fine motel, close to turnpike, not far from all kinds of food (up the road 4 miles or so), helpful staff, pretty good breakfast for level of hotel

The town in general smells really bad, but hotel had nice staff & good, clean rooms in a safe-ish area.

My wife and I were very plreasantly surprised what a great value for money the hotel was. Good clean comfortable room with very good staff. It was offseason and weekday night, regardless it was still a great value. No hesitation in recommending.

It's a really good hotel for only being a 1 or 2 stars. Because it's a 1 or 2 star,don't expect much in upscale comfort. If you're looking for a nice, cheap motel, this is it! My wife and I stayed and traveled to Cedar Point Park. It's only about a 15 min drive, and an easy one at that.

My husband and a group of his friends drag race and we needed a place to stay for the weekend that was convenient to the track. This hotel was only 8 miles away. Very nice! It made it easy to come back at night, take a nice hot shower, and was less than 6 miles aways from local restaurants. The hotel was very clean and all of us were very happy with […] it. The only thing I think could improve is the breakfast. There just wasn't a whole lot to choose from. But overall I would definitely consider staying there again next year. It served it's purpose of giving us a nice clean place to stay for a couple nights and was a little more reasonable in price than most places in the area. Mehr

This hotel was exactly as stated. The location was perfect! It's a little bit on the older side so things are wearing out, but it's perfect for a night. The staff was super friendly. The morning breakfast was decent. The waffle maker was worth the few minute wait. If your looking for a place near cedar point but in a better neighborhood this is it. […] We spent the day on rides, stopped and had a good dinner and then went to the hotel. Perfect! Mehr

Great place to stay for the money. Only downside was no wi-fi network and the pool was outside. Breakfast was fine, A/C is cold, hotel is clean, staff is friendly. What else do you want?? Close to Cedar Point, movie theater, Wal-Mart etc.

This motel was not what I thought it would be from the pictures online. Nothing bad..just no amenities.... Bad mattresses, tube tv, no shampoo.. Small things but they add up. Overall not worth the Friday/ Saturday rate.

At check in I had high hopes as the lobby is quite nice for this Super 8. I got my room assignment and went to the room - to find the door propped open with a washcloth and some really loud people running around the hall by it. When I went back to the desk and asked about it, the woman got all huffy and stormed off to the room - she returned and said […] the cleaning crew does that as she blew past me. Even if it's an innocent mistake, a little basic courtesy would have been appreciated. The room was fine (a mostly updated bathroom) BUT - the linens were unacceptable - one bed sheet had HOLES and what appeared to be BLOODSTAINS on it. The bathroom, while updated, was dirty - the counter was covered in someone's hair. There was something (I didn't dare touch it) covered in mold under the dresser. While I've certainly had worse hotel experiences - I was expecting a lot more based on the reviews here. Mehr

The sink needed maintenance in our room - partially clogged. Otherwise, it was your average hotel room - nothing special about it.

This hotel was not bad for the price. The room had double beds and the standard tv; table and chairs. We didn't need the all the extras because it was just a place for us to relax away from Cedar Point. The restaurant was small and comfortable. Really nice waitress. Nice and clean, worried about a previous review we had read but then it ended up being the best place we stayed in 5 nights on a recent vacation! Friendly staff, easy access to restaurants, fun and Cedar Point in nearby Sandusky.

Pros: Get what you pay for Rooms clean but undecorated Close to interstate Good a/c No bad smells Cons: Not as close to cedar point as we hoped (20 mins) Wifi not very strong Fairly small breakfast selection but waffles good

Like another review said "it ain't the Hilton". Room was clean, good water pressure, bathroom was clean. All the basics, but that's all I needed for the night. Breakfast was OK, but again, all I needed. Why pay more..?

Motel 8 in Sandusky, Ohio is just 15 min. from Cedar Point. My family & I were completely satisfied with the Motel. We had no complaints at all. The kids enjoyed the outside Pool because it was so hot. The morning on our way to Cedar Point we enjoyed the Motels Complimentary Breakfast. So before I say anything, we stayed at a super 8, not the Hilton. I knew what to expect, the hotel was fairly clean, front desk receptive and helpful, breakfast buffet was better than most at these types of hotels/motels. We usually stay at Embassy Suites, since there is none in this area, I figured I would save money on room since we would only be […] in for short while to sleep. Room was a little dark, carpet felt a little damp, HOWEVER, room did not smell musty. Air worked great (almost too great- after sunburned weekend, we couldnt take the cold), pretty quiet overall, just typical doors slamming every AM. Did not have problems with other visitors (again- NOT the HILTON- you get what you pay for). Pool was decent, Mcdonalds and Subway very close, only a few miles from Cedar Point/castaway/great wolf/kalahari/port of sandusky and LOTS of shopping and dining options. Beds were fairly comfortable- no bug bites (thank God), maid in room every day, refilling soap/shampoo/towels. Overall, pretty satisfied. Would stay again. Mehr

The price was great, the rooms clean, good location and nice breakfast. Everything we were looking for during our trip to Cedar Point.

