Wir möchten immer ein Zimmer zum Hof haben und nicht eines im angrenzenden Hotelgebäude. Ich habe deshalb schon die teurere Zimmerkategorie gebucht mit 2 Betten. Aber wie letztes Mal 10 Dollar Upgrade gezahlt. Aber dafür super freundlicher Service. Super Preis Leistungsverhälltnis für San Francisco und tolle lage zu Fuß 5-10Minuten zur Fisherman-Warf. Auch parken für 12 Dollar in San Francisco ,es sind es in den meisten anderen Hotels 25-50 Dollar.Jederzeit wieder.

Das Hotel liegt in der Geary St. ein paar Blocks vom Union Square. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im zweiten Stockwerk im Mittelgang, was den großen Vorteil hat, dass man den Straßenlärm nicht mitbekommt, sondern nur den gelegentlichen Lärm den andere Gäste verursachen. Die Zimmer haben nur ein kleines Fenster mit einem wenig schönen Ausblick auf den Innenhof. Das Continental Breakfast besteht aus Kaffee, Toast m. Butter u. Marmelade, O- bzw. Apfelsaft u. einem Stück Obst. Problematisch ist die Parkplatzsituation, da gleich vor der Haustür eine Bushaltestelle ist und ansonsten i.d.R. nur Parkplätze für Kurzparker vorhanden sind. Das Hotel bietet für 30 $ p. Tag einen Valetparkservice an, d.h. es kommt jemand u. parkt das Auto irgendwo, was sehr gut funktioniert hat. Das Hotel liegt zwar in der Nähe des Unionsquare aber auch sehr dicht am Tenderloin Bezirk, den man vor allem Nachts meiden sollte. Insgesamt kann ich das Hotel vom Preis - Leistungsverhältnis weiter empfehlen!

Rund um den Union Square reihen sich die Hauptgeschäfte großer Ketten aneinander und machen den Platz somit zum Spitzenreiter der Einkaufsparadiese an der Westküste. Wer die Grant Avenue und die Bush Street überschreitet, landet in Chinatown. In Nob Hill lassen sich herrschaftliche Häuser aus Zeiten des großen Goldrausches bestaunen. Südlich des Union Square befinden sich in der Nähe des Tagungszentrums das San Francisco Museum of Modern Art und das Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Wie schon oben geschrieben, war das Hotel sehr schön ausgestattet, das Personal sehr freundlich und die Lage ist auch sehr gut. Das Frühstück war ebenfalls gut und es gab nachmittags ab 17 Uhr Wein und einige Snacks dazu! Wir würden jederzeit wieder in das Hotel gehen!!

"bestes Hotel der Reise"
sehr schönes komfortables gut gelegenes Hotel, gemütliche Zimmerausstattung (mit funktionierendem Kamin!), alles mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet zum wohlfühlen. Sehr gutes Frühstück inklusive! Und abends gibt es kostenlos einen (oder zwei) Wein mit Gebäck im großzügigen Kaminzimmer. Super-Hotel, absolute Empfehlung!

"Good value & Location in SFO"
We made a long weekend trip to SFO to celebrate our 25th anniversary and wanted a nice hotel in a good location(Union Sq) for walking to restaurants, etc. that wouldn't brake the bank. White Swan Inn was perfect for us. I saw similar rates at "fancier" hotels in the area, but they didn't include the very nice breakfast or wine and snacks in the afternoon […] the White Swan does. The room was very comfortable with a small sofa and wing back chair and the gas fireplace is a nice touch. The bathroom was a bit on the small size and good use a bit more counter space for toiletries. I'd also like to suggest that the hotel invest in a bit better quality towels, some were a bit worn, but adequate. The closet is a decent size and there was a nice dresser in the room as well. They do not have in room safes, but you can check valuable at the front desk safes. The hotel has only 26 rooms, a tiny but really cool old elevator and marvelous creaky floors. If you want modern, don't go here. If you want quaint, comfort, charm and character then I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed. Mehr

"Great hotel if you like chintz. . ."
Let me start off by saying that after spending several nights at the White Swan Inn, I would not hesitate staying there again. But I wasn't certain when I arrived that I would feel that way. I think the other reviews accurately characterize the small inn quality of the hotel, but I just wasn't ready for the English country floral and chintz decor! I […] tend to like things more streamlined--cozy, but not cluttered. We had a great room on the top floor at the back of the hotel, and it was incredibly quiet and big. The fireplace was a nice touch, particularly because it was really cold while we were in San Francisco. We didn't have breakfast there, but we did go down for "happy hour" and snacks, and that was nice. I think our favorite part of the hotel was the library room on the first floor with cushy chairs and a fireplace. My daughter hung out there and did her homework--it was really conducive to reading. The staff was all excellent. We had a problem with our toilet the first night, and it was promptly remedied. The location is very good (between Union Square and Chinatown), but up a bit of a hill. We found several great restaurants close by, and the neighborhood is perfectly safe with good access to public transportation. If you prefer a small, more personal hotel and you don't mind a country atmosphere, this is an excellent option for reasonably priced lodging. Mehr

