Sidney James Mountain Lodge - Gatlinburg

The room was acceptable; however the tv and alarm clock did not work. Aside from that I enjoyed my stay. The hotels night desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. The hotel location was great. it was close enough to walk to everything and far enough away to avoid large crowds

It was the greatest ever!!!!..They are absolutely the sweetest people!!..They made our stay and our wedding weekend perfect!!!

It was what we expected

Really like the location and convenience to downtown Gatlinburg. Really like the front desk staff and their courtesy. The rooms are just decent for a over night stay, nothing much of a quality, but just decent and comfortable. Room is clean and has basic amenities. relaxing and quiet just what we were looking for .Loved the sound of the creek from our room,location was great for us it wasnt back to back people ,which we enjoyed very much. loved it

it was magical and worry free

rom was great staff was friendly. kids loved the indoor pool and hot tub. all was great.

We stayed courtside and I would not recommend staying here. I'm not sure what the rooms across the street looked like but our room was very old, dirty, stains on the ceiling where the roof had leaked, bathroom light in the shower did not have a cover, bad outlet with wires exposed. The single queen bed room was looked cleaned but smelled funny . It is a non smoking and pet free room, so I don't know what the smell was. The decor was outdated, The AC/Heater blows the curtains open, the pillows were flat and only 2 were provided, the blanket was fuzzy and needed replacing. The man at the check in desk seemed very nice, the location […] to Smoky Mountain National Park was convenient with walking distance to the shopping attractions on the strip, parking was great for a busy Easter weekend, there is an indoor and outdoor pool (the outdoor pool had a film on top, but it was cold and we couldn't use it anyways) and there is a stream in the back that's nice to sit an relax to. This hotel is old but clean. Too far to walk to Parkway also. Pool area is nice. Continental breakfast would have been great, but n/a. Basically, u get what u pay for in this case.

we could not get into room till after 4:00pm because they were still cleaning other rooms.the the view from the balcony was a close down motel that looked like a old crack house very rough looking people walking around all the time must be motel workers they were there every day bathroom tub had mold around it we cleaned it ourself room smelled bad.if […] we were not only staying 2 days and other motels had any rooms left i would have asked for my money back. i repete do not stay here it is to far from down town and it will cost you $8.00 a day to park close to down town. This hotel had an excellent in house resturant we used for breakfast & dinner multiple times, great access to main strip, park, and surrounding resturants. The creekside room was magnificent!

The hotel was a little out of date, but it was okay for the price we paid. We brought our dog, so I think we stayed in the "older" section of the hotel. The pool was great and our children had a blast. For the amount of time we spent in the hotel room, we would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here hoping it would be more in the woods and clean. The floor was flithy, feet turned black. My nephews enjoyed the indoor pool. The staff was friendly but I seriously doubt I would stay here again. I wanted a view like mentioned on the site and there was no view from my room except the parking lot.

We arrived on a sunday night to smiling faces. The lodge has a great Indoor pool and outdoor pool. The rooms are very spacious with everything you need to relax. It"s also located very close to all attractions. House cleaning daily, and poolside cafe. My family and I had an amazing vacation thanks to Sidney James Lodge.

I have never found front desk staff to be so rude. I got the impression they would rather be anywhere except at the front desk serving the public. Hospitality management is about making the public welcome. If I had not already had a reservation and it paid in full I would have gone somewhere else. i hope this is only a reflection of that particular […] shift, but even that should never happen. I will "NEVER" use this motel again. I had a no smoking room but found that heavy smokers were placed in rooms just below us making the room stay unbearable at times. I paid extra to have a room in the back near the stream to have fresh air and the sound of the stream during our stay. The smoke below us made that impossible. When I made the reservations more than 30 days before our date of arrival for a handicap room on the first floor I was not told or later notified this was not available. I would not recommend this hotel at all! Seemed clean as far as the room basic cleaning goes.The wallpaper was coming off the walls and the bathroom door knob was about to fall off. Their was no lock on the balcony door and the overall room was cheap put together. The best part about the hotel was the indoor pool.

Beds was my biggest complaint; not comfortable at all!! But can't ask much for the cheap price.

The Sidney James Mountain Lodge was very convenient to downtown Gatlinburg. It is pet friendly and that was a huge benefit to my granddaughter who could bring her little dog along! We would stay again.

We drove up from Knoxville for an little overnight get away. The hotel was older, but pleasant enough.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The only things we didn't like is that its about a half mile from the strip and the walk back can be tiring. We had a creek side room which was nice however there is an abandoned motel right across the creek which is an eye sore. The pool is great, the staff is friendly, so overall its really nice. The hotel was pet friendly. We thought that was a big plus. When we entered the room it was very simple and threw together which was still ok. The bed was like a rock but when I went to the restroom and the tub was not clean at all and stain in the tub we packed up and left. We will not return here.