We reserved the suite with 2 double beds and it gave our son plenty of room to play with his toys after being couped up in a vehicle all day. It was very nice to have a restaurant onsite and the hotel gives you a 10% discount. Only downfall is our room did not have a fridge or microwave. No guarantee room had one but from other descriptions, the king […] size bed suite had them. Mehr

Very pleased with this hotel. The room was nice and clean, a perfect place to rest after a day at Cedar Point.

The hotel staff was super friendly. Everything else was ok. But it's what to expect for the money. The bed was super comfortable and that's all that mattered!

We stayed here while visiting Cedar Point. It's about 20 minutes from the park - the front desk gave us great directions for a way to the park to avoid a lot of the traffic, which was very helpful. Our room had both an interior and exterior entrance, which at first I wasn't sure I liked, but it worked out great. Very easy to load/unload the car, but […] we could just walk down the hall in the a.m. to breakfast. The pool was closed while we were there, but they had arranged for us to use the indoor pool at the hotel next door. That worked out & we felt safe walking thru the parking lot to use the pool next door. Breakfast was a nice selection - waffles, hard boiled eggs, cereals, breads, etc... Very nice selection for this type of hotel. It's not a brand new hotel, but is still very nice. We had a great time here during out stay at Cedar Point & I would recommend to other travelers. One tip, though -- google maps said this was south of the turnpike, but it is NOT -- it's just a bit north... we ended up on a long detour in the wrong direction before finally calling the hotel for help. Overall it was ok, it was a reasonable price but it is old and definately needs to be remodeled. The pool was not clean.

Just ok here not much to be said room a/c not working properly was tooo cold and couldnt turn it down. Breakfast room stuffy and overcrowded room was not the cleanest but ok i suppose prob would rather spend extra 20 bux or so and stay somewhere nicer.

over all good place to stay

Hotel exceeded expectations. I mean this is a budget hotel so not expecting much. Room was quiet, clean(newer carpet), bed comfortable if you prefer on the firmer side(and no sags!). Pool was fine. Improvements would include a larger bathroom area, software towels, and better sheets. But hey, this is a budget hotel! We stayed while traveling across the country. The non smoking room was very clean, staff was most accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was fine, had waffles, cereal, hardboiled eggs, donuts, and bagels. Would have liked different breads to toast. Outdoor pool small but nice, uncrowded on a Wednesday. I wish I could say something better about this hotel because the staff at the front desk were outstanding. Super helpful. But the rooms were not very good. Our first room stunk like cats had lived in there. We were close to relatives so we tried to stay in that room and even with an air freshener, we couldn't take it. They need to do a serious overhaul […] on these rooms and may find mold there based on the smell. They did move us to a nicer room on the second night but it still had a little bit of a musty smell. First, the staff at this hotel is great, very helpful and attentive. The room was, well, not that great. It was supposed to have 2 double beds with a pull out. The first room they put us in did not have a pull out, but was large enough to accommodate one but smelled of mildew/mold. The second room (After we complained about the lack of a pullout) was […] small and cramped (The pullout was almost impossible to extend next to the bed), not to mention the mildew / moldy smell. Since we had a non-refundable rate, we decided to stick with the second room. The room was reasonably clean, but horribly out of date and just felt cheap. The beds were as hard as a rock. The pool was nothing spectacular, we did not want to swim in it. The breakfast buffet was just "okay", and I found the juices (apple and orange) to be very watered down and the selection of pastries to be dismal. There was a waffle maker if you are willing to wait in line for a waffle. Overall, it was just a place to stay, it could have been worse I guess, but you do get what you pay for. Mehr

We stayed at this hotel because it was close to Cedar Point. The front desk staff were great. When we checked in, the air conditioning in our room wasn't working. We left for Cedar Point (which is only 15 minutes away) and when we came back, it was working fine. The continental breakfast was great. Bed was a little stiff and the pillows could have been a little better, however, @ fiftyish/night in comparison to others in the area, it was a bargain. It was clean. Staff was nice/friendly. If you're looking for a cheap,clean place to crash, this is it. If you want comfort/luxury, go to the Hampton. It was close to restaurants and about 10+/- mins […] to Cedar Point. We booked this hotel because it was close to Cedar Point. It was clean; and our room also had a back door, which was convenient when we were leaving the room. Only 3 miles aways was restaurants, walmart and a target. So you wouldn't have to go out of your way for your visit. Our key wouldn't work one time but the front desk immediately fixed it.

Went to Cedar Point. Hotel in close driving distance. Very clean. Pool was closed, kids disappointed.
