The room was in okay condition. Free breakfast was great.

excellent location, poor service to check in at the hotel and the smell of the room was very bad.

This hotel was pretty old and not kept up. My room had a spider, spider web, and 4 moths in it. The sheets were stained and I had to ask for new ones, which apparently was their last set. The room reeked of smoke, even though it was a non-smoking room, and the alarm went off at 12am! There was also NO water pressure when taking a shower. The faucet […] had more water pressure. I had to call maintenance to "fix" the problem, which did not help much, because the faucet ended up leaking all night. The bathtub was very old and the paint was peeling. Even if it may have been cleaned, it did not look like it was. I've stayed in several hotels and at a few Best Westerns. I have never been so disappointed. I will never go back. Ever! Mehr

This hotel was awful... the bathroom window was wide open when we got there, the bathroom looked like a 2 yr old tried remodling it.. the pain in the tub was chipping away i showered with my flip flops on.. the air wouldnt stay on for more than 20 minutes then it seemed like it kicked a breaker and you'd have to reset it.. just a messy nasty filthy […] place. the wi-fi didnt work either. i would not stay here again.. i mean it was a cheap price but i was scared to take my shoes off and put them on that carpet! The stay was enjoyable for the price. Internet didnt work tho, so couldnt do that online homework. Overall service was okay, would stay again for the right price!

The hotel was okay, but the only thing was, there was a party 2 doors down from our room and I could hear people talking loud, slamming doors. Other than that, everything was good.

The room was dirty so was the bathroom. The TV remote did not work. Asked for a change but no response. I stayed at other best western hotels but this was exceptional. The breakfast provided was not very fresh.

Very clean good service..would return.

The first room they gave us was disgraceful: the carpet was filthy, half the enamel was missing off the bath, the security deadlock broken and the safe did not work. Concerning the safe, they told me, "we have a problem with the company". They changed our room, but it still left a very unpleasant feeling. Not at all what I expected from Best West […] ern. Mehr

BEST WESTERN WASN'T TOO BAD EXCEPT THE SHOWER KNOB OR FAUCET IS KINDA OUTDATED SPECIALLY FOR A SENIOR WHO HAS ARTHRITIS IT'S HARD FOR ME TO TURN THE FAUCET, AND THERE WAS NO HAND BAR TO HOLD ON FOR SAFETY REASON WHEN COMING OUT OF THE SHOWER. OTHER THAN THAT, IT WAS OK.

no frills, you get what you pay for hotel. fitness room was "closed" for unknown reasons. adequate for a place to sleep but that's about it. not a great neighborhood but safe walking distance to trolley to go downtown.

smelly, heavily soiled carpet, ants; stains on side tables and desk, gloomy lighting; stiff, yellowed sheets, etc. just to begin. our family of four had the worst night of stay out of 17 nights on our otherwise great spring break road trip.

The hotel was close to trolley and nearby attractions. The cleaning staff was helpful and prompt.

Room is spacious but stinks. Carpet looks so dirty, linens are old and torn, pillows are d worst.

The neighborhood was a bit seedy. Even worse was the complete non-function of the wireless internet. The one day of a four day stay the wireless was atrociously slow, then it wouldn't work at all after that. The shower drained about as fast as the internet worked, and the shower head was mounted at the worst angle, so it sprayed the back wall and splashed […] everywhere until you got in it. Mehr

This was the worst hotel experience that I have ever had in my life. A/C was not working at all that was nobody to fix so I had to move to another room than the TV remote and some of the lights was not working.

At both check in and check out I was greeted and treated well by the staff. However, the rooms floors and chairs were stained extensively and most of the towels in the room had stains, were grimey, and just weren't usable. The bed appeared to be clean - with the exception of the comforter (as usual)- and I only noticed a stray hair that most likely […] came from the cleaning lady as she was making the bed. Stayed three nights and served it's purpose. Close to freeway for easy access to travel throughout San Diego. A good number of eaterys in the area. Bed was a little hard, but overall good room for the price.

I spent three days in San Diego for a family vacation and it suited my needs okay. Pros; The staff was EXTREMELY courteous and helpful. The bed was one of the more comfortable I have slept in. Lots of channels on the TV. Nice microwave and mini-fridge in the room. Extremely close to LOTS of restaurants and access to I-5. Decent continental breakfast. Cons: […] The AC unit was very old. It was missing a knob and I couldn’t read the settings on the control to know what I was turning it to (I know it was San Diego and why would I need the AC, but just getting a setting to circulate the air was hard to find). The broadband was VERY slow. Overall, it was an inexpensive choice and worth what paid. Mehr

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE.....It was dirty...the odor in the room is indescrible. There's something sticky around the surroundings, like everything you touch there's something greasy stuff attached. The bathtub doesn't drain. Overall, the worst experience my family ever had.

