Surf Side Beach Club - Warwick

We went last minute for a long weekend escape. The hotel wasn't anything special. There's a kitchenette which we didn't really use, other than the mini-fridge. The views from the balcony were spectactular. The hotel is located on a cliff and is close to Elbow Beach, Surf Side Beach and Horseshoe Bay. We rented a motorbike from Orleander's which was […] super convenient since we didn't want to wait on the buses. Also, there's really not any restaurants nearby, and since we didn't do any cooking, we drove into Hamilton which was a ~10min. ride. Overall, we would stay here again. Mehr

Stayed in a cottage with an awesome view of the ocean and the beach below. Friendly and helpful staff. Great access to all of the South Shore beaches and to Hamilton. The hotel does not deserve extra stars simply because it is in a great location, has decent grounds and a great private beach. The hotel itself, the building/rooms are in terrible rundown condition. EVERYTHING has to be replaced (it is all maybe half a century old). Our water pressure was so terrible, I could not wash out conditioner from my hair. The […] bed was so squeaky and unstable, you turn and feel it may fall apart (forget about doing you know what in that bed...) Water heater broke while we were there and flooded our room a bit. A/C, stove and anything metal is soooo super rusty it is disgusting to look at it. Our room had full kitchen with those super old appliances. Mehr

In general, we found our stay at the Surf Side quite pleasant. Great view of the ocean, sunrise and sunset. The 1 Bdrm we had for the week was clean but in need of a paint job in places. Having a kitchen was a big benefit as eating out is really expensive. However, the kitchen could have used a few more utensils and two of the stove burners didn't work. […] We were disappointed that the pictures of the resort showing beach and dining were misleading. There is no dining on site, and during the time we were there, their beach was under water. We were told this happens at times and seems to depend on weather and tides. So if you are looking for a hotel with a sandy beach, take this into consideration. On the plus side, the staff was friendly, the suite was clean and bug-free, and access to bus was just at the hotel driveway. Be sure to get a transit pass for the week - the bus connections are great, and access was easy to all parts of the Island. The lovely south shore beaches were within 15 minutes bus ride, as was downtown Hamilton. Mehr

If you don't mind rust, this place is ok. The patio table was so rusty, pieces where flaking off. The was rust on the lamp shades, the refrig and around the edges of the bath room sinks. the lock did not work well. The a.c. units did not fit the spaces closely.

Our family has been going to Surf Side for almost 30 years - this time just husband and me for birthday trip. Friendly staff, almost private pool the whole time we were there, love sitting on our cottage (#10) balcony overlooking the surf, fully stocked kitchenette so don't have to eat out every meal. Preferred when they had a restaurant and bar onsite […] but the economy has hurt the island. If you are looking for full service, typical resort or have young kids, you'd be better off at Southampton Fairmont but if you appreciate being on your own, jumping on a scooter and exploring the island, the location is great, the cottages are traditional Bermuda (slightly worn but very clean), flowers everywhere. Depending on the weather, you will have more or less beach but this time there was a decent beach especially at low tide - although we like HorseShoe or LongBay anyway and they are a short ride. Try Island Cuisine on Middle Road for inexpensive meals, Swizzle Inn 2 just down the road, or the early dinner special at five star FourWays Inn - great food and value. We'll be back - can't beat the ocean view for any price. Mehr

All rooms have view of ocean and pool. The beach is a climb down the cliff but completely private and beautiful. The rooms are a little dated but very large and come with a balcony and kitchen. We loved the bus stop at the end of the driveway. We bought a 3-day bus/ferry pass and used it 21 times! So affordable. Make sure you have your taxi driver stop […] between the airport and hotel at the Modern Mart to buy groceries for your kitchen. Bring or buy a cooler and you are all set for a fun vacation. Mehr

