the place was beautiful to look at- i couldnt take enough pictures. the pool and hot tub was perfect. the hotel is right by the mall, my husband and i were able to order in from many differant places and had a hot free breakfast in the morning and drinks at night it was amazing. we enjoyed our stay so much we ended up staying through the weekend and […] brought our kids. The Hotel was nice but we were expecting it to be nicer. The game room had 4 really old games and one was out of order. The lounge had a menu for food but the lady said they only sold drinks. Breakfast was good if you like sausage, eggs and cereal. Not much else to choose from, but my kids are a fan of the waffle maker so they were not happy. Pool looked […] nicer in the picture. Normally checking into a motel is a pleasant experience. Not this time! As I was standing in line on of the front desk clerks came out from the back carrying her purse. When she saw me she sighed and called me over to help me. Her demeanor and attitude made me feel like I was intruding on her plans to go somewhere. Her attitude was so bad, my wife walked […] away so not to say anything, leaving me to deal with the check-in. I am usually patient but by the end of this ordeal, I had lost my patience and just asked if the clerk was done, grabbed my receipt and walked away. The room we stayed in was supposed to be non-smoking, but as soon was the air conditioning was turned on, the entire room smelled like cigarettes. The entry ways are un-kept with lots of dirt and sand. I am not sure but it looks like the wing we stayed in was more like an apartment complex as it seemed that many of the tenants were there long term. This motel used to be the crown jewel of Albuquerque, now its another run down place and needs lots of attention. Mehr

At first glance, I wasn't impressed but the quietness and the spacious rooms changed my mind. The decor of the rooms were very modest but clean. The hot breakfast and the gated parking are a plus. I would stay there again with my family.

You could hear talking from the next room.

Room was fair and spacious, pool was nice and warm. Breakfast was good, eggs made to order served with hashbrowns, bacon or saugage, and toast.

We had an excellent time. The hotel has the most interesting architecture, we were quite pleased. The character and size were very large.

It was nice. Except next time we would perfer a room not facing Louisana traffic noise was awful. Then there were people parked right under our room and were partyimg in there car and windows down they were really loud guess they partked there to do there partying and left beer cans in the area they were parked.

The place is nearly empty, a relic of earlier, finer days. The rooms are slightly worn, hence the great price. This is among the best values in Albuquerque

This hotel was perfect for us, it was convenient to be able to shut the bedroom door while I (mom) got up early, went and got some coffee and watched tv in the living area while the others slept quietly in the room. I also liked the fact that there 2 tv's so the kids could watch one and we had the other. The staff was nice and gave us a later check-out […] time at no cost due an emergency we had while in Albuquerque. Room was CLEAN, very comfortable. The surrounding neighborhood was kind of yucky, but we didn't really have to deal with it since we parked in the parking garage, which was another good point. I do have some small complaints about the hotel, the breakfast is not very convenient because you have to wait in a fairly long line for someone to make you eggs and toast and such, and the person didn't understand any English. Our refrigerator in our room froze our beverages, but that wasn't that big of a deal, and other than that, these rooms are really nice. Mehr

Staff were pleasant but facility was badly outdated in functionality; set of steps between elevator and rooms made luggage transfer awkward at best, doorways in hallway and from parking garage had posts in the middle which essentially blocked the luggage cart, computer system had failed causing overbooking and inability to meet non-smoking or adjoining […] room requests, etc. Location is good but without some rehab of the basic structure it is not a good value in light of the available comparable hotels in the area. In fact, we subsequently stayed at another property for less per night and found the accommodations far superior. Mehr

The room rate was reasonable. We were to get qn size beds, but ended with standards and was too old.There was a wedding taking place and was too noisey. Other than that it was fine.

People were friendly. Room was clean and just what me and my family were looking for. Close to really good food places.

We checked out after a few hours, A/C did not cool room and it was 97 degrees that day. Was told by staff it was a 1960 A/C unit. Sheets were paper thin and gray. Could be a beautiful hotel, but needs extensive renovations. Suite was very dreary, dark and dirty. Commons areas were noisy and scary.

All was well. The breakfast is not as wonderful s it was two years ago when we stayed.

My kids lived this place. Lobby was cool and the two rooms where both very big. Loved the space overall feel of this hotel.

