"Hotel San Royal liegt direkt neben Markusplatz."
Super Lage, schönes Zimmer mit Klimaanlage, schöne Aussicht. Perfekt.
"very nice location"
very nice location but very small room
"Royal san marco hotel for valentine's celebration"
A hop literally away from Piazza San Marco. I stayed 3 days during carnaval week on tuesday, wednesday and thursday...their week-end rates I found were overpriced. Pleasant in all regards, adequate breakfast and if Piazza san Marco is where all-day activities abound during carnaval week...that is the place to be!
"unhelpful service, uncomfortable room"
the hotel was just off of san marco which was amazing. however, there was not much else exceptional about this hotel. the front desk and bell hop service was not very helpful. the room was also uncomfortable and seemed cluttered with old and useless furniture. i also had difficulty finding the hotel because the road name i was given did not match the […] road it was actually located on. "Royal San Marco Hotel in Venice - great location!"
This hotel has a great location for a lot of tourist attractions including Rialto, which is approximately 10mins walk away. It is very close to Piazza San Marco making it very easy to get to from the airport. Rooms are kind of small, but fine for a short stay. The bathroom shower was great - nice water pressure and hot. We didn't eat breakfast in the […] hotel as it didn't seem worthwhile given what was available. Nice hotel for a short stay. Mehr
"Good hotel if you like to be in the City Centre"
Very close to San Marco the heart of Venice. Quiet enough to have a good night sleep.
"Royal San Marco hotel in Venice -- stay away"
Where to start with this train wreck of a hotel? The best place to start would probably be having the receptionist turn to her co-worker and call us "stupid Americans" (in Italian) because we didn't know how much to pay the luggage porter. This set the tone for a theme of staff unfriendliness throughout our stay (e.g., pushing past us and other guests […] in the lobby). The rooms themselves left much to be desired, especially for the price of the hotel. The decor felt aged and dated, our bathtub had moldy grout and some stains, and the bathroom layout was so crammed that my wife and I found it impossible to use the toilet without having our feet on the edge of the bidet. To add to the fun, the hotel nickel-and-dimes you in a number of spots. Two examples that really stuck out were the obscenely expensive internet service (they per-hour, and it's more than most hotels charge for a full day), and the similarly expensive (twice the posted/advertised rate, in fact) lackluster breakfast (commercially-prepared and reheated eggs and pastries, no fresh fruit, etc). As very frequently travellers, our advice would be to avoid this place. Either stay elsewhere in Venice (we kept passing Palace Bonvecchiati -- just a few steps away -- and wishing we'd stayed there instead), or stay at one of the less-expensive hotels outside of Venice (Hotel Antony Palace in Marcon is fantastic) and take their shuttles into the city instead. "San Marco Royal, on St Mark's Square"
Very conveniently located and clean and well presented. Decor was quite dramatic - some rooms resembling stately homes! the double bed was huge and the upkeep was very good, and the staff pleasant. got a last minute deal which represented good value for money
"Royal San Marco - Venice"
Perfect location, very friendly staff. A/C needs to be replaced.
"Hard to get to...but worth it."
To get there you have to take the water ferry to the port, then go over 2 bridges and through the whole San Marco square, which is FULL of people! My only issue with all this, is that it wasn't marked clearly on the site map, and I had 2 suitcases and a rolling laptop case. Long travel trip. Wasn't easy to do with countless stairs and 90 degree weather. […] But once I found it...you CAN NOT beat the location. Absolutely amazing and in the center of where you want to be. Tiny tiny room, which I expected since I've been to Italy countless times. But this was smaller than any so far. Staff wasn't too friendly from the very start, I went for work, which I model so I was there to shoot and had some fun time, when I asked questions they seemed zero percent interested in helping me find anything. One day had to be up at 5am, tried to go outside to smoke, doors were locked. After wondering the empty hotel, found the employee asleep on the couch in the breakfast room. He let me out. My overall opinion is that it was a great location, staff just so so, and as I assume...just a pain to get to any hotel in Venice central. Still worth it. Had a great stay overall, perfect area to be in. Mehr
"Location is the best part of it"
Its 1 block from San Marco Square so that's extremely convenient. Everything else was ok...
