Before I start with my review comments on the hotel itself, I will first comment on the most disappointing aspect of my stay at this hotel, and it is an absolute lack of beach. The hotel description clearly states that the hotel has a private beach and a number of photos display a truly beautiful sandy beach. They even show a weddings shot, supposedly […] on the hotel's "private beach". Well, there is no beach, private or public. I don't know where they took these photos but it certainly wasn't anywhere near this hotel. Considering that I chose to stay at this hotel because of this beach, I was most disappointed. What they have is a very small area with some sand and 6 chaise lounge (there really wouldn't be room for more), then a sidewalk, a foot tall retaining wall and finally the sharp rocks of the reef. This hardly resembles what is depicted in the photos. Quality of service: mixed, leaning on negative. Santos, one of the bartenders, is amazing. Most of the other staff are ok - nothing neither good or bad. Some clearly need some taining Housecleaning left my room wide open one day so I returned from several hours on a dive trip to find my room wide open (not just unlocked, wide open). Of course there is no safe so anyone could have helped themselves to absolutely anything and everything. Second last day of the stay at the hotel, no one noticed me having breakfast. I sat down, put my diving gear by the table, went to get my omelet, sat down, finished my breakfast and was never offered a coffee, even though the guy with a coffee pot cruised right past me with the coffee pot several times serving other tables -and I did try to get his attention. The next day I gave up waiting for my coffee. When I was about half finished my breakfast, several minutes after I spoke to a waiter and asked for coffee, and having seen him deliver various beverages to other tables, I got up and got my own coffee. We were very satisfied with our stay at the Casa Del Mar. We walked accross the street when we arrived and went snorkeling. It was convienent and a great way to begin our holiday. The hotel staff were very helpful and went the extra mile. The rooms were very basic but clean and all we needed. The hotel overall was in good condition and nice. We sat […] at the pool overlooking the ocean and a huge cruise ship came in. Beautiful. We ate at the taco factory across the street that everyone recommended and we would recommend it too!! You have to take a taxi to town which was 10 US dollars - more than we anticipated so that hurt but besides that it was a great place to stay and we would stay there again. Mehr

The hotel beats our expectation in every aspect. From in and out, the hotel is very stylish yet convenient. The restaraunt has excellent food. Just not direct access to the beach - while we take taxi everyday to the beach - otherwise it would be perfect.

This hotel is in a location convenient only to those who have transportation or wish to take taxis to anything. The restaurant was okay--best part being the staff were really hospitable and attempted to accommodate my vegan diet. The staff in general were kind. There's the positives. We booked this hotel as a kind of treat for two nights at the end […] of a trip staying at an ecolodge with no electricity or hot water, and expected much more from lodging that claimed so much on its website. The staff seemed to be manning an inferior hotel that they somehow had to compensate for through friendly and helpful service. Our room was down some echoing corner hallway that amplified other rooms' flushing toilets, phones ringing, and knocks on doors. The room was clean and the towels smelled nice, but our room had the strangest smell seeming to emanate from the shower water. Frequently, we had little or no hot water. The television was fine, and the balcony was suitable only for drying bathing suits. The hotel is located on one side of the busy main road, and the ocean is on the other facing the shores of Mexico proper. One must traverse through a nice spacious, though busy and crowded, pool and spa area to use a foot bridge that leads to Casa del Mar's own little beach property on the water. The "beach" is actually a kind of hard-sand covered dock full of broken lounges underneath super cute grass umbrellas with mini tables attached. The view is of cruise ships which look like depressing inner city projects blocking out the sunset. It seems one cannot walk to an actual beach in either direction. We did decide to snorkel right there, utilizing some small stairs leading down to a sort of tiny sandy cove that immediately reveals an under water world of typical tropical wonder. I am not a snorkel expert, but this was obviously not a very good spot even for a total amateur like me. This is our third time to stay at Casa Del Mar. We know it's not a 5 star, but we really like it here! Waiters and bartenders always remembered our room number. This is a great place to stay if you are a diver. We will stay again!

the room was ok, very small, we had lots of issues with the bathroom, Internet connection was very slow, but the most disappointing was the location. I booked this hotel specifically since it posted to have beach access. It was very disappointing to see that the sand beach was man made and the beach was also the haven for all major tour ships. So forget […] about relaxing on a white sand beach and snorkeling at this hotel. Also restaurant in hotel was very limited expensive for what you get and quality of food. Mehr

