Erguvan - Special Class - Istanbul

Das Hotel liegt in Sultanahmed fussläufig von den Sehenswürdigkeiten der Altstadt entfernt. Sehr vieles ist zu Fuss zu erreichen. Wer die Bahn (T1) nutzen will, erreicht diese nach ca. 5 Minuten. Wir haben die T1 nur wenig genutzt, da man bei Spaziergängen wesentlich mehr sieht. Unser Zimmer war von der Größe für eine 4-tägige Städtereise vollkommen […] in Ordnung und war ebenso wie das Bad absolut sauber. Reinigung erfolgte täglich. Bei unserem Aufenthalt im Februar lagen die Temparaturen leider nicht deutlich über 0°C. Das Zimmer ist über die Klima beheizbar, was hervorragend funktionierte. Das Frühstück wurde im Dachgeschoss angeboten (Dachterasse Temparaturbedingt leider nicht nutzbar) und war aus unserer Sicht landestypisch gut und reichhaltig. Besonders freundlich war das englischsprechende Personal am Empfang. Wir können das Hotel aufgrund der Lage, Sauberkeit und Freundlichkeit des Personals uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Mehr

Das Hotel liegt in der Altstadt in einer kleinen Strasse, die kein Taxifahrer kennt. Leider sind die Zimmer sehr klein und das Bad ebenso. Der Service ist relativ freundlich, jedoch bevorzuge ich größere und professionellere Hotels als dieses kleine Boutique Hotel in der Altstadt von Istanbul.

Hotel liegt optimal für Besichtigungen von Istanbul. Saubere und schöne Zimmer, freundliches Personal.

Insgesamt durchaus positiver Eindruck. Herrliche Dachterrasse mit Blick auf den Bosporus und Blaue Moschee. Gute Lage, wenn auch ein wenig laut. Die Höflichkeit des Herrn an der Reception bei der Abreise ließ allerdings sehr zu wünschen übrig. Bei der Benutzung eines Taxis sollte man aufpassen, dass man nicht "übers Ohr gehauen" wird.

freundliche und hilfsbereite Hotelcrew. Zimmer sehr sauber und bequem eingerichtet. Top lage : in ein paar Gehmin.mitten der bekannten Sehenswürdigkeiten. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist beeindruckend. Sehr gutes Preis Leistung Verhältnis. Auf jeden Fall sehr zu empfehlen.

Sehr zentrale Lage,sauber, nette Dachterasse und ansprechende Räume; freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal. Wird etwas laut,wenn es zum Gebet gerufen wird.

Mein Mann, der selber in Istanbul (allerdings im asiatischen Teil) lebt und ich haben 4 Nächte im Hotel Erguvan verbracht. Obwohl ich schon einige Male in Istanbul war, hatten wir nie richtig Zeit die fast schon obligatorischen Sehenswürdigkeiten zu besuchen. Dies wollten und haben wir mit dem 5-tägigen Aufenthalt in Istanbul nachgeholt. Das Hotel […] liegt sehr zentral zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Anfahrt vom Flughafen mit ÖV ist nicht ganz einfach, aber machbar. Ich würde allerdings für unerfahrene Istanbul-Besucher ein Taxi empfehlen (kostet kein Vermögen und ist einfacher). Beim Hotel angekommen wurden wir freundlich empfangen. Die Reception ist 24 Stunden am Tag besetzt. Das Hotel liegt sehr ruhig in einer Seitenstrasse. Den Strassennahmen kennen die meisten Einheimischen nicht, daher empfiehlt es sich, sich den Heimweg von einem markanten Punkt (z.B. Ägyptische Säulen) einzuprägen. Hat man die ägyptischen Säulen vor der blauen Mosche gefunden, können sich die müden Füsse (welche man ohne Zweifel nach einem Tag in Istanbul hat) auf das in Kürze erreichte Hotel freuen. Wir bezogen ein hübsches, wenn auch eher kleines Zimmer. Der einzige wirkliche Minuspunkt bekommt das Zimmer für den schwachen Haarföhn. Ich habe sehr dichtes und sehr langes Haar und wurde mit dem Hotelföhn einfach nicht fertig mit trocknen. Die Aussicht aus unserem Zimmer im 2. Stock war eher mässig, jedoch ist die Aussicht von der Dachterrasse wirklich sehr schön. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist gut, jedoch empfehle ich jedem Istanbul-Besucher auch einmal ausserhalb ein "richtig" türkisches Frühstück zu geniessen. Die ganze Altstadt kann bequem zu Fuss erforscht werden. Es lohnt sich immer auch mal einen Abstecher in eine kleine Seitengasse oder durch ein Tor zu machen. Manchmal verstecken sich echte Perlen in den Innenhöfen. Nargile- (Wasserpfeifen) und Teehäuser, kleine Kneipen und viele sehenswerte Orte sind nicht auf den ersten Blick zu erkennen. Vom üppigen Frühstücksbuffet waren wir positiv überrascht; die zentrale Lage ist ein grosser Vorteil wenn man zu Fuss unterwegs ist; den guten Gesamteindruck hat die schlechte Schallisolation etwas eingetrübt.