I was looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay for a cousin's wedding reception. Best Western in Chula Vista had decent ratings on hotels.com, so I chose to stay there. It's not the Four Seasons, but check-in was smooth and easy, the room was clean,spacious and comfortable and I felt safe there. Plus, it was quiet at night so I got a good night's sleep. I […] didn't get a chance to use the fitness center, but I was surprised they had one. Nice touch. The complimentary breakfast was decent - fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, toast, etc. They also had a waffle maker with a woman there operating it. It only made one at a time so I had to wait about 25-minutes for my waffle and it wasn't very good..the machine had a timer but the waffle still wasn't cooked properly. That is my only gripe - and it really had nothing to do with my overall stay. For coffee drinkers, there was a coffee machine in the room. Also, rather than small bars of soap, they had a soap/lotion dispenser on the wall which is eco-friendly and convenient...because who really uses an entire bar of soap for a one-night stay? I would stay in this hotel again and recommend it to others looking for a comfortable, affordable place to sleep. Mehr

Not a bad place. I would rate it 2 - 3 stars. The first room we got had a plugged bathtub drain and had lots of hair in it from the previous guest. It was gross!!! They gave us another room and it was way better so we were happy. They have a kidney shaped pool and the deepest part was 8' but has no diving board. The free breakfast consisted of pastries, […] fruit juices, fruits, coffee and cereals. It also has a waffle iron setup so you can have hot pancakes with syrup. The parking is free but can be limited if the place fills up. The location is 1 block off the I5 freeway but you couldn't hear it from the property. It was really quiet. Take the E street exit off I5 freeway and you're there. Around the block, I found the following: Metro Transit Station - fare $2.50 or $5.00 for an all day pass Chula Vista Visitor Center next to the trolley station AM PM mini market and gas station. McDonalds Dennys Taco Bell Black Angus Aunt Emma's Pankcake Restaurant There is a self serve car wash with 2 bays for regular cars and 2 bays for large or tall vehicles. The large bays has a step up ramp to wash the tops of tall vehicles. Very good setup. Cost: 5 minutes for $2.50 or $5.00 for 12 minutes. There is a small strip mall across the street. It has a chinese restaurant, a self serve laundromat and a medium sized supermarket among other retailers. I WILL come back here because it's quiet and clean and close to almost everything. Mehr

As explained above, it was impossible to use my key card for entry to my room. A manager had to let me in every time. This was a nuisance situation and restricted my activities in the neighborhood and trips into San Diego. Also, the bathroom in the adjoining room was very noisy when it was used by the guest in that room. The hotel is convenient to […] restaurants and public transportation, which made it easy to travel around the San Diego region. For example, the San Diego Trolley station is one block away--the reason I selected this particular hotel. However, the management must address the problem with the lock (and there may be problems with other locks in the facility as well). Therefore, my recommendation for this hotel is conditional. Mehr

Stayed at Best Westerns before and was very disappointed in the quality. (Maybe because it is in the San Diego area?) The free breakfast was GREAT, (especially the waffles) and the location was 30 seconds from the freeway but I hightly doubt we'd stay again. We had a room right next to the front desk and I'd HIGHLY recommend not staying that close […] unless you come in late. Traffic outside our windown at all hours of the night was distracting and disrespectful. There are two buildings - request the one furthest away from the lobby! Mehr

This was a great hotel for visiting Sea World and the San Diego Zoo. It was only about a 10-minute drive to these locations.

didn't spend much time in the hotel, was out most of the time but it was clean and comfortable and thats pretty much all I asked for

The Best Western name made me think this was going to be a wonderful place to stay. In fact I told my wife to not worry about the other hotel offers and go with this one. Boy was I wrong. The room smelled like sewage, the A/C unit had mold (or remnants of it) in it, and the customer service was poor.

This is a basic, but clean hotel. I was happy with the service & breakfast, and the money I saved :)

room was clean, bed was somewhat comfortable with pillows that were a little hard. internet was really slow, almost unusable, front desk said it was my room, but hotel is really small. There was a free breakfast, don't expect too much, the was an employee making waffles, the machine would only make 1 at a time, and there was a long line, she almost […] would not make we one, after waiting around for about 15 minutes I finally got one. Other than old carpeting, the hotel was a good hotel for the price that was paid. It was very close to the freeway, to stores that were driving distance away. I would stay here again if I were ever in town again.

The guy at the front desk gave me the wrong key at least 3x. Due to all the key switching, another guest was given my same room key about 3 hours later and walked in on me. I was scared to death and absolutely livid. This was my second time staying at this hotel and I am definitely in no hurry to return anytime soon.

hotel is a very old hotel. Carpets was very dirty and dusty Bed was not comfortable Staff was friendly, but she couldn't help much. Initially we were given a room which was dirty and dusty. We asked the staff she showed few different ones. But all of them were dirty. But we choose the less worst one.

I actually enjoyed my stay at the Best Western. Good prices for the rooms as well.

The room overall was what I expected for the price. However, the continental breakfast area is a lot smaller than it should be. The coffee pots did not work and the attendant only offered that we go back to our rooms since we had coffee pots in there. Problem was that we had already turned in our room keys and so we had to go to McDonald's to get c […] offee. Mehr