Stay at this hotel when in San Francisco. It is conveniently located near Union Square, but a bit of a walk from the Convention Center. The staff is very friendly and helpful; they even offered me advice on which areas to see, which to stay away from, and a quick rundown of the city's transportation options. The rooms are very comfortable and beautifully […] designed in the English country tradition. I did not have any issues with bed bugs. The breakfast is most excellent. Do no miss your opportunity to enjoy it during your stay. The complimentary wifi is a great perk, but I did have problems logging on to it on a couple of occasions. My only complaint is that I wish my room was better lit. Other than this, I will make it a point to stay at the White Swan Inn next time I visit San Francisco. Mehr

We arrived late at night and the guy on reception could not have been more helpful of funny. We had come from a different time zone we actually arrived before we had left. "White Swan Inn-an ugly duckling that didn't morph."
We decided to splash out a few extra dollars on a nice 'Boutique' Hotel to treat ourselves on the last leg of a round trip in California & Nevada. What a disappointment. The bed was uncomfortable and creaked whenever you moved. The place had an abundance of faux 'English' crockery and artifacts masquerading as the real deal and lots of tacky wallpaper […] & etc. The front desk staff was staffed by students (on the whole pleasant) who tried hard but must be seen in the context of what they are there to do. Wine and snacks were available (self serve) at 5 to 6 pm and that was generally good but not special. Breakfast, the only meal, was a barely acceptable buffet and we couldn't even get eggs to order. Breakfast staff were efficient but impersonal. You know when food is prepared with care and commitment and maybe a pinch of love? well you don't look for it. It's easy to point the finger as to who or what is wrong but it appeared to us that a little more managing was necessary and less cost cutting in favour of the bottom line. The White Swan is a quaint older property near Nob Hill. When I arrived, I had to wait 20 minutes to get into my room- the door into the hotel is locked at night, and the front desk clerk was away from the front desk. The hotel room smelled bad. The bed was comfortable. The price was reasonable, and overall a decent value.

Lovely little boutique hotel in a great area. Staff were happy and helpful. Breakfast included was healthy and most adequate. Thoughtful touches such as bottled water, cookies at 3pm and free drinks from 5.00 - 6.30 were much appreciated and made it a home away from home. Thankyou, would definately stay again.

/this was such a pleasant experience. On the edge of the questionable area but did not feel threatened. Had such a great time. The staff is so pleasant and helpful. We were so surprised when we came down for breakfast. Where did all of these prople come from? It was so quiet there we didn't realize how many were staying there. Very nice breakfast !

The hotel was very cute and quaint. It is older and the floors and beds are creaky, but that is part of the charm. It was really nice having breakfast right at the hotel and the snacks in the afternoon where good also. Free drinks in the room refrigerator was another bonus. The only complaint I had was they do not have a separate concierge and there […] were people staying at the hotel who were using the desk staff to book trips and make phone calls. This caused a back up when I was trying to check out and I had rush to catch a boat I already had booked that day. They were very nice about it and gave me a Teddy Bear to make up for my distress. A lovely hotel with friendly helpful staff. We stayed in a great room with our small child and were made perfectly confortable. A crib was provided instantly and set up for us. Both ourselves and our child were offered a warm welcome and useful information throughout our short but pleasant stay in San Francisco. Close to the Union Square area and transport […] services down to the wharf, so well situated. Lovely wine reception in the lounge in the evenings made for a plaesant atmosphere to meet new people and have a relaxed chat. The only slight difficulty we had was that none of the restaurants suggested as hotel favourites on their list were really baby friendly but the inhouse breakfast buffet and service was. Wonderful small hotel with excellent service, tasty breakfast, nice sized, comfortable room. central location between Nob Hill and Union Square. Our stay was 6 days so bought a city pass so could ride any bus, trolley, cable car in between lots of walking. was great to have in hand when the hills got to be too much! We loved the rickety old elevator […] and the fire in the fireplace in our room. Did not feel guilty enjoying the delicious cookies always in the jar because we walked so much! "Great location for walking the City"
We loved this hotel from the moment we walked in. We arrived early, and while we could not check in, they accepted our luggage and parked our car so we could enjoy a walk. Within a few blocks we were in Chinatown, and a few more blocks put us in North Beach. Ok, it ended up being a bit of an uphill hike all the way back, and the unexpected summer downpour […] didn't help, but we love walking in a city like this so it didn't matter much. The Canle Car Museum (free) was a good spot to duck out of the rain, and the cable cars themselves are also nearby on Hyde. The hotel is also a few short blocks from Union Square and the SOMA (museum & shopping) area. Back to the hotel. The evening wine reception was pleasant, with a nicely decorated room to explore. We met a family from England here so I guess it's English inn decor is legitimate. I will note that the breakfast disappointed--mushy oatmeal, unexciting eggs (kind of an egg "loaf"-- very bland), country potatoes with peppers that were underdone. Other than that, though, we very much relaxed and enjoyed our stay and wish we had the time to stay longer. Mehr

