Best Western Plus Shelter Cove Lodge - Pismo Beach

Wir waren in diesem Hotel eine Nacht. Für die Durchreise ist es ok - länger würden wir aber nicht bleiben wollen. Toll ist das es am Meer liegt und man draußen Frühstücken kann. Das Frühstück war in ordnung - cool hier der Waffelmaker :-)

Wenn sie nicht gerne von Möven und dem Meeresrauschen am Morgen sanft geweckt werden wollen , sollten Sie nicht in diesem Hotel buchen. Ansonsten kann ich das Hotel nur empfehlen. Sehr schöne und geräume Zimmer in einem kleinen 4 Zimmer Haus. Sauber und gut eingerichtet. Jedoch das Highlight ist der Balkon mit Meersicht. Nach ca. 20 Meter gehts steil […] ins Meer runter. Erwachen und dann auf dem Balkon das Frühstück einnehmen. Was gibt es schöneres? Der Frühstücksraum ist etwas klein, ist eher eine kleine Küche, wo man sich selber bedienen kann. Der Hit waren die Waffeleisen. Coole Sache. Zusammengefasst: Absolute Top Lage und tolles Hotel machten diese (leider nur eine) Uebernachtung zum Erlebniss. Mehr

enjoyed the room but wish the bed was not so hard.

Everything was great. Just not within walking distance to downtown and pier.

The site location on the ocean is georgeous, loved waking up to see the ocean from our room. Room was very spacious, had a balcony and veiw of the ocean - nice! It was very clean, but the bedds were very small and very uncomfortable. We're 50 and it was hard sleeping in one double sized uncomfortable bed. Mattress was terrible. It had two sinks w/ one […] on outside the bathroom which was really nice for a family. Free Breakfast was typical fare - cereal, waffles, yogurt, etc. Mehr

OMG, the quality of the hotel was amazing. I got the Ocean front view option and it was so good. The breakfast quality and variety was fantastic. Also the personel was so professional and friendly. Thin walls, kids..lots of kids and snoring thru thin walls. Great view though. Breakfast is sad w microwave sandwiches and hard boiled eggs.m

The hotel itself was nice, our room had an ocean view and was very comfortable. Our first night was great and our second night was miserable. The people next to us fought with loud voices for hours so as you can imagine we did not get much sleep. This hotel staff seemed in-different which makes me not want to return.

We do not travel much so it we really enjoyed our stay at Shelter Cove. Beautiful room and beautiful view. (you might want to change the VERY low toilets-very hard for seniors and handicapped)

will not stay in any Best Western as we were informed when we arrived at 1 pm that "check in time is 4pm". The gracious hostess did find us a room, so there was on problem this time, but I won't take the risk again of having to wait until 4pm to take possession of my hotel room. When I booked this hotel I thought I was booking the sister hotel just down the road, Shore Cliff Hotel. They are virtually the same in location and amenities. The view of the ocean is always a welcome escape from the city life and the location allows us to walk downtown for breakfast at the cinnamon roll place or go to the All-American Cafe (looks […] like a dive, but great food and a local favorite). This hotel looks like a great place to stay, right on the ocean with a fantastic overlook. The room was bad, it smelled like flatulence (before I got there), seriously. Awful odor. The bed was very uncomfortable, it must have been quite nice in the 70's though. The patio was cramped with 2 chairs and a small table, the sliding door probably slid easily […] sometime in the 80's. The wall unit heat/AC produced a death rattle when cycling on and off which made sleep impossible, I tried to remove the cover and allieviate the banging, clunking sounds to no avail. I left it off and had a nice chilly nights sleep. The view was very nice, however I cannot recommend the accommodations. There are a lot of better choices for equal money within a mile either way. This hotel was very comfortable and clean. The bathroom was very clean and came with Bath & Body Works products! Great view! First time to Pismo beach and had a great time. The hotel has some nice walking trails so you can see the ocean... Good times!!

the room was clean and comfortable. The view was so mesmerizing. sat outside on the little deck with chairs and table and ate out pizza from the local restaurant. I would go back again.

Great sunset view. Walled in pool and hot tub helps. Nothing in facility for food our lounge. Must drive. Lots of breakfast choice included but completely starch carbs except hard boiled egg. Nice view us the deal.