We stayed in Gatlinburg for a weekend and I got a really good deal on this room. The hotel is several blocks from the "strip" it is walking distance but i did not desire to make the walk. The hotel was very outdated and their were some tears in the furniture but for what we paid it was worth it the room was overall comfortable. The indoor pool was awesome […] the kids really enjoyed it. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. We would def stay again. Mehr

The indoor pool has a small cave with beautiful surroundings. The staff was AMAZING! Location was close to everything without the crowded streets. We were very satisfied with our stay.

We planned a family of ten (10) trip to Gatlinburg right after my grandfather passed away to get my grandmother out of the house. We wanted somewhere to stay that was affordable and nice for everyone but at the same time had a comfortable appeal as well. The Sidney James Mountain Lodge was definitely the place. I will agree that yes it was out dated […] and yes the rooms were small and tight but it wasn't like we planned on spending a lot of time in our rooms anyway and they were cozy with the river running right behind the place. We had the river view right off of our balcony. Overall the place was great for our family! Mehr

We only stayed at Sydney James for one night, but it was worth our stay. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. The pool was AMAZING! My kids LOVED it! Me too! I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone with children. The rooms were clean, and bug free. I loved seeing the creek outside our room. This was far from the best hotel experience for us. The first room we were given, the door was standing open, lights and TV on and trash in the floor. Then we were given a second room, which we were told was much nicer. The condition of the room and quality of furniture was decent, but definitely needs updating, and paint. The room was clean. There […] was a horrible view from our very small, standing room only, balcony, of an old abandoned hotel. I was very unsatisfied with how clean the covers on the beds was. You could see dirty spots on the quilts like they never get washed, also smelled like other people. Also there was holes n the bathroom at the shower. And worse of all the Sauna was completely gross, trash all n it and n the floors and the wood felt rotted like you would fall through. […] Only positive thing was the staff was really nice at the front desk! We go to Gatlinburg often since were only a few hours away and its an easy getaway. We stay at different hotels often, usually for price. Sydney James fit the price this time. - it was a little off the main strip, still walkable, just farther up the hill than we like. -the rooms were "clean" though a fresh coat of paint and a good scrubbing wouldn't […] hurt. -the back door over looking the creek was nice, it didnt lock, only a stick. and the empty abandoned hotel behind everything was kinda on the creepy side. -the beds were hard as a rock. -the indoor pool was nice. loud with the waterfall, scared my son some, but overall nice. -parking was tight and packed, being in the last room all the way around back and having to park in a parking garage around front, sucked. Overall the place wasnt "bad" but we probably wont be staying again. In need of updating and comfort. Mehr

The pictures are overrated. When we got there we checked in and when I went in the room there were ants all in the bathroom after complaining they give us a different room so we go in and it was two twin beds so I went back and told them I was not sleeping in a separate bed than my husband so they gave us a different room again...the whole trying to […] keep my cool because the guy that was helping us (if you call it that) was very rude and even throw the last set of keys on the counter...needless to say we will NEVER be back and will never recommend it to anyone unless they would like to share their room with ants and trash...oh and they don't tell u that if u are in certain rooms than you can kick people out of the pool area so you can have it to yourself because if we knew about that we would have paid extra money so we could complain and get to kick people out and enjoy the pool area to ourselves. DON'T EVER STAY HERE WASTE OF YOUR MONEY!!!!!! Mehr

The rooms at Sydney mountain lodge are within no comparison of the pictures on their website! We were unaware that we were staying in a separate place than the actual hotel, we had to drive to the pool, and there are no irons in the rooms like it says on the website. All in all the rooms were not impressive at all and severely needed updating based […] on the rates they charge for their rooms. We can definitely say we will never stay there again plus the location is very difficult to maneuver around due to the high traffic volume in downtown gatlinburg. Will definitely stay in pigeon forge next time......much cheaper and more convenient. Mehr

The hotel staff was very nice and sweet, made for an enjoyable time. Great indoor pool, and LOVED the hot tub. The room itself was great! I read several of the reviews and was kinda scared that I chose the wrong motel to stay in, but once we got there and saw everything knew I had done Great because everything was in great shape. this hotel says pet friendly, and it is but the pet friendly rooms are on the other side of the road, and your pet is not welcome anywhere else other than your room.

This hotel has a awesome pool area indoor/outdoor but the indoor pool was freezing and the hot-tub was kinda of dirty. Also noticed that the floors were very slippery I watched 3 people fall including my son. I think with a little maintance this could be a nicer more comfortable place. Stayed for Winterfest Convention during President's Day weekend. This is our 13th year coming to Gatlingburg for this convention and the Sidney James made it very easy. Tommy and the staff was very friendly and helpful with our group; arranged for rollaway beds as needed, which was very useful. Teens liked the heated pool, too. Bathrooms are small […] and rooms a bit dated, but no different from other G-burg options. Prices are great. Only drawback is the 1/2 mile hike down (and up) to the convention center and main strip. If you have anyone with mobility issues, be aware that all hotels up the Nature Trail road will be a challenge for them. Mehr

The beds were bad(blood on sheet, and very hard). The room was in need of updating. Towels had writing on them. Bathtub would not drain. The staff was very friendly and pool was very nice. But will never stay again.