"What a find!"
This hotel is a gem in the showcase of San francisisco. The attention to detail was great, specifically the complimentary evening wine and goodies, attended by most guests, and the complimentary water and soda in the fridge. No $5.00 if you open me signs!!!
The White Swan is a lovely place and we would stay there again. Our room was comfortable and spacious. The fireplace was a nice touch. Our windows looked out on a sort of air-shaft. "White Swan Inn - Wonderful "home" base!"
The White Swan is a wonderful place to call "home" for a few days. The lobby doesn't begin to do the rest of the hotel justice but, just downstairs where the nightly wine reception and complementary breakfasts are served, is a series of cozy, fire-lit rooms as well as an outdoor, garden patio. The wine reception was a great place to meet other guests […] and unwind after a day of sightseeing. Wine and cheese, nibbles and desserts provided for free. My room was spacious with a wet bar and complementary water, sodas and coffee. There was also a window seat, fireplace and a library of books. The bed was very comfortable too. The wallpaper around the hotel is a bit much but also added to the English charm. Would definitely stay again. Mehr
Exceptional value and service with ideal location for Union Square, Nob Hill, and surrounding areas (2 blocks to Powell / Hyde and Powell / Market trolley line). Very romantic but do not expect a huge bathroom (shower does have room for two!). Will definitely stay here again.
"A little slice of paradise"
I can not sing the praises enough for this lovely hotel. It's more of a B&B than a hotel. The rooms are cozy and clean. The fireplace is a very nice touch. Separate dressing room w/ an additional sink and hair dryer is very convenient for 2 to get ready at once. Our room, 32, was on the street but, the noise was never an issue w/ the windows closed. […] I think the decor a fitting match for the ambiance of this little gem. Our friends who stayed at one of the upscale hotels by the convention center were jealous of our accommodations compared to theirs. There is a cute little coffee/breakfast/ library area down stairs where the wine reception takes place as well. The elevator is very retro and very cool, Though facility is small enough to comfortably walk the stairs. The staff was extremely helpful, knowledgeable of the area and courteous. Awesome complimentary cookies and gourmet coffee. There is a cool little lounge about block away w/ happy hour 3- 8pm 7 days a week. (the reason why we missed the wine reception both nights) We were sad to leave and will plan a much longer stay the next time that we are in the city. Mehr

The staff was extremely helpful even prior our arrival. My wife called several times because of our late flight. We barely made the BART, and missed the last cable car. They advised against the 8 block walk and directed us to the most likely place to catch a cab, only a short $5 fare. After staying the first night, a family emergency came up and we […] needed to check out 2 days early. The staff at White Swan and Hotels.com not only refunded the rooms, but rebooked us for Saturday night, at the weekday rate when we returned to S.F. after taking care of our emergency. All of this with unbelievable grace. Hotel itself is historical, clean and charm abounds. Rooms are older, TVs brand new flat screen. Internet fairly fast wireless. In room dorm type fridge with complimentary water and sodas. Rooms can be stuffy, no AC, but open window was still very quite, cool breeze and box fan in the room. The beds and pillows are very, very comfortable. Breakfast and evening wine and cheese good. Wonderful chance to strike up conversation with the most eclectic fellow guests, not the usual curt, even rude encounters typical of guests at large hotels. Locale is excellent, very close to Geary, Chinatown, Wharf, all within walking distance, but your calves may burn. Pros: Staff, comfort, charm, B'fast, evening snack, in room drinks, fellow guests. "Nice for romance, not for business"
White Swan Inn has a bed and breakfast feel - there's always warm drinks and a snack when you return at night, my room had a fireplace and four-poster bed and was good sized. It would have been delightful for a romantic weekend with my bride. That said, I was visiting for business and I'd not recommend it for such. The room was darker than I'd have […] liked, had no desk, nor did it have adequate outlets for the electronics a business person invariably seems to bring. "White Swan Inn San Francisco - great experience"
This is a great hotel. I usually don't like smaller, older hotels and prefer the big chains where I can be more anonymous, but the White Swan Inn was excellent. I stayed with my wife for two nights and had a great time. The hotel is older and the walls are thin (you could hear the upstairs neighbor pacing the floor), but other than that I can't recommend […] it highly enough. The room was huge with a fireplace. The wine tasting was nice and the breakfast was very, very good. The staff was super friendly and helpful, but not intrusive. Great location. The bathroom amenities are old, but everything was clean so no complaints there. The White Swan is a very charming hotel and I will definitely be returning. It really made our San Francisco experience that much better. Mehr

"Quaint and Convenient"
The location is very convenient to Union Square and to the meeting I was attending on Nob Hill. The hotel is small, very quaint, quite comfortable. The staff is pleasant and cooperative. They hailed me a cab on a very busy Saturday night when cabs were about as scarce as hen's teeth.
