"Super 8 Motel - Dubuque/Galena Area"
The hotel was cheap but I wouldn't stay here again. It was a very old hotel room. The furniture was not in good shape and the carpet had old stains on it. I kept my shoes on. I'm not a very picky person but i just felt like it smelled like mold and was not up to my standards. I could hear the tv above us all night long and I don't think they had it […] on very loud. Just not for me, but if you want a cheap place just to sleep, it's okay. Mehr
"dubuque area motel"
Had a great stay. Hostess Mary was very accomading and helpful. All in all a good exoeriance.
The only reason I stay here is, there's only TWO hotels in Manchester Iowa--Both owned by the same people. They have not changed anything in the rooms since these hotels were built. Towels thin, ragged and torn. Bedding is OLD and thread bare. Mattress is ORIGINAL--6-7 years old. Pool is broken--Has not worked in 3-4 years. T.V's are 6-7 years old. CAN'T […] believe Day's Inn still puts their name on this place--Worse than a Motel 6. STAFF, however is GREAT and willing to do WHATEVER they can do. But are handicapped by the owners and their failure to UPGRADE!!! This is the BEST PLACE in town, which is SAD!! Mehr

"Decent hotel if you don't need anything fancy"
Good hotel if you just need a place to sleep for a reasonable price. The only negative was the heat was not on in my room when I got in there. It was pretty chilly in the room for a half hour before the heat heated up the room.
"Low cost for a reason"
On arrival we were quickly checked in, the room was extremely cold upon entering, the heating unit was turned completely off. It took the unit about 2 hours to warm the room up. There were several boxelder bugs in the room, but they must have froze to death. The biggest issue was the quality and condition of the matress, very uncomforatble! I have stayed at many Super 8's for business and many would not even rate so I was very pleased to stay at this hotel it wasn't what I expected, I was very comfortable.

"Dubuque Super 8"
This hotel was great. The customer service was right on. We had a 'frig and microwave in the room. The room was clean, hallways clean, and the breakfast was quite good. More food than we expected. All this at a very low price. I would stay again!
"Super 8 Dubeque"
The staff (Mary) was excellent. She took great care of our group. The beds were amazing and I have not sleep that well in any orther hotel. Breakfast was more than just donuts and juice.

Overall the room was clean, everything worked, Corners in the bathroom could have been a little cleaner. Bed was comfortable, front staff very nice. Conveniently located. Would recommend if someone is trying to save money on lodging.

"Super 8 Motel - Dubuque/Galena Area"
Everything was great, except for the fact that my air conditioner was ancient and didn't work at all. One of the hottest nights ever, which made it difficult to enjoy the very comfortable bed. Location is ideal since it is right off Route 20.
"Super 8 - Dubuque"
The hotel is falling apart and is in desparate need of repair. The continental breakfast wasn't worth it at all. I will never stay there again.

Pro: Generous breakfast, friendly service, decent room, easy to find on US-20 (west side of Dubuque). Other: Next door to a popular Mexican restaurant offering cheap margaritas (but not-so-great food) when we were there... a bit noisy, but, then again, maybe you like cheap margaritas...
Needs new carpet and chairs have stains but had a nice T.V. but no movie channel . One star hotel at a two star price. It is not what I expected from Motel 8 as I have stayed at many in the past and this ranks towards the bottom of the list.