A clean and reasonable priced accommodation in close location to the Blue Mosque and other interesting sites in the old part of Istanbul called Sultanahmet. A better internet service would give this accommodation a higher rating for this business traveller. The breakfast room on the top floor provides a nice view to the ships anchored outside the Bosphorus […] and a wide view of part of the Sultanahmet part of Istanbul. Mehr

Wevstayed for one night in April. Room was fine but he temperature could not be adjusted. Opening the windows let the street noise in. Not a windflower sleep.

Excellent location and friendly staff.

We had booked a triple room in the hotel for 4 nights. First night we were asked to move into a double and single room as they did not have a triple room available though we had booked it a month in advance. Then when we moved to triple room, there was no wireless in that room and different staff members kept us giving different reasons. Breakfast was […] pretty ordinary. Only saving grace for the hotel is location but I am sure there would be better alternatives available in the same location. Rooms were clean but given the price they charged, that's expected and certainly not enough to rate it high. Mehr

Good location, can walk to the sights. Great view of the Blue Mosque from the terrace. Nice breakfast on the terrace.

This hotel was in a great location in Sultanhamet area to walk to all the major sites -- and easy to get to the tram to travel to other parts of the city. It was clean and the people were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent.

great htl for an extended weekend trip. Close to down town, touristic attractions etc. Small room but clean and equipped with the necessities. NIce staff and the breakfast is OK. We can recommend this hotel for a short visit.

Great location ... and excellent staff -- exactly what I was looking for. Manager on duty was extremely helpful ... told me about Salat times (checked on-line to get the correct one); gave me room even though check-in time was much later; adn helped me with the directions to get to Blue Mosque and other sight-seeing in that area. It made my 1-day trip […] a memorable one! Mehr

clean, well maintained, excellent friendly staff

All staff was extremely helpful but Mr. Eyup was exceptionally so. They booked tours for us who were very professional and responsible in their dealings.

This was a very a charming hotel and what could easily be considered boutique level in the United States and Canada. The downside was that being this is an Islamic country (however secular Istanbul is) the Mosque blares the morning waking up prayer over loud speakers early in the morning. Western travellers especially may find this as unnecessary noise […] pollution unconducive to sleep. The breakfast was alright having a good Mediterreanean selection of foods. In this case it was above and beyond the plastic pastries we call a Continental Breakfast in the States. Location wise the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia are almost right on top of you. This is coupled with a selection of many Kebob houses and street merchants dotting the Tram station area and street. Overall book this room and enjoy the 3-5 minute walk to to the tram that will get you to downtown. I doubt you will regret it. Mehr

Great Location in Sultanhamet. Great breakfast with a view of Blue Mosque and Marmara Sea at breakfast. Good english speaking staff too.

Very nice and convenient hotel

Hotel very close to main attractions. Staff very helpful.

