The Kendall Hotel - Cambridge

Da ich noch nie in Boston war und auch keine Ahnung hatte, in welchem Hotel ich buchen sollte, verbrachte ich einen Abend lang mit dem Laptop auf dem Schoß. Und fand das Hotel The Kendall. Ein absoluter Glücksgriff! Die unterschiedlichen Zimmer haben mir besonders gut gefallen. Als wir dann vor Ort waren, fand ich auch die kleine Lobby, das Lokal "The […] black Sheep" und das Frühstück super. Und natürlich die Lage! Wir konnten zu Fuß in die Innenstadt gehen. Ich kann das Kendall zu 100 Prozent empfehlen. Mehr

Great little hidden gem if you know how to navigate Boston/Cambridge on the T (i.e., nothing remarkable "right outside your door," but a block away from Kendall Station and easy access on the red line to most points of interest). Across street from MIT, so neighborhood lacks the charm available closer to Harvard, but the hotel itself is very quaint, […] quiet and affordable. Charmingly decorated with antiques and an artistic sensibility, the Kendall is a lovely hotel in a terrific location just a block from the inbound T to Boston. The room was very comfortable with a firm bed, ceiling fan, windows that actually open, a refrigerator and microwave, coffemaker, digital TV and WiFi. Coffee offered in lobby at all hours. Delicious […] full breakfast, included in the room rate, featured scrambled eggs, sausage, French toast, croissants and pastries, fruit, granola, yogurt, juice, coffee and tea. This is a charming hotel. It is the perfect location --close to the subway and easy access to/from the airport. It had a nice lounge to sit in during the evening with a glass of wine. The breakfast was excellent. The only negative for some people -- not me -- is that the rooms aren't large. I would definitely return to this hotel.

We stayed for a night this weekend and loved this place. Great location in the middle of MIT's campus and next to a T stop. A couple cool restaurants within walking distance (we went to Za as suggested by the staff, and to Friendly Toast for breakfast, yum!). The building is immaculately renovated and the rooms are a good size with a huge bathroom! […] We stayed from Sun-Mon and noticed that there was a bit of noise on the loading dock side of the hotel early in the morning. We also had trouble figuring out the AC but we were too lazy to ask the staff for assistance, which I'm sure they could have helped out with. We loved looking at the old firehouse memorabilia throughout the lobby area. Very comfortable bed and nice sheets are always welcome! Mehr

I stayed only one night for business purposes. It was a cold and windy evening which prevented us from exploring the area on foot. But nonetheless, we found the area to be populated with pedestrians, shoppers and MIT students. The hotel is decorated in antique firehouse memorabilia. There is so much to look at and admire. Stayed here for one night. Hotel is nice with free wine hour from 5-6:00 Monday-Thursday. I used their guest computer to print our boarding passes for the next day. Room is nice and not your typical hotel room look. It's decorated in non-traditional bedding, wall art work, and furniture. Our room theme is red, white and blue with quilts. They love globes; […] they are everywhere. Bathroom is tile floor in and older looking pattern. The bathroom is in good repair and clean. Shower head is fancy, but has little water pressure. I ran out of hot water and I wasn't taking a long shower. Breakfast is included in the price of the room. This is the most I have ever paid for a room, but location and safety were critical this time. We have enjoyed our stay. Mehr

I never write reviews but after staying in the Kendall Hotel I needed to tell everyone that I highly recommend this place. I stay in hotels a lot and they quickly become all the same. The Kendall hotel was charming with unique touches throughout the property. The reception and restaurant area were immediately welcoming. The rooms and hallways had special […] items throughout highlighting the fire house history of the building. The location is fantastic for the MIT area of Cambridge. Plus is right across from the Kendall T station. The black sheep restaurant was very good also. Plus the price is amazing for this area of Boston. Excellent hotel. Clean &nice New England decor. Very conveniently located 2 minutes from the T. Staff is knowledgeable, helpful & very service-minded. Breakfast was great & had a good selection of healthy options and a few indulgences. My top Boston choice from now on.

Anytime we can get a room at the Kendall while visting Boston we do. It is convenient to the T and centrally located to all the great attractions. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable and, of all things, free parking in Boston!

This old firehouse turned hotel saved the day for my recent Boston trip. Great quiet stay, rooms are clean and charming, feels like a bed and breakfast mated with a boutique hotel and had a pretty baby. The free breakfast is decent too!

Central hotel in cambridge if youre looking to be around the MIT area. The wifi they have sucks but there is a google building across the street that has an open wifi you can connect to but still a bit slow. Spent 2 nights in Cambridge to attend events at Harvard. The Kendall was in a great location right next to the T and down the street from bus stops to get over the bridge to Boston. My room was lovely, very well-maintained! I arrived before check-in and they were able to switch around my reservation so I could go up to my room immediately. This is the second time I've stayed at the Kendall, and I have no intention of staying anywhere else when I find myself in Boston. The rates are competitive with lesser chain hotels, and they're a steal compared to top notch chains. This place has all the service and amenities of the top notch chains, at a fraction of the price. I have stayed at the Kendall Hotel three times in the past 2 months and I am very impressed. It is close to the T-stop on the Red Line (a one minute walk) making for a quick commute to work. This is by far the most reasonable hotel if you need to stay in Cambridge - and breakfast is included! The breakfast is also very good - I make sure I get a cranberry […] scone each time! The hotel has a restaurant - The Black Sheep - serving lunch and dinner. I have eaten here every time I stayed and it is amazing. The proportions are perfect and the food is made with local ingredients. I always get a different salad with the pan seared salmon on top. I am never disappointed! The hotel also has a wine hour each day in a room that overlooks the city which makes for a nice end to each day. Also, every room is unique (different furniture and color scheme) and kept very clean. I have to be honest, I hesitated when booking this hotel for the first time because the reviews weren't great but I am so glad I tried it out mainly because of the convenient distance to work. But I got a whole lot more than I every thought - great options for breakfast and dinner, friendly staff, a close T-stop, a beautiful historic hotel, and a stress-free experience every time. Mehr

