The location was very convenient, right off I95 & a good point if driving south to Florida from far up north. The price was a bargain. The breakfast was simple but good. The room was mediocre. You get what you paid for. The towels were stained. Sheets / Blankets had holes in them. The room was a bit stale. So its "ok" for an overnight stop but I completely […] suggest to bring your own pillows, towels and even sheets.... otherwise, spend a little more and book a room elsewhere. Mehr

"good hotel"
Very nice and clean and good breakfast.
I was traveling for work and internet was down. very disappointed overall. they used way to much bleach on their sheets and I broke out in hives which was very embarrasing when i had to give a presentation and everyone could see the hives on my arms and legs

"Average but not good for boats"
The room was good. Beds were good. A little out dated (tv). Wifi not good. Not good for boats, small parking lots, makes it tough to maneuver, not alot of plug ins. But overall its a nice place for the money.

Right off I95 so was a good stop for us. The price was great, and the young girl who checked us in was very nice and accomodating. Nice breakfast was included. Would recommend the hotel, but Santee has gone downhill since the outlet stores have moved out. Clark's is a great restaurant nearby for southern food. My Hotel stay, as always, very comfortable & the staff were very much pleasant & approachable, if there were any problems. Would suggest, a few issues. DVD access on all TV's in rooms; might need to upgrade TV & channel/Cable services; New furniture. Room prices are always affordable.

This HoJo reminded me of the oldest Holiday Inn I ever stayed in as a child. But it did have a microwave and small refrigerator. TV volume was very low, even at max setting. It offers the typical breakfast for a roadside motel, wireless, and a desktop PC/printer in the business center. Clean, comfortable, reasonably priced. Nothing special but I was not looking for special at the time. Continental breakfast is always hit or miss--this one was fair. The coffee was good. And hot.

I was a little hesitant about staying here at first since I had never stayed at Howard Johnson before. It was conveniently located right off the interstate. The surrounding area was nice with many restaurants nearby. The room was clean and did not smell of smoke as some places do. The staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was in front of the rooms […] and was no problem. Location is good for anyone not staying in the downtown Orangeburg area. Room was cleaned daily as expected. Lots of restaurants around, and plenty to do within walking distance. Overall I think this hotel is very good for the star rating. Breakfast was average, but what do you expect. The Hotel was good. The rooms were clean. The bathroom was clean. There was granite on the counter and desk tops. The faucets were a bit loose and the plumbing could use some updating. The tv was old. The AC was either Strong and Cold or off. No in between. The breakfast was not good. One parking spot per room. The front desk receptionist was adequate […] but not welcoming. hotel did not have our reservation so we had to double pay and then get a refund tho i didn't get any proof that the desk had done so. the room looked like they were imitating a more expensive hotel by simply making a list of the items ie microwave, fridge, table and placing them haphazardly in the room. the microwave & fridge were plugged into extension […] cords. same was true at breakfast which was terrible tang instead of oj, watery waffle batter that only half worked. front desk was unattended for 30 min. at 7:30 am. with lobby internet turned off. it has been years since i stayed at a howard johnsons and this did not inspire me to go back when there are other alternative for the same price. My husband and I travel a great deal in our work we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel.
Always enjoy my stay @ Howard Johnson, Santee S.C. Rooms are always clean; housekeeping staff are alway courteous & helpful. Any addt'l towels needed, they alway oblige. This is my hotel each & every time I stay in S.C to be w/my family. Always recommend this hotel to others. Thank you for making my stay very comfortable.

The price was right but it needs updating.A painting job is needed, update electricity needs to be worked on and new bed linens. The front end at check out was a young child maybe 14-16 he did okay but we stopped back the next day and the a lady that was there was helpful to a point, she was not the problem but the person in contact with the manager […] was very not in the mood to take care of the customer. would not recommend or stay there again,,,,,,ever. Room itself was clean, but furnishing were old and seemed worn. Needs to be refreshed. If you are looking for a quiet room for one night, it is fine.

GREAT PRICE, GREAT SERVICE, THE ROOM LOOK VERY CLEAN, BUT THERE IS A ODOR THAT WONT GO AWAY NOMATTER WHAT I SPRAYED. WHEN I LEFTH THE ODOR WAS IN MY CLOTHES.
Only problem was Trash truck coming before daylight and banging the dumpsters...Then that was the end of my sleeping...Other than that our stay was nice...

Was apprehensive due to reading previous reviews,but was pleasantly surprised.Had a great 4 day stay.Staff was friendly & helpful-rooms were clean-Breakfast was better than usual,with more room to eat.Parking has to be creative if you are pulling a boat as we were,but made do.Not the Waldorf but Great Value.

Now this was a great place to stay.. I was upgraded to a sutie, they had a nice hot breakfast in the morning. My room was every creature comfort, living room, dining area, sofas and tv's in both the living space and the bedroom. I was very impressed with this hotel, the staff was very courtious. I'd send any of my friends or family to this location […] for lay overs. I will use it again anytime, and bring a bathing suit for the indoor heated pool! Mehr

"Great Room for the Money"
I was surprised with this hotel for the price. It was very clean and roomy. It was also fixed up like a business type room with recliner and a very big desk for use of your laptop. Additionally, it was convenient to shops, restuarants and interstate.

The stay at the hotel was ok. The room was clean and easy to get to. All we were doing was a 1 night lay over on our trip. What really upsets me is I got charged by Hotels.com and the hotel charged me. And because of the way that I handle my finances I received 2 over draft charges from my bank because the hotel charged me twice. They said that it was […] going to be refunded last Sunday, it’s been 4 days and nothing has been done. Now they are telling me that they will not refund the charges. I contacted the corporate office for Howard Johnson and they weren’t much help. Hotels.com customer service is going to get contacted as well as a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau. The staff at the hotel really didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing when it came to checking in a customer that paid online. I wasn’t even asked for ID showing who I was. And then I got double charged for the room. This is enough to not recommend this hotel, or to stay there again. Also during the stay the AC quit working, they wouldn’t send someone to look at it nor would they let us change rooms. The AC eventually started working again, but only after the room got uncomfortably hot. If I was staying more than 1 night I would have been very angry. Mehr
