much but definitely worth staying in if you need a base to wash and sleep. Polite staff, clean hotel & food pleasant. Rooms clean but beds uncomfortable due to thin matresses. We've stayed there twice now & both times been satified with the service, food & staff. If you dont mind a 5 min walk into the city centre, its the perfect place to stay, secure parking & lots of ammenities in the Micklegate area.

Very basic

Room was a liitle tatty and needed a good lick of paint and very basic. The doors banging from other hotel rooms drives you crazy. One good thing is that i liked the location.

Smelly rooms

The York Ibis is close to a Gate and qutie reasonable, albeit a bit minimalist. Still, it was very adequate for our needs and we enjoyed our stay.

Very satisfied with the hotel. Booked for a night out in York - functional and got a good price. Receptionist and manager very helpful when wife realised she'd forgotten her make up - lent some! Would recommend as a basic, clean and convenient place to stay.

We stayed from friday to sunday. The hotel was very welcoming when we arrived, staff were keen to direct us to the best places in town. Room suited all our needs, nice and clean. Air con didnt seem to work but overall very good. Hotel was a 5 minute walk from town.
