Best Western Plus Steeplegate Inn - Davenport, IA

It was very nice. The staff was very helpful, friendly and eager to please. The property seemed clean and in good repair. The free breakfast was actually quite good and ample. Very accomodating staff. Also very quiet. A very good stay. We would definitely stay there again.

This is a nice hotel but it is just a little run down. It could use a renovation to update the atmosphere. It's great for kids because there is a pool, a jacuzzi, video games, pool table, ping pong table and fooseball table. We asked for a pool view room and didn't get one. Also, there was a water leak outside our room which they attempted to fix with […] a wet vac and a fan. The staff was friendly and helpful. The night club was especially nice. We didn't us it, but walked through and it was all brand new and even had a dance floor. There are ups and downs about this hotel, but all and all we had a good stay with our kids. Mehr

The hotel was very nice. It was difficult to locate however, due to minimal signage. I visited with my 2 kids and we had a great time. Pool & pool area was very clean; hot tub was nice also. Food was great! The room could have used a bit more Oust or some deodorizing spray, but other than that the room was nice - even had a fridge & micro so we could […] have some micro popcorn. The room was clean and quiet. Overall set-up of the room was comfortable. Only negative in regards to the room was that there was not an extra blanket in the room. Not necessarily a negative, but there was not an elevator, which just meant a couple trips up the stairs with the baggage. When we checked into the hotel our room was cold. I bumped up the heat and we went to dinner. When we returned 1.5 hrs later the room was still cold. I called the front desk and they told me I needed to turn up the heat just a few degrees every 5 minutes or so. I did this for 30 minutes to no avail. They sent someone from maintenance who felt the warm […] air coming out of the vent said it was working and left. I was cold all night. Mind you, I keep my house at home at 68 in the day and 62 at night and this room was cold to me! That night the fitted sheet did not stay on the bed. In the ,morning I found that the pull for the shower was locked up so you got half shower and half bath. I asked at the front desk for these issues to be addressed. Maintenance did fix the heat but the shower and sheets issues were not addressed. The staff was friendly but the accommodations were not quite what I would expect. The food in the restaurant was good. Our waitress the second night was not so good. We had a large group so she was busy but once she had the orders out we never saw her again. I had to get silverware from another table, drinks were never refilled. As one would expect, the 18% gratuity was automatic. What I did not expect was the tax on the gratuity in addition to the tax on the meal, something I have never seen before. Food tax, gratuity and then tax on the gratuity. Interesting. Our food bill was $21.00 with tax and tip it was $28. 00 35% seems a bit steep! The buffet breakfast was quite good. Scrambled eggs, meat, potatoes, biscuits and gravy as well as lots of toast, bagels and cold cereals. This is a full meal, ready when we were and quite plentiful. this helps make the hotel a good value. The other guests in our group had no complaints with their rooms. They were pleased with all accommodations. Perhaps we simply got a bad room this time. I would stay here again but if I had any problems with the room I would ask to be moved right away rather than have issues fixed. Mehr

We liked everything about this hotel except two things. One was wireless coverage which was virtually non-existent in our room. We called to get it fixed but it was shaky for the whole trip. The other was the pillows. They were roughly the size of throw pillows and I had a difficult time sleeping on them. We stayed in this hotel over a holiday weekend. There was a large birthday party for kids and the kids took up the better part of the pool. The staff seemed afraid to take control of the party that was getting out of hand. On the flip side, the bartender at the bar/restaurant was wonderful.

The room was excellent, the food was very good. The pool was filled with kids. I am glad my room was far away from the pool.

Great buffet breakfast included. Nice pool area, lots of room for families.

The hotel is OK. The indoor pool is fun for the kids but the entire facility reaks of chlorene.

We stopped here for a night when driving cross country on I-80. Very close to the freeway. The room was clean and comfortable. The front desk was polite, and helpful. They have a well appointed lobby, and a nice bar. We even got two free drink on the house upon check in. I will gladly stay here again. (The only negatives might be the not so new hallways […] that gave off hints of cigarrette smoke from the past. None of this in the rooms however.) Mehr

The room wasn't as nice as we expected - we were told the rooms were recently remodeled but ours wasn't. We were also told we'd have a flat screen TV which we didn't - but that is a minor thing. Overall, I was happy.

Just driving thru and needed some place to stay for the night that had a pool and breakfast. Terrible service staff here. Called three times to make sure there was a crib for my child and when i checked in they had no record of my request (what was I suppose to do I they didnt actually have one). They also charged an additional $5.00 fee for the crib […] (the only hotel on my two week trip to do so). When I finally got a pack-and-play is was simply dumped in front of the door for me to assemble. Front desk was over-staffed but could only help one person at a time. No verbal "Thank Yous" from the staff. The pool area was VERY loud. Request a room away from that area. There were no towels at the pool over a 48hr period. The included breakfast was a random mix of items (ie eggs and cereal). The "night club" inside the hotel was empty on a saturday night (three dudes there, no ladies). The hotel has seen better days. Its starting to show, and smell, its age. This hotel is close to the highway, but not near downtown davenport. There are many other hotels in the area.....stay at one of them, not this one. Mehr

I stayed for several nights with my wife and toddler daughter and was pleased overall with the hotel. I had requested a crib for the room and while it had not been left in my room prior to my arrival as promised, it was brought up quickly after checking in. All of my encounters with the staff were friendly and professional. The room and bedding were […] both clean and comfortable. While this is a non-smoking facility and my room smelled fresh and clean, it was obvious that other guests did not feel the restriction applied to the hallways, so be ready for stale cigarette smoke as you bring in your luggage. The internet connectivity speed leaves something to be desired. While adequate for email and basic web browsing, any higher bandwidth uses like VNC or ARD are pretty much impossible to use. Recreationally, streaming Netflix was also unusably slow. The gratis breakfast buffet consists of fairly standard but decent quality morning fare, leaning heavily towards protein. There is a small assortment of fruits and grains, but for those who enjoy mass-quantities of eggs, meat, and potatoes, you're in for a treat. The locals seem to favor the hotel bar and can be quite noisy as they leave, depending on your room's proximity to the exit and/or their lack of direction. Drunken, jovial singing aside, there is otherwise almost absolute silence overnight. For those traveling with young children, be warned that the bathrooms have keyed locking doors instead of safety locks that can be quickly opened from outside. Compared to the other options available in the Quad Cities, the Steeplegate Inn represents one of the higher end establishments in the area and meets a fine balance of comfort and affordability. This was our first stop-over on a drive from Rochester NY to Denver. Clean, comfortable room, affordable restaurant (try the fish fry), inviting pool, open and airy courtyard. I'd stay here again.

They were having maintenance issues at the hotel but the condition of the hotel was excellent. The surrounding neighborhood was NOTHING so convenience of location was poor, but right off the interstate. Great pool and staff.

Hotel pool was clean and unique, the pool area had large lounging space inside. A large community patio located outside with the hotel surrounding the patio for leisure was also unique. The breakfast was an all you can eat buffet at the restaurant attached to the hotel. Older hotel but it is well maintained.

I would have liked a firmer bed.

We visited 2 casino's and the botanical gardens while we were in the area, along with a few other places. Everything was close! the furthest thing away was about 9 miles. Close restaraunts too! The hotel was very clean, the staff was friendly. We had a King room and it was very comfortable!! Would stay again!!
