The Blackwell - Columbus

Fabulous. Great location. Awesome beds!

The Blackwell is a great place to stay when visiting OSU. Staff is unfailingly helpful, friendly and polite and the rooms have all the amenties you want (free internet, coffee/tea, outlets on the desk). They have a business center and a very nice gym with plenty of equipment. Overall, I give it 5 stars!

This hotel is great. I believe it is partially or fully run by Masters students in Business at Ohio State, so the customer service is just fantastic. Very attentive. Also, the hotel is located right on campus so it couldn't be more convenient. And the hotel restaurant has really good food.

The Hotel staff was extremely helpful and curtious. Especially that Valet staff as they assisted with our car troubles. My daughter has accepted to attend OSU this coming Fall. Thank you for helping with her experience and decision.

We had an extremely well appointed and well designed room. It was not overly deluxe but was well thought out. It had ample lay-off surfaces, sockets at counter height. The hotel had exceptionally friendly staff.

This hotel on the campus of OSU rivals any and all 4 star hotels in the area. Beautiful, spacious, and the best service one could ask for... The Blackwell is run by students in the hospitality program at OSU...and these people know what you want and need even before you do. I am constantly and consistently impressed, and there is no where in the city […] I would rather stay. One would swear this must be a pipeline to the Ritz Carlton... Fabulous place! Mehr

Was pleasantly surprised at how nice this hotel was - is a new building - room was nice and big with a good work area (if you need it). Service was excellent and professional - even had good food! Used the Gym - very good - high end machines - was the only one there.

Great location. Great service. Very well appointed rooms. Vegetarian choices in dining bistro limited. Fantastic experience.

the hotel was absolutley beautiful the room was above expectations but... upon arriving we cking our bags due to afternoon osu football game after returning from game and just wanting to relax and enjoy hotel room our bags were no where to be found thankfully after 4hrs of missing luggage they were returned to us

The hotel is business-meeting quality, but was quite inexpensive. The morning breakfast buffet was also excellent. The hotel is on the ohio state university campus, apparently staffed partly by their hotel administration students. I'd suspect rates go up on football weekends, of course. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

This hotels is great. It's right on the Ohio State Campus, is beautifully appointed in the rooms, has a terrific restaurant and room service. Really the food is very good. I will stay here for sure if and when I have to return to Columbus. It's also pretty centrally located to the Columbus area.

First class all the way and for anything on the OSU campus, the location can't be beat. It's not that far off of I71 and much closer to 315. I'd drive a bit out of my way for this one

Valet service price isn't bad, and the staff is professional. The room is big and modern with multiple outlets at the desk to charge many devices. Plenty of desk space. There are 2 wireless services to pick from, both free. The ATT service was easier to connect to. The TVs are flat panel and a good size. No pay per movies though. Has a refrigerator, […] no mini bar. Windos do open, but just enough to let fresh air in. Bathroom is bigger than most hotels. Great location to the stadium. Good access to freeways. The hotel bar is a bit claustrophobic, but they don't gouge on prices. Mehr

Pros: The hotel iteself is beautiful, one of the best I have stayed in. The staff was very helpful. Plentiful pillows,/blankets/etc. And not one of those wimpy hotel hairdryers, either. Cons: Even though you are a guest, you have to pay a $15/night parking fee. Additionally the fan and electrical outlets in the bathroom did not work. But to be honest, […] we have been charged for overnight parking in 5 star hotels in Chicago as well; and this close to campus, it makes sense to charge for parking. Other than that, it is a great place to stay, and I would definitely book this hotel when returning to Columbus and Ohio State. Mehr

My son and I stayed in this hotel as part of trip to OSU for his orientation. We'd never been to Columbus, although my sister recommended this place as ideal, due to its proximity to the stadium. Staff is great -- all seem to be OSU students (but also very professional), so we learned a great deal from them, too about OSU. Beds were very comfy, bathroom […] large and enough counter space for our respective toiletries. Free Wi-Fi (Hurray) and adjustable desk chairs Food is great at this place-- dinner and breakfast were just fine. Supposedly it's impossible to book on Football weekends, though. Mehr

Great place to lick your wounds after THE Ohio State is defeated.