"Good localization"
Is an old Hotel but the service is excellent and is an execellent location

"OK hotel but it could be worse"
The hotel is clean. The receptionists were mostly welcome except for one who got annoyed cos we asked for the key room, and threw it on the table. Customer service is just 5/10
"Royal San Marco - prime location"
The hotel's main selling point is that it is situated about 30 metres from the Piazza San Marco and an easy ten minute's walk from the Rialto. The reception staff all speak very good English and probably also French, German and Spanish (although they were quite happy to let me use my far from fluent Italian!) and were quick to help with any queries […] and requests. The rooms are quite small, but they were equipped with everything one needed and I found the bed very comfortable. The bathroom was good and there was ample wardrobe and drawer space, a safe and a minibar. There was no noise at night. The breakfast room was pleasant, although rather cramped and the buffet was fine, albeit more to European tastes, with a good selection of cereals, fruit salad, yoghurts, ham, salami and cheese, croissants and sweet buns and just a small choice of omelettes and bacon for those who want a hot breakfast. Coffee was nice. The Royal San Marco is perhaps not ideal for those who wish to spend a lot of time in their room, but it is unlikely that a visitor to Venice would want to! I found it very convenient for arrival and departure (Vaparetto, Alilaguna boats and water taxis are no more than 200 metres away) and it was quite exhilarating to step out of the hotel and be on one of the most iconic piazzas in the world in a couple of steps. There is a pleasant bar and a nice restaurant onsite. Mehr
"Convient but not recomended"
This hotel was very convenient to San Marco square, but very uncomfortable. The front desk staff was aloof, everything in the area was VERY expensive, and the room was TINY. Itty bitty tiny. The Wifi was not free, available for a ridiculously high price - shockingly high, but not free. We went in February, and it was cold in Venice and heat was very […] inconsistent, it continued to shut off. I am sure there are other well located hotels that have bigger rooms and nicer staff. Mehr
"Not really 4 star"
This is no more than a 3 star hotel. The heating and hot water worked but not properly. I was shocked to discover WiFi is not free, and the charge is really high. The staff were unfriendly, I suppose they dont need to be, as this is Venice and the hotel will always be busy because of it's location, which is excellent, btw.
"Recommended but not 4 stars"
Nice Breakfast, Nice Lobby, Rooms a bit dated, They look like the pictures but not as nice, Great location, mold on the walls behind the curtain, shower glass leaked and let water all over the bathroom floor
"San Marco Hotel - Excellant location."
Great location, lovely area, however all restaurants and cafes in surrounding area were very expensive.
"bad experience"
i know real estate in Venice is high but they could rearrangefloor plan and remove bidet for a bigger shower and do a better cleaning job.
"Royal San Marco Hotel - Venice"
The hotel was in a lovely location however with high tide in Venice it proved to difficult to make our way to the hotel from the Canal after being dropped of by our water taxi. Furthermore the room we were given was probably the smallest we have ever had in the many years we have been travelling and also one of the most expensive. The breakfast area […] was quite small and it was a bit busy and slow to get food with no glasses and shortage of breakfast food for long periods. Great position right at St Marcs Square but too pricey for the room we got. Mehr
We selected this hotel on a recommendation of our travel agent. Hotel is centrally located just off St Mark's Square so location is very central. Hotel room was very small however the bathroom was large. The hotel staff were very helpful and pleasant. The breakfast was very good and lots of it.
"Awesome location, but small and not 4 Stars"
The hotel was in prime location. Right next to San Marco square, so it was nice to walk around Venice and then go back to the Hotel to rest a little. But the room was tiny, which I think is normal for a hotel in that location. But definitely, not a 4 star hotel. Should be labeled as a 3 Star hotel. Hotel service was okay. Not the most friendly staff, […] but they did help us when we asked for info. Mehr

"Royal San Marco Hotel - Venice"
This hotel is all about location - It's one block down a tiny side street into the very center of Saint Mark's Square. The rooms are small and spartan, but OK. The lobby, breakfast and lounge areas are very good. I would recommend this hotel with one proviso: Expect less service than you would receive in the US. The great shortcoming is the level […] of service. I can't say this hotel is significantly worse than others I've encountered in Italy. My advice is to anticipate a lower level of service than the US, and to be patient and constantly pleasant; you'll get the best in return. Mehr
"Royal San Marco Hotel in San Marco, Venice"
The key for this hotel is the location. It is just off the Piazza di San Marco, which makes it easy to find, even in a city as labyrinthine as Venice. Like many city based hotels, the rooms were incredibly small. The room itself consisted of enough space for the bed and a single dresser-type piece of furniture. The bed was a little on the firm side, […] and our pillows were about the consistancy of rocks. The bathroom was fine, but the shower was a little claustrophobic, though it wouldn't surprise me if this was the norm. The breakfast was very good, consisting mostly of pastries, with some cereal options and slices of meats. The room was largely worth the price because of the convenience of the location. We weren't visiting Venice to stay in the room, so its small size wasn't that much of a detriment. It's location is a short walk from the Alilaguna stop at San Marco, which has a direct line from the port and the airport. Mehr

"San Marco Hotel in Venice"
Excelent location. Very good amenities and service.
