Vagabond Inn Monterey - Monterey

Management was very pleasent and accomadating. Continential breakfast was at 8 and we left at 7. The day we left it was 8:30 and not open yet. Dont have breakfast if you don't open it up early.

really nice customer service, convenient location and room size was bigger than I expected. I was really disappointed with the continental breakfast...it was only 1 kind of pastry & coffee. I was expecting more. but overall stay was good.

Hotel was reasonably close, about 20 minute walk, to the Monterey wharf and the down town shopping district. The parking garage for the aquarium and Cannery Row was an easy 15 minute drive. This hotel looks great on the website but not as great when you get there. No fitted sheets on the beds and our queen beds seemed to have full sheets on them. Not comfortable to sleep on bunched up sheets. Floor was a bit on the dirty side. Smoking in the corridor was not well controlled as our room smelled of foul cugarette smoke at about 10pm at night. […] Talked to the night manager and got no help on this matter. Coffee pot was broken when we got there and no replacement was given when I told them about it. Terrible coffee at the continental breakfast. Had to go to a gas station to get some coffee. This was by far the best hotel we stayed at in our journey down the CA coast. It was clean, quaint, quiet and all around lovely. The fireplace in the room made a fantastic addition, especially after a day hanging out on the chilly beach, the staff was incredibly friendly and very accommodating, the beds were comfortable, the setting was great with seals […] barking quietly in the background... They even directed us to a little diner a block or so away with some of the best breakfast food I have ever had. You can also tell the owners really care about the guests and the property, which they are slowly renovating so as not to disturb their guests. If you are staying in Monterey you should definitely stay at the Vagabond in. It is an incredible bang for your buck! Mehr

The cheapest and most basic hotel on my trip, but the service was good, the neighbourhood quiet, it is located really close to restaurants, and was dated but in good condition. All in all a great value for money stay. Beware though, the breakfast is just individually wrapped muffins and pastries in the small reception area, so don't expect much the […] re. Mehr

The location is really great. The room was a little dated, but you dont go to monterey to spend all day in the room.

Very poor condition. Need to update the entire hotel. Carpets worn out and dirty..Lights dont work. Bath room very un modern.Advertised fire place not accessable stuck in a corner. Continental breakfast advertised.. None.. No Pets. People had dogs in their room barking..Sorry not worth the money..

Excellent for the price.

The stay was good, the room was clean, a fixture was missing from the bathtub, a little cosmetic help needed in the bathroom, We did enjoy the fireplace. I guess the continental breakfast is better than nothing at all. No elevator. Overall o.k. for weekend stay.

Great service, very clean, the high ceilings and gas fireplace gave it a very homey touch. Awesome location - we walked down town, to the beach and to Cannery Row (a longer but beautiful walk down the beach-side trail). Only complaint is that the "breakfast" was just a bunch of pre-packaged danishes and the like, not the fare we needed to start our […] day. The up side of this is that we found a great bakery a short walk away that served wonderful coffee, pastries, yogurt, etc. I'd definitely stay at the Vagabond next time I'm in Monterey, but just wouldn't count on having breakfast there. I was glad that I found a room the weekend of July 24th. Everything in the area was packed due to the Laguna Seca MotoGP races. Turns out I would have much rather slept in my car. The room was dirty and smelled like vomit. When I went to ask for some febreeze or something to make the stench more livable they suggested I leave the door open for a few […] hours. Also, I asked for an extra towel and they informed me they were all out. The only thing I can say positive about this hotel aside from the location, is that one of the front desk girls was really sweet. Not at all helpful... but sweet none the less. Mehr

LOVED staying at this hotel. The wood paneled ceiling and fireplace in our room was very charming. Also had wonderful and helpful staff. Hope to visit again in the future.

the hotel is in need of some maintenance, but the main problem was that the walls are "paper thin" and we could hear noises all night long from several rooms in our corridor. It was convenient to the aquarium and the pier, so that was nice and the condition of the room was fine, just too noisy.

We were told due to the holiday weekend they didn't have room for us. We complained, waited two hours and were let in a room that had no key. We had to walk a block to the front desk everytime we wanted to get in our room. And then we went out one night and got home late. No one was at the front desk to let us in so we spent the night in the car outside […] our room. No other rooms were available in town due to the holiday. This motel does not honor hotel.com reservations. The room had ants. No TV remote. Mehr

Perfect location, close to everything really. Close to the beach in Monterey, restaurants, park, and shopping center. Fireplaces are a PLUS! Always wonderful staying at the Vagabond.

A very comfy room, with fireplace, fridge, microwave etc. Quiet hotel, and super price. Can't do much better in pricey Monterey than that!

Good location. The room was spacious with high ceiling. The two seats in the room were stained, so was the carpet. The bed was not comfortable. A bit of maintenance would improve the image quite a bit.

The room was big and clean and had a fireplace, however for the price a night I would have expected more. The parking is tight, and while they did offer breakfast, there was no eating area, we took it to our room. All in all this was a great place to rest your head and is very close to the Wharf as well as Cannery Row. I would return, but would opt […] for a lower rate, maybe book way in advance. Vagabond Inn exceeded our expectation because in comparison to the other motel prices we got more than we paid for. The place is safe,quiet, and close to fisherman's wharf and cannery row.

Stayed here overnight during a trip down the coast. The building is older, but well maintained, and some work was being done to add a new patio area. It is across the street from a park, and within easy walking distance of the pier and beach.

The hotel was conveniently located in town, just a short drive away from the warf and nearby Cannery Row and the Aquarium. Our room was very roomy and clean. Don't let the outside appearance of the hotel fool you. I was plesantly surprised when we entered our room. Love having the frig and microwave (especially with kids). We paid more for our hotel […] in Morro Bay and there was no comparison. I would recommend it to others and will return should we travel to Monterey again. Mehr

We asked for adjoining rooms. We were told that they would try. When we got there we were told that the hotel was full. We were the first to get there. One of the rooms had an adjoining room that was not occupied. I don't think the manager took time to find adjoining rooms for us. They were not very friendly people. Hôtel avec petit dejeuner gratuit. Il faut une voiture pour aller dans le centre ville mais reste un bon hôtel pour une nuit.

Hvis du ikke forventer luksus, men ønsker et hotell som er praktisk, rent og lett tilgjengelig kan du trygt booke deg inn her. Frokosten er ikke mye å skryte av, men den er gratis og du blir mett :) Det tar kun få minutter å kjøre ned til sentrum og parkering er gratis.