Everything was perfect.

We spent 5 nights at the Erguvan and were delighted as soon as we walked in the door. The rooms were clean and tastefully decorated, the hotel staff bent over backwards to be helpful and the room, lobby, and restaurant were clean and well kept. The property is so convenient for seeing the major sights in Istanbul, only a few minute walk from 'The Blue […] Mosque', 'Hagia Sofia', and the hippodrome. The only complaint I have is that the sound within the hotel carries and at times was a little noisy. I would recommend it to anyone Mehr

Great location walking distance to all interesting sights,(and walking is the best way to get around Istanbul) simple rooms,modern bath,very clean. hotel staff was incredible..so helpful. arranged tours, cars, and reservations. Just delightful stay.

The staff are good and helpful. We only ate at hotel once but was excellent.

Eleven us stayed there It was fantastic considering price and location. So very accomodating Would definatel do it again. well worth the $$$$$

Spent two nights at this nice little hotel located in the very heart of Istanbul's old city. We arrived early in the morning and although our room wasn't ready we were escorted to the top floor breakfast room for a meal. The view was stunning! When we returned half an hour after the room was supposed to be ready, we were told that the cleaning personnel […] weren't done. While waiting we were given free drinks and snacks. The location is perfect for exploring the older parts of the city. Although the hotel is situated in a part of the city that is full of tourists, there is not much traffic, so one gets to sleep in relative calm. Istanbul is a huge city, but we had no problems getting around as the public transport system works better than in most European cities. This four star hotel is great value for money and is highly recommended. Mehr

Very conveniently located in Sultanahmet. A very nice boutique hotel with very helpful and pleasant reception staff. Breakfast a little below par for westerners.

This is more a pension or a "boutique" hotel, rather than a four and a half star hotel. Our room was comfortable and very clean. The location in the Old Town was quite good, except it was an uphill hike, on cobblestone streets, to get to all the places we wanted to go. We certainly felt safe walking around there. The Erguvan Hotel has it all....an excellent location, very reasonable rates, great free breakfast and very helpful and friendly staff. Oh yes, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and quiet. Great service and very close to Hagia Sophia and other tourist attractions. The hotel was clean and quiet. We used one room with 2 beds and one with 3 beds. The room with 2 beds was cosier and had a much nicer view over the city. I can really recommend this hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Erguvan. The staff was just as friendly and helpful as previous posts had led me to believe and the hotel was quite comfortable and extremely well located in the historic section of Istanbul.

We stayed in the Hotel Erguvan on our trip to Istanbul, and the location could not have been better. We were a 5-minute walk from the Blue Mosque, 7 minutes from the Sultanahmet tram station (our route in from the airport), 10 minutes from the Hagia Sophia and the Basilica Cistern. The hotel itself was nice and new. The front desk staff was incredibly […] patient and helpful in mapping out our trip, complete with restaurant recommendations and other suggestions. The hotel offers a free, rooftop terrace breakfast buffet; the food is just ok, but the view is a great way to start the day. This was my first time in Istanbul, so I cannot compare this hotel to others in the city. However, if I were to give it a star rating based on Western standards, this hotel will have a hard time making it to a two star level. The four star rating (and the price that goes with it) is highly exaggerated. Although the bedding was comfortable, but the bathroom […] in the "standard double" room is very small. There is no bathtub and the shower area is the size of a laundry sink. Breakfast is served on the patio, but the pictures are highly exaggerated and the quality and quantity of the food available is a joke. I would not stay there again. Mehr

This is a great little hotel, located in the sultanahmet area of Istanbul. It has old world charm but with lots of conveniences. The hotel is reasonably priced and the staff was very helpful. I would recommend this hotel highly.

I would highly recommend this hotel to any guest traveling to Istanbul. The location is fantastic- 5 mins walking to all the attractions yet quietly peaceful. The staff was pleasant and incredibly hospitable allowing me to check in early offering coffee and cakes since I just missed breakfast. The room was well appointed, clean and comfortable.