My best friend and I stayed here for a weekend when traveling to Boston for her birthday. We booked this hotel last minute and were extremely satisfied. The rooms were clean and had lots of room. The breakfast provided in the morning tasted great and had a huge selection. They have parking limited parking and it's in a really tight spot underneath the […] building. If you have a large vehicle, this may be a problem. The only thing is that you either have to drive, call a cab, or take the train into the actual city. We prefer to walk, but since that wasn't an option, the fastest way to get there was by car. Big mistake since finding parking is terrible, we ended up just going back to the hotel. Hit and miss attempt at "boutique" is actually far more reminiscent of European "tourist hotels.". Low levels of service (restaurant hours, wifi, etc.), rooms are rabbit warren layout. Also not suitable for older guests with mobility issues.

We loved staying here for two nights. The staff were really accommodation and friendly. The room was great and the hotel is decorated so well. It has so many interesting things to look at. Very homely style.

We arrived at about noon and the check in was not until 3pm, but the staff allowed us to store our luggage and let us check in an hour early. We were in town to see a couple of concerts and the location of the hotel was almost directly next door to the Kendall/MIT Red line stop--just a few quick stops right into Downtown Boston. The decor of the hotel […] was charming and everything was very clean and well appointed. The bed was a little on the hard side for me, but oh well! The included breakfast was decent, lots of fresh fruit and nice sourdough toast. The only complaint being that on our second day, the attendant that was pouring juice, water ,etc was chatting with another employee and not terribly helpful (we had to go up and try to get their attention for some OJ lol)..overall a very nice place, I would definetly stay here again. We have stayed here a few times before and the Kendall still doesn't disappoint! Situated in the middle of the MIT campus, I like it here because the T stop is only steps away, and in the winter, this is a plus! The decor is amazing with wonderful antique pieces and art. The breakfast buffet is top-notch with hot and cold dishes, delicious fresh baked goods and fresh,hot coffee which is available in the lobby all day long. Our room was large with a king-sized bed decked out with several pillows and a beautiful coverlet. Antique furniture in the rooms and hallways make for a comfy environment- just like home! I was able to make free local calls and I was able to access a computer for free on the 7th floor in a beautiful rooftop room. I secured parking in the attached garage and I felt safe in this hotel and surrounding neighborhood. I heartily recommend this hotel when staying in the Boston/Cambridge area. Mehr

I visit Cambridge frequently and was delighted with the hand-made, folk art charm of the Kendall Hotel. It is a refreshing environment - and contrast - to the high tech, scientific world outside its doors. Friendly, helpful staff and clean and comfortable rooms.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kendall. Our room was very comfortable. The hotel is located right next to a red line "T" stop, in the midst of the MIT campus. So I booked this hotel because a) it has a fantastic rating; b) It was on sale and c) it's near the red line. I wasn't aware how lucky I was - i couldn't say anything about improvements, this hotel is just awesome - good quality of breakfast, nice and cozy room and simply well-decorated lobby. Cannot recommend more.

One can never be sure about a hotel they book on-line. I was looking for a bed and breakfast type hotel for a weekend away and the Kendall was the perfect fit. The rooms are not your typical hotel fare. They are homey and comfortable. There is a quaint sitting area in the lobby and the restaurant, though small, is also quite enjoyable. We love staying at the Kendall Hotel. This was our second time, and it was just as nice our first stay a year ago. Peik was as sweet as ever. The breakfast buffet was even nicer with the move of the food and trays to one room, where you could dish out your food, and then sit in the dining area, or by the fireplace, or I imagine even go up to your room. […] We ate in the dining area, and for 9am, it wasn't crowded at all. This was our second stay at the Kendall, which is on the National Historic Register and lives up to its history in elegant and comfort. Our room was beautiful and appointed with quirky antiques, but clearly outfitted with current day technology. The buffet breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day!

The staff, particularly the wait staff, is excellent.

I would even recommend it for honeymoon.

Restaurant service and food was poor. Breakfast especially bad. Had to carry your own tray a fair distance. Really small tables, close together. No full length mirror. Reserved king room, got queen.

We enjoyed our brief stay at the Kendall Hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was kind and courteous. We happen to like "boutique hotels" rather than large impersonal ones. We would recommend it to family and friends who have similar tastes in hotels. The underground parking worked out beautifully for us, especially because of the […] inclement weather the night we were there. We were not sure if there was anyone to help carry luggage to the room - not a problem for us, but it might be for some people. Perhaps that service is available, but we didn't need it. Mehr

This place is very cute, with comfortable rooms, with a great breakfast included. If you have to be on MIT campus, it is very convenient. The drawback is that there is little else in the neighborhood. Need a convenience store? Be prepared to walk!