I recently stayed at Casa del Mar in Cozumel. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The front counter staff were friendly and helpful and there was usually someone on duty who spoke very good english. I stayed in a standard room without a balcony. The room was a good size with air conditioning and it was quiet at night. The amenities were good including […] pool, restaurant and beach access across the road from the hotel. My stay coincided with Easter break when lots of Mexicans are on vacation. The hotel hosted a fun night of entertainment including demonstrations of latin dancing which was fun to watch. Not everything was perfect, but I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again. The free internet was slow and not always working. There was a water leak directly above the toilet in my bathroom which was not attended to, though I reported it the first day of my three night stay. The hotel is located fairly close to the marina (Caleta) so if you are diving from there it is convenient, but you will have to catch a taxi to explore the downtown area and this will cost about $8 USD. If you are looking for a swanky five star resort this won't suit you, but if you are looking for a pleasant family friendly stay at a reasonable price I would recommend Casa del Mar. Mehr

Hotel was clean and rooms ok. biggest diappointment was that although it says its opposite the beach that is somewhat of an exaggeration. There is a man made small sandy area opposite the docks for massive cruise liners. As long as you dont expect to be next to the beach then you wont be disappointed.

This hotel was in great location, cross the street for snorkeling, diving and Atlantis submarine. The hotel grounds were well maintained, the rest / bar was good food and drinks at reasonable price with happy hour every day from 5 pm till 6 pm. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, will be back to same hotel on next visit

The Casa del Marr staff is to be commended for an outstanding New Year's Eve celebration. Food and entertainment were 1st class! Only wish the beds were softner like a heavenly bed at Westin!

Loud, uncontrolled teenage kids! Will not return as the staff at the hotel did nothing to control or make an effort to control the kids. Several guests requested return of their money and requested early check-out.

I've been staying at Casa Del Mar for many years. Returning is like visiting family. Location, price and service is perfect.

Cosy, warm and inviting. Not a resort but for the traveler on a budget it is A+! The private beach is nice and the staff is friendly.

They run a bit of an upgrade scheme here. They put a certain number of guests into the wrong room. Once you're unpacked and comfy, not knowing anything is "wrong," the front desk will tell you they made a mistake and gave you a better room then you paid for. I'm guessing a fair amount of folks wouldn't want to move once they see the better room and […] will consent to pay the difference. Anyhow this happened several times during my stay - to me and I witnessed 2 other "mistake upgrades." In my case, I moved to the lower category room because I wanted to be near the internet in the lobby (which went down once or twice every day during my stay). Mehr

Hotellet er i fin stand. God service. Vi troede at stranden lå lige ved hotellet, men der ligger en beachclub ca. 10km fra hotellet. Det er en super lækker strand der ligger ved beach clubben. Man kan gå ind til byen, det tager en lille times tid.

Estive com minha famíla em julho/agosto de 2011 -adoramos a estrutura do hotel. Meus filhos se divertiram muito na piscina e na praia particular onde fizemos ótimos mergulhos de snorkel. O pessoal do hotel é muito atencioso, todos funcionários, sem exceção, fizeram tudo para tornar nossa estadia muito agradável. Todos dias a camareira fazia arranjos […] com as toalhas imitando um animal - cada uma mais simpático que outro. O hotel fica cerca de 3 km do centro, mas isso não foi problema para nós pois o hotel tem algumas facilidades por perto e queríamos mesmo é aproveitar para mergulhar. Para viagens com foco em mergulho autônomo, com all inclusive, a localização não poderia ser melhor, a operadora de mergulho fica no próprio hotel, e o barco sai do pier ali mesmo.Tudo muito tranquilo.O cardápio não oferece muitas opções, mas tudos pratos que experimentamos estavam muito bons. O passeio de submarino é imperdível, uma grande aventura. Recomendo este hotel, voltaremos assim que possível. Mehr

Lækkert hotel med meget rart personale. Perfekt for familier. Gangbro til vandet, hvor der også er flere dykkerfirmaer. Men vil man på stranden skal man tage ud til deres fantastiske Beach Club - super sted om en man skal køre lidt i taxi.