We had a relaxing, happy, nine-day stay at the Surf Side Beach Club.. The staff is very helpful courteous andf friendly. The grounds are beautifully kept and the view, from any of the rooms, is spectacular. We enjoyed the swimming pool and loved looking out at the ocean with its changing colour and wonderful surf. We walked down to the beach twice a […] day simply for the spectacular view and the exercise. We found the other guests to be very friendly, courteous and quiet. Everyone seems to be there for the peaceful, relaxing atmosphere -to enjoy the gardens, the pool and the view. We noted that many of the guests we spoke to had been previous guests -(some of them for their third /fourth time). That speaks well of a resort. We did not mind that there was no restaurant service at the resort. We found the nearby restaurant to be very nice and a local grocery store close by. Thank-you to the front desk clerk. He was so helpful and courteous. The first two days we were there we consulted him on all subject matters that involved Burmuda and he was patient, knowledgable, and very friendly. Here is the deal. If you want one of the most beautiful and lasting memories of a gorgeous place, stay at the Surfside (all at a very affordable price). You are right on the ocean and have your own private beach (views are Spectacular!) and 90% of the time, you are the only one on it (meaning the beach). Word of Caution, the surf can be rough (so watch […] the small kids or weak swimmers). Pool is clean and very nice / Staff is great. There is no restaurant or bar so stop at a market on the way in and pick up booze and groceries----all units have kitchens. Some units are more updated than the others so talk with the staff about the right room for you. Bus stop right at the bottom of the driveway that opens the whole island up to you---also Swizzle Inn (great pub / great food) in walking distance. So here is the last piece. If you are uptight, cannot take care of yourself, want to be pampered, or generally have an "attitude"-----do not stay here. Because laid back folks like myself realize the tremendous treasure we found on the South Shore and would rather not run into you when we return---and we will be back with a cold bucket of beers at the pool handing them out generously just like I did a few days back. Just came back from a 4 night stay at this lovely village of cottages. Here's the skinny: You get your own private balcony with table and chairs and an unrestricted view of the ocean. The whole time I was there I saw maybe 1 or 2 people; very private! You also have access to a beautiful beach that is also very private. The location is central to the […] island and getting anywhere is an easy bus ride or scooter trip away. I HIGHLY recommend renting a scooter or two for your stay. It's cheap, convenient and fun! You can get from one side of the island to the other in under an hour. Hotel staff was very friendly and the house cleaning even cleans your dishes. Great perk. The hotel is run down and badly in need of an overhaul. That said, the location is quite good, on the South Shore, with a convenient bus stop. The view is fantastic, and the layout of the rooms is excellent, including kitchen. The pool is in a nice location, with lots of chairs and tables to make it comfortable. for the money, compared to other locations on the island, this is about a C+/B- The worst thing was that the "king" bed was simply two twin beds pushed together with a king sheet over it. that should be a skin in Saturday Night Live... The "beach" down below took some walking to get to so bring shoes as the coral could scrape up your feet, flip-flops […] worked find. after climbing over rocks for about 20 minutes you literally DO have your own private beach: EPIC! Sooo much nicer than the crowd at Horseshoe. I was in cottage # 14 and the outside porch was a GREAT thing to have. breakfast as the sun was coming up and dinner with the sound of the ocean waves. the staff was very pretty nice. no 4 or 5 star treatment but that's not what i paid for. The pool is pretty nice but had a huge "bubble" underneath the shallow end - like the water had seeped underneath the sealant... the water was clean and nice and warm. i noted other reports that touched on the Internet access. short answer: bad. but c'mon! you're in Bermuda. get off line for a few days and relax. this was a great place to "un plug". the bus system is great as is the ferry service. I got a 3 day pass for under $30 US and it allowed for unlimited rides - one time i took the ferry from Hamilton to Rockaway and back just to enjoy the boat ride. ... enjoy Bermuda and if you are used to Motel 8 or Holiday inn, you'll feel ok a the Surf Side. I was there in July 11 - 14th and personally went for Sun, Heat, beach and being outdoors. mission accomplished. personally, I don't mind the humidity. if you do, simply don't do Bermuda in July or Aug. all the best! If you are looking for super plush rooms this may not be the best choice but as far as service and cleaniness of the resort and rooms it worked just fine for our stay for the price. no restaurant no food / beverage service looked like they were about to shut it down long walk and a struggle to get to the beach everything needed updating tv was 10 yrs old at least view was very nice

i was concerned about staying here because the reviews for it on this and other sites were so erratic - some saying it was fantastic; others that it was awful. happy to report it was much closer to fantastic and well worth the price. the rooms were clean; we had a back porch with a great view; staff was friendly enough; the pool and other common areas […] were well maintained; overall it was perfectly lovely. yes, the furniture, etc is a little outdated and there was no food on premises (that i could see, anyway) but the Swizzle Inn is a short walk away as is a small grocery store where you can get whatever you need. the bus stop to get to Hamilton is just across the street from the entrance to the hotel and the ride into hamilton was just 10 minutes. all in all, it was the perfect spot for my trip and i'd stay here again in the future. Hotel location good -- near bus stop. Nice private beach. Room large & comfortable with nice kitchen. There are Bed bugs in Room 329 and the whole room needs to be painted.

i stayed here for 2 nights w my daughter..the room was large and the balcony view of the ocean beach was great. the bathroom sink and tub are outdated and didn't drain properly. also the shower we couldn't use. the kitchenette was useful. the location was close to bus stop and other hotels. the chemical smell of the linens bothered me. i would request […] unscented laundry and check the room out ahead of time to i could find one that the bathroom was A ok. the staff were friendly and helpful. The view is from your room is crazy beautiful! The room is OK and servers its purpose. If you are looking for upscale you should try one of the resorts.

Last minute plan took me to Bermuda. Off season rate is reasonable but out of any reality at High Season. with todays economy. . Hotel is on a beautiful site overlooking the ocean clean and close to Hamilton . Do not recommend late Feb as weather is terrible . Left a day early with assurances that would be credited the day.

The Surf Side has magnificant views from rooms as pool deck. The hotel and grounds were clean and well groomed. Beautiful landscaping. The hotel description is a little misleading as their are no real services available at the hotel. The hotel is a perfect choice for a secluded getaway and is ample with kitchenette if you want to cook or prepare basic […] meals. The closest restaurant for lunch and dinner is about a 1/2 mile away and breakfast a mile. If you rent scooters or can rely on public transportation, its quite a destination. With a family, cabs get quite expensive, approx $20.00 to Hamilton's Front Street, each way. Their are no rental cars on the island. The beach below the cliff, approx 100 feet is beautiful pink sand, crystal clear water. A very quiet secluded area. Mehr

Old hotel which seems to be going stale. Great beach and pool, friendly (although overworked) personnel. But there is no food served on the premises; you have to walk ten minutes (on a narrow road with marginal sidewalks) to a convenience store and (quite good) restaurant, and getting anywhere else requires using the local bus system (which is also […] quite good). Air conditioners were old (bucket under ours on the porch, and the thermostat didn't work). No lifeguard ever at the pool. The hotel is twenty minutes outside of Hamilton, and there isn't anything else really close. Security precautions seemed quite high. Low rates for a reason! Mehr

The room was comfortable with plenty of space. The grounds are older which was actually charming. The location was pretty convenient to most things although a moped is really needed just about anywhere. Our only criticism was that we were awakened by maintenance a couple of mornings.

Yes the sheets are sea shell print from the 80's, but the staff and surroundings were absolutely lovely. Beautiful views, clean beach, quiet surroundings. I would return with out second thought.