"1st Time in Dubuque"
My son & I stayed at the hotel on our way from central Illinois to the Mall of America. The room was nice and comfortable. He is a smoker, & was pleased that we had a smoking room. The staff was nice & friendly. The breakfast was nothing spectacular. The Mexican Restaurant next door (I forgot it's name) was FANTASTIC!! We didn't do any sightseeing, […] but looking at the maps, there is a lot to do in Dubuque. I was disappointed the hotel doesn't have a pool, because a relaxing swim would have been nice after our long drive. Overall I was pleased with the room, the rates, and the services. Mehr
"Super 8 Motel Dubuque Iowa"
I was for the most part pleased with this motel. Clean,yet stains on both chairs in the room. The only thing I wasnt comfortable with, was the noisy a/c unit when u turned it on "cooler" temp. It was very warm outside but pretty much had to keep a/c on low fan. Overall, I would stay here again, but hope to have a better a/c unit next time around.
The wall shower liner had a crack in it but everything else was OK.
I stayed on 2 different trips. The first night the security chain on the door was broken and the second night the shower wall had a crack in it but everything else was great both days and I would stay there again.
"Friendly Employees"
I have to say that every employee of this property went out their way to make sure my stay was excellent. There is a young man named Nash that worked the front desk that took care of a problem for me in a way I couldn't believe. I told him my air conditioner might not be working right. He told me he would look at it and if needed would move my stuff […] to a different room. When I returned Nash had replaced the unit. This was on the weekend when their wasn't too many people working. He is a young man in his early twentys who cared about me. He provided service I didn't expect. It was a great stay as always. Mehr
"NOTHING WORKS"
3:20 pm. Time for check in. I go to the counter and am told, "Sorry, your room's not ready. Check in is not til 3." "Uh, it's 3:20." "Oh, well, it's still not ready." "I'll wait," I say. "I have to use the internet." 3:22 pm. "Here's the internet code." No luck. Try again. No luck. 3:25 pm. "The code doesn't work." "Yes it does. Try it again." 3:30 […] pm. "The code doesn't work." "Well you can call the customer service number on the sheet from your room. It's ready." 3:35 pm. Phone dead. Go back to counter. "Phone's dead." "No it's not, try it again." 3:40 pm. Return to counter. "Phone's still dead". Clerk, "Sigh." 3:45 pm. Says one front desk woman to another, "She's right. The phone doesn't work." 3:50 pm. "We'll have to send someone up. I can't find the maintenance man." 8:00 pm. Internet still down. 8:00 am. Out of coffee at breakfast buffet. "Excuse me, is there any way we could get some coffee please?" Clerk, "Sigh." No Internet. No Phone. No Coffee. No Room Available on Time. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Mehr

"Good hotel for price, would definitely stay again"
I was a little nervous about reading noise complaints from other reviewers. I thought it was very quiet and the room served the purpose of staying the night. The room seemed clean and the AC worked really well. The front desk people were all very helpful and nice as well. The internet also worked well in the room.

"Hotel Super8 in Dubuque/Galana"
The location and price was very good. It was close to the aboretuem and the port of Dubuque. The hotel was clean and the breakfast that was included and good. The room had a frig and microwave. I would recommend this if you want to nice clean place to sleep that is close to area attractions.

Writing this review at about 1 AM because the company "Accurate Maintence" is outside the window making a lot of noise. People in the hallway near the computer being incredible loud and rude. Hotel has noise carrying throughout. Hopefully we can cancel our second nights reservation without charge since this was such a terrible experience. Will not stay […] here again, Best Western down the road looks like it could be much better. Mehr

We wanted a hotel for one night (approximately 15 hours). Cost was very good. Bed, TV, internet service, other amenities also good. That's what one wants from a Super 8. With these expectations, we would absolutely recommend Super 8.

"Inexpensive and comfortable"
If you need a crib be sure to ask for a pack and play. This is not a fancy hotel, but it was inexpensive and just a few minutes from the attractions we came to see. The room was surprisingly quiet. I expected to hear a lot more traffic noises. The bed was also comfortable.
Super 8 Motel - Dubuque/Galena Area 2730 Dodge St, was not a pleasant place to stay. We walked into the office and smelled seafood. The office worker talked nonstop about her personal life with an accent. The nonsmoking room that we had smelled so much like a damp basement. It was musty. "Super 8 in Dubuque."
The walls had a new coat of paint and the carpet was newer. However the bedspread was torn and worn out, there was a funky odor to the room. There were only two sets of towels both days. We had to call down to get more each day. The desk clerk only set the room key for one day and not the two we were booked for. Breakfast was only cereal (sugary) bagels, […] toast, and donuts. Mehr

The room was very dirty! There was hair all over the bed. The bathroom was clean, the service at the front desk was good and there was an average continental breakfast. I personally would not stay there again based on their quality of cleaning staff.
Was o.k. for the price. Much like we expected.

"Labor Day Weekend"
We have stayed at this hotel on several other occasions and for the price and the location to going out on the river we have also been pleased. This time not as much. The first morning we had a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door it was about 10am and someone is knocking on the door regarding cleaning our room, well check out isn't until 11am and we were […] staying for 2 nights so there was NO reason someone should have been knocking when we had the sign on the door. In addition to that they were doing work on the room next to ours and we had to listen to drilling and hammering before 10am as well. Also they have coffee pots in the room but neither morning did we have coffee because they don't give you any in the room. Sat. evening when we got back to the hotel for the night around 9pm we went to use our room keys and neither would work they hadn't activated them for the 2 nights we had booked, needless to say again we weren't pleased. "Super 8 in Dubuque was just that...SUPER"
Check in process was flawless. Counter staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Room was as expected for a Super 8 and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. Slept great! Would recommend to someone who just wants a good nights sleep at an affordable price.