"Honeymoon"
The hotel's location is really good, right there at S. Marco. The rooms are very small compared to American std. The hotel was clean and the staff spoke english. The breakfast was really good and it saved my wife and i a lot of money since everything in the area was so expensive. Overall, we had a good time.
"Less than a block from Piazza San Marco!"
Beautiful hotel in a fabulous location with luxurious rooms (even by American standards) and a friendly, knowledgeable staff. We were there in mid July - the height of the season - and were never bothered by too much noise or crowding. The front desk staff was able to recommend wonderful restaurants and shops with specific items that I was looking for. […] We will definnitely be back. Mehr
"Royal San Marcos Hotel in Venice"
Great location but the rooms were dinky (as in extremely small).
"Great little hotel"
Good Breakfast and good service. Very nice rooms.
"3 week Italy Honneymoon"
The Royal San Marco Hotel was our first hotel stay of our 3 week stay in Italy. The location couldn't be more convenient - absolutely WONDERFUL location. Clean rooms, small but adequate. Breakfast was perfect - buffet- well filled in. My complaint is the service. Front desk service was rude and very "put out" to answer questions. It is not foreign for […] hotel guests to ask to view the room before checking into them - especially in Italy. DO THIS. I strongly believe that the Hotels.com hotels show their best rooms and reserve the least desirable rooms for the .com online purchasers. Again, the location was perfect so if your stay in a short one - this is the pick for you. Mehr
Great location close to St Mark's square. Room very small but comfortable.
"Good hotel"
Given the price it was a good hotel. Nicely updated rooms. Comfortable. Front desk staff left a lot to be desired. A little difficult to find, but that's Venice
"Great Location"
This hotel is so close to St Marks Square so it's ideal to explour Venice from here. The hotel is very clean and attractive. The rooms are quite small as you would expect in Venice, but very nicely decorated. Our room overlooked the little street and main entrance to the hotel, which was quite a pretty view and quiet at night. It cost approx 6 euros […] per person from the station on the waterbus to get to this hotel, quite an easy task as you can purchase your tickets at the waterbus stop just in front of the station and the location of this hotel being just under one of the arches and over a small bridge, from the square makes it so easy to find. Would definately stay at this hotel again. Mehr
"Staff"
Hotel staff were not very friendly
"Great Location for the money"
Stayed at this hotel for two nights with my girlfriend on our first trip to Venice. Excellent location right in the action of San Marco Square and very close to water boats and taxis. However don't expect any level of service...the only words the desk attendant uttered when we arrived were "Prego" and "Passport"...was not friendly or interested in helping […] out at all. Also, they did not have a clothes iron. Free breakfast was what you would expect. The location of this hotel is the real winnner. Enjoyed the live music in San Marco square at night but stay away from the tourist restaurants in the area...food was terrible. Water transport and gondolas are very conveniently located as well as shopping. We recommend Beccafuca restaurant near the Angelo water boat stop...food and service were amazing! Mehr
"Great Location"
From our room, we could open one of the windows and look out directly into Piazza San Marco. The decor is very nice and has the feel of a much more expensive hotel. Positives: Location, breakfast, staff service. Negatives: No water door, so you'll have to carry your luggage up and down over at least one bridge depending on how you arrive at Piazza […] San Marco. Rooms can be very small. We had two rooms, one was tiny, the other was pretty spacious so it's a bit of a crap shoot. We arrived around 10:30 and they had one of our two rooms ready (the tiny one). They also allowed us to check our bags after we checked out of the hotel and were very nice about doing so. Next time we're in Venice, we'll definitely consider staying here. Mehr

hotel discreto in pure stile veneziano... arredamento da rinnovare!!!!!! soprattutto i bagni...
"Royal san Marco àVenise proche place San Marco"