This is our "go to" hotel in Columbus, and it never disappoints. Rooms are comfy and nicely outfitted with custom built-in furnishings. Bathroom is quite luxurious, and toiletry items first rate. Room service food is great, reasonably priced, and delivered hot. Valet parking staff is quick to respond and courteous. Looking forward to our next stay in […] The Blackwell! Mehr

I was in Columbus for a concert at the Schottenstein center, and travleing alone as a single female. The hotel exceeded my expectations in security, cleanliness and service. Valet parking, quick check in, turn down service, in room Keurig coffee maker and quick check out was a bonus. The hotel was very classy, and was geared torward an upscale experience. […] I walked to the Schottenstein (less than a quarter mile away) and back without incident. I would definitely use the hotel again, and felt it was worth the price. Mehr

They did not have Fox News or ESPN. This is an upscale hotel and they didn't have the two biggest cable networks on TV. I also had a worker try to enter my room after I had refused his question of whether I wanted my bed turned down.

I travel a great deal and I must say that the Blackwell has set a high standard for all other hotels ---great service, amazing room--really felt like I was being pampered!! Food was wonderful, quiet and right in the center of the OSU area!! Parking just next door...if you are in Columbus, it is a "must-stay".

I can not imagine a better hotel if one is visiting Ohio State. Perfectly situated on the campus with access to everything. Above average facilities, helpful and friendly staff, with turn down service. Bravo!

This is a great hotel and conveniently located to the campus. Staff /Valet guys are great.

Hotels.com rated this a 4 star hotel, so we were a little surprised to find it is run by college students, we had to bus our own bags, and the radio in the room didn't work. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the bathroom was small. Not what we were expecting.

Top notch with two problems. The first is a quibble. Get rid of the coffee makers. Luke warm bland coffee is not the way to start the day. Suggest they offer a coffee service in lobby. The second is much more serious. The acoustics are are a disaster. Walls are paper thin. You can not only hear everything in the hallway, you hear everything going on […] in the rooms to either side of you. I don't know how they fix this without significant cost but until they do bring some earplugs. Staff is courteous and helpful beyond expectation. Mehr

It's a nice hotel. I enjoyed the room. But expect to pay big bucks for breakfast or any other food. They took a valet service charge, and you had little to know choice in the matter.

The Blackwell is a great hotel in the Greater Columbus area. It is located on The Ohio State University campus and it is one of the best hotels in the area. The Blackwell is within walking distance to the Ohio Stadium and Value City Arena, and if you enjoy outdoor you can always run by the Olentangy River on the Olentangy Trail. My hotel room with […] a King size bed was huge, though I did not need two big working space I could have used drawers for my clothes instead. Overall the room was very clean and very modern. The hotel was very quiet, clean, and accommodating to my stay. The beds were so very comfy! Luscious, in fact. The hotel is only about 10 minutes from Nationwide Arena (downtown Columbus), and fairly central to anywhere in the city. Very quaint location, right in the midst of the Ohio State University. This is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location if you are visiting The Ohio State University.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Blackwell. My only complaint is that breakfast was not included- as a light breakfast eater/frequent business traveler I really like a place where I can get some fruit and oatmeal or cereal for less than a $10 breakfast buffet.

The staff at the Blackwell goes out of their way to be accommodating. The rooms are comfortable. This might not be a "family hotel" as there is no pool. It's also quite a jaunt for fast food, so if you don't eat in the hotel restaurant (which is a little pricey) you probably need to drive somewhere for your meals. It was great being so close to the hockey game and so close to restaurants. First time there and it was more than we ever expected. Loved it!!