I have loved staying at this hotel since I was a little girl. Great indoor pool & delish free breakfast. Plus a happy hour! Our family of 5 could stay in 1 room since it has two beds & a fold out bed on the couch with a door separating the two rooms. But beware they charge per person. Unfortunately the last time I stayed there I had called 3 times in […] advance to have a crib reserved for my 5month old & each time I was told I did not need to reserve one & they had plenty available. So they day we get there... suprise they only had one & it was being used. I was sooooo mad! Then to top it off the "manager" of all people was incredibly rude to me acting like I was the one in the wrong, was completely unappologetic. Then she even threatened to charge for another person because my friend who lives in Albuquerque went with me to check in. Then later on she overheard me asking for an additional meal ticket which was being offered to me for free for the inconvenience that was caused & she was trying to take it back!!! Ugh how incredibly selfish & unprofessional. Great Hotel but WOW please fire that horribly mean & rude old lady manager. Retain the nice & professional ones. Mehr

The hotel staff was very nice and so was the hotel room. However, we had problems with other guests in the pool. They had at least 10 children in their group and they were picking on other guests and stealing from the other people in the pool. The overall stay was great, just the problem in the pool.

the first thing was there was no bedding for my childrens bed...had to beg the front desk for a blanket..then we had asked for a room by the pool and got the room fartherest from the pool so we were freezing walking outside to our room when we got out...but THEN the last night was a nightmare on earth! The room across from us was rented to some people […] that were definately drunk and I suspect on other things...they yelled, cussed, fought all night...and there was at least 4 grown men and a woman running in and out slamming the door at least 50 times until 7 AM! they wernt even in their room were standing outside our room all night. I called the front desk and the clerk told me he was going to take care of it...when I called back he told me they wernt dangerous or anything...I couldn't believe it! I strongly suspect these were friends of the clerk that was on duty that night..because he obviously knew them..It was awful. I've been staying at this hotel several times for the last 10 years and it's gone down hill bad. It is a spot for low life druggies now I don't recommend unless you want to stay up all night listening to people yell and fight. Mehr

This hotel is my home away from home. I'm a regular and have always been pleased with the personnel as well as the hotel itself.

This hotel Is close and simple to my primary destination wich is heald at the fairgrounds. I stay there twice anually. The only problem on this trip was 1 of 2 elevators was not working one day. One problem from a past trip was unlocking the door. It took 3 to 12 tries even after the worked on it. Friendly staff.

This hotel has seen better days ... a bit rundown feeling but quite acceptable if you want a relatively low rate near UNM and Uptown/Coronado Mall. Huge two room suites albeit tired decor.

The facility has great potential, but needs some work. It's a little rough around the edges and could be cleaner. The free breakfast is OK, but not exceptional. For the price, it was OK and I would stay there again.

The bed was VERY comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

You either love the Barcelona Suites or hate the Barcelona Suites. I think it is a great value but it is not a luxury hotel. Pluses and minuses: Secured undergroud self parking. Great in the winter. (Neighborhood makes you wonder how secured it really is?). Clean hotel. (However it is old and it shows some wear and tear.) Converted apartment complex […] so rooms are large. (However halls are exterior and even though secured are darker than expected.) Common areas occasionally collect trash. Three of the four wings have 4 or 5 stairs to get to your room. We stayed at the Barcelona Suites. It was a good value for the money. I would definitely stay there again. The hotel needs better maintenance and the bed could be more comfortable.

Given the 2 star rating, we were not expecting anything particularly fancy. However, we did expect the ability to park our car in the hotel parking area and enjoy a quiet night's rest. Instead, they use their open eating area in the hotel lobby for disco night and wedding receptions and since the rooms are right off this area, you get to be hear the […] loud music reverberating off the tile floor all night long!!!! When we complained about the noise, we were told that our room was as far away as possible. There is not enough parking for hotel guests and the party guests. The surrounding neighborhood is sketchy at best and one evening the hotel was crawling with Abq. police and private security because of the booked party. Next morning these guests had left remnants of their empty wine cases out in the interior hallway planters and the staff never picked them up till the next day. The temp in the room was not adjustable. We asked about it and were told it worked and would check on it...never worked. The brkfst offered was greasy, but it actually was the best amenity offered. When I arrived, my online reservations didn't show up immediately, but the staff was quick to track it down. The room wasn't cleaned very well, but after notifying the front desk, cleaning staff showed up 10 minutes later and corrected the problems. There are only a few restaurant choices in the immediate area, but many more within a reasonable distance […] (1-3 miles). Proximity to the malls was great, and the NM State Fair Grounds was a block away. The parking area is protected by gates that open with the room-key, and the breakfast is staffed by a cook who will make your eggs to order. Mehr

The bed was real comfy but overall the hotel was just dirty. Our room needed to be painted, the bathroom needed to be cleaned better and everything in the room was old. The comforter look like it was from the 70's as did the curtains. The bedding looked like it had been over used. They only gave us too towels for a room that was supposed to fit four […] people. The towels were also dingy and old. Location was shady area of town. Close to the I-40 and the State Fair grounds. We checked out after one night. Stayed there when I was younger and it was a lot nicer but I'm sure we won't stay there again. Mehr

convenient to the State Fair Grounds. needs a little more upkeep. no tissue in rooms or enough towels. microwave was dirty and warped inside. cigarette smell in room and burn in bedspread. good breakfast. friendly staff. pool and hot tub area decent. overall functional, just not luxurious.