As the title states. I would just say the hotel is meh, okay. The sliding screen door in our room was broken off the track and just laid up against the glass door, somewhat obstructing the view and the room was passing - clean, but definitely nothing great. I did like that we had a coffeemaker and refrigerator in room. The view from our room was absolutely […] spectacular and, judging by the way pretty much every room faces the ocean, I would say that the view is probably great from almost every room. We took two nice, long walks around the walking trail and over to the park next door that sits on the top of the cliff and very much enjoyed the view. Had we known that there was access to a private beach below the hotel, we probably would have planned our time better so that we could have enjoyed that, but as the weather was fairly cool anyway, we just skipped it. Also, the hotel is conveniently close to the Pismo Beach pier and several restaurants. I would stay away from the rooms that face the pool as breakfast is served from a room that opens to the pool area and, starting at 7 am, people are sitting right outside those rooms, eating and talking loudly. If you like to sleep in, I'd avoid those rooms. The ceiling in our room was also very creaky, but we travel with a fan for white noise, so once that was on, we had no problems. As far as the free breakfast goes, it was served in a TINY room and there was a line to get to the waffle maker. Unfortunately, that line also blocked the plates, sliverware, and many other items. It was definitely a light breakfast - cold boiled eggs, waffles, pastries, toast, bagles, cereal and oatmeal, coffee, milk, hot cocoa, and hot tea - which was fine for me. Also, watch out for the seagulls around the pool deck if you opt to eat out there. The view is great, but don't leave your food unattended, or the seagulls will quickly make off with it - as we witnessed several times with the other guests. Wonderful beachside hotel on a cliff overlooking ocean. Beautiful location.

We arrived, checked in and the view of the ocean was amazing. Then we noted full trash cans and old room keys on the counter, bathroom has used soap and shampoo in shower. Spoke to front desk they sent someone to empty trash DID not address if the room was dirty or clean. We were never sure if the room had been cleaned or not. We were blown away by the views and the access to the coast;ine path & beach at Shelter Cove. Seems like all the rooms have ocean views. We'd stay there again if we come to Pismo Beach.

The "ocean view" was not much. seems they really shouldnt call it that. It was a lower level room and you have to carry your suitcases up and down stairs...no elevators. the room also wasnt very clean. Bed squeeky and not comfortable. probably not stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is situated on cliffs overlooking a bay right on Highway 1. You can see Pismo Beach and sea otters are living right off the coast near the hotel. The beach is a walk down a ramp. Not a beach for swimming but great for viewing the ocean. All rooms overlook the ocean. Downtown is a short distance and every convenience […] is close by. Enjoyed my stay, but.... The walls are VERY thin and you can hear normal conversations in the room next door. Also the breakfast in the morning is a bit of a cluster as it is poorly staffed. The first morning they were out of clean dishes and the next morning they were out of silverware. The room where breakfast is served is VERY small which turns into […] an annoyance. the location was great. the views were lovely. the bed skirts & linens were a little dirty. we didn't really engage with the staff, so i can't speak to that. i wish the hot tub was open later than 10p. and the adjoining rooms should have better sound-proofing.....our neighbors were knocking boots and it sounded like they were in our room! other than […] that - it was an easy one night stay. What a fantastic place this is! We booked it for the last leg of our honeymoon, really not knowing what to expect, having stayed at some high-end places prior to that. But what a pleasant surprise. One thing we remarked to each other is how it is very apparent how much pride they take in their facility, as it is very clean and well-maintained. But more […] than that, is the location, the view and the amazing geology in the rocks and beach nearby that is easily accessible by walking. I picked a hotel from hotels.com somewhat near to Pismo Dunes to stay at with my two young kids and wife. The place was nice, clean, comfortable, and in a nice area overlooking the ocean. I had a trailer with quads in the back and they let me park in a place where they normally wouldn't allow people to park. I will definitely stay here next time we […] go to Pismo. Mehr

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was great and the ocean view was very nice.

Last year my husband and I went to this hotel and had a very nice time even in spite of the very heavy fog bank that had decended over the area. Couldn't see the ocean until right in front of the waves! This year a fine time but this time we could see the beautiful ocean and surrounding areas. The only drawback was the warning signs that made us think […] twice about climbing down to the little rocky beach. Did it anyway but many may not want to ignore the warnings. We came into town and stayed at the at the Best Western Shelter Cove to attend the World of Pinot Noir event at The Cliffs Resort. Location was excellent and there was a shuttle providing transportation from our hotel to the event. We enjoyed our stay and had a gorgeous view of the ocean. It close to Del's Restaurant in Shell Beach which I highly recommend […] but also a short jaunt to Pismo Beach if you're in the mood for seafood. We would definitely stay here again in the future. This is not your typical Best Western. Every room has an excellent ocean view. We were even lucky enough to spy some otters swimming around in the morning. Great way to wake up. Other than the view, the room is pretty much what you'd expect for the price. Clean and accommodating but a bit dated. The service was friendly and helpful. We were looking for a window onto the ocean and that is exactly what we found! We had a lower level room but the view could not have been more spectacular.Ocean access was a couple of blocks away and daily we walked to the pier and downtown Pismo. For breakfast there was a wide variety of choices. Our room was very quiet and the bed was very comfortable. […] This is now our place to stay in Pismo. Mehr

I took my wife to the hotel because I had to work in the area and we got there at night and didnt see the view but were impressed with the size and cleanliness of the room. In the morning, we realized what an amazing view we had. All the rooms have beautiful ocean views and each had a balcony where we had dinner a couple of times. There were stairs […] that lead down to a private beach where we were able to take some amazing pictures. Breakfast was decent. Waffles, cereal, and toast. For a free breakfast we were happy. The staff was great. We had a hairdryer that didnt work and in a matter of about 20 minutes, they had come and replaced it with a brand new hairdryer. We definitely will stay there again. Mehr
